Quote of the week:

February 24-March 2

"I'm not a girl..."

Brittany Spears' new song has pause in a very strange place, making her sound like she's revealing much more than she should be. And no, I don't think that's how you spell her name, and no again, I'm not going to bother finding out what the actual spelling is.

Currently listening to: "You and who's army?" Radiohead

On Sunday I bought a British music magazine, mostly because it came with a CD titled "Best of 2001". After all, I am always desperate to know what it would be like to be hearing the popular music of another country (especially that one). It also had songs by The Strokes, The Charlatans, Radiohead, Muse, Ash and Starsailor on it, all of which I've been wondering about for awhile. The only thing missing really was Suede, but I don't think they released anything new last year.

Anyway, the point of that was... listening to this CD really made me wonder what makes a great song, and why there's certain songs that you just can't like. How exactly does someone else you've never met write a song that resonates so completely with you that their song can be considered your favourite? And why do you think it's your favourite? Personally, as someone who chose their favourite song ever for the first time in their life one week ago, I'd love to ask a whole lot of people what their favourite song is and why.

This rant has been much longer than it shuld have been, considering I really didn't say much. But that's just the way it is. The End.

Currently listening to: "This woman's work" Kate Bush

I'm making a new pretty header image for this page tomorrow, maybe that will encourage me to write more often. Of course, now that mum's computer has been utterly destroyed (I know... *sob*) I won't be able to use the internet for five days of the week anyway. That is of course unless she gets around to having it fixed sometime in the near future. I certainly hope she does.

The Olympics are ending tomorrow. I don't know why, but I'm really going to miss them. It's not like I've even watched them that much, but there's just something so very reassuring that they're going on, even if I'm not watching. Sometimes I just get into one of those televised international sporting event moods, and without the Olympics there's nothing I can do about it. At least I've still got the Commonwealth Games and that international swimming competition on cable to look forward to.

I'm already lost at school. God, spare me all the pain. No, the other God. Yeah, you. Please spare me the pain. Thanks Brian ^_^. The End.

Sunday, February 17, 2002 10:42 p.m.

Oh God, I'm so sorry! I thought it'd only been a week since I last posted, but it's been over two! I just checked out the page, and when I saw the two days I was so upset that I had to write something else! Now, what else is there...

The winter Olympics are on right now, as is the Ice Dream, the hideous bastard child of the original dream from the Olympics. I haven't been watching any of because mum's television doesn't get regular channels. I'm not missing it nearly as much as I thought I would.

I've turned both Anna and Candice to the dark side. That is, I have turned them to the honest, holy ways of a pretty boy worshipper. Yes, Candice did like Danny boy first. But now he's just one of many beautiful people. I actually got Anna to like Placebo and the Manics, but that's quite annoying really. They were just mine before, and now I have to share. I hate sharing, especially when I'm sharing my greatest loves.

I'm back at the hell hole known as school. It makes me a very sad little girl. The End.

Sunday, February 17, 2002 10:23 p.m.

Currently listening to: "Thirty-Three" Smashing Pumpkins

It's been awhile! Guess what... I love "The Smashing Pumpkins" and oh my god, typing that just then made me realise that their name might mean the really good pumpkins, like 'simply smashing!' instead of the breaking/shattering pumpkins like I always thought it meant. I was probably right the first time, though. Billy Corgan's voice is beautiful.

I've become quite interested in Sum 41 over the last few days, mostly because there's such great slash potential between Deryck and Cone, and also because Cone is hot. I can like them as much as I want to, they're too cute for words. Although cute does kinda capture it.

I've got lots of new obsessions right now, actually. I've come to care very little for things that used to fill all of my thoughts. Brian's still my goddess, though. I love you, Brian. The End.

Goodbye to you, Richey James Edwards. Seven years, hey? See you later.

Just did this quiz. Quite appropriate, really.

Goooooooooooooooo Placebo!!! "Special K" was #32 on the Triple J hottest 100, and I HEARD IT!!! Fuck yeah! I then did some research, and found out that this is the fourth year in a row they've been in it! They're previous placings were...

1998- #41 Pure Morning
1999- #78 You Don't Care About Us and #5 Every You and Every Me
2000- #47 Slave to the Wage and #39 Taste in Men

Yay, yay, yay! Watch me dance! I'm in a serious happy place right now. The End.

Currently listenig to: "Are you sad" Our Lady Peace

I just bought the CHANGESBOWIE album, and athough it is on the list of CDs I wanted to buy, I'd forgotten it was there and bought it anyway. Stupid me!

Farewell. The End.

Currently listening to: "The greatest view" Silverchair

I guess I forgot to mention something semi-important. Anna and Kathryn believe that our musical career has started. I'm not so sure. We have our first gig in about a month, at a reataurant, and we're meant to have ten songs ready by then. At the moment we have about five. More updates as things become clearer, I'm still a little confused.

I watched the Golden Globes on Monday night. Us Australians did pretty well. Moulin Rouge won best actress (Nicole), best original score and best comedy/musical. Poor Ewan missed out, but good for them anyway. He looked gorgeous, and although I didn't realise it at the time, he was wearing eyeliner. By choice, people. Because it's lovely.

Tuesday, January 22, 2002 02:17 p.m.

I've never heard anything by Malice Mizer (and think they may have just broken up) but Gackt is quite pretty... And the one I got has wings!

Currently listening to: "Movies" Alien Ant Farm

I've had an unsettling two days. The longer I'm conscious, the longer the list of people who I know don't like me gets. No wonder I spend so much time by myself. I'd just like to say on the record that I sing because it's fun, not because I think I'm good or anything like that (quite the opposite actually). If I ever start caring what other people think of me the world will become a much darker, evil place. Tra la-la.

The Gold Coast Big Day Out was yesterday. I watched the first half of the coverage on Channel V (I was at Candice's for the second half, but taped it to watch later) and they showed Placebo doing "Special K" at last year's BDO! It was exactly the same live, Brian really is a goddess... I don't know what that's got to do with it, but he was wearing a great skirt, tank top and akubra hat. His eyes were painted in lovely white, but unfortunately his gorgeous hair was covered by the hat. Oh well, he was great anyway.

I got my school books today. It almost made me sick, after my unfortunate afternoon yesterday. Just so everyone knows (but of course that doesn't mean you care) I'm covering these funtastic tree derived products with the unearthly beauty of Brian... and some of his friends. Oh what fun I shall have.

I just thought I might say the CD's which I'm planning to buy soon, just for the hell of it.

Gorillaz - Gorillaz
The Strokes - Is This It?
Blur - Parklife
The Manic Street Preachers - The Holy Bible and Everything Must Go
David Bowie - CHANGESBOWIE
The Velvet Goldmine Soundtrack

These aren't in any particular order. This is all I can think of that I really want right now. I'm sure there's more, though.

Daniel Johns sounds more girly than Brian does, I saw an interview with him, Chris and Ben. Hw needs to shave. The End.

Wednesday, January 16, 2002 03:40 p.m.

I'm back from Brisbane again (I've been there for three days) and I'm extremely glad. I hate those creepy little cousins of mine. Well, not hate... But you know what I mean. But I found the best thing I could possibly find at HMV: Placebo's "Bruise Pristine" single, out of print in Australia since 1997! Sure I paid $16.95 for two songs and a remix, but it was worth it. I'm still dancing with joy... ^_^

I just did one of those 'who are you in whatever thing' quizes. This one was Manic Street Preacher style, and I got the prettiest one...

Take the Manic Street Preachers Quiz!

Yay me. The End.

Currently listening to: "It's Raining Men" Geri Halliwell

I'm sorry that I've been absent. It's actually because I started a real diary, on paper. I'm writing in it every day, and it takes up a lot of time. I don't know how I'll keep it up after I go back to the unhappy place.

The new banner up the top is of Richey Edwards and Nicky Wire, of the Manic Street Preachers. Richey's the one you can see properly. He's also the cuter one, although that picture of him isn't that good.

It's so hot again. I just want to die. The End.

Tuesday, January 8, 2002 04:22 a.m.

Currently listening to: "I know" Placebo

I've had the most horrible two days. Somehow Dad's side of the family always manages to make me feel like I tried to kill them, then decided to visit them so that I can get free food. I'm so glad to be back on the gloriously sunny coast.

While watching the David Bowie video I happened to notice the most obvious thing that "The Velvet Goldmine" ripped off...

Think back to the scene in the movie (people who have seen it) when Brian was singing "Hot One" and it was like a film clip. Their guitarists look exactly the same, for one thing. Brian was getting friendly with his guitarist while shirtless as well. Oh, and yes, I will admit that David looks like a right nancy boy in this picture. It's a very bad picture. Tee-hee, I said nancy boy! Never mind.

Even at four in the morning it's still hot. The End.

The End.

Sunday, January 6, 2002 07:43 p.m.

Currently listening to: "Parklife" Blur

What are the odds? I downloaded this song (Parklife) two days ago because I heard that the album was good and thought I might listen to the title track. Then an hour ago I saw this very song on Channel V. It was surprising, to say the least.

I spent last night and today watching a video of all of the music videos David Bowie ever made, and writing down every detail of what happened. I don't know why I did it. Probably for the same reason I wrote down every little thing that happened between September 11 and 15 last year. I don't know why I did that either. I'm going to Brisbane with dad, Anna and Kathryn now to see relatives. I'll be back tomorrow night.

Yuck, there's someone's old notebook next to me, and it smells like peanut butter. The End.

Currently listening to: "Here with me" Dido

Oh my God, I'm laughing so hard... I was just at the Buffy Message Board at Mighty Big TV, and in a topic where everyone is meant to contribute rules to a Buffy drinking game (those are really fun, by the way) someone called thestatic made an interesting contribution...

One drink every time Buffy calls Spike a pig.
Two drinks every time Angel/Riley/Parker are mentioned.
Three drinks every time Angel returns.
Four drinks every time Parker returns.
Break the glass and cut out your eyelids every time Riley returns.

You know, I think I just might do the last one...^_^ The End.

Saturday, January 5, 2002 02:37 p.m.

Look at the fun I've been having!

Which David Bowie are you?

I'm the Bowie that was just like Brian Slade in the very best movie ever!

Saturday, January 5, 2002 12:22 a.m.

Currently listening to: "Amazing" Alex Lloyd

There's a few things I've been meaning to say, that have just been floating around in my head for awhile. First... I forgot to mention that I saw Alex Lloyd live at Woodford. Although most people who saw him now think he's a bit of a wanker (to use a fairly British term) I was strangely attracted to his strange, smoking-on-stage self. But most people would expect that from me by now, anyway.

Second... although many think I'm fucking retarded moron (to use a slightly offensive term) I'm really not as stupid as you might think. It all stems from some time in primary school, when people used to actually think I was smart. Afraid of disappointing them, I purposely acted stupid so that when I failed at anything it was expected. Now it's just a habit. So there, you go, my well thought out reason for why I seem so stupid. As for the frightening ditzyness and insane giggling... that just comes from watching too many pathetic American teen movies.

One last thing. I think I'm more in love with Brian than I ever have been with someone I haven't met. And it's not an oh-my-god-he's-so-hot way, but more a please-let-me-look-after-this-sad-little-boy way. Talk about crazy.

Bless you, everyone. The End.

Currently listening to: "Talking about a revolusion" Tracy Chapman

I went to see "Harry Potter" again yesterday with Candice and Daniel, and I have to say that it was a lot more enjoyable than the first time I saw it. For one thing I didn't have a burning headache. For some very strange reason Daniel decided to buy one of those $3 inflatable brooms. Of course, this also meant that he had to wave it around during the scene in the movie where Harry and friends learn to fly.

I think the people near us in the line for the movie (we got there an hour early to make sure we got a seat, having missed out on the session we were originally meant to go to) musit have thought we were crazy. While Candice and I were waiting for Daniel to return with his broom (a fact which we definately didn't keep quiet), she read the third Harry Potter book and I looked through my newly-purchased Harry Potter cards, then painted various Harry Potter themed messages all over myself in black liquid eyeliner. I ended up with Malfoy is God written across my chest.

I think Candice and I laughed all the way through the movie. I know we laughed every time Malfoy came on screen. The funniest event, though, was when Filch nearly caught Harry in the restricted book section of the library. Straight after he said, "You can't hide!" some little kid sitting right near us yelled back, "Yes he can!" We didn't stop laughing for quite awhile after that. Well, I didn't.

I know I promised to recap the depressing evilnessthat characterised the most recent Woodford, but I just can't yet. But as soon as a really bad mood overtakes me again (there shouldn't be too long to wait) it'll all be right here. I'm on too much of a happiness high from the David Bowie movie I just watched. He had the cutest strawberry-blonde hair in it, and he wore these funny big glasses during some of it ^_^. Ah, the obsession deepens... The End.
