11:05 p.m. HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRACE! i have a feeling ants are lurking around in my house, just that they dont show up. they have become cleverer, coz they know if they showed up then they would be dead. i have to clean the house asap to exterminate the ants. the transcript is finally done. it took longer than i expected. but i havent done coding. and the paper is due next week!!! everything is so rushed. 105 is due next monday, 104 and 103 due next friday. luckily i have no show to watch nowadays except for closet affair.
11:40 p.m. today had a weird dream. a dream not only weird, but got me thinking about it for the past 12 hours. i dreamt that i was dead. (touchwood!) and i saw people whom i know in another place. everyone was living normally, but only in a different place. there, i saw grace. (hope this doesnt affect her coz tomorrow's her birthday. but anyway since ive typed it out, then it wont come true.) we were asked to gather somewhere, and the higher authorities handed a slip of paper to me, which stated where i will be reincarnated to. mine wrote "europe" and grace's paper wrote "america". and the authorities said if you dont want the continent you could change but have to wait. then i saw people in front of me drinking the mengpo soup and forgetting everything in their previous lives and jumped down to be reincarnated. end of dream. i dont know what the dream means, but it set me thinking, is it like this after people pass away? i know its not auspicious to talk about it during the new year season. but anyway i was quite freaked out by the dream so i didnt want to think about it anymore but somehow i can still remember the scenes. it wont come true if i tell other people, so here im telling all of you. transcription is only a quarter done. and a lot of things to be done by wednesday. but i just dont feel like doing things, hahahah the holiday mood has set in. but at least ive done some research and some transcription, i shall watch some vcds to relax. haahaaha. my method of slacking. sunday, 29 january 2006
HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR! didnt have the cny feeling until we went to sanshu's house. jane zeh-zeh's tummy is huge. my newphew is arriving sometime in april. went to kamweng-biugor's house in the afternoon for more angpow collection. was quite bored at the beginning, until dai-yeema made the announcement: who wants to play mahjong??? then i got all excited but i didnt tell them i wanted to play coz that would make me look like a habitual gambler, which im not coz i just like to play mahjong. ahahhaa. yongjie, jiawei and i watched the aunties and uncles play, and after the aunties went on to play other card games, we took turns to play with the uncles. my luck wasnt too good, but luckily the money that i lost was auntie karen's. i only lost 20 cents of my own money. haha. saturday, 28 january 2006 had reunion dinner with yeye, popo and gujie. was nice to have them at my house. watched the movie with louis koo and cecilia cheung, and also dry wood fierce fire at tvbj, even though ive watched it so many times. watched the channel 8 countdown while switching to the tvbj countdown in between commercials and during boring segments. i didnt tape the whole countdown this year, i only taped the parts with wenfang. it saved not only the cost of the tape, but also the cost of the mediacorp cd/dvd, because the songs they sang were all lip-synched, and the live version of wenfang and mingshun was way better than the mtv version. hhaha.

how does it feel when the long entry that you've just finished typing disappeared into thin air due to the web page being lagged? its exactly the way im feeling right now. luckily i remembered what i typed. the past few days were spent doing projects and feeling stressed. did my 103 presentation today. i felt that i didnt do a good job. thus i was feeling depressed the whole day. interviewed jasmine for my 105 project. it was great meeting up with her and she definitely helped me a lot in the project. thanks jasmine! love concierge last episode ended with a very expected ending because the ending scenes were shown at the beginning of every episode during the themesong. there was one thing bugging me: where did ruxin's baby go? there wasnt any scenes showing the delivery, there wasnt any explanation to what happened to the baby, and there was simply no mention of the baby in the finale episode. ruxin's tummy just deflated all of a sudden. so i felt the inconsistency in this area, and the scriptwriters should at the very least mention about the baby, like either bring the baby to the wedding or make the characters say the baby is sleeping at home or something. logically, the baby would make the older couple proud grandparents and he/she would make sense to appear at the wedding. oh never mind. received qianyu's postcard from barcelona. how i envy her, being able to travel/backpack around the world, and in comparison, i have only been to malaysia and hk. it was really sweet of laozhao to send me postcards whenever she went to a new destination. hope she will come home soon to share her interesting experiences with me. wenfang's new movie, zodiac the race begins, is already screening in cinemas. if i have the time, i will go and catch it, but if not, i will wait for the vcd to come out. yesterday was pretty wendy's birthday. saw her online and wished her happy birthday. she was so surprised that i remembered her birthday. somehow i have a good memory for remembering dates. it has been three years since i last met her, the last time was at marina square linkway where i met jesslyn and her. i was there to see flora. yes that was on 6 december 2003. wendy will be a new lawyer a year later. i miss the times in dhs very much.
yesterday i saw the whole collection of cny pictures of the tvb artistes. what made me so delighted was not the artistes, but the star of the collection: pluto! my favourite dog. it appeared in 18 pictures in the collection. absolutely adorable. i have three pluto soft toys. here are the top four adorablest pictures: the long-awaited cny holidays are here. half the time will be spent enjoying, and half the time will be spent working on projects. transcription of today's interview, hopefully, can be completed by tomorrow. writing papers and doing research are utterly exhausting. im supposed to be happy coz of wenfang's birthday but im feeling depressed and sad today. partly because of presentation, and partly because of the social relationships in my school and among friends. and the newest reason is because of typing the same entry twice.
11:11 p.m. love concierge is ending soon. since episode one, ive always wanted ruyi to be with jiekuan. however, after the fake pregnancy incident, i realised that jiekuan is very wishy-washy, indecisive and stupid. hahaha. and after watching today's episode, i like lance more than jiekuan. and its a pity ruyi wont end up with lance. rushing for time. 103, 105, 104... grrr. and mahjong session has been cancelled coz kennise wont be free. =(
11:14 p.m. yesterday i went to visit my grandparents. yeye and i were watching tv and the advertisement with xiang yun and daughter appeared. daughter went: mama zui bang (the best)! and yeye repeated it but it became: mama sheng dan (lay eggs)! hahhahaha my grandpa is soooo cute. =) today yunxin and i wore the same clothes to school: black 3/4 sleeve v-neck tee and jeans. haahha. it wasnt pre-planned. nothing much, just anticipating the arrival of the festive holidays. and i might rent crimson sabre anytime soon. oh ive checked with the rental stores, the earliest tapes they have are those of 2003. hahah like how early la. never mind.
11:55 p.m. went shopping with gujie in orchard, initially intending to get clothes, but what we got instead were boxes of cny goodies. and we sampled so much of them at taka basement that we were too full for dinner. in the lift at wisma, a mother and young daughter were standing in front of us. the daughter was eating something. she finished it and handed the wrapper to her mother. the mother said: "ni gei wo zor mor! wo you bu shi dustbin!" (you give me for what! im not a dustbin!) then i started giggling, and the next moment i turned around trying hard not to laugh out in their faces. after we exited the lift, gujie and i were discussing about that hilarious sentence and i bursted out laughing uncontrollably. hahahaha. till now i still find it absolutely funny. im drowning in projects. and im thinking of changing topic for 103 coz the other girl might be doing a better job and i might pale in comparison. i think its because i have low confidence in myself. whenever it comes to presentations, i always lack the confidence. i will think of aspects such as how my classmates will view the way i present, the information i give, fearing that the information is not deep enough that classmates are able to refute my points, and when people do the same thing as i do, i am afraid of being taken into comparison, especially when classmates and tutor already had the first impression that the other classmate is doing a great job. so... i dont know whether i should stick to my topic or change to a new one. i seriously lack the confidence when presenting. but its a different case in CO coz i sort of had the upper authority when i spoke to members. but i feel like a tiny shrimp in tutorial classes, whereas every other classmate is a big giant lobster. watched 2006 miss chinese international pageant just now. most contestants look quite average. the winner is miss johannesburg, 1st runner up is miss bangkok, and 2nd runner up is miss kuala lumpur. i dont like the way miss kl fawned on the hosts. she is indeed the more chatty one, but in a way too much because she presented herself as a chatterbox without brains. so i wasnt happy that she got 2nd runner up. miss bangkok is sweet and polite. miss johannesburg is quite pretty, but i had wanted miss toronto to win because she is the prettiest among the top 5 contestants. but somehow miss toronto's speech segment wasnt as good as miss johannesburg's so the crown went to her instead. the other contestant in top 5 is miss vancouver, who is pretty too but miss toronto is the prettiest among all of them. and it was no surprise that miss hk didnt manage to get into top 5 because tracy yip is just normal looking, and her performance wasnt outstanding. its a coincidence that the top 3 this year cant speak proper cantonese. top 2 cannot speak cantonese at all, while miss kl's cantonese has a malaysian slang and seriously her cantonese cannot make it. and she was basically hun-ing her way through during the speech session, and eric tsang had to correct her so many times. if she cant speak proper cantonese, she shouldnt talk too much. it just sparked me to search for the tape of miss ci 10 years ago, because i want to look at meiheng's performance in 1996. shall go and see whether the rental shops have the tape for rent or not. when i have the time to spare, that is.
02:56 p.m. i was supposed to write about how i would feel relieved when my 103 presentation would be over. i was supposed to write about how i slogged for the project. but now... there were two people presenting the topic today, me and another girl. the other girl started first, with the exact same questions and the exact points that i had in my slides. the discussion went on for almost an hour, which was way past the scheduled time, and i thought i need not present anymore. blur tutor realised that i was supposed to present only 5 minutes before the end of the lesson. so i was rescheduled to present next week. now this has both good and bad parts. the good thing is, i can refurnish my powerpoint and add in more details so that the topic will be more covered and well-rounded. and the due date of the term paper was also thus pushed back by one week. the bad thing is, i had initially anticipated the complete of this 103 project. but now it is being delayed and i have other stuffs to do as well. so im still stuck with 103 as it is, and so i feel quite grrr about it. but like what shujing said, think on the bright side, that ive already finished the powerpoint slides, so i have more time to work on the paper and to improve on the slides. so yeah, the above are my grumblings about it. but nevertheless i have to face all these eventually.
10:26 p.m. i havent blogged for a few days. nothing much happened, except that im trying to finish my 103 powerpoint stuffs and 105 research questions. oh, ive finished the jiantao that im supposed to do almost a year ago. so i guess i work under the pressure of time. and my jiantao is 8 pages long! ahaha lin li will have a headache. i have no idea why i got a minus one for the karma status in ph's forum. aaah whatever la, its not important anyway. my life is quite mundane at the moment, no new shows to watch, endless projects, and lack of sleep. haiz.

11:50 p.m. aaah gross. i just typed the WHOLE review for the conqueror's story and it disappeared. aah shoot. so now im going to type the bare essense of the demised review. and i know nobody reads it so who cares.
storyline: that was sooooo much summarised than the demised review. aaah whatever im not in a good mood, now that my efforts have gone to naught.
characters: hong yue (kong wah)- intelligent, valient, strong, brave, ambitious, arrogant, filial, upright. the best part about him: he cared for the people and he truly loved his one and only woman. the worst part about him: he was too arrogant in some instances and disregarded a lot of people. lui chi (maggie cheung)- very very very ambitious, scheming, totalitarian, intelligent, brave, strong. the best part about her: sadly none. the worst part about her: she married her ambition, and she was nothing but a woman who craved for power more than anything else. yue gei (melissa ng)- gentle, compassionate, considerate, beautiful, faithful, the model virtuous woman. the best part about her: she loved hong yue with her heart, and was willing to sacrifice her life for him. the worst part about her: she was said to be a cursed woman. the ending is the same as what happened in history. lau bong became the unified emperor, hong yue committed suicide, lui chi succeeded in becoming her favourite coveted empress, yue gei married hong yue but sacrificed her life for him. overall the show is exciting. but no matter how exciting it can be, it is definitely not a re-watchable show. because everything is linked and it is difficult to pick off in the middle. in the whole show, its either warfare or the love between hong yue and yue gei. there was no love between lau bong and lui chi. so if the warfare was tedious to watch, the best parts of the show would be the undying love bewteen the hegemonial king of west chu, and the legendary beautiful lady yue. but heck, nobody else would want to watch it because the thought of chinese history scares them off. nobody reads this whole stuff anyway. first, i was half an hour late for 103 tutorial. second, i wasnt picked at all and had to do digital technologies for project and it is due for presentation next week. third, i almost lost my wallet forever if not for the kind man who told me i had dropped my wallet. forth, i accidentally erased the whole chunk of review. friday the thirteenth had really made my day unlucky and unhappy.
11:38 p.m. thursday, 12 january 2006 school was alright. ive finished watching 2/3 of the conqueror's story. shall continue watching since i dont have to wake up early tomorrow. i cant get into pitas. hahah never mind, i shall post these posts together when i can get in. back to watching yue gei. wednesday, 11 january 2006 went for chinese cinema elective. we did some analysis in the beginning, and later we watched an old hong kong movie called Du2 Bi4 Dao1. the movie was filmed in 1967, and it is a martial arts movie, but somehow the whole lecture was laughing throughout the movie. some of the expressions and dialogues of the characters were just too hilarious. dialogues like "younger disciple, die then die, dont lose face" and "sorry i came late. you are terribly injured! younger disciple, do you have any last words?" plus the cast which looked incredibly alike made the movie funny when it was not supposed to be funny. the story is similar to return of the condor heroes, whereby the main lead's right arm got hacked off by his shimei, while another two disciples were always licking the shimei's boots. the one-armed male lead was saved by, no not a condor, but a lady, aka the female lead. as expected they fell in love, but due to enemies attacking, the male lead had to save his teacher fellow disciples. he mastered the powerful left-hand swordplay and killed the enemies. with that the story ended with the male and female leads leaving to become farmers. hahahah. the whole experience was entertaining. papa drilled the wallboard in for me in my room. so now ive got extra storage space. it has been raining these days, so the clothes are still very wet, while the new ones are piling up, and thus i have no more clothes to wear. i have been forced to wear the secondary camp tees. which are miraculously comfortable to wear. ahahah shall wear them again. watching the conqueror's story. oops, i mean, chionging the conqueror's story. so now my msn display picture and nickname are of hong yue and yue gei. even yongjie's hooked to the show. war/history shows are one of the best genres. but it has two great disadvantages: too tedious to film war/history period shows which require heavy casting and overseas location filming, equals high budget. also, the ending will be known because everything is history. provided the show has been edited.
11:57 p.m. finished watching AHOL. a happy ending as expected. but the very last ending with the two goldfish was quite silly. immediately started with the conqueror's story. at the beginning of every episode, there will be a member of the cast telling a story about a phrase that origined in that era. i quite like that part, coz i can know more about the history stuffs that were never gone into details in chinese literature classes. the beginning few episodes were a bit confusing, coz the fundamental storyline wasnt established yet. but around episode 4, the show became more interesting with all the battle stuffs. the battle stuffs are quite nice. meiheng's character didnt appear until episode 6. so far ive watched till episode 7. so i shall wait until i finish the show before drawing any conclusions.
11:46 p.m. today was a whole day in school. i couldnt sleep the previous night. but surprisingly i could stay awake during lessons. all the professors seem quite nice, but i almost succumbed to sleep during 104 tutorial. turns out that we dont have to do our lit review so soon. good. exchanged my textbooks with shujing, so i have two textbooks less to buy. yesterday i watched 6 episodes of AHOL so i have 2 episodes more. and today after school i finally bought the conqueror's story. shall watch it tomorrow. my eyelids are closing anytime soon.
11:59 p.m. met up with jsfc friends for lunch and then kbox. kbox with them was super fun! as usual cindy and i became quite high, especially when all of us started singing the grasshoppers' songs. bought the HH3 dvds from kennise. and jasmine promised to lend me secret of the heart! yippie. next gathering: chu san mahjong!! hopefully nothing clashes with it. went to auntie jennie's house after that. i got lost coz i went the wrong direction. luckily there was a kind resident who showed me the way on his bike. by the time i reached there, the aunties had already stopped making the kok zais. so i just ate dinner and sat around. felt quite bad coz i was the last to reach, did nothing, and was one of the first few to leave. tomorrow chionging my jiantao, lit review, and translation! luckily that is a short article. i simply refuse to translate magazine articles. i have a feeling that after i finish with AHOL, im left with all the meiheng shows to watch. tcs, hh3 and hahah in no time i will start to rent crimson sabre. which is freaking 40 episodes long. and half of the show is about yuan chengzhi. haiz.

11:49 p.m. start of add/drop period. i dropped accounting. and took up chinese cinema. even though chinese cinema's timetable falls on wednesday. there goes my wednesday off. shall ask joanna whether the module is okay or not before officially taking it. my 105 tutor is really nice. received qianyu's postcard from helsinki. she looks like she is having a wonderful time in europe, travelling to places like helsinki, copenhagen, stockholm, scandinavia, etc during her holidays after her exams in london. haha. saturday is going to be very crammed. if only karen doesnt have a wedding to attend on 14th, then i will have more free time on saturday. ive just finished translating an article for ph's forum. took me hours to complete it. its strange that we are willing to spend time to blog and to do volunteer work like translating newspaper articles, instead of doing more important stuffs like the jiantao and research for my upcoming literature review. haha.
11:44 p.m. started school. had 103 and 105 lectures. dr aquila was humourous and friendly. dr lee was hyperactive and animated, so much so to the extent that she kept going round in circles, and in turn became long-winded. ended lessons at 12pm. went to jec to check out TCS vcds. but they havent arrived yet. went causeway point to buy new speakers. the nice and black ones are expensive, while the cheap ones are all white or grey. i eventually bought a $15 one which had some fuzzy sounds. aah never mind, at least its audible. rosy just told me joe will be in singapore on 12th feb. but she is not sure when he will arrive. hope he doesnt arrive on 11th. because thats the day of singapore idol auditions and i want to help out with the logistics to gain experience. 10th or any day earlier will be just fine.
a family drama just occured. minqi and pohchoo found my blog. ahaha i guess soon everyone will find out about my blog, even though i never go around promoting it. hope nobody gets offended in any way. no school tomorrow. time to watch AHOL.
11:31 p.m. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHELLE! watched 3 episodes of AHOL. the plot is quite predictable. and there's a theme to every episode. the dialogue is funny, the children are cute, but the adults (meaning my two idols) have little chemistry. shall see how the show advances as the episodes pass. went to ps poh kim to see if the full set of the conqueror's story is out. but sadly no. met up with the 2E people for michelle's birthday dinner. felt kind of odd coz i was the only non-2E person there. saw mollie, jieying, mingjie, kesmond, and then the whole bunch of zhiweis that are one year younger at suntec. like quite awkward coz we just waved and said hi. and i still owe them the jiantao. hahahaha. oops. we went moonfish. had a great time there. took lots of photos of the birthday girl and two realistic photos of yimyiu. aaaahh my works. if meiqi flies off on saturday then i can send her off. remember to bring schnappi to london~ i cant wait for saturday. its going to be an exciting day. afternoon kbox with jsfc friends, followed by dinner. send meiqi off at night. stroll down to auntie jennie's house for kok zai making marathon. maybe staying over. and hopefully mahjong!! ahahhaa. school's starting tomorrow. as much as i dont want school to start, im actually anticipating cs103 classes, coz its intro to electronic and broadcast media communication. and im getting ready to volunteer at singapore idol audition. not singing though, but volunteer as a staff. hahhahaa.
11:01 p.m. HAPPY NEW YEAR went to suntec with gujie. saw a lot of doggies there because there was a dog performance. went to whampoa to visit my grandparents. gujie bought AHOL for me. and the conqueror's story is out! but only the first two parts are available. so i shall go other outlets to see if the full set has arrived. and i shall buy it. ahahah. just now when i turned on the computer, there was a bursting sound coming out from the speakers. and soon after that the speakers couldnt work. so now i have to make do with a soundless computer. which means i can only watch AHOL on the tv tomorrow. haiz.
