| well, it appears that at the tender age of 20, i've finally achieved the apotheosis of bloghood. yep, that's right, this website is now the number one hit on google (best srchengine ever, bytheby) for the search string "wolf 359." see for yourself. so that's kind of flattering, especially when i saw how many other pages there are out there on other wolf-359-named topics. and yes, this does mean that i am much, much more popular on the web than i've ever been in real life. thanks, i guess.
oooh! pitchfork sez unreleased modest mouse set for, release april 10! so i'm pretty freakin' stoked. i know all the hipsters think the moon and antarctica is the shite, but i much prefer the rawer, less produced, less "modest" mouse that grabbed me by the proverbial balls on the lonesome crowded west. what? i'm young, i'm male, i like rawk, yellow bile and pith, what can i say? so all y'all fey indie lads 'n doe-eyed scenestresses can populate the moon and/or antarctica if you like, but i think i'm gonna set up permanent residence in the lonesome crowded west. whatever the hell that means.
guess what? i'm going home in 2 days! isn't that great? a whole week of slacking off and bothering my more industrious and career-minded hometown pals! oh yeah, it's gonna be a party. |

| while trolling alt.binaries.mpeg.video recently i had the good fortune to run across a full copy of the pixies video "dig for fire/allison." never in my life have i seen a music video less suited to the song it's for than this one. for those who haven't seen this pretentious piece of off-topic wankery, it's a succession of slow-moving shots of all four pixies dressing up like bikers in a dark room. and that's the entire video, except for one segment when its cuts to a scene of some people on motorcycles. if mst3k screened music videos instead of movies, this would be the kinda shit they'd watch. i mean, it's a bright, happy tune, right?! so why the fuck is the video all dark and artsy and stupid? the "allison" portion is slightly better. it was filmed live in a baseball field in amsterdam and the pixies are the only people there. eh. hardly redemption for the visual shitefest that preceded it.
that reminds me--one of these days, i'm going to have to finish my mostly-synthesized cover of "dig for fire." one of these days after finals are over, that is. |

| sonicnet recently posted this quaint little piece on napster addiction. the most memorable snippet had to be the "four stages of napster addiction." wait, what were they again? ok, forget the "memorable" part. but checkitout to gauge what level of napsterholism you've sunk to. |

| sweet, sweet pain. how i adore thee! well, let me stop being melodramatic. for the week before finals week, i guess things are going pretty well. i'm close to securing a job for the summer, plus i just finished a 5-page philosophy paper in 2 hours, a personal best. luckily i can relax and do some low-pressure writing tomorrow, since i'll have no classes. maybe i'll even find the time to work on some music. . . but i doubt it. larmey hasn't sent me the vox for that track yet, so i don't know what's up with it. and of course the music world's dead newswise; you always know when all the official media sources find themselves spouting new album announcements, tour dates and chart data. or rambling aimlessly about their ennui-filled lives, as the case may be. |

| sorry kiddies, i've been quite the busy academic over the past several days, and the trend looks like it's gonna continue into next week. so that may mean no news, no anecdotes and worst of all, no new music for awhile. well, maybe just a little. when i get the chance, i'm gonna write a little diatribe about My Perfect Woman, so all you ladies out there are gonna want to pay close attention so that you may vie for my attention. or. . . not. whatever, either way it should provide several decent-sized chortles.
also, larmey says he's gonna do the vocals to "everybody wants to rule the world" on tuesday, so maybe you'll get some new music even quicker than ya thought. but i guess that all depends on him.
one last thing: if you haven't caught the new lone gunmen series on fox yet, you're seriously missing out. geeks of the world unite, and this one may actually survive. it's kind of like if hackers grew up, got old and started a conspiracy rag. finally, an action-comedy for the digeratti!
