You People Make My Ass Twitch

A parents' group has complained that the Boston archdiocese's new sex abuse prevention curriculum, ``Talking About Touching,'' is too explicit and violates a parent's right to have the ultimate say over their child's education. The program began in late fall in the kindergarten through fourth grades as part of reforms aimed at better protecting children from sex abuse. A group of about 30 parents complain the curriculum specifically names body parts and presents scenarios inappropriate for young children. ``It has the potential to undermine their innocence,'' said Bill Germino, who helped form the parents' group.

Ok, so it's important to tell kids that unwanted touching is not their fault and not something they should be ashamed to tell when it's happening to them, but tossing around clinical terms like penis and vagina is shameful... unless something bad happens and then it's important to be explicit? And, I mean, we all know that awful shit does happen to some kids at a really young age, but in order to "defend their innocence" (whatever the hell that means) it's important not to give them even the rudimentary tools to defend themselves?

Unless something bad happens, of course, and then they're supposed to know exactly what to do... even though no one talks about it.

Oh yeah, this is going to protect the children just fine.

Mama I'm coming hoooooooome

Whew. Am going home over Memorial Day Weekend, first visit in... seven months? Two weeks after Ann goes back to Japan. The irony is thrilling.

Still will get to see the Heather and the Joe and the Halcycat and the parents and the brother and it should be a pip.

Thorne: "but that means there's something for everyone."

... and I do remember a time in my life when this statement wouldn't send me screaming in terror.

Things You Never Needed to Know about the Twigments

1. Brendan has been known to dance *and* sing to the Rolling Stones. Especially in the shower. Sebastian's prompt gift of a shower radio may be some sort of masochistic tendancy trying to surface.

2. Tej holds the record as 'most likely to be choking the bishop' at any point during the day. He spends an absurd amount of time in the other bathroom. Not Ebby's Inspirational Bathroom - she'd kill him for that.

3. Cassiel doodles in the margins of reports at meetings. He also makes little haiku from the lyrics of Paul McCartney's Bond hit "Live and Let Die." He thinks the McCartney version far superior to the Guns N Roses version. Heathen.

That is all for now.

Remember to breathe in and out all day.

Wow, I really needed that half-day at work. I wonder how I can explain how I need at least one of those a week to avoid going after someone with a binder clip.

Actually sat down and wrote most of the Ophelia/Cassiel fight scene, and I realized the S/B scene will likely get pushed forward a chapter due to... er, length.

Brendan: ... and he's such a little guy too. You wouldn't think...

Me: ENOUGH.

I figure y'all reading this will understand that when there's a day you can't write anything, it feels like a year, when there's two days, it's a goddamn eternity. I'm still not sure if I'll have to stop the hobbies to have more time to write, but I'm seriously considering it, 'cos y'know, NOTHING is more important than the time I spend on the keys. ... even writing FF8 fic.

Need to social blog. Will do so soon. Must finish many other things, am pushing them all to this weekend so I can get all my procrastination done at once. ^^

New page of Ebby here until this weekend when I can do an update.

*purr*
