a little Hogi Hall reunion

Heheheheh, I didn't know I'm actually a casual user. I used to be such a geek until our PC started conking out.

Speaking of PCs, I chatted with my bro yesterday, and when I told him that the PC still isn't fixed, he told me that he's gonna buy a brand new PC for the both of us when he gets home. Yay. ^_^ Plus, he's gonna buy me my own digital camera. Whee. ^_^

So I met up with Liv, Seph, Mike, and PJ yesterday. We all went out to lunch at Kobachi. We took advantage of that eat-all-you-can sushi promo they have every Monday and Wednesday. MMMmmm...

Heheheheh, Tito Audie told us yesterday that we will have our class pictorial on Friday. We all decided to have our pictorial in beach attire for originality. Heheheheh. Aw, too bad Tito Audie will be outta town from Friday until Monday. He'll miss the whole pictorial. Hmmm... I wonder what I'm gonna wear then.

I think I'd better go back to Playshop. Aria's kinda bored and I think she needs some company while waiting for her brother.

early in ATC

I'm meeting Liv and a bunch of the Hogi Hall guys for lunch today. I was supposed to meet Mish at 10 am today, but since she overslept, we decided to reschedule it after lunch.

I finally tried the Siemens Fun Jump last Friday. I was kinda planning to, but I wasn't sure if I would go through with it. So I went to Playshop early. Then while I was hanging around with Jamie while the Children's Theater class was going on, Alex bursts in and asks us if one of us would go with her to the Fun Jump. So I told her I'd just accompany her. Then we find Dein and Kristine near the head of the line, so we went over to talk to them. Alex makes this remark like, "Hogi's so corny; she won't jump with me." So I finally said I'd go, and before I knew it, I had signed up to jump.

And I was glad I did. It was so amazing. I mean, I have acrophobia, but when I was finally there, I just wanted to jump and get it over with. I wasn't exactly jumping, coz the bungee cord was doing it for me. Just a slight movement of my ankles on the trampoline and I was already in the air. I didn't realize how high I was because I was looking down (another first for me), and when I felt that my bungee cords went slack, I realized that I was actually reaching the top of the metal poles on either side of me.

Wow.

Chatting with my brother. Gotta go.

update alert

I don't get to update this blog much anymore.

Well, there's this jumping thing here in ATC this week, and it's only until Sunday. Mikki, Zyra and I saw it last Monday when we arrived from South Mall, where we went ice skating (and I met up with Archer for a while). I just realized yesterday that it's for free, and I only have to register to get in. It's a trampoline where you're attached to a bungee cord, but I'm so scared of heights to go there. Then again, I haven't been on a trampoline for 9 years, and I've been dying to jump on one again. Myles and I took our class there last night as a little incentive for the kids. My golly, Rich did somersaults on that thing. I'm so jealous of her. Even Alex (such a cuuute kid) tried to somersault.

Oh yeah, I went to Lawyn's house last Wednesday to hang out. I was supposed to help her paint her bedroom windows, but since we still don't have an idea on how to start it, we ended up just watching Sweet November instead. Halfway through the movie, we got bored and decided to use the canvas board she bought last Monday. We just did some random strokes, and then ended up with two individual pictures on the same board (she turned some swirls into lollipops and I tranformed two blobs into two cute turtles). I didn't realize that I could still paint. Thanks a million, Icko.

Time for Friday Five

1. What are your hobbies?
Mostly theater-related stuff, like acting, and watching plays. Of course, I still love reading, and recently, I realized that I could still paint.

2. Do you collect anything?
Angel figurines and dried flowers.

3. Is there a hobby you're interested in, but just don't have the time/money to do?
Photgraphy. Yeah, it's pretty expensive, though it's really fun when you really get into it. At least I got the oppotunity to do it for 3 months.

4. Have you ever turned a hobby into a moneymaking opportunity?
Is assisting a beginners' musical theater class considered one? Yeah, I think so. I'm doing it right now for the summer.

5. Besides web-related stuff (burbs, rings, etc.), what clubs do you belong to?
None yet.

after Playshop

I'm in Netopia again, and I just arrived from ATC.

Jeez, even until now, my mom still can't seem to forget the boyfriend thing. Man, that woman seems to dwell on the past way too much. No wonder she's so old-fashioned about everything. ARG.

Good thing she hasn't asked about my course cards yet. The course card distribution was yesterday. I still have to get 2 others. My CATHWOR grade isn't finished coz I took the make-up exam for it just yesterday, because I had a lot of conflicting subjects during finals, and I couldn't seem to find teachers when I really need them. Good thing my puppy-dog eyes act worked on my teacher. ^_^ As for my COSK2 course card, it's with Cris coz I asked her to claim it for me. But man, I really hate my DULAPIL teacher for giving me a lousy grade. I mean, I had a decent 2.5 grade for midterms, and he dropped it to a 1.5?!?!? What the heck is that? I mean, where did he base our grades after midterms when all we did was work on the play? I was the one who comes to rehearsal early and finds that we don't get anything done because the other actors are late. I'm one of the few who worked our butts off for finals and he dumps a 1.5 on me? Ugh. No wonder Ate Shang made a petition for Sir Johnny to get kicked out of St. Scholastica. And to think that he already complemented my acting during Tatarin. Screw you, Johnny Cruz.

Anyway.

Thank goodness Myles will be back next week. I think Rony had a little too much of the MT2 class this week. And we're both starting to get really annoyed with a bunch of them. Yeah, I know, I can't be biased since I'm assistant teacher of the class, but I can't help it.

Oh yeah, as it turns out, Rony happens to know my brother when Kuya was still in DLSU. Rony noticed my Playshop faculty ID, and when he read my last name aloud, he went like, "Now why does that name sound familiar? Do you have a brother?" So I said yes, and that his name is Christopher. "Does he have a nickname?" Yeah, it's "Cads". And then Rony goes, "Oh! Si Cads! I know him!" Yup, Rony was in the chorale while my brother was in Chamber Ensemble. I think I'll ask him about it the next time we chat. I was hoping he'd be online right now, but he's not. (I'm chatting with Rosa, by the way.)

For some reason, I feel weird hanging out with some of my Playshop classmates this year. It all feels so different. Yeah, there's more diversity of ages, but it's all..I don't know, so different. I feel so old if I hang out with my old classmates from last year, coz they're all in their early and mid-teens, and I can't seem to relate to them much. Lawyn and I feel the same way, but she doesn't consider it a big problem because she reunited with her old Playshop 2000 friends, and I don't feel close to them even if we're together. Well, except maybe Kathy. Maybe next week, I'll try bonding with the older ones, like Mish, Menchu, Cucu and some of the rest.

Archer dropped by Playshop today before we got dismissed. Heeheehee. Just wanted to say that. ^_^

Friday Five time!

1. What's your favorite TV show and why?
I love 7th Heaven and Whose Line Is It Anyway?. 7th Heaven coz of its family values and it's reality TV for me. I mean, if my 'rents watch this show (which I doubt), they'd know how to handle "troubled" daughters like me. ^_^ As for Whose Line Is It Anyway?, it's completely improv. I'm not good at improv, and I love how these actors do it.

2. Who is your favorite television star?
I don't know. Maybe Beverly Mitchell, who plays Lucy in 7th Heaven.

3. What was your favorite TV show as a child?
Wow, I had a lot. I used to watch shows like Candy Candy (anyone remember this particular anime?), 5 & Up, Nickelodeon's What Would You Do?, Star Trek...

4. What show do you think should have been cancelled by now?
I'm hoping for Dawson's Creek but a lot of people would kill me. Those shows are so overrated.

5. What new show do you hope escapes the axe this season?
Grosse Pointe, coz I still haven't watched it yet.

back so soon

I haven't checked my email in the longest time that when I checked it just now, there were at least 80 messages waiting for me, including mojoflea's invitation to a Pinoybloggers' EB. Not that I actually go to those kind of stuff.

On to other things.

Eep, Myles will be going to Boracay next week, so the MT2 class will be handled my Rony and me. Yikes. I sure hope I can handle it. Most of the kids are pretty bearable, but their breaking into cliques annoys the hell outta me. Like the older Southville kids stay together in one group, keeping their "coolness factor" (as Rony calls it) in mind, and Nicole won't stop yakking but tries to get out of everything we do. Oh well. The perks of being a Playshop teacher.

Oh yeah, we held auditions for them last Thursday, and the panel was Myles, Rony and me, along with Jamie as an "injured guest panelist" (injured his left thumb in Streetdancing). Lotsa them have pretty raw voices and need training (kinda like me), and we heard a bunch who are really good, and a lot more when they did their acting audition. Golly, these are early teens we're handling, and some of them got audition pieces from Shakespeare and older monologues online.

As for MT1, I still can't get used to the cliques that are sorta forming. I'm still trying to go with different groups each day, but it's pretty hard doing it on my own. Man, if Kris were in the class, it would be easier, coz that was both our pet project in Playshop last year, to bring the whole class together.

Oh yeah, more good news. I got my first paycheck yesterday!!!

Heeheehee, it felt really good to finally have a real paying job. I know this is so shallow of me, but I'm gonna photocopy that check. ^^;;;

Another thing that happened before Playshop yesterday was our DULAPIL finals. Ugh, it was awful. Gino and Raymond still won't cooperate, and Ems had to yell at them backstage while we were having our final run-through before the show (and to think that there were already lotsa people in the theater at that time). Heheheheh, the entire class still can't get over what I looked like yesterday. Everyone was going, "Ang cute mo, Hogi! Parang bata ka talaga!" ("You're so cute, Hogi! You look like a real kid!") Heheheheh, I had Cris put my hair up in pigtails and tied them with white ribbons to match the little girl's dress I had to wear. It really was a little girl's dress. It was white lace, with a bow in the back, ruffles, and it was only down to below my knees, and it helped a lot that it had a higher waist that my own.

Anyway, after my final scene during the actual show, I had to dress up quickly and leave school (don't worry, I asked permission from Sir Johnny) to make it to Tito Audie's Playshop class.

Heheheheh, when I ran into Cris today when we were submitting our TECDRA2 final project (a macquette with a theme, and a floor plan included) this morning, I asked her about what happened after I left. Heheheheh, during the curtain call, even when they all knew that I already left, Cris still mentioned my name (aw, how flattering). And Sir Johnny complemented at how natural my acting was. ^_^ Whee!

Can't get enough of the good news? Here's more. When I showed Miss Ervite my macquette and floor plan, even though I still got a few things wrong, I got a high grade on both of them (though everything was done last night). I also got a 3.0 on my course card! Woohoo!

Ah, the summer is off to a good start.

back again

Man, I've been so ever busy ever since Playshop started. I hardly even have time to swing by the computer labs to blog.

Here's a li'l plug for Jammi.

I gotta go. I'll update again soon, I promise.

Want To Know Which Element You Are?

Truly a rare breed, you're calm and thoughtful but still know how to live life. Things are taken slowly but your large list of experiences (yours as well as others) can help you adapt to new situations with little trouble or people being hurt. Unfortunately, you're the most likely to ignore yourself over other people. Emotions rule you, and though you are quick to kindness, your anger could scare the fiercest of creatures. Learn to relax a bit and live your own life.

Best Match: Fire, they'll pull you out of your shell and teach you plenty of things in life.
Worst Match: Water, they're too intent on their emotions to notice yours.

Streea wasted a bunch of time making this test.

heat wave

Man, it's so hot. And for some reason, my Yahoo Mail is taking forever to load. Arg.

Yup, I'm back in Netopia. I have to wait until after finals for Ben to Check out my PC because he told me that he has a lot of projects to work on for finals. Arg. Well, so do I.

I met up with Archer yesterday after another "non-rehearsal". Arg. We were supposed to go watch a movie but there a few minor conflicts. We ended up just talking outside the back entrance of South Mall instead.

So yesterday was my first day in Musical Theater 1. Boy, was I ever nervous. Lawyn and Zy told me that we were supposed to sing that day, and I was a nervous wreck before class. But after a bunch of exercises, we ended up having about 20 minutes to sing. So Tito Audie and Ria drew 5 random names out of a plastic tupperware. I was so relieved to not be included. Then before the 5 people had finished, Lawyn decided to volunteer because she wasn't sure if she'll be attending class on Monday. Plus she wanted to get it over with. Then after that, Ria started drawing more names and an additional 10 for Monday (I was drawn 3rd). This girl named Sophie (who used to be in MT2 last year) was picked to sing yesterday, but she ended hiding behind the curtain where the bags are deposited. She confessed to the entire class that she was really afraid to sing (heck, we all were), so we all kept egging her on while Tito Audie kept giving her words of encouragement. Well, she did get to sing, but in this really small, soft voice. Hmm...a little more pushing and she'll do great.

Then after Sophie, another girl (I forgot her name) decided to volunteer as well (she's supposed to sing before I do on Monday), then Jamie (who was supposed to be the first). Yikes! That means I'll be the first one to sing next meeting! Oh well. At least it'll be over soon. I've finally decided what to sing. It's gonna be "Some People" from Gypsy. Wish me luck!

Find out which Moulin Rouge song you are.

Playshop time

So today is gonna be my first day of teaching in Trumpets Playshop. I don't know, but I still don't see myself teaching musical theater. Yeah, I know, I had this wacked out idea after graduating high school wishing that I'd come back and be a club moderator to the Thespians club, since I tried filling in for Miss Duco once, but I think that this is happening too fast for me. Oh well. I sure hope this will be a great summer.

sleep...need sleep

I miss having 24/7 access to my PC and internet. Arg.

First of all, I got a text message from Moi during the weekend about who next year's Execom will be. Heheheheh, I'm not in the list. I deliberately didn't fill out the resume like I was supposed to and I didn't even come to the election last week. I know it's mean, but I just don't want to be an officer. I don't mind being household head, but an officer? No way.

I went to ATC yesterday and spent a while handing out flyers about Playshop. Yup, Archer was there. ^_^ I also checked out the new Playshop venue, which is in Service Town.

I can't seem to think of anything to write today. So I think I'll just answer last week's Seven Shots on Wednesday.

1. Do you think you're going to heaven or to hell? Explain.
I honestly have no idea. I remember in high school when one of my old classmates saying that despite how many times you try to balance all the good stuff and the bad stuff that you do, the good stuff doesn't really make up what you did wrong. But I sure hope I'm going to heaven after all the service I did.

2. What was your greatest fear in childhood?
I can't really recall. All I remember was that I was really afraid of heights (I still am) and that I have a really big shy streak. I guess I'm just afraid of not having enough friends.

3. Have you ever had "bad" friends (you know, bad influences)? Are you still friends with them?
I think so. Well, yeah, I do. But I believe that breaking off my friendship with them isn't the right thing to do. All I do is just hang out with them and try to be the opposite.

4. What is the most useful thing you ever learned from school?
That most of the stuff that you learn will be useless when you get to the real world. ^_^ And of course, discipline and focus.

5. What is the most useful thing you ever learned from a movie?
That real life is totally the complete opposite.

6. Have you ever loved a movie that no one else seems to have watched? What was it?
Noises Off. In last year's Stage Craft class, when Sir Jay asked the class if we watched it, I was the only one. And even when I ask about it now, no one has even heard of it. Watch it anyway (especially if you're involved in theater), it's so funny.

7. What's the best BAD movie you've ever seen?
I have no idea. YET.

Damn, I still feel sleepy. My parents had company last night whose eldest son used to be my mom's student in Jeddah. Arg, I was trying to get some sleep, and I could still hear them banging the door of the other bedroom. My mom said that they were just playing around. Grr.
