killing more time

I don't have classes today and our call time is still at 6pm. But I don't want to stay here at home and bum around. I'm going to school in a while.

Arg, in COSK2 class, Em and I decided to get out of our seperate groups and form our own. She didn't like her group, and my group is composed of Chevy and 2 other guys who hardly do any work. Actually, I can work with Chevy, and our topic is pretty easy, because it's related to theater. But Em is the one person I know who's really responsible about work, and doesn't spend time dilly-dallying. But Em wants to do a thesis on film, which is pretty hard to do not because of the research materials, but the form of research. Theater is easy for me coz I know a lot of connections. Film is different, coz the Philippine cinema is practically dying. Arg. I don't want to switch groups anymore coz Mrs. Rico might think I'm a whiner.

Anyway.

Last night's show was pretty smooth. We got Topdog selling food in the lobby. MMmmmmmmm. ^_^ I got Joel's quickest costume change down pat. He just said, "Piece of cake" before he leisurely put on his vest. Eheheheh.

Oh yeah, Lawyn watched the show tonight. I took her backstage to see Tita Menchu.

premiere night

Haven't blogged in a while. Been so tired for the past few days. Tired but having fun.

We had our press preview last night and had an audience for the very first time. They served us cocktails in the lobby. It's not dinner, but it was good to fill our stomachs a bit before the show. Eheheheh, everything went well, except for the part that I got Joel's vest all backwards when he put it on, so after the show he showed me how tole hold it up for him.

Aside from that, Tita Menchu and Joel were so sweet. They gave us crew members little presents. We each got a Nu Skin soap from Joel, and an "organic" (referring to her line) soap from Tita Menchu.

Today was the first real show. Wow. It was pretty exciting. Everything was even better. This evening Michael gave us these little pins. I got one that said "OK" (heeheehee, and to think that I love saying "okie" ^_^). Miss Bernice also gave us Atlantis "goody bags", which contained a Proof poster, a Proof souvenir program, a Proof T-shirt, and a company photo. The funny thing was that Chester rang my phone after the show, so I knew he watched the play. He called me up again and I invited him to go backstage to see Tita Menchu and Lea. Chari recognized him as the kid who watched Rent practically every night and called him "Renthead". Chester even told Tita Menchu that he's going to watch the show every night again. Gee, how come I'm not surprised? ^_^

I'd better get some sleep now. Another show tomorrow. Wish me luck!

This is creepy. It really shows the real me.

My anthem is "Hand in my Pocket", by Alanis Morissette.
I coined the phrase "It's all good." I can see a bright side to every dark point in life, since everything in life is a delicate balance of good and bad. I can be a little childish at times, but that's just part of the whole inner peace thing...
Find out what YOUR anthem is HERE!

tired...

I was supposed to blog yesterday, but I was too tired. Actually, right now, I'm still tired.

We rehearsed on the stage for the first time yesterday. THe stage was still in the completion stage, actually. The floor was newly painted, and the screen door won't cooperate with us.

Then I realized that I only had to do one quick change, and it was only in Act 2. So Miss Bernice let me join Krissy and Botch (Krystal) in the props. My part was actually pretty easy...except the last scene change. All three of us, along with Miss Bernice, have to strike most of the props. I'm feeling guilty of being the big (slowpoke) problem. I have to move 3 big boxes behind the screen door plus strike 8 props off the counter. Arg, I didn't make it.

What's more is that we crew members had to leave late last night for a cue-to-cue.

As for today, the cast had a day off while the rest of us still have to trudge to GSIS. Since the carpenters are still fixing the stage during the morning, Krissy was shopping for supplies, and Krystal hasn't arrived yet, Miss Bernice let me stay inside the audience area to relax. Krystal arrived an hour after I did, and Krissy arrived during lunch.

After lunch, the carpenters were still at work, so the three of us worked on the proof notebooks, removing the price stickers and covering the front with a black strip so it won't be obvious that it's really a record notebook. We worked on that until 3 pm.

When we finally did another cue-to-cue, I was relieved to find that 2 of the 3 boxes that I had to move were already attached to each other, and Krissy brought 2 file boxes to use when we strike the props. The box has handle holes so it's easier to carry around. Nyak, the boxes and the props were still a problem to me because the last box was still separate, and the props made a lot of noise (there were a couple of clay pots and breakable stuff). Arg.. I have to remember to strike the trophy somewhere in Act 1 so I have one less prop to remove. And Rog finally glued the last box after the cue-to-cue rehearsal.

The actors will be back tomorrow, and it will be a dress-tech rehearsal, so I have to wear black.

I need to practice striking the props. Arg. And I'd better remember to bring a pillow so the props won't make much noise when I toss them into the box.

i'm missing him...

I went to school this morning to check if Sir Gerry was at the SDA. Unfortunately, Krystal told me that he'd get there at 5 in the afternoon, when I'll be at GSIS already. Oh well.

Since Archer went to school today as well, I met up with him. At least going to school wasn't a waste with him around. We haven't seen each other during the whole term break, and we missed each other so much. He's been so clingy today in a sweet kind of way. He was so sweet all morning, and he even brought up an interesting topic that we talked about a few days before through text messaging. ^_^

We parted ways at around 12:30 or so, when he boarded a bus and I went the opposite and got on one of those orange jeepneys that go around the CCP Complex.

Another run today, and during the break, Lea reminded everyone not to make any jokes before Act Two. Eheheheh, well, nothing changed. Bobby brought up how it all started with Joel's Abyss story. When the run was finished, bobby gave his usual "Great run today."

The set's almost finished. I finally know where the quick change area is (and Krystal gave me a copy of the quick changes before rehearsal started). The way they made the bricks look real was so cool.

Oh by the way, it's Krystal's birthday today! ^_^

"pretty good after being away for 3 days"

That heading was what Lea actually said during rehearsal today. Even though we had a 3-day vacation, rehearsal today was pretty good.

I commuted to GSIS alone for the first time today. My dad drove me home and back during the last two rehearsals. I was getting guilty that he's been chauffeuring me around, so I told him that I can already commute there on my own. It was actually pretty easy. I can easily commute from school to the theater.

Speaking of theater, I finally saw the stage during today's break between acts. It's only half finished, but it looks pretty cool. The walls really looked like they were made of old bricks. Cool! ^_^

It seems that there's always a funny line or joke right before Act Two starts. Today, it was about Rog, the sound guy. Bobby was teasing him to Lot, one of the crew, so he called him "Monching", like that local 80s TV couple named "Lotlot and Monching". When Bobby cued him for the music at the beginning of Act Two, he called him "Monch". So when Lea entered the scene and looked at Michael, she suddenly burst out laughing. Krystal and I were also chuckling at stage left.

The cast is gonna be in costume tomorrow for the first time. And we're moving into the theater on Friday. I can't wait.

a new year

!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!

It's finally 2002. Another year. Oh well.

Oh, by the way, to Renee who signed my guestbook, I accidentally deleted you gbook entry before I even read it. I'm really sorry.

Anyway, what happened tonight? Nothing much. Waited for my dad to come home from church, then my brother and I went outside to light the fireworks. We mostly had Roman candles and fountains, but it was fun. It was one of the times that my brother and I got to have a lot of fun without fighting. Plus it was a great oppotunity to act like kids again. ^_^

When my family and I were eating, I noticed the bottle of Spanish wine that my brother bought. I was thinking of taking a teeny sip, but ended up not taking in even just one drop. Funny, but I don't have a single drop of wine or chanpagne or any alcohol in my body. ^_^ Oh well. I guess it goes to show that I'm really still a kid at heart.

welcoming the new year

Got this from Chris:

Alice

You're just a girl; you tend to get frustrated easily, you daydream quite a bit, and you try to avoid making trouble, though curiosity always gets the better of you. Even under tight circumstances, however, you put aside (some of) your fear and figure out what's the best thing to do. You want a better understanding of your world.

Yup, it really is the real me. ^_^

Oh well. Anyway.

Was on my feet practically the whole morning. After breakfast, I had to sweep and dust most of the rooms in the house, including my own. I was sneezing when I started, but I managed to stop after a while. I'm kinda allergic to dust. I guess that's why my aunt didn't make me dust a lot when she was still at home.

After dusting, I had to stay in the kitchen with my mom to help her with lunch. Then I had to fold the just washed laundry in the annex. Oh well, at least when I was there, I was kinda taking it easy. I got to watch some TV while folding the laundry.

I was finally free when I finished washing the dishes after lunch. Oh well. The hassles when you don't have a housekeeper during the holidays.

Speaking of which, this is the second year that I feel so lonely during the holidays. For some reason I always have that empty feeling inside me. That kind of feeling when you feel so far away from a loved one.

I love you, honey. Happy New Year.

a good rehearsal

Went to Proof rehearsal again this afternoon. Krissy asked me to go at around 1:30, so I did. Miss Bernice was there, too, and we talked about how my scehdule could be a problem. My HISFURN class was a big hindrance to the show, coz it's a 5-8 pm class on Tuesdays. And they need me on Tuesdays. That means I have to go to school during course adjustment day to change my schedule because of that one subject. Oh well, whatever happens, I hope I won't be too delayed.

The cast did a full run today of the whole two acts. I finally knew the entire story. I got a little confused the other day because I didn't know where we were. Now it got pretty interesting. I saw every scene, so I have to know who needs quick costume changes.

While we were all taking a break between Act One and Act Two, we were all laughing at how Krissy copied down lots of formulas (formulae?) from her BMAT book onto one of the notebooks. When Lea and the others saw it, we joked around that if the audience saw that there were actual formulas, they would go, "Ooooh, look, it's for real!" or "Heyyyy, Lea is really a math genius!" And it all started from there. What got us rolling in our seats was actually Joel's story about the time he watched The Abyss in the movie theater. Some person behind him was telling someone else the entire story the whole time. And when it got to the end, where there was this huge alien (I don't really know coz I haven't watched it), one guy asked the other, "O, ano naman 'yan?" ("And what's that?") and the other guy said, "Ah, ayan si Abyss!" meaning the guy who was telling everything referred to the alien, and it was named Abyss! Our sides were aching when Joel reached the punchline. Lea couldn't stop laughing even though it was already time for her entrance for Act Two, Scene One! We had to wait for her to stop laughing. We were all cracking up! It was so funny! That's one quote that will end our 2001 on a high note. ^_^

I really admire Lea and Tita Menchu's acting. Everything was really fresh. They didn't make the play boring even though you've seen it already. They keep trying out new things. That's pretty cool. Heeheehee, I even glanced at Tita Menchu's script every now and then when she sat beside me on the sofa. I checked out her notes for future reference. *grin*

It was a good rehearsal, really. The run was pretty good, and I could hear compliments and praises when Bobby was giving the notes to the cast.

When it was all over, we all wished each other a happy new year before we left. I managed to greet even Mike and Joel, but I still couldn't move an inch towards Lea. What the heck is wrong with me?!?

Oh well, at least I got to have one of those huge muffins Joel brought. He offered me one before I left, and it was huge. Pretty tasty, too. Yum. ^.~

I'm going back to rehearsal on Jan 2nd. I can't wait till then. ^.^

a late Christmas present?

I believe that Somebody up there loves me, and gave me a late Christmas present. Something that I could really kill to get. And I got it.

An OJT with Lea Salonga. *grin*

I met up with Krissy half an hour early at the GSIS theater. We were standing outside the rehearsal room when a white van pulled up...and Lea emerged from it. For some reason, I knew I was going to gawk at her if I looked, so I didn't. I get so dumb when she's near. Funny how I don't get starstruck, but when it's with Lea Salonga, it comes in truckloads.

I was pretty quiet in the rehearsal room, while everyone else was talking. Krissy was even asking if I was OK. Eheheheheh, yup, sure.

My Zobel batchmate, Sheila, was there with her sister and a couple of guys (one of them was an ABS-CBN TV personality, but I forgot his name) to interview the cast, by the way. The cast also includes Michael de Mesa and Joel Trinidad.

Krissy, Krystal (another crew member) and I were looking at a magazine that featured Lord of the Rings when the director, Bobby Garcia, commented that "it's so quiet when Menchu's not around." Eheheheh, sure enough, Tita Menchu arrived 5 mintues later. And one of the first that she saw was me, and boy, was she surprised. So I told her what I was doing there, and even joked that I was stalking her. Joel was pretty surprised that even though I hardly knew anyone (besides Krissy and Bernice the stage manager, who was my Introer teacher), of all the people in the cast I knew Menchu. So Tita Menchu and I told them about how we met in Trumpets Playshop.

So anyway, when the real rehearsal began, I watched Lea in awe. She was so focused even though some of us started chuckling at the funny lines. And I admire how they shift to and from their characters.

Wow.

That's all I can say. Wow.

I'm still speechless.

Eep, I almost forgot. I still have to tell Krissy about my 3rd term schedule so I can work around my classes in January. Good thing my bro just reloaded my phone with credits.

after last night

I had a YFC Campus Core meeting yesterday. We were supposed to meet at McDonald's beside DLSU at around 10 am, but people started coming really late. Arg, I hate "Filipino time". With that, nothing gets done.

We were supposed to go to Erika's house when we were complete, so we ended up leaving McDonald's at around 1pm. Grrr... And when we got there, we first watched a little TV before we started working. And Khalil even started one of his famous tantrums just to get everything in order. Jeez. How come people love dilly-dallying even when there's so much work to be done?

One funny thing that happened started with Kitin and me. My classmate from 1st term's Introer (Introduction to Theater), Krissy, sent her a text message, mentioning an OJT (on-the-job training) at the GSIS theater, with the company that's doing Proof. That was the show that Lea Salonga's gonna be in next month! And Krissy was offering the slot to Kitin! I was so happy for her, really, but I was also kinda jealous. And Kitin was having second thoughts about taking the job, coz she's already committed to YFC's Dance Ministry.

I got the biggest surprise when I was chatting with Archer last night. I had just told him about the OJT, when suddenly Krissy called. And she offered the OJT slot to me! WOOHOO! I get to work on PROOF! Archer, you're such a good luck charm! I love you! *mwah* ^.~ So today, I'm meeting Krissy at the GSIS theater at 2 o'clock. I can't wait.

cleaning my room

A Merry Christmas to everyone!

Normally after going to church, I go back to sleep. But not today. I spent the morning cleaning my room. My mom's always saying that my room's a mess. But I just keep it that way so I'll know if she or someone else is pawing through my stuff.

But anyway, when I looked at my room today, it looked...disorganized. And with the new year and new school term just around the corner, I need to clear some space for the upcoming messes. ^_^

I don't know how long I took going through all my papers and stuff. I made a pile for each category: notes, trash, handouts to keep for future reference, play scripts, art supplies, and other stuff. I didn't realize how many scripts I owned until I put them in one corner (or maybe it was because of the extra My Emperor's New Clothes I had for the cancelled touring musical I joined as assistant stage manager?)

Then I come across something I wrote on some notebook paper. I have to admit, I used to enjoy writing different kinds of stuff for the heck of it. And this certain essay is about the same thing I was doing when I found it. Here it is. I believe I wrote it before I started school in CSB to remind me to think about happier thoughts.

Digging Through Memories

One of the first things I did to prepare myself for the new schoolyear was to clean up my room. I have to admit, I only tidy up my bedroom occasionally. My timing was pretty good, because my parent’s decided to clean up the annex of our house that same day.

Our annex mostly contains boxes of our old stuff. Things that my brother and I used to keep in our study table and desk drawers, and then put away because we didn’t need them anymore. All the stuff in the boxes go way back from when we were both under ten years old. Books, old notes, worksheets, handouts, sheet music, magazines, old photos, letters, and a whole lot more.

There were at least two big boxes there that were crammed full of stuff that only belonged to me. My parents even said that I had to most “junk” than everyone else combined. And because I didn’t have enough space in the house to keep them all, we unanimously decided to give most of them away. I may have outgrown most of the stuff, but I still had to go through all of them to decided which were the ones I still decided to keep. Because it had sentimental value, I said.

I hauled the boxes to the garage and literally dumped out the contents on the floor. Let’s see now. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I realized how many books I actually owned throughout the years. Sweet Valley, Baby-Sitters Club, Archie and Harvey comic books, Alex Mack, Nancy Drew, Bobbsey Twins, Star Trek, Sweet Dreams, Love Stories... and a lot more. No wonder I had to wear glasses since fourth grade.

Looking at all those books, I smiled at the memory when I kept begging my mom to take me to the bookstores every time we went to the malls. I never come out empty-handed. And to my mom’s amazement, I would finish the book the following evening. And I also remember all those times my friends kept borrowing my books and never return them. Okay... do I still need these? Well, the kids next door would love reading these, since they’re old and pretty hard to find these days.

The same goes for my magazines. Teen Beat, 16, Bop, Seventeen--my friends would grab at every one of my latest magazines just to catch a glimpse of their fave Hollywood crushes. I guess stopping by the nearest National Bookstore everyday after track and field training was the reason my savings were wiped out. I laughed out loud at the memory that I hardly noticed that a couple of people passing by outside stared at me in bewilderment. They probably thought I was crazy, standing in the middle of piles of books and papers.

Then a big bright green box caught my eye. When I opened it, it almost exploded, because I used to keep all my best friends’ letters in that box. My two best friends and I loved writing letters to each other back when we were still in high school. I tried reading all of them again that very evening, and when I looked at the clock when I had finally finished, it was already past two in the morning. But I fell asleep with a smile, reminiscing all those stories we wrote in our letters about classroom crushes, anime drawings and school projects. Those letters made school a lot easier to deal with.

One look at a box of photos made me stop sorting the mess and look at each picture. Each one brought another memory. There were photos carefully posed so that our crushes would be candidly included, funny barkada shots at our regular tambayan, and even a bunch of us pushing each other into swimming pools. All those were the times when we were all still together in high school. Now that we’re all in college, it seems like we never find the time to hang out anymore.

It’s touching how much we treasure the memories we had with our friends in high school. I know I do. In high school, we spend most of our time with our friends rather than with anyone else. Even when we go off to college, we always manage to keep our high school friends close to us.

Wow, was I that bored when I was still bumming for 5 months? Oh well. ^.~

reminiscing dorm life

Still thinking of how to improve my pretty lame site. Saw some sites that look pretty inspiring today. I think I'll work from scratch tomorrow when I find time.

Iam called this evening! Haven't talked to her for quite a while. It was great hearing her voice again. Dang, the hassles of living in a dorm far from home.

Thank goodness I got away from dorm life (no offense, Iam). When I first started dorming, I thought it was gonna be pretty cool. But my roomies fought a lot, and since I was the youngest and had nothing to do with their agruments, I got used to sleeping through their loud talking.

I liked my second dorm better. I made friends in my building as well as the other two. I visited other rooms frequently (though we're not really allowed to do so) just to hang out and talk. We ate meals together, bonded a lot, stayed up until the wee hours together, went out shopping together, and all that. I even had a blockmate who was in the same dorm, so we became really close up to the point of being almost best friends. Despite how grateful I am to get out of there because of homesickness, I missed dorm life because of all the friends I made.

Oh well, c'est la vie.

family friends visiting

My 'rents are friends with this couple who lives in Quezon City coz they all used to live in the same apartment back when they were all still living and working in Saudi Arabia. Today Tito "Big Boy" and Tita Tessie went to our house for an afternoon visit. With them was their son, Ian, one of my childhood friends.

The only thing I could remember about Ian was that he used to tease me that I was so dumb at math (yup, I was, and I guess I still am, but I'm less lazier at it now) when both our families were traveling around the US. We all ran into each other in some airport in Cali, and that's all he did. Back then, I thought that he ruined my vacation because of that. Plus I thought that it was his fault that I lost my best watch in the airport.

Not only did Ian come with his parents, but he also brought his wife and 2 toddler kids with him. I can't believe that he actually has a wife and two kids already, and we're both the same age. We're both 20 years old, and my 'rents are still treating me like a kid, while his own 'rents are beaming grandparents. Ey, I'm not saying that I want to settle down already. I doubt that I'll settle down in the next 15 years.

Anyway, on to other things.

Hmmm...I wonder when will I find the time to jazz up my site this Christmas vacation.

Chatting with Cisanne on Yahoo! Messenger right now. I wonder when Archer will go online?

a phone convo at midnight

Archer was at a party last night, and since I missed hearing his voice, I decided to give him a call using my cellphone. Heeheehee. It felt great to hear his voice again. finally!

Archer sent me a text message from someone else's phone (I think it was one of his brothers' phone), telling me that there's something wrong with his own phone. *relief* He really had me worried for about a day there. Heeheehee, he even said that he hoped that I shopped for "non-kiddy" clothes. Oh well.

My mom and I went to ATC today to spend the Rustan's gift certificates my brother gave me as an early Christmas gift. I was supposed to buy at least a pair of pants, but they didn't have anything good that suits me. I don't wear denim, and they've got a lot of those as well as embellished pants. Yuk. So I told my mom that I decided not to buy any pants. We went to the bag department instead. They've got a lot of pretty leather bags (haven't shopped in Rustan's bag department before), both real leather and synthetic. I was looking for a bowling bag like the one Ate Shang has, but they didn't have any. Instead, I got this cute black-and-white bag that could go with any of my outfits. My mom found herself a sleek black bag that *ahem* I could "borrow" anytime. Heeheehee.

Since we've only spent about half of the certificates, I decided to take a second look at the clothes. I didn't like the blouses they had when I looked around earlier, but then I found a couple of pretty general ones. A bright blue spaghetti-strapped top and a faded blue sleeveless top.

Then we went to those bargain shops where I found this cute T-shirt with a cartoony-looking drawing of a girl. Heeheehee. ^-^ I got a couple of those, too.

missing my honey

Hmmm...I haven't heard a peep from Archer all day yesterday. I was sending him text messages all day, and even if he doesn't have credits, he finds a way to reply. But not yesterday. And when I logged on to Yahoo! Messenger, I saw that he was online, but he wasn't responding.

So when it was almost midnight, I sent him a message that I was going to call him. When dialed his number, I heard "The subscriber cannot be reached. Please try your call later." I kept trying a lot of times, but I got the same result. I wonder what he's up to.

my site's layout is f***ed up

Damn. There's something wrong with my site's layout. When I previewed it in my browser before I uploaded it, it looked fine. Then Archer checked it out last night, and he told me that there was something wrong with the border where my banner is. So what I did was that I took the HTML codes of a couple of the uploaded pages, and looked at it in MS frontpage. Yup, the logo was all messed up. Arg. I have to do the logo over. I'll do it some other time. I'm too lazy right now.

the dreaded course cards

Course card distribution today. The day that leaves most students waiting anxiously. I was a wreck myself while I was waiting for my grades.

Arg, my Gepsych teacher changed the venue where she was going to give out our cards. Instead of at the CSB main building, I find out from one of my classmates that she's going to be at the Angelo King International Center (AKIC) instead. Arg, I had to walk all the way there at almost noon, where the sun is high. Oh well, at least it was all worth it. I got a pretty high grade.

The biggest relief was my Tecdraw and Phi-Gov grades. I was finally able to breathe normally when I found out that I squeezed through. *whew*

I'm switching here for good

That's it, I already made a decision. Now that I decided on a rough layout, I'm gonna use this instead of Diaryland. I'll tweak the layout a little more during the holidays.

I'm chatting with Archer right now via Yahoo! Messenger. He's thinking of making his own website. Heeheehee.

something new online

Oh no! I got something new online! Just switched from DiaryLand to Pitas. I like this one better 'coz it's a blog, so there's more than one entry in each page.
