Busy busy busy I did like 'Haibane Renmei' very much, and will buy the last two DVD's when they come out for the complete set. Very cool. I learned most of what I wanted to know without having it spelled out to me and I love that. 20,503, chapter five in ficblog. Very uneven. Petra is getting antsy again, may actually have to start fleshing out larger sections of still-unnamed K&P book four because eventually her and Brendan will get tired of me just shuffling them off to useless Dragonball-Z inspired battlescapes to keep them busy. Twig was winged@07:40 a.m.Sunday, November 9, 2003 One More Thing Hey, you, why am I not able to find this Underworld complation on Amazon? This better not be one of those Japanese import only deals, or I think I'll cry. ... and sweet mother of tapdancing jesus, why can't I be rich so I can buy things like this? Twig was winged@11:32 p.m.Sunday, November 9, 2003 Right Now I am So Far Behind I Will Never Die. 18,619, which I believe is slightly better than I should be doing. Woo. The chapter has a few definite ugly patches, but as I keep hearing that's the point of the NaNo, so be it. New chapter of Literal Dawn and F&B up too. I really, really really feel bad about letting 'Whisper' go for so long, but I swear, soon I'll get right in there and kick it to the finish line. Yes, I've said this before but this time I mean it, really I swear... Yes, I'm trying to convince myself much more than you all. I also inked and half-colored the new page layout, that should be up sometime soon. I like it a lot so far, it's another PB sketch... and no, I haven't forgotten about that either, but dear god every page layout they come up with is yet another version of Twig Can't Do This. Oi. I need another six weekend days, please. Twig was winged@10:28 p.m.Friday, November 7, 2003 Count 15,606. Haven't finished transcribing all the stuff from the notebook. Gardener still needs a name. 'Equilibrium' was a horrible, horrible movie. Twig was winged@11:35 p.m.Friday, November 7, 2003 Mediocrity is never passive; it avenges itself for its deprivation. Nelson Algren said that. No, I don't know who he was either, but the people at the Austin left-leaning newspaper establishment the "Chronicle" which is free and terribly nifty seem to think he's important. He probably is. It really pisses me off when the little AOL headline box pops up, and I can't tell whether today's six soldiers killed in Iraq are the same six soldiers I saw last time, or six new soldiers. Everyone's already said everything there is to be said about it, and people are still dying, and the president and the administration don't seem to care. At all. Except to keep people from taking pictures of the caskets. What a world. Dave, I've rebuilt the layout I sent you before pitas crashed but I can't seem to log in under your name to get it up there. Talk to me the next time I see you online and I'll try to figure out what I'm doing wrong or just send you the code or something. Asprosdrakos already links to the hilarious video that Spooky showed me. Go view now. Also, go look at this woman's artwork, because it's hella cool. Saw her in an art show last weekend, very nice. Well, monkeybeans, these guys gave F&B an award. Keen. Brendan: Ya gotta remember to check the real world once in a while! Me: If it's anything important, they'll call back. I had a dream a few nights ago that someone tried to sell me a $500 log of fois gras after giving me a taste. I've never had fois gras, so now I wonder how it compares to my salty dream sample. Salty dream sample. Ecchi. I so have the new REM album. It is so tasty and good. Twig was winged@07:12 a.m.Wednesday, November 5, 2003 Count. 11,553. More blog later. When can use sentences with tiny words in gaps. Twig was winged@10:59 p.m.Tuesday, November 4, 2003 Twig was winged@11:43 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2003 In My Middle English fantasy, they will damn well have sandwiches! ... I mean, it's not like it's a technical achievement. 9,126 words total. Chapter Three up in ficblog. Twig was winged@08:53 p.m.Saturday, November 1, 2003 Doom of the Living Started NaNo yesterday, entries are on the ficblog, converted solely for the story for the month of November. 4,000 words and change so far. We'll see how long my luck holds out. I really do love Erica as much as I've loved any of my other protagonists, she's fun to play with. Shal and Uli are fun too. I can't wait to introduce the gardener. Am trying to get a few other stories together as Literal Dawn seems happy to keep churning out plotpoints, and I'd really like to get to the end of the first 'part' before the end of the year. So yes, please go check out my NaNo story. I think you may enjoy it. Twig was winged@11:32 p.m.Friday, October 31, 2003 Smell my feet!!! Trick or Treat! Blee! Happy times! NaNo, one day away! Everyone ready? Everyone got a name? Oh and look, you're all straight! YES! Finally. I haven't played with heterosexual protagonists for the longest damn time. (Erica and Co. doing warm-up stretches) Sad that 'literal dawn' only got to 45,000 words... so close! Gwrrrr, I would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for this meddling occupation. *rolls into productive twigball and rolls away* Twig was winged@07:08 a.m.Thursday, October 30, 2003 Bacon is doing the job for me... Thorne has a link to an absolutely hysterical live journal. Go read now! Also, go check out Lunar's newest picture of everyone's favorite threesome and butter. Nope, not what you're thinking, you pervs. Twig was winged@07:34 a.m.Wednesday, October 29, 2003 Short. So I wanted to write this long meaningful post about writing that people would discuss and perhaps take something from, but it's fecking late and I'm tired and it's only goddamn WEDNESDAY, argh argh die die die fornicate. Twig ramble: Cliff's Notes version 1. Writing classes suck because everyone's trying to be very helpful, but new ideas (which are usually what you try to come up with in such a class) are like that tree in "A Charlie Brown's Christmas" and really can't handle the strain. Ugly Baby ideas need to be nurtured and coddled or at the very least apathetically responded to and not pruned until they can stand on their own. 2. Vitally important to have a cheering section of people willing to have you pitch the "Weiss Kreuz-ish story set in midevil Belgium and oh yeah did I mention they're all circus performers and Yojhi is actually a large sheepdog" without mocking you or burning your house down. 3. FAKE manga in English makes me blush. 4. Go rent 'Milennial Actress' RIGHT THE HELL NOW. It is a glorious movie in all ways. 5. All my evil creatures are still just raptors in my mind. Big raptors, little raptors. Raptors with flashlights taped to their heads, for the illusion of 'enhancements'. Nothing but raptors. Twig was winged@11:18 p.m.Tuesday, October 28, 2003 Blargh. I have no time, less concentration and everything wants to be done /right now/. I need a clone or two. And a pizza. Twig was winged@11:23 p.m.Tuesday, October 28, 2003 Blee! Several good things happened yesterday all at once. Flidget returned, and so I got to talk to her and Thorne and Changeling and things were good. Parents managed to find the Dayna Manning CD in Montreal, have been playing it nonstop. Listening to FFX-2 soundtrack jarred out a section of 'Literal Dawn'. Let the good times roll. Twig was winged@07:40 a.m.Saturday, October 25, 2003 Excerpts from Amusing Conversations I've Had in the Past Week Brad: Whatever happened to Dr. Laura? Me: The gays got her. Elaine: The gay mafia. Me: The Fab Five before they got into 'Queer Eye'. Elaine: Gunned her down with very fashionable bullets. --------------- Me:So yeah, why the hell isn't 'She-Ra' in the 'Masters of the Universe' cartoon yet? She kicked ass. Elaine: She was evil. Me: Yeah it was that stupid anime "I'm going to be evil for half an episode" thing Elaine: No, she was born evil. She was like, kidnapped. Me: And brought back to good through the power of... Elaine: Body shots. (ten minute discussion about how Bow was, unfortunately, incredibly gay in those tights even if he had the porn star mustache to compensate) Elaine: He needed a cowboy hat. Me: and some chaps... *snork giggle* Me: Body shots off Bow... *snort giggle smirk* Elaine: Taste the gold. ----------- Dave: she's one of kim's friends that we sort of adopted because she's very blonde and very confused. She knows us and loves us. but all night long I got the feeling like she was wondering where she was supposed to be. ----------- Elaine: "Van needed to find himself a less whiny power source." ------------- Me: Here's sort of what Gregory looks like *shows her a picture of Culgan from Suikoden 2* Mistwind: Why hello, I'm not seme at all. Twig was winged@04:27 p.m.Saturday, October 25, 2003 bloody hell! When the hell did Kinko's start charging so much for stupid copies? Oi. Nix that plan. Right. Time to find a way to scam some copies out of someone. Twig was winged@01:48 a.m.Saturday, October 25, 2003 batch. I love getting close to using up another writing notebook. It's like accomplishment, only not quite as impressive. Always fun to poke a story and see what is more difficult, naming characters or getting a title for the whole thing to begin with. 'Literal Dawn' is suffering badly from BFNS - Bad Fantasy Naming Syndrome as I grab y's and odd vowel combinations willy-nilly in an attempt to name things as I write. It's especially hard to name countries, as I know you're aware. Still, managed to title a few projects and shift some stuff around to remind myself what there is to do. Except for Wind, I'm either working on something for every member of the Conjunction, working /with/ every member on something, or some combination of the two. Yipe. At least the muse has been kind these last few weeks. Twigwork, the only other thing I do besides writing, has been... interesting. I believe the technical hip-hop term is 'drama'? Nothing so bad as what Luny has had to put up with, but lots of interesting things are happening around me and I'm getting under the impression that my services are required on the approximate level of a helper monkey, and no one actually thinks I can do more. Argh. Am I the only one who really likes that new Missy Elliot song? It's just so danceable. ... and now to Kinko's at 1 am to do something I should have done a month ago.
