Jealousy!!! Saturday, May 10, 2003 11:10 a.m.
Damn, I wish I was in Japan with you right now. ^_^* You do realize you're going to have to visit Hikone Castle again once I get there, right? Heh. Also, you're learning where everything is, so you can show me when I get there. it's like you're the guinea pig. Maybe you can also teach me how to cook something that isn't instant noodles, but I shouldn't get my hopes up. And Getbackers manga! I need Getbackers manga! (I'm going to buy as much as I can afford for web site purposes. I'll have to make the site REALLY awesome so that I can put a Paypal donation button on it and people will actually donate because they love me. Plans, plans. = ) I should go start doing more episode summary things, since it's about all I can do without more resources.) Oh... you probably can't download fansubs over there without your computer. Do you want me to bring any Wolf's Rain and Getbackers that comes out while you're over there? Wolf's Rain 14 is out now, but as far as I know there's been no more GB since 27. You might have an alternate source, though. Just let me know. = )
Single Anime Dads Thursday, May 8, 2003 11:05 p.m.
Why is it that single parents in anime are almost always dads, and how come they're always so cool? I was watching episode 4 of Demon Detective Loki today, which was all about Mayura and her dad, who joins Fujitaka Kinomoto and Sai... um... Sai... Jiyu's dad from Jubei-chan in the "awesome single anime dads" category. Mayura's dad, who has no name (at least not yet), seems to be some kind of Shinto priest or something. I really don't know enough about Shintoism to have a clue, honestly, but he seems to do ritual type things - although he doesn't believe in the supernatural at all, which is amusing. I kind of feel like he's in denial, since he's obviously attuned to it. He also reminds me vaguely of Shigure from Fruits Basket physically, although he's older; he has black hair and wears the same kind of clothing, though. I dunno, I just think it's interesting.
Also started some serious work on my future Getbackers site. I would be working on it some more but I should probably get a good night's sleep tonight, since I have work at nine. Um, guess that's really all I wanted to say, except that I'm getting really nervous about JCMU since I haven't paid for it or anything yet. (Stupid Western.)
Owww, sunburn. Monday, May 5, 2003 02:28 p.m.
I just had a pretty darn cool weekend. Friday I went to visit Kathleen, who was freaking out about how soon she's leaving. (Her plane to Japan leaves around 3:45 today, I believe.) We had a good time; watched Cardcaptor Sakura, went out for steak, and saw X2 which was really very enjoyable. (I have liked both X-Men movies better than Spider-man. ^_^*) No Gambit yet, but at one point a computer screen showing the names of all these known mutants had on it the name "Remy LeBeau" which caused us to squeal in transports of fangirlishness. (Still, the guys behind us who were discussing whether Mystique was wearing a bodysuit or blue paint were a tad worse.) Also saw the week-old kittens, who are quite adorable. I want one.
Saturday I drove home and then went to see Seussical the Musical with my family, which was really great. Lots of fun and just an all-around high-energy and happy show. Also, one of the guys who played one of the monkey brothers was really sexy. ^_^* Then we drove to Sandusky to go to Cedar Point's opening day yesterday, which was also great fun.
We waited four and a half hours for Top Thrill Dragster, though. The line never exactly got any shorter during the day, though - my dad was talking to a guy in the Millennium Force line who said he waited six. Ouch. Was it worth it? Hm. Yeah, I guess it was. I mean, it's not like I haven't ridden anything else at Cedar Point a million times, and really, there is absolutely nothing to compare to the moment when you're at the very top of the ride and you look out and can see all of Millennium Force in front of you, with Lake Erie stretched out behind it. That one moment is really the only thing I remember about the ride with any clarity, besides the fact that trying to hold my arms up on the launch wasn't a great idea. They got thrown back against the headrest and now I have bruises. ^_^*
Also, I am hideously sunburned now. I should've put some lotion on my face but I just didn't think about it. Owwww. And that's about it as far as my weekend went... oh, I also had the absolute best Whopper Junior ever at a rest stop in Ohio last night. I have no idea why it was so wonderful, but it was.
OMGWTF!!!!!11 Thursday, May 1, 2003 01:53 p.m.
Whoa, I just saw my grades, and they're - whoa. Okay, here's the rundown:
Psychology - CB (pretty good, considering how much I BOMBED two of the tests!)
Japanese - BA (expected)
Asian Lit. - BA (I actually thought I'd get a B, so this is a nice surprise)
Japanese Hist. through Film and Lit. - B
Whoa. A B. I didn't turn in the final paper at all, and he... gave me a B. Is this a mistake? Did he just really, really like all my in-class work? I mean, I guess I DID do a fairly good job on all my responses and presentations and stuff. But... I didn't turn in the final paper! I guess I should be grateful, but I keep gawking at the grade and thinking it's too good to be true and must be some horrible mistake. O.O (Insert me knocking on wood here.) Man. This calls for a celebration - my yummy chocolate egg will be savoured here and now. Mmmm.
Well, that's not so bad! Wednesday, April 30, 2003 02:23 p.m. The Dante's Inferno Test has banished you to the Sixth Level of Hell - The City of Dis! Here is how you matched up against all the levels:
It MUST be intentional. Tuesday, April 29, 2003 11:08 a.m.
Getbackers 25. Drama, angst, fighting, and MAN-LOVE! Good god. I was actually giggling when watching it, because dang. You don't have two men embracing while feathers fall around them and then smiling at each other shyly as the sun rises and NOT know that it's going to look really Odd. Akabane also got a very great moment in the end of that episode, which is always a good thing. Now I want to watch 26 and 27, but 26 isn't done downloading yet. (If I really wanted to I could skip to it, heh, but that's not a good idea). I have to go pick up a loan application from the credit union, but I'm not sure how long that will take, and there is work at one... so I'll probably do it tomorrow. I have to do everything tomorrow. >.<
Stressssssss Friday, April 25, 2003 01:40 p.m.
God, I'm going to Japan in a month and I STILL HAVEN'T FILLED OUT THE DAMN FAFSA. It's so stupidly confusing. >.< I'm actually considering just skipping the damn thing and going to the credit union for a loan instead. I also have to get the ISIC, and I'm not sure if the picture I have is good enough. I hate our study abroad office more and more each day.

Three guesses who Ban was talking about in that quote. = ) I just watched Getbackers 22, and it was just about the greatest episode EVER. Drama, emotion, one of the single most hysterical scenes yet, a cliffhanger ending, moments of man-love - I mean, friendship, yeah, that's it - and of course Akabane looking sexy; you just can't ask for anything more! Also, there was the discovery that Akabane has been hiding a fearsome and possibly unstoppable power: the ability to turn Ginji SD at will.
Scary.
In other news, I'm leaving for Japan in mere weeks. WEEKS! Aaaah! I need my loan! Ahhhh! Erm. FAFSA, you are getting done TONIGHT, no exceptions! Then I can go to Japan and stock up on Getbackers merchandise and open a web site when I get back! Whoa, that would be neat. = ) I hope the manga has furigana. Maybe I could even steal my old blog layout from, er, myself, and use that as the main page. It'd look pretty nice, I think... although it would need some little button graphics for the navigation... ::planplan!::
I also walked a few miles today after I got home from school. It felt really good; I think I'm going to start doing it more often, and possibly jump-roping as well. I'll make a CD of upbeat workout music and ask Mom if I can take her CD player to the basement, where there is ample room to jump without knocking things over and without people gawking at me. ^_^*
Note to self: Tell boss you will be gone for two months. Yes, good plan.
I have so many archives o.O Thursday, April 17, 2003 02:16 p.m.
It was getting a little long, so I archived again. Part of the reason I have so many archive pages is because I used to archive fairly often. I don't any more. I also plan on leaving Akabane up at least until school gets out. I don't really think I'll have time to make a new layout until then. I really should be researching for my Japanese History through Film and Literature paper, but man, I am stuck. I can't really write the Chushingura paper I wanted to do without a book that the library lists as being "in transit", and I can't really write anything about manga because I can't really find anything. The two books on manga that Waldo has are both checked out, and I can't figure out where Crysta found that article on yaoi/shounen ai. Maybe I'll just ask her for it, but I can't exactly do that right now. ^_^*
I got a new story idea the other day, which I've been tossing around in my head. It's a pirate story, because pirates rock. It's about a boy who is searching for his mother, who is a really famous pirate. I'm thinking about working in the old superstition that women were bad luck on pirate ships, and have it that she had disappeared and everyone is grumbling that that's why. The boy lived with his very mild-mannered father in a little fishing village and only met his mom a couple of times when he was really young. I was originally going to make it a boy looking for his pirate father, but the mother is just a tad more interesting in my opinion. The other two characters I have in mind are a girl who is trying to find a ship that'll take her (she tried disguising herself as a boy, but wasn't convincing enough and got caught). The other male character I haven't figured out yet. He's very polite and acts and looks aristocratic, but I haven't figured out his motives or his past or anything. Also, nobody has names yet.
I should get one of those Eyewitness books out of the library. I know we have a pirate one = ) Man, this paper is the single thing I have to worry about at the moment. Well, that and the kanji test tomorrow, but I have lots of study time tonight. I'm going to make flashcards and take them with me if we go out to eat ^_^* Then I can make some vocab flashcards for the final, too. At least most of the grammar is fairly easy this time. Still... Benkyoo shinakute wa ikemasen...
P.S.: Shounen Ai is looking like a surprisingly good place to live, despite its foul-mouthed children. = )
Jet Black, the most under- appreciated character in Cowboy
Bebop... gruffly sexy, protective, stable, why doesn't this guy get more
love from the fans? His nickname from his cop years was "Black Dog"... once
he bites, he doesn't let go. A very stark layout for a change...
