OH MY GOD. This just in - NICK VALENSI NOT MARRIED AFTERALL.
OH MY GOD2; from MTV:
"Ryan Adams, James Iha and members of the Strokes will be the guest DJs this weekend in New York at Misshapes, an event held every Saturday at Luke & Leroy's in the West Village. ..."
This shit is not even funny. I was always a mentalwhore for the misshapes party but this is just waaay too much. Oh my god I'm speechless.

This other night I had the most wonderful dream. Usually I have no rockstar, or any other idol or crush -related dreams but this was an exquisite exception. In my dream I was at this überhip, kinda secret thing where lots of great, known bands were doing shows for only a small amount of people. And then I went to watch The White Stripes who had just begun their show. People were kinda just standing there and I worked my way past them with my lousy camera to get a close shot of Jack, who had jumped off the stage and was doing his thing in the audience. I was worrying about my camera working but managed to get an okay shot of Jack, who was just inches away and noticed my attempts. Then suddenly he just threw his arm around me and grabbed my camera mid-song and took a pic of us two whilst performing. He was all sweaty and flushed from screaming. I was like, go me, now I can show everyone I've met Jack fucking White! Then I think I woke up feeling more than ready to face the day.
I reckon this has something to do with the Jolene video being played on mtv and my recently re-discovered love for certain TWS songs. After listening to a lot of bands you can truly tell who are the cream of the crop. So sad they're breaking up. I need to get that live album.
I've also been listening to a lot of U2. They have an astounding amount of songs that are both honestly great and succesful hits. Might muse more on them later on.
Last night my heart fell apart from tv-caused happiness when Smith shaved his and Samantha's head on Sex and the City to show his support for cancer-ridden Sam. Best tv show ever. evereverever. And it's over, too. Bummer. Like TWS and Friends.
Today I was in Helsinki trying to decide what to study next year and what to become. It was this huge thing where different schools and universities were giving out information and leaflets to all of us seniors. There were too many people there so I just grabbed a load of stuff to read, got pens and lots of candy. I still don't know what to do with my life tho, I'm sure time will tell.
Off to watch Charles 2 - The Power and The Passion. These historic stories have forever fascinated me, and this one promises to have sex and violence in it too! Goodness! And someone's head already got chopped off.
Silly entry, I know, but hey at least I'm doing'em now :>
I can tell that we are going to be friends

Saturdays just don't feel like Saturdays anymore. This used to be my absolute favorite day of the week. I would just sleep late, lounge around, do nothing, then see friends and go to a bar. Well now that I'm working my Saturdays, when I come home I'm all beat. Like last night, I think I slept only like an hour or so and then I was yawning like crazy at work. Then I came home and just had the enrgy to curl up and watch a Mary-Kate and Ashley movie. Oh and the firm I work for didn't pay me all the money I've earned so I had to complain a bit and they promised I'd get my moolah. They better pay me good.
Umm I really, really like Ryan Adams right now. I'm hooked to this New York, New York song but people said to me his best is another called The Drugs Aren't Working or something like that. I'm a tad ashamed I don't know mister Adams that better.
Julian says;
"We're gonna make sure we do it right this time and not feel so rushed," singer Julian Casablancas revealed to NME. "I don’t want it to sound like the first two records. I want it to feel different and new, so we're gonna have to sit down and think about it, work on a bunch of different things. We're gonna take our time to find sounds rather than just plugging in our guitars and saying 'That sounds cool'. We'll check out the options a bit more."
Umm, who'da thought!? Good for them boys to try and stay in the game. It's not 2001 anymore.
Do yourself a favor and listen to KASABIAN here. It's the full album, folks!
Then have some more KASABIAN in the form of live pics. Mm I can feel the power.
By the way I ditched the tagboard for good now that I got the Haloscan comments to work. Hasta la vista baby.
I wish I could buy back the woman you stole

Yay we gonna have a theme party tonight. I'm excited!!
Edit@3.43pm
OMG hahaha I just went to make me a pot of coffee. PDA by Interpol was playing in my room, and suddenly mom just went all "what's that music? It sounds a bit weird, doesn't it?" I just mumbled something back, I was so shocked. Hahaha. She usually makes no comments whatsoever about my choices of music.

Okay so first of all, I promised to post a link to this amazing Libertines' fansite, Spirit of Albion, ages ago. I especially enjoyed the quotes section. "Pete - "Until I was nine years old I thought 'c***' was a term of endearment."
Link originally found from Atchoo.
After a brief exhaustion [hahahahAH] I'm back to discovering bunches and oodles of new music. I already wrote about LSF by Kasabian getting stuck in my head, well, they do it again and again for me. Check out the previous single Reason is Treason, the next single Processed Beats, or such tunes as Club Foot and Cutt Off if you haven't heard about them already. I bet they're gonna hit it big time within a year. And Tom is SO CUTE! And Serge! Ooh, aah. *drools* But they're redundant as fuck when they're drunk or high.
I just recently got Antics by Interpol and the Libs' s/t. Both are fantastic as ever. Antics, in my opinion, is a giant step forward for Interpol. I like it a lot more than Turn on the Bright Lights, even tho I know many disagree with me. The songs differ and are more melodic than before, and I love that.
The Libs' cd, well I had known the songs for some months already so the only new thing was the hidden track just after likely lads. And what a pretty tune it is, you know how I fall for the simplest of acoustics.
It's a pain to live here in Finland since not many artists come here for a gig. Everyone goes to Stockholm or Copenhagen or Hamburg but what's wrong with crossing the pond and heading to Helsinki? It sucks, I'm telling you. It's been a year now since Muse was here, and oh boy what a brilliant, astonishing set that was. Now that they're taking over the US market, I'm not holding much faith they would come here anymore, even tho they've been to Finland many times before. Soundtrack of our lives is coming here for a club gig in December, maybe I'll go see them. I heard they're good.
Hey everyone, if you listen to music on your computer, get a Audioscrobbler plug-in and then befriend me. I've found a whole bunch of good music from this thing and I'd love to hear what you hear.

This is gonna be a quickie too. Just so you know, I've become quite aware there a lots and lots of very fine sites that refer to this blog as "The Strokes Blog". Which I find rather flattering but misleading as well. I think I never was solely about The Strokes but other music and things I am into as well. All the pop culture is my thing, yo. So as many of you come to my blog through one of these links, I'm sorry if you're disappointed but keep an open mind and maybe you'll read some other more or [usually] less interesting babbling here. The archives are still found, it's about one year of musical and lingual development there my babies.
Also, I know I'm updating very randomly and seldom these days but this time it's only because of school pressure and such shite. I promise, promise, promise to get my act together once and for all next month. Got sooo much to say. Mainly about The Libertines at the moment though :)
Hahhhaha and I KNOW I've only got like two frequent readers or maybe not even so many anymore. So, love for Atchoo and Harm and all you random folks too.

Argh I can't get that new Kasabian song LSF outta my head. What a cliché to fall for another new NME darling but hey, I'm a right sucker for a catchy tune. Or as the guys call it themselves, ectoplasm rock. Now, I know the Kasabian dudes admire the likes of The Libertines and Franz Ferdinand for creating new sounds and being 'experimental' but I think I saw them diss The Strokes somewhere. You know I do wonder what the next Strokes' album is gonna be like. They got so much backlash for Room on Fire sounding quite a bit like an Is This It part 2. Well I unconditionally love their sound but maybe Julian's gonna come up with some, umm, fresher stuff this time. Ah and one more thing about Kasabian, I don't understand why they play them and Razorlight and Bloc Party and whatnot on MTV but never Libs. If I was a snob about my music, I'd say good for Libs to stay outta the mainstream but still. And for all I know, they might be showing Libs' videos on the british MTV or wherever all the time... but I doubt it.
Right now I'm listening to a playlist of Franz b-sides. Most of these I know for sure to be theirs but there's one I never had heard of before finding it on WinMX; Love and Destroy. I'm pretty certain it is FF but is it a b-side or just some random recording? I should just google it I guess. But it does sound good, I recommend it. However, I'm still not all that keen on Shopping for Blood.
Now this is no-one's interest except mine but I'm still going to rant here about my dislike for Fat Joe. I always thought he was a murder inc blingwannabe of no value. Yes, they've struck gold with Lean Back, but the video makes me wanna throw up on his image. What the fuck is up with that huge picture of him, with the bitches shakin their stuff next to it? Like he's dead or something and his presence is in the form of a photo like they do in american memorial services. And the rapper chick is such a Lil Kim rip-off. The best part of the video, however, is near the end when the girl is driving a car and lifts this guy's head off her lap. Brilliant!

Brief update;
-I got saturday-work, YAY. Money is a great thing to have when you're such a reckless spender as I am.
-I've got my first two HUGE finals [english and this other one where you must now a fuckload of stuff about various subjects such as history, geography, biology, chemistry and so on] coming up the next few weeks so I shouldn't waste my time online.
-I started exercising [fuck, I never know how to spell that word!!!] again and it feels good. I think I've gained a little too much lard over my bones.
-I really want/need/must get Chutes too narrow by The Shins, like, now.
-I really really am addicted to that stupid marvellous fanfic Let's Go/Pictures of you/Hand in glove and because I spend so many hours reading it last night I slept a little too late this morning and missed some 4hours of school. Oh well!
And now my friends, I'm off to watch the bold and the beautiful. Yes, that's the sad person I've become.
Well, I'll confess all of my sins after several large gins

You know what? I really am fascinated by that Ashlee Simpson girl. I like her show on mtv, I like her hairstyles, I like her outfits and I can't stop listening to those singles of her's. Just so refrshing and pleasing. She's becoming quite a trendsetter too as her big sis already is, but luckily she isn't following her steps musicwise. Who the fuck gave Jessica the rights to rape Robbie's Angels? Robbie himself? The remake is as awful as her entire performance at the VMA's last week. And on a sidenote, I saw Robbie's new video today and I haven't been that disappointed in ages. Totally forgettable.
Random whoa-moment of the day; Lindsay Lohan supports The Strokes Anyway, are the new Strokes single and video ever gonna come out?
Popstars2 began airing here today which I, as always, found to be the best entertainment ever. I ain't sure if there's one single Popstars-band in the world that has done a good job carrying on with their ready-made career but it sure is exciting seeing them get their act on. Our first Popstars band just decided to quit after 2 fairly successful albums. I won't be left mourning.
Oh and props for Muse's Chris Wolstenholme for the quick recovery. Back to conquer the world, then. As usual.
In an interstellar burst, I am back to save the universe

Hell-oo, guess who's back? Well I most deffo hope I am.
Summer went fine but waay too fast. Worked at the library, went out a lot, got intoxicated a lot, even had the time and the moolah to rock one festival. 'Twas all really very nice and I miss the warm days already.
You know how music can often get linked to memories and seasons? Well since autumn is attacking, I'm starting to get quite nostalgic with my music. I'm yearning to listen to Muse [MicroCuts!! Screenager!] again as well as my beloved The Strokes because I was so very into them both last fall. Coldplay's Parachutes or Jeff Buckley's Grace are too my number one choices for staring out of the window at the pretty colors of the fall with a cup of coffee heating up my hands. I remember how I used to always listen to Lauryn Hill during the darker months, with some candles lit up. I guess I could spin her cd, too.
Haven't spent too much money in music lately. Got Sondre Lerche's Faces Down US edition, Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Fever to Tell and Suede's Singles most recently. Next it's imperative to get The Libertines' selftitled album, The Strokes live at Alexandra Palace and probably The Zutons. I already know the new Libs' cd to be sheer brilliance since I got the whole thing as mp3's a couple of months ago. It's been accused of sounding a tad too unfinished or demo-ish but I just find it charming, really! I hope Pete's doing fine. But in the meanwhile I'll concentrate on Carl's manly lustness.
I've been sweeped off my feet by this lovely Strokes-fanfic called Hand in Glove. Altho pure fiction, it makes me love Craig Nichols a lot more. Oh, that sweet cherub he is. Also in Strokes-related issues, I was sad to see Nick Valensi ditch the mullet. NOO, WHY. That said, I'm a bit out-dated concerning strokes-happenings so I guess I have some major catching up to do before I get this thing up and running on full force again. But I want you all to know I'm wounded by not getting that fanclub dvd In Transit. It's not my fault I have no way of joining that elusive shizzle.
Soo, this has been a brief update on where I'm at and it couldn't be complete without a list or two.
Hawtest music of the moment:
Jay-Z
The Killers (hot fuss is actually now being released here)
Kanye West
The Libertines
The Prodigy (the WHOLE career)
Radiohead
A few songs, too!
Shapeshifters: Lola's theme
The Shins: Young pilgrim (I refuse to get tired of this)
System of a Down: Chop suey
Weezer: Island in the sun
Maroon 5: She will be loved
Snook: Mister Cool
