today
went to look at the book. i dont know whether to buy the thick or thin version. luckily crimson sabre only has two books. shall buy it later during this week.
finished my 801 assignment. felt as if i was doing a chinese lit assignment. haha. time passes very quickly, and its time to flip the calendar to the girls' page with jessica and meiheng.
tag from jean:
Rule 1: List 5 weird or random things about myself.
1) i cant fall asleep on the nights before school reopens and before the first day of exams and before anything important.
2) im not a typical singaporean because i dont eat durians, chilli, and cockles.
3) i hope to see meiheng and mariane, because ive seen the rest of my idols before.
4) im in search of belle’s watch. get me one if anyone of you sees it. thanks!
5) this is the second time im doing this tag. sarah tagged me before, and jean tags me now. =)
Rule 2: List 5 ppl whom u want to do the quiz.
anyone who wishes to let people know more about yourself is free to do this taggie.
Rule 3: Next, leave a comment "you are tagged" on their blog and ask them to read your blog for rules.
ahaha they can come here themselves if they want to do. =D

midterms. i passed! on the dot! ahhaha. i scored 25/50, which i think is horrible. i didnt read annual editions at all, and half the questions were from AE!! haiz. average score is 26. im slightly below average. =(
got back the 104 assignment. we got lousified grades. initially i said that if we got low grades i would laugh because it would be the dictator's fault. but this time, it came true and i didnt manage to laugh at all. somehow the reality and the thinking process are not the same. anyway, the reduction of grades for this assignment serves as a lesson to dictator, that way exceeding the page limit will not be beneficial. i have already mentioned that to her but my advice went on deaf ears. and the mistakes that i highlighted to her were ignored by her, even though she replied that she has already edited the mistakes waaaaayyyy before i pointed out to her. guess what? the same mistakes appeared in the final paper. haiz. we shouldnt give way to her in the first place. we shall do better for the next assignment.
found 10 journals at one shot. wah exhausted. yesterday night i couldnt sleep at all i have no idea why when i went to bed at 12am, which is considered early for me. and i tossed and turned until 6am. haha.
have the urge to watch crimson sabre after looking at the pictures from meiheng's site. lalala. no time to watch leh. i might buy the book to read first. heh heh.

stayed home to study midterms, but i only managed to absorb a bit of it. watched life in the balance while studying. aaaah i miss watching flora's shows. hopefully flora's album and movie can come out asap. =D
saturday, 25 february 2006
went to j8 with gujie to buy tickets to watch fei yuqing concert. gujie wants to watch, so im accompanying her, even though i know nuts about her idol. bought a t-shirt, watched HH3 and zhou ri ba dian dang (which is currently my favourite taiwan variety programme), and started studying for midterms.

went kbox with grace, yimyiu, huiyi, kiaying, michelle, yiling and cuilin. halfway during the session, the kbox staff told us that they were having a game outside, and we could get a free jug of coke if we won. so we went outside to take a look. the game required us to stack ten dice up like a tower without falling. after a few tries, we managed to stack the dice. seeing that we were so enthusiastic in participating in their game and that we have so many people, they gave us two free jugs! haha.
came home to watch riches and stitches. oooh life in the balance will be shown on tvbj on sunday, 830pm. even though ive taped it before, i think im going to tape it again. i cant remember where the old tape was, somewhere in the sea of tapes that i have.
searched for a whole bunch of meiheng stuffs. anyway, i should be studying for midterms but instead i found myself browsing through tonnes of information that is totally unrelated to school work. found the articles that mentioned about kong wah having a bad working attitude, and he made meiheng cry!! dont know whether true or not, but through the videos, it seems that kong wah is really arrogant and antisocial during filming.
got the newest themesong of meiheng's new drama, le femme desperado. sung by miriam yeung. =) searched for RAS themesong, and i finally found the tv version. but i found the songs that meiheng sang in the show as well! however the songs are already expired for more than a year. =( haiz. a bit disappointed.
i realised that meiheng's characters usually don the nicest clothes but have very sad and/or tragic endings: KOYAT, dream of colours, riches and stitches, HH3, etc. anyway, i realised 3/4 of the entry is about meiheng. sooo... i guess no one really reads the details. people probably skim through and come to this sentence, telling them that they can dont read the whole chunk if they are not interested, but then all came too late. ahhahaa.

today
went to school for 816 and 104 meeting. didnt do anything productive. haiz. went to library to find books for 816. it was tough finding books when there was no research question in my head at all. yunxin and i were afraid that if we set the reserach question, but cannot find 10 books on it, then it will waste our effort. after 1 hour-odd in the library, i found 8 books to photocopy. thanks to sarah for helping me!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOANNA!
internet had problems so i couldnt find research. tvbj changed the timeslots for their programmes from today onwards because virtues of harmony II has ended at their 444th episode yesterday. so lady fan is shifted to 930pm and riches and stitches to 1020pm.
11:17 p.m.

had 105 project meeting at bistro at cine. we ordered a crepe and a slice of cake, and started with the critique. all of us got headaches after reading a quarter of the other group's paper. marilvyn ordered a cranberry juice in the middle of the discussion. and when we were paying the bill, we realised that they didnt calculate the cranberry juice in the total amount. hahaa. so mari had a free drink.
it is such a coincidence, that yesterday night i felt like writing an article about the successors of the seven tvb fa dans, and this week's i weekly actually talked about the successors of the tvb big brothers and sisters. so im not doing one. im alright with their views, except for the ones on bernice liu and shirley yeung. bernice is soooo not like jessica. she gives me the impression of lee san san. and shirley is a far cry from nnadia. i cant think of anyone who shirley can succeed from. and im surprised that ah mo's salary is half of meiheng's salary! but the salary list seems quite outdated, because i still see kong wah's name in it, so it probably was a list from 2004.
11:22 p.m.
Monday, February 20, 2006
met up with qianyu, yanting, wanjing, yinglan and puayleng for klunch at cine. the rooms at level 8 are quite smelly, i think, but the rest felt that they smelt alright. after singing, we sat at long john silvers to chit chat about everything. later we changed location to the shihlin stall at basement one. we started laughing like nothing there because of a "welcome a lobster from new zealand" joke.
watched riches and stitches. lang heung ling appeared for less than five minutes in this episode. i realised that the most scenes that lang heung ling appeared on screen were dancing scenes.
packed recess week. the only day avaliable for me to do my stay-home assignments and research is wednesday. and the deadlines are coming again. after which are the study weeks and the exams. and the holidays. qianyu is flying off tomorrow. have a smooth journey qianyu! study hard!
did a translation for three articles of flora, but as soon as i finished them, i saw that another member has done a translation as well. haiz wasted my effort. anyway, it seems that flora has a boyfriend. feeling happy for her. oh by the way, today's kbox session was the only session that i didnt sing any flora songs at all. because ive already sung them all before.

went to the temple, then to visit my grandparents. yeye has become thinner, and he likes it! hahaha. watched catch me if you can at whampoa with gujie and my grandparents, therefore i came home late.
sanshu was featured in today's sunday times. i didnt get a copy of the papers, but all thanks to the trusty ntu database, i got the full article. its a pity they didnt include the pictures, if any. one thing thats useful from the info lit class is the learning of searching databases. haha.
courtesy of the sunday times and wonderful factiva.com:
THE CHOCOLATIER
IF YOU are a fan of the chocolate fountain - that cauldron of dietary sin that has become a regular fixture at buffets - the man to thank is Andy Foo.
The Singaporean is the pastry chef of Grand Hyatt, the first hotel to introduce the chocolate fountain here in 1998 at VIP events.
In fact, the 49-year-old is credited for a number of chocolate innovations that are now commonplace in eateries here.
Asian-influenced chocolate pralines? He introduced the lemongrass-centred praline at Singapore's World Gourmet Summit 10 years ago.
Soft-centred chocolate cakes that ooze molten lava from within? He was one of the first to offer it in Grand Hyatt banquets about eight years ago.
Needless to say, Foo is mad about chocolate.
He started out as a waiter at the then Hyatt Hotel back in 1973, and was transferred to the pastry kitchen in 1980. The job opening led him to discover what was to become a lifelong passion.
'There's so much fun and creativity involved. You're always on the lookout for new ideas and trends,' says Foo, who is married to an accountant. Their two children, aged 20 and 17, have also cultivated a love for chocolate.
A protege of pastry veteran Gottfried Schuetzenberger, Grand Hyatt's executive pastry chef, Foo now heads the hotel's 28-man team in pastry and baking.
He has also been a regular face in competitions, having taken part in 15 local and international contests over the years.
He scored his biggest win in 1990 when the Singapore national team, of which he was a member, swept the top awards at the Food & Hotel Asia culinary challenge here.
While knowledge of trends and products are crucial if one is to be a good pastry chef, he says unwavering patience is vital, too.
In 1988, he created his most spectacular showpiece for Food & Hotel Asia - a multi-storey dragon boat (above) carved out of 22kg of chocolate. It took a month to make.
It is a lot easier when it comes to satisfying his own personal indulgence.
'Just a bar of Valrhona bitter chocolate will do,' he says with a smile.
the end. why didnt the article mention his 19-year-old niece...? hahaha. shall search for the article in the library.

half the day was spent sleeping, and half the day was spent watching tv. watched HA episodes 8 to 10, some random shows, zhou ri ba dian dang and kate and leopold.
eVonne looked very pretty in zhou ri ba dian dang. luckily her team won, otherwise she would have to drink some yucky drink. kate and leopold is a nice movie.
the most that ive done online these two days is filling in all my friends' johari windows. initially, only people who took introduction to communication studies will know what a johari window is, but now it seems like everyone is hooked to it. hahah dont know why. im not getting a window coz i dont feel like it.
tired. even though i wasted a day.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CUILIN!
i always had the impression that cuilin's birthday was 19 feb. oh haahha so i was wrong this time. luckily i realised my error from meiqi's blog in time to wish you happy birthday here, so hope you've had a wonderful birthday cui! =)
i cant stand myself for wasting money on cab fare every friday. grrr. the comfort of my home is too good to resist, so much so that i always find myself reluctant to leave home for two lessons on friday afternoons. nothing much today, probably the most significant thing is that the recess week starts today.
hahaha i guess the next few days' entries will be about the television shows that i watched. watched herbalist affair episodes 5-7, virtues of harmony II, riches and stitches episode 2, and the donnie yen interview this morning on the phoenix channel.
riches and stitches feels more exciting than herbalist affair, probably because ive watched half of HA before so i have more anticipation for RAS. but then again, i know that the ending for RAS for meiheng's character is going to be sad, so i do not hold high hopes of her character having a smooth path in the show.
i started searching for RAS screenshots, but tvb doesnt have a website for the show because it wasnt screened in hk before due to it becoming a warehouse drama. however, thankfully the mnfc website has tonnes of nice screenshots and relevant magazine articles on RAS. my favourite article is the one with meiheng dancing in episode one and many of her friends came to support her filming the dance. jessica and flora came to support meiheng too! i like to see my idols having good relationships with one another. =)

met up with qianyu, yanting, puayleng and yinglan during lunch to see qianyu's photos and to catch up on each other's lives. felt really great meeting them again. yay we are going kbox soon, before qianyu flies off.
today's lessons just went by like that. it seemed fast, because the lessons werent stressful unlike the times when we had to submit this and that assignments. im quite tired nowadays. haiz.
watched quite a lot of shows today after i reached home at 6pm. first, i watched the highlights of the torino 2006 olympics winter games, which was soooo cool (pun unintended) because the ice skating races, ice hockey matches and the bump ski competitions were very exciting to watch.
then i watched episode 3 of herbalist affair and stopped to watch virtues of harmony II on tv. then continued watching episode 4 until 9.55pm when i went for a quick shower. i usually bathe very quickly when i have a show waiting for me. hahahaha. so at 10, i watched riches and stitches episode 1. it was alright, and woohoo meiheng appeared already!! but i forgot to buy tapes. i shall see if the rest of the episodes are interesting, if yes, then i will consider buying the vcds.
wah my eyes are very tired. 4 out of 9 days of the recess are taken: to visit grandparents, kbox, and 105 and 104 project meetings. must start studying soon le.

my whole primary four class was hooked to wild orchids. we were so crazy over the show, that the childish us used colours to represent each character of the show. red- liu ying; pink- ziqing; yellow- zhengfang; green- yumei; purple- yuanyuan; white- jianren; blue- william; orange- william¡¯s wife (cant remember the name). then we would put red and pink together and yellow and green together, and used the respective colour pens to ¡°be¡± the characters.
first time seeing wenfang. was at century square for wenfang¡¯s autograph session for her first album, fanntasy. mummy, gujie and yongjie went with me too. was a year that i treasure the memories of very dearly.
the year that things change a lot. like becoming the chairperson of dhsco. also the year that i learnt a lot because of the post given to me. and also the year that i know more friends that stayed with me even until now- my 3/4jam friends and dhsco friends.
started working. met a lot of artistes for the first time that i never thought i would be able to see. like raymond, charmaine, and most importantly, joe and sammi. also the year that i took a plane for the first time in my entire life. it was enjoyable. started uni in a flash, and it wasnt as enjoyable as what the seniors make uni life out to be.
5 foods i enjoy,
bread, bacon, egg, bak kwa, prawn
5 songs i know all the words to,
i have an excellent memory for lyrics, its true. i can still remember how to sing the theme song of golden pillow. hahaha so now i just anyhow list a few random songs:
ÏÓÄãÌ«ºÃ (yim nei tai hou)¨C flora chan
summer rain- fann wong
ÖÕÉúÃÀÀö (chung sang mei lai)- sammi cheng
ѧ»á (xue hui)- eVonne hsu
ÕæÐÄ»° (zhen xin hua)- fann wong
5 favourite television shows,
arrrrghhhh. why must i list out the categories that i have so many options?? haiz okay i shall list them out, probably according to my favourite of each artiste:
untraceable evidence II (flora)
triumph in the skies (flora, joe)
detective investigation files IV (jessica)
life for life (mariane)
into thin air (meiheng)
5 bad habits,
not bathing straightaway after coming home
bathing super slowly
late!!!!! (i must kick this habit asap)
sleeping late when i can actually sleep early, like now
eating super slowly
5 biggest joys,
having good grades
my family members and i being healthy and happy
meeting my idols
getting and/or doing the things i want
helping others and being appreciated
5 people i [might] tagged to do this quiz,
its optional, so even if your name appears here, you can don¡¯t do it if you don¡¯t like. likewise, if your name doesnt appear here, you can still do it if you like. im just putting the names of people who will probably do it:
eileen
jean
sarah
meiqi
grace

after lessons, i went to meet yimyiu to watch i not stupid too. the movie was great, with both comical and emotional elements blending in well. there were many scenes that were quite touching that the sniffs from the audience could be heard quite loudly. however, yimyiu and i agree that the ending could have been better, and the part with chengcai becoming an international boxer was so ridiculous. hahahaa.
spent a whole lot of time after movie to buy adel's long long ago belated birthday present. =P we were at ps walking around, when i spotted derrick hoh in front of me, walking towards my direction. i quickly told yimyiu and the two of us turned around and headed towards basement two. derrick and another girl were directly behind us on the escalator, and i told yimyiu to approach them for a photo. even though yimyiu likes derrick and she had seen him on the streets three times, she never had the courage to ask him for a photo. i initially wanted to, but they turned in another direction after leaving the escalator. and, it just felt weird if we were to turn around and talk to them.
sooo... we didnt get to take photos with derrick. yimyiu the chicken (she called herself that) now regrets being a chicken and regrets not taking photos with derrick. i felt quite wasted that we were so close and yet didnt take the chance. and it was only after leaving ps and i heard from yimyiu that the girl beside derrick was ruth!! ahhaha coz the moment i saw derrick i turned around, thus i didnt see ruth clearly. hahahaa.
watched closet affair and i realised the sentences which were said by liyi on the advertisements wasnt shown on screen. probably mda felt that the few statements offended some groups of people so they cut the part off. haiz all that media censorship. yongjie was amazed that papa and i really sat through the whole of just for gags, and laughing out to the silly antics and reactions from the people. the reason why such programs wont work in singapore is because singaporeans are mainly a bunch of people who cannot take jokes. can you imagine, singaporeans scolding the hell out of the people playing pranks on them, such as scaring them and let them make a fool out of themselves? its the culture that makes singaporeans such a serious lot of people.
i feel like im already on holiday. saw a bag from little match girl that costs only $15 coz its now on big sale. quite nice, but i didnt buy coz i need time to consider. and why did that article in 8 days come out only now??? the dear article on hdtv. grrr. a short and simple article sums up everything about hdtv. i could have done on that for 103. haiz.

this year's valentine's day is just like any other day. in the morning, almost all the cs people were rushing in between lectures to hand in 107 paper, and to print or bind the 105 report. quite a sight to see cs people so busy when most of the time everyone slacks at the benches doing nothing. three words to sum it up: last minute work, as mentioned by sarah. =) our 105 paper was alright, but we didnt check for mistakes carefully, so there were some mistakes and we had to go print them out. luckily everything came out fine.
went tampines to buy tvb weeklys and to walk around, since my projects are completed for the time being. but i didnt want to spend money so i didnt buy anything else other than the magazines.
came home, did the housework, rested in between and continued with housework until 10pm. watched herbalist affair episodes 1 and 2. at least now i get a clearer picture of the story, coz i was a bit lost when i started from episode 11.
watched virtues of harmony 2. i like watching the parts with ivan (steven ma) and michelle (linda chung), because it differs from the usual storyline and adds more drama to the otherwise comedy-like show. ive followed the ivan-michelle story from the part where michelle and ivan acted as lovers to get rid of michelle's suitors. then in between, ivan left for america and the story went back to the main leads (and the two babies who are absolutely adorable) and only recently the storyline came back to them. ahhaha shall follow the story every day. =)
downloaded a clip of into thin air. the person who posted the clip at mnfc said that the scenes in the clip are missing scenes from the television version of episodes 17 and 18, and these scenes only appear in the dvds. after watching the missing scenes, i realised that the scenes do not make much of a difference to the storyline. mainly about the twins part. but it certainly helps in one aspect. previously when i watched the show, it dawned on me that the only thing that disappeared "into thin air" was the photo that lai siu and dailo zheng took during their wedding photo shoot. the missing scene explains where the photo went. chey, and i thought the scriptwriters really made that as a food for thought to what actually went "into thin air". anyway, ITA is one of the very good shows from last year that was quite underrated. whereas war of the in laws was too overrated.
papa doesnt feel pain anymore, but he is still coughing. and he bought me a pair of shoes from jb, which, he said, was very cheap. =D i love my white watch. cheap and nice. watching all the meiheng shows, like herbalist affair and the coming riches and stitches. but i feel like watching le femme desperado and love guaranteed and tai gik... ahahaha the after-completing-a-million-projects syndrome.
11:51 p.m.
Monday, February 13, 2006
there were some booths set up outside canteen a today. my 105 groupies and i went to take a look, and alvina and i bought a watch each. hers was red metallic wrist band type, and mine's white classic leather type. oooh i like my watch.
finally finished my 107 article and 105 project! yippie. no more deadlines until after recess week. start watching herbalist affair 1-10 tomorrow.
papa met with a road accident this afternoon. he injured his neck and shoulders, he said it wasnt painful anymore, but he's down with a bad cough. so im taking care of him these few days until he recovers. luckily i finished all my current projects.
the recess week will be a week full of projects and tests yet again. 104, 105 and 816 projects. 103 and 801 midterms. haiz.

met up with rosy at causeway point before heading to the airport. first time meeting rosy. i think she's a nice person, but maybe a little too chatty, but otherwise she's really great. we didnt know the actual details of the trip, therefore we had to take chances. all we knew was that joe would be arriving in the afternoon, but an afternoon lasts for 6 hours, so we decided to be kiasu to reach there at 1pm. the first two flights that we waited for had no results. so we sat around at bk to chat and arrange our stuffs. eileen came to join us at 3pm, and we waited again at 325pm. it was either the 3 plus flight or the 4 plus flight, we guessed. then after some time spent spotting joe, i saw him from afar and got all excited. coz i didnt expect him to be really arriving on that flight, and we had waited for two previous empty flights.
when joe came out with miss pang and his assistant, we called and waved to him, and joe smiled back to us. shook his hand. and as usual i was too stunned for words. but miss pang said that joe will be rushing to suntec for rehearsals so he cant stay for too long, so the three of us took a photo with him each. rosy and i passed him our presents. and off he went......
i didnt talk a lot to joe, because all i said to him was about the present that i gave him. thats all. so no autographs taken today. sorry meiqi. after sitting down for about an hour, it was decided that we dont send joe off tomorrow. so i need not skip lessons.
thanks to rosy for the ride, pens and calendar. thanks to eileen for accompanying me and taking photos for me. sorry eileen, for giving you a blur photo in return and i forgot to pass you one pen.
my phone is cranky these few days. yesterday morning, it started having the "memory full" sign and i cant receive any messages from morning till evening, until i solved the problem. coz i pressed the camera button too many times, thats why the memory was full. and today it happened again, causing some messages to be unreceived. i got a shock when i saw the numerous black photos in the phone. so sorry to people who messaged me but i didnt return your message coz i didnt receive them at all.
bought the pluto cushion. yay. its so cute. my sources for 107 article have replied to my questions. but due to the late arrival of the answers, i think i have to work on my report tomorrow during break and after school. and we have exceeded the page limit for our 105 report. so now have to cut down the unnecessary parts. =(
lady fan is showing on tvbj at 730pm on weekdays. oh ive said that before. ok the next one is fresh news. but i guess nobody is interested, but heck la. riches and stitches is showing on tvbj at 10pm on weekdays from 16 feb onwards. yippie. there's meiheng in it. but im not sure whether i should tape it or just buy it. and worse thing is, there's no repeat telecast for that timeslot. haiz. shall think about it first.
joe and i. adel said i look like his daughter. hahahaa.
11:36 p.m.
Saturday, February 11, 2006
first time in this week that i slept for 10 hours. and i dreamt of papa scolding yongjie in a supermarket because of a shampoo. -_-" finished my part for 105, now im left with the introduction, conclusion and abstract for 105. adel and her soccer captain and vice-captain are helping me with the 107 interview. hopefully everthing comes in to me by tomorrow evening so that i can do everything tomorrow night.
next week's zhou ri ba dian dang will have eVonne as the special guest. hahaha have to watch. there's an influx of tvb dramas on both free-to-air mandarin channels. haiz. left two more projects before the recess week. yesterday when i was at the library photocopying shop, the radio played sammi's chu jie (over the boundaries). that, alone, was able to evoke all my memories of sammi's songs. aaah now im back to listening to sammi's songs, after listening to flora's songs for the past few weeks.

today
dictator didnt keep the promise of sending us the final copy of the paper. what im most worried is that she did not put our names on the paper. i'd kill her if she didnt put our names. enough said, i take it as if i met the wrong person, and ive learnt a valuable lesson- NEVER EVER work with dictator again. period.
finished my 103 paper. its because of the problems of that project that my 103 paper was constantly put on hold, and i managed to finish it only this morning. sailo asked me to buy toto for him, and that was when i got news about the ten million toto draw. so i bought for myself too. but we didnt win. instead, gujie won $20. better than nothing.
what is wrong with customer service staff nowadays? the photoshop that i went just now had staff so incompetent that i wanted to scream at them. staff told me that the photos will be ready in 20 minutes. 20 minutes later, i went back with the realisation that staff havent started with the photo printing at all!! quality service my foot. and i had to wait for yet another 20 minutes at the counter for four pieces of photos. and staff actually had the audacity to hand me only 2 pieces!! luckily i checked and got the other two pieces back with a fury face.
probably im stressed over the multiple deadlines, thats why i am easily frustrated and annoyed. so dont piss me off during this period of time; i will bite your head off.
thursday, 9 february 2006
that was one day i was absolutely angry in school. too angry that i cried. i dont wish to put the whole incident here, because the story is way too long and complicated. this is the first time such a large-scale internal conflict has occured in my project group. an ill-mannered, domineering, inconsiderate, unethical, obstinate and perfectionistic member in the group is the whole cause of the conflict. that probably summarised the whole event. if we get a B for the paper, i'd say that its her fault for exceeding the page limit even when the professor specifically said the paper should not exceed 8 pages, simply because whatever we told her fell on deaf ears. but she'd probably blame us for not elaborating further on the details which she over-focused on. however, she wont be able to blame us, because she had already removed all our contributions to the project on her own accord without even telling us and thus making the paper hers. if it gets an A, so be it. but if it gets a B, the perfectionist wont be happy, and that will be when she realise that what the professor wants is short and sweet elaboration. and i'd laugh out loud when we get a B.

during chinese cinema lecture, we watched city of sadness. 70% of the movie was in hokkien, 20% was in silent words, and 10% was in cantonese and taiwanese accented chinese. it didnt have a clear storyline, so i couldnt understand the movie. tony leung was in it but his character was deaf so his expressions were quite restricted. i think the movie was about how a family cope with their lives during the period after the japanese occupation in taiwan. the tempo was very slow. maybe its just that i dont know how to appreciate such films.
collected the photos that i havent developed for a long time. hubs' photos were nice, especially the one with me in it. tvbj is showing lady fan tomorrow because triumph in the skies just ended today. just for information's sake.
all the efforts invested were treated like trash. the feeling of seeing your hard work being flushed down the toilet bowl is unbearable. after pouring my discontent out in text twice, i got over it. they can do whatever they want to my effort. but whatever results it reaps, its either all their achievements or all their fault.

nothing much happened. during 104 tutorial, a caucasian student made a comment about dr lee's views, and dr lee responded to his thoughts. what was funny was that dr lee subconsciously (or purposely, i dont know) adopted the accent, and i thought it sounded weird coming out from him. but anyway, its of no importance.
during 107 lecture, chopra showed us a video about fox news. i thought it was very interesting and hilarious. but personally i dont agree with the way fox news operates. again, the paragraph is of no importance, but just for the sake of noting down events.

did housework, did schoolwork, and rewatched two episodes of fantasy hotel. every university student will be super busy around this time. for the whole of next week i see myself rushing projects from day to night. thankfully i finished my 104 draft project just now. if there are no problems after combining with the rest of my groupmates, then viola~! i will complete one project. but then again, i have 3 more 104 projects coming up. oh no...
i aim to finish all my current projects by friday.

today
did quite a lot of housework, did some research and did some work, and accompanied gujie to watch the conqueror's story. she got addicted to it, just like yongjie and i, that she borrowed boxes 2 and 3 home to watch. kiaying cancelled the cny visit to her house tomorrow, so now i have more time to work on my projects.
yunxin is probably not going for the singapore idol thing, so i dont know if anyone is going to do the crew thing with me. and i dont know how to go mediacorp. hopefully the briefing doesnt last too long.
had a nice phone chat with rosy. anyone wants to meet joe too? please inform me too coz i dont want to go alone. ive got the necessary details about his whole singapore trip from rosy who got it from miss pang, joe's manager. so i wont mention the details here unless you tell me that you are going with me. =)
want to chiong shows. but first and foremost, i have to complete my tonnes of projects at hand and fix the disc drive. then these are the following that im planning to buy/rent/borrow when im relatively more free, that is, hopefully, during and after the recess week:
1. crimson sabre (rent)
2. the great adventurer (buy)
3. secret of the heart (borrow from jasmine)
4. life made simple (rent)
5. herbalist affair episodes 1-10 (borrow from eileen)
eileen, your herbalist affair episodes 11-20 is still with me. when do you want to get it back? i can meet up with you, but preferably not the coming weekend coz i will be very busy. do inform me when you want it back ok? =)
friday, 3 february 2006
friday is one of the slackest days, other than tuesday and wednesday. if there arent any 103 papers to hand in next week, that is. but overall this friday was good, especially since ive had 2 consecutive lousy fridays.
met up with yimyiu, kiaying, michelle and grace after school to celebrate grace's birthday. went to crystal jade la mian xiao long bao, and we had a great time there chatting about everything and snapping photos of everything. ahahah. out of the two xiao long baos that i ate, one broke before it went into my mouth and the soup dripped onto the plate below the dianxin steamer. i had wanted to take the soup from the plate, but the waitress came to collect it back before i had a chance to say goodbye to the jing1 hua2 of the xiao long bao. =(
caught a bit of the chingay rehearsals, but we left after a while coz it was pretty boring.

the day when technology fails. nowadays, as i do my 105 project regarding how online instant messaging affects social relationships, i kind of feel that even though the current technology is very advanced, we should never be over-reliant on it, because you will never know which day it decides to fail you by crashing or spoiling for no apparent reason. communication through instant messaging, based on what ive experienced today, is very much insincere. some people just text to ask for help, or to enquire on something, but what lacks in it is the basic manners. basic courtesy which i feel is of utmost importance when communicating with others, whether in reality or virtually. no thanks, no hello, no goodbye, etc. probably because these manners seem insignificant and redundant in online messaging. but in my opinion, if online messaging makes a person so ill mannered, i can imagine how that person will communicate with others in real life. i seldom leave a conversation without saying goodbye, and if i did, its either i was disconnected, or the other party left before i did. this simple and straightforward method of communication reflects the user's true character in reality. maybe its just me, but i never have good impressions of people who are rude online. if they are too lazy to type a word of thanks or to bid goodbye, what makes you think they will bother saying it out to people in reality?
another point that i experienced today was the assumption that online messaging is fast and direct. that is not true. no matter how fast it works, it simply cannot override the immediate response received from a face-to-face conversation or a telephone conversation. people who are away from their computer but do not put a sign to inform others will take a million years to reply your messages. i felt as if i was talking to myself. it is during times when technology fails to reach the high expectations of people that we realise its imperfections, and we can only have ourselves to blame for entrusting too much confidence in it, resulting in the problems faced in technology crises.
during 107 tutorial, my phone says "SIM crash" three times, and i got frantic coz that never happened in the past year that i had this phone. luckily no information was erased. when i was helping adel to burn discs, the disc drive couldnt read the discs at all, so now it cannot read any disc, original or pirated. i was so pissed with my disc drive. i have to ring up a technician to fix the problem for me asap.
i have no mood to do any projects now because of the cranky disc drive. deadlines are crashing in very soon and all the events just seem to come on weekends. which are the best days to chiong projects. no matter what, the afternoon of 12 feb is taken. no one can make me skip the 12 feb appointment. coz im meeting up with joe.
