Because every day should be Referral Day! Er, not really. That would get boring.

Well, that was fun. In other news, Getbackers is a show designed for both yaoi fangirls (who squeal that Emishi SO has a crush on Shido in episode 18... yes he does) and teenage boys (who think that guys with crazy super powers beating each other up is the coolest thing in the world). Love it.

Also love Wolf's Rain, which just gets weirder and more engaging as it progresses. Darcia is sexy. Yum.

Really truly finally...?

Today I had a total of one meeting at the study abroad office and one class. And it was... warm. 40. Snow is melting in great rivers all across campus, and there is mud and slush everywhere. I LOVE IT. The weather's supposed to get into the 50's by the end of the week, which sounds too good to be true. Is this truly the end of the wintry weather, or am I jinxing it all? Oh well, I may as well enjoy it while it lasts. ^_^

WEIRD dream. VERY weird.

05:01 p.m.
This one was weird in an entirely different way than most of my dreams, and quite disturbing. Somehow I ended up sucked into another world, and then hopped to different universes trying to get home. (Like Sliders, I guess. But it was just me.) At one point I was by a river and there were horses that had fallen in the river, and I called 911 and there was a big rescue operation... but I think the horses were all saved. That was far from the oddest part of the dream, though - in fact I'd forgotten about it for a while.

Eventually I ended up in a dark, rainy city, and was stuck there. Somewhere along the way I met up with Robin, and a youngish well-built guy with dark hair and a beard. He shed his skin and I put it on, and that's the weirdest part of the dream. ^_^* The skin was like Latex, and when I pulled it on I looked just like him, clothes and all. But one of the hands on the latex suit had somehow come off. The other hand felt like it had a glove on, but the right was just my hand. Then we somehow ended up in a restaurant of some sort; TJ was there, as well as Skids, Tybalt, and Apollo. ^_* There were these evil police forces in the city (I called them "Thought Police" once) whose job it was to make sure everyone was docile and not trying to escape, and the guy whose skin I was wearing eventually got killed in a shoot-out with them. It was a very deliberate decision, though... like he realized he would never escape the city so decided to go down fighting.

I don't really remember anything else, but man it was odd.

11:54 p.m.
Whoo, fun and exciting day, although it didn't QUITE turn out as expected. We were planning on going to a Borders Bookstore in Birmingham, where four members of the Queer As Folk cast were going to be signing stuff. The signing was starting at seven, and we left here around two. We ended up getting to Bob and Crysta's friend Renee's house at about five, and then her dad came home and took us out for sushi at a cool little Japanese market. He bought us a huge party platter, and then paid for it all! We were all sort of in shock, and it was, as Kathleen would say, delicious. After stocking up on snacks, we got to the bookstore a bit after seven - and were too late to get into the autograph queue.

MUCH too late, as it turned out. According to the security guy we asked, the thing filled up over five hours before. But it wasn't a total loss by any means! We still got to go into the bookstore and peer at the cast over some shelves and take pictures. Brian is HOT - at least as hot in real life as he is in the show. Melanie was wearing makeup and looked more feminine. Emmett was Emmett, in a cute golf hat, and Ted was surprisingly sexy. = ) He's sort of a bumbling nice guy in the show, but he looked really good, hee. Then one of the nice security guys volunteered to take my camera up close and get pictures. Hopefully they turn out! But even that isn't the highlight. A bit later they went on a break (Kathleen said she should've volunteered to massage their hands), and when they came back out, I just kind of happened to be standing RIGHT next to the path they walked out on. I knew it was a good spot when the security guy told me to move back. They were all RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! I could've groped Brian, but I didn't, especially since he was already freaked out by other grabby fans. Then I stumbled away weak-kneed and giggled a lot. ^_^*

Well, nothing was really going to top that, so we left (after asking a woman to take a group picture. Man, they BETTER turn out!) And then we drove home. Well, dropped James off and drove home. And ate the most disgusting Japanese snack food ever invented. It was some kind of pickled plum (we think) and it wasn't THAT bad if you just licked it, but biting into it was downright horrifying. ("Not delicious at all!", says Kathleen.) And now we are home. Whee! = )

I can't sleep at night wondering about this stupid comic.

Man, the CyxSkids fans are going to be PISSED. XD Me, I want to go pet Tybalt. Just look at his expression in the last panel! He looks so... miffed? ^_^* Of course, now he can kidnap Skids and they will fall in love and have sex in a tent. We've got it allll figured out.

Yesterday I made this handy relationship chart to keep tabs on who likes who. Skids has so many freakin' arrows around him it's insane. Of course, everything in this will have to be updated eventually. And I should really be going to work right now. ^_^*

I am a ravening slave to Boy Meets Boy right now. I can't believe how wrapped up I am in this story arc... And I just reread the whole comic. It's amazing how DIFFERENT some of the comics are when you read Skids liking Harley into it. Oh yes, and I am about 95% sure about the identity of the Mystery Kisser from way back on New Year's 2001/02. = ) I could be wrong, but...

I've been amusing myself while killing time before work by rereading Boy Meets Boy from the beginning. Hard to believe Flash actually showed up BEFORE Cy and Skids - who first appeared December 19, 2000. Cy's first line is "Dude, why does your boyfriend hate me?" Skids' is "Whoa, it shines!!" Hahaha. I love those boys. I wonder how long before Tybalt shows?

This was the first one I ever read. Ahh, memories.

Poison Pirates

"It's troubling that the symbol for "poison" and the symbol for "pirate" are the same. Sure, it saves printing costs if you're a poison pirate, but what about the rest of us? Say you're exploring a tropical atoll in that way you always do, and you come across a big carved wooden chest with a skull-and-crossbones on it. What are you going to do? If it's a poison symbol the proper response is to walk away and tell an adult. But if it's a pirate symbol we're talking doubloons and pieces of eight and possibly some sort of locket. Or say you witness a loved one chugging floor wax. After a panicked flip through the front of the phone book, you accidentally call the Pirate Control Center. You're going to feel pretty stupid!"

I love the Brunching Shuttlecocks.

Stuff.

I just felt like I should talk about this, partly just so people know what's going on. A few days ago my grandpa went into the hospital, because he's been sick lately, and it turns out he has cancer in his liver and pancreas. So, needless to say, the atmosphere around here has been pretty tense. ^_^* I personally don't even really know how I feel about it. I mean, yeah, it sucks and I'm upset, but not as upset as I sort of feel like I should be. I guess it's because I worry a lot anyway and have thought about what it would be like if he died before. It's actually almost amusing, because the whole family sort of thought he'd die from heart trouble. I mean, he's had 28 angioplasties and several bypasses. ^_^* I dunno, though, like I said my own feelings about it are pretty confused, so I don't really feel like talking about it more, but now y'all know what's going on at my house. Yay.

In other news, today I tried renting Suikoden III, but a jouney to three different video places returned no results. = /

Eeeeeee! I'm melting too!

Today's Boy Meet Boy totally, TOTALLY made my day. I am a TybaltxSkids fangirl and am not ashamed to admit it. Hee hee hee.

In other news, I have to take an online course about sexual harrassment. (Sexual harrassment+Tybalt... hm, kinda goes hand in hand XD) It's a flash video type thing, and is silly. The good news is that since it's narrated I can just kinda have it on in the background while doing other things, such as checking BmB and writing a blog entry. = ) Also, I get paid for it, which is never a bad thing. I actually have about $500 in the credit union right now, which feels like a lot, heh. If I'm careful, since I just got that raise, I could probably have close to $1000 in a few months. Depends, though, on what my car is doing...

Oh yeah, also, Spring Break is on, whoo! I'm not doing anything in particular - just hanging out and relaxing, and maybe going to Magnum Opus while trying hard not to spend more than a few bucks. Hmm, what else can I wonder around looking at while vaguely listening to the harrassment video...?

Wha... wha?! I don't know what to say. I'm partly surprised, but partly not, and partly scared and partly feeling that it doesn't matter if the movie turns out stupid because the source material is already silly. But man. I'm really interested in seeing how this pans out.

Last night I dreamt something about how I was watching the movie of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and it was really horrible and totally different from the book and I was freaking out. It was disturbing. ^_^* (These are the kinds of things I have nightmares about. Kinda pathetic, really.)

In other news... um... Spring Break is next week, meaning much sitting around being lazy and, hopefully, playing more Suikoden III, which I love desperately. I rented it Friday night and proceeded to play it for 25 hours over the span of a few days. Scary, isn't it? And the plot is so huge and complicated, I don't even think I'm very close to the end yet. (I DID spend a lot of time wandering around trying to recruit people for Budehec Castle... which is now named Highwind Castle. Because everything should be named Highwind, hee hee.) I'm in Chapter 3 of Hugo's story, even though I actually kind of wanted to do Chris' next, since she got a cool outfit and is wandering around with Nash, who is weird and interesting. And thirty-seven, which makes me think of Monty Python. ("I'm thirty-seven! I'm not old!" "Well, I can't just call you 'man'..." I'm probably misquoting, but oh well.)

I want to make a CD of just video game themes - i.e., opening and ending themes. Or just openings, since endings tend to be 20 minutes long ^_^* Although I could always make it an MP3 CD, which would make that no problem at all. Now I just have to collect them. Luckily, openings and endings tend to be the easiest things to find. I need to get an MP3 of the Wild ARMs opening... it's so pretty. Hm. I am totally babbling right now, because of course it's Tuesday and I have two more hours to kill before Psychology. I don't even know where Crysta is today; she didn't come to Japanese. I'm sure she has some excuse, heh. She missed the keigo quiz. I wish Kathleen was on, since I haven't talked to her in a while and of course I want to see if we can do something Spring Break... maybe even take the long-delayed trip to Magnum Opus, although I don't really want to spend any money ^_^* Ah well. Now I'm going to do what I love to do when I have time to kill in the computer lab -- poke around the DOC files saved on the hard drive and become appalled by the horrible spelling and grammar mistakes people are making in their papers. Whee!

I just now realized that Suikoden III is the second RPG I've played lately where one of my party members is an anthropomorphic duck with no pants.

Just so everyone knows, no, I am not dead. I just haven't been on all weekend because I rented Suikoden III, and it's immensely fun. I wish I owned it, because I certainly won't be ready to take it back tomorrow ^_^* I have a feeling it's a pretty long game, if the complicated plot is any indication. Also rented volume 1 of GTO, which was pretty good, although I am just plain amazed that Onizuka managed to not get arrested... GTO stars Wataru Takagi (Valgaav!) as Onizuka and features a special guest appearance by Hikaru Midorikawa as The Kid Who Uses His Photoshop Skillz For Evil. (His name starts with a K, I think. ^_^*)

I wish I had money, so I could buy Suikoden III. But since I got my JCMU acceptance letter yesterday, I feel that I really, REALLY should start saving up for that Japan trip ^_^*

Not again!

Why do I keep having Stupid Buffy Dreams? I haven't even watched any Buffy in ages. Months, probably. But this one did have its, erm, perks.

It started with me flipping channels and discovering a Buffy cartoon on TV. I watched it just to see what the characters looked like. I remember that in the cartoon, everyone was wearing Japanese-style school uniforms, which is pretty silly.

But somewhere along the way everything shifted and I was suddenly in a van with two guys. (I have no idea who they were; just extras, I guess, heh.) We were driving to a swamp because one of the guys wanted to investigate... something. We ended up awakening some woman who had been sleeping in the swamp. Actually, upon retrospect I think she was a mermaid. Well, she was scary, so we ran away really fast. And then I went and told Buffy about it at school the next day. ^_^* I guess that made sense. I mean, she'd find out eventually anyway. So me, Buffy, Willow, Xander, and Giles headed out to the swamp, but the only woman there was a pretty normal-looking woman in a park ranger uniform. (Apparently the swamp area was a state park or something.)

Then there was a scene where Buffy and Willow went off to do something, leaving Giles, Xander, and I alone in a little building of some kind, where Giles showed us a new weapon he'd recently gotten.

It was a lightsaber. A double-ended Darth-Maul-esque lightsaber. He was obscenely proud of it.

I don't entirely remember what happened after that, except that Buffy and Willow came back and then, naturally, we figured out that the park ranger woman was actually the mermaid. So we went running after her, and along the way these big stone gargoyles (what they were doing in a state park is anyone's guess) came to life. But since I didn't have the lightsaber - Giles and Xander had disappeared - I had to fight them off with these weird whiplike plants I pulled out of the ground. Well, it worked, anyway.

Buffy eventually caught up with the mermaid - who had gotten her tail back - and I found Xander and Giles, and also one of the guys from the beginning of my dream. I have no idea how he'd gotten there. Anyway, they were under some kind of magic sleep, so... yes, you guessed it... I had to kiss them to wake them up.

I saved Giles for last. ^_^* And I probably kissed him for a little longer than was really necessary.

Cold... so... very cold...

12:01 a.m.
Gaaah. I am exhausted, and also cold. (At least I'm not hungry any more!) Spent a fun-filled weekend with Kathleen that culminated into helping to move her into her new dorm room today. Which involved much carrying of things up and down stairs, since the new room is on the third floor of a dorm WITH NO ELEVATOR. Climbing so many stairs while carrying random stuff is taxing for a weakling such as myself to begin with, but compounded with the fact that we had nothing to eat all day but chips and lime Jell-o... well, I thought I was going to pass out like Shuichiro, and anyone who has any idea what that comment meant realizes that it's a bad thing. But then we went to Chichi's and I had a chimichanga and fried ice cream, and now I am home in the warmth and feel much better. Also, I have no idea where my brother is. ^_^*

And in other news... I'm TIRED! So I'm going to take a nice hot steamy shower and then head for bed and it will be very good. Yes.

Ahhhh.

06:26 p.m.
Today was downright WARM! I think it got up to 34 or so. The burst of warmth seems to have revitalized me. Work went really easily, and now I am off to Kathleen's. Fortunately, I have the van. Unfortunately, it has very little gas, meaning I'm going to have to spend a chunk of money to fill the huge-ass tank. Oh well, I'll live. And it's worth it. Kathleen is weird because we have never once had an argument about anything. The few things we disagree over never get into the "argument" stage. It's almost scary - I'm sort of waiting for something huge to happen eventually, hee. But anyway, I was going to eat, but the sweet and sour noodles I had earlier are really tiding me over, so instead I'm just going to throw some mansex into my suitcase and head out. Yay!

Viva la pantslessness!

Finally watched my tape of Reign. It was... certainly interesting. I kept thinking about how uncomfortable it must be to ride a horse while not wearing pants. I like the concept of the show and the art style is so weird that I kind of like that too, so I'm going to keep taping it. Also, there was an amusing realization partway through the first episode: "Huh, that guy sounds kind of like Seymour."

Yes, Reign is dubbed by the same people who did Final Fantasy X, Pet Shop of Horrors, and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. You can click the link at the top of this entry if you're curious to see who's who. Ah, and as for Julia Fletcher maybe being Olympias... well, she sounded like Carmila from Bloodlust to me. But the credits say Olympias is played by Julia Demita. Sooo... maybe Julia Fletcher married John Demita? Hmm. ^_^* I have no idea. But I think it is the same person.

A couple of interesting notes: Matt McKenzie plays a total wuss, which cracks me up. Also, there was a scene where John Demita was talking to himself. That made me giggle also, although if I hadn't already written down the credits I probably wouldn't notice. Once again John DiMaggio does a voice that sounds NOTHING like any of his others... I wonder what he sounds like normally? Hm.

Archived, and whoops...

I just archived immediately after my last post. That probably wasn't the smartest idea. Go here to read about Spirited Away from the Kalamazoo Film Society.

This is a somewhat more "traditional" layout for me - I was feeling the need for something colorful and upbeat, and these guys fit the bill. The dark-haired one with the glasses is Ban and the blond one is Ginji, and they're the title characters in the new anime series GetBackers, which Kathleen introduced me to very recently. I've only seen three episodes but so far I'm really enjoying the characters, humor, and somewhat silly action sequences. I'm looking forward to seeing more! Title from the Cowboy Bebop song of the same name. It really has nothing to do with the show, but at least it worked to get the Beatles song "Get Back" out of my head.
