Ranting, ranting, ranting...
::dead - but in a good way!:: Sunday, November 18, 2001 01:37 a.m.
So I really, REALLY should be in bed right now. It's 1:38, and I got up at eight this morning, and last night I saw the Harry Potter movie at ten, which ended up getting out at 12:45. The movie is two and a half hours!!! Plus lots of previews! This was a very good thing, in my opinion; nice long Lord of the Rings trailer, rather boring-looking Star Wars: Episode 2 (although it had Boba Fett, yay), and man, the movie itself just kicked butt. The casting was wonderful, and they did a really great job compacting the book - turning multiple scenes into one, that sort of thing.
And then there's Alan Rickman. He didn't just play Snape, he WAS Snape. And he was sexy. I was slightly weirded out when I suddenly found myself immensely attracted to a random middle-aged British man, but geez. There's something about him that just makes you want to immediately offer him oral sex. Or maybe I'm a freak. I think it's his voice, though. Gives me shivers - the good kind.
Speaking of people with sexy voices, we watched the Big Wolfwood Episode in anime today. Well, the rest of the club watched it - I literally ran out about halfway through, because I just couldn't stand watching it in such a big room. I guess, for me, it's a very intimate and personal episode. This could have something to do with the fact that I really wish I could elope with Wolfwood and bear his children; I'm not sure. ^_^* Oh man, though, the tension running between him and Vash from about episode 21 on (really coming to a head in 22) is just amazing. You know, I liked Milly better the first couple of times I watched it. She's starting to bug me more. ^_^* I still don't really dislike her, I just sort of wish the writers hadn't tried so hard with the whole love-interest thing. Same with Meryl and Vash. Anyway, I need to sleep. Maybe I'll dream something else funky. The one last night... man, I wish I could remember the plot. There are only three things I do remember with clarity, and they are 1)Snape; 2)Ninjas; and 3)a laundromat.
Coming out of the closet!!! Wednesday, November 14, 2001 12:46 a.m.
Okay, I admit it. I love Harry Potter. I have loved Harry Potter for a couple of years, read all the books three times (and am about 50 pages through Chamber of Secrets on a fourth reading). I bought my movie tickets last night and then ran through the theater parking lot giggling like a five-year-old on a sugar rush. And it was good.
I've always been against liking things just because they're popular. I read the HP books, though, because I've always liked fantasy, and I was bored, and people whose opinions I respected had praised them. And I was TOTALLY sucked in to Pottermania. Really, sometimes it feels good to be part of something so huge - although I'm still against pretending to like it without any genuine attachment. And seriously, the HP fan community consists largely of 12-year-olds; I'm definitely not into it in order to be popular with THEM. And my favorite character is Snape, who a lot of kids hate or are scared of. Heh.
In other news, I'm deciding to minor in Japanese despite being an honorary member of the Warui Gakusei no Fune. So I never bought the workbook or turn in homework... ^_^* I'm only getting a CB because of it, that's not so bad. Eheheh.
Random Note: I wish I could somehow make a living having fun all day. That's why I want to be an anime translator. But Warui GakuseiGumi members probably don't do a lot of translation, heh.

Wow, I've made my first blog archive. How, uh... special. I would redo the layout also, but I can't seem to access my WMU account from home, so I can't add any pictures to it, which sucks. And I STILL haven't figured out how to get the text small ^_^* Oh well.
Last night I had this totally insane dream involving The Brady Bunch and UFOs. The UFOs probably came from Mahou Tsukai Tai, which I was watching until around one in the morning, but The Brady Bunch?! And then there was this scene where Andy kissed me, which is pretty weird. I mean, I guess I sort of like Andy, but I never expected to start having dreams about him ^_^* And no, Sarah, he's not the crush I've been mentioning. So there.
I thought I actually had something to talk about, but I guess not. I'm a tad upset over my lack of money, but that's nothing new. I want more anime! I want more manga! (Actually, what I really want is to be able to READ manga. That's why I'm in Japanese class, though ^_^* I really need a big kanji dictionary.) I have to figure out what I want to do with my life, because unless I have a job that leaves me relatively well off, I will be unable to spend tons of money on anime stuff! And that would be sad! I mean, there are no less than seven Cowboy Bebop soundtracks, and I only have one, and they're around $30 each! (Crack really WOULD be cheaper, I think...) I did recently get KaZaA, a filesharing service that you can supposedly get anime from, but so far I've only downloaded 84 meg of a Fruits Basket episode and then had someone turn it off (I suspect my brother). Hopefully it'll be able to resume. >.< I've only seen one episode of Fruits Basket, but I really like it. It's cute, and the main girl doesn't annoy me (yet). And there are cute guys in it, which is always a plus!
