Ann: "Wow, that's a neat layout." Me: "It's Lilack's, of course" Ann: "Of course." ... this being your previous mecha layout, Lilack-san, but of course ALL your layouts are stunning, and your newest is quite lovely. Houshin Engi is one of the rare shows that I saw before Ann did, and yet she still likes it more than I do. (shrug) About the Kenshin OAV's, they seem to be "flashbacking" to the Enishi arc, as in the very beginning of the OAV Yahiko is all grown up and Hiko is teaching Kenshin's /son/ the art of the sword. Odd, that. You sound like a fantastic RP'er. I never got into it much, no good DM's, although I have a great story about a cup full of lava I kept pouring on my foot and my opponent with 1 hitpoint who finally stabbed himself to death... after that amazing debacle, I stuck to playing the giant knight who just cleaved things. Whee! I went to see "Black Hawk Down" and bought myself a cute goldfish at 1 a.m. He's happily swimming around now in his new bowl. Of course the movie was great and of course all the Guardians were avidly enjoying the show, action movie freaks. It's a pretty nice adrenaline rush of a movie, I'll leave the social commentary aspect to someone else, although I have to say seeing a preview for a Vietnam movie directed by Randall "Braveheart" Wallace was a little less than heartening. I mean, between "Apocalypse Now," "Platoon," and "Full Metal Jacket" what is there left to say? Ann has "Strictly Ballroom," and I finally got the "Moulin Rouge" DVD. Mmmm uninterrupted dance routine segements... so nice. Luny? China!? Cool!!! You go on with your bad self!!! : D Ooh, Flidgie has a map of the Underground! Oooh. I got one of those as a fabric wall hanging from Ann's parents when they went to England (hugs her wall hanging). I always thought it was such a cool graphic design. ... and silly Flidgie, I was the one who was afraid to bother you! I was expecting to hear "Silly little writer, I shall have none of you, as I am busy bringing beautiful chibis forth from the ether." Wind-san, I don't know if I can really reccommend SSX Tricky, as I'm pretty sure it is the most addictive substance known to man. Heather and I both continue to rave about it, even though the PS2 is long gone from the room... I think if Ann had introduced it to us before she left, we would have found a way to keep her from graduating, if it meant stealing every blue book and multiple-choice form on campus. I swear, someday I'm just going to sleep on Ragabash-san's porch until I learn how to do such spectacular glowy effects. I think the current DNAngel layout is my favorite so far, and that's saying a lot when they're all so awesome. It's just... so... pretty. Tsai, liked the short timed story. Do you ever do impromptu poetry slams in chat rooms? It's sort of the same thing... I usually lose serious poems halfway because I can't stop making a joke, but they're really fun with the right group of people. ... and the real reason I can blog even slightly well when drunk? I make lists, lots and lots of lists for the post of everything I want to say. It's my organizational style, lists and piles... which usually results in piles all over the house that eventually topple over when I forget to work on them, and piles of lists of shorthand notes that no longer make sense to me. X D Writing pr0n... hee. All the characters in my head used to get randy when I had a really boring class... so Economics was always more fun than it ever should have been. No wonder I did so badly, I spent half the hour in my own thoughts, chasing my characters around with a ruler trying to get them to keep their hands to themselves. "Remember, no matter what a character tells you, there is No Sex in the Econ Class... none." No manga... no manga yet for me. I really really want my Chobits and World End FairyTale! He just turned evil, damn it! I need to know what happened to my cute evil boigirl and my winged sleepyhead!!! Thank you Spooky. Petra won't let me take Placebo's "Mars Landing Party" off the playlist. (... for the reason why, just download the song and then look up the translation of the lyrics... >.< ) Hee. Also, I got Spooky's first skin done, and I think it's really really really cool. I'm a little bit annoyed by the white space at the top and the blankness of the seeking bar, but usually when I mess with that stuff I feck up the whole skin, so for right now it stays as is. It's such a good picture, I can't wait to start working on the next skin made out of her excellent art. Corporate Mecha would be such a good idea, me and Joe decided. It would be like Nascar, only with more intentional explosions. Starbucks Gundam... Wal-Mart Macross... McMecha. Oh yeah. Band names this time around... Spooky contributes Decadent Nipples, and I've got Powdercow, Undertoe and UnGodly Thing. I think one of those or more might be someone else's idea but I can't remember anymore. Also, at work today, a girl brought out this book on castles... and she found a Scottish castle called "Castle Doofus." My Supervisor: "Oh yes, we'll live there. I want a moat filled with pudding. The castle can be haunted by the ghost of Peter Sellers." My fish has no name. I was gonna do mail today, I swear... but with work and this new Anne Tyler book I was reading, I got... distracted? (sheepish grin) Twiggins wrote this @03:33 a.m.Saturday, February 2, 2002 ok... need to do some social blogging, but not at 3 a.m. Finally took the advice to "kill your darlings" and took a weed whacker (wacker? whacker?) to Strange Day at the Races. Cut almost all the useless scenes that just passed time, many side characters stories and a whole bunch of other useless drivel. Also cut the "corn surfing" scene, but opted to keep "Sebastian gets drunk" and "Sebastian plays cards" because the first scene worked better than I thought it did before I re-read it, and the second scene is just really good. All in all, it looks like I trimmed the beast by 20% at least, and I have no doubt I can cut that even further. God I padded this fic. Makes the worst chapters of LHR look like haiku. Cold appears to be gone. Hope it's not just the medicine kicking in. Twiggins wrote this @03:10 a.m.Friday, February 1, 2002 Yes! Yes yes yes! I knew they'd do it! I just knew! Woo, no more 8 billion stupid Gatts! Here she is! : ) Ok, so does anyone want a Griffith when I get the set? I really don't need the both of them. Twiggins wrote this @08:17 a.m.Thursday, January 31, 2002 Do yourself a favor right now and read Kiri's Truest Kind. It's the best Trigun fic I've ever read. So well paced, so interesting, it's just excellent. I will write more later, right now I'm sick and tired and I have a test I can't possibly pass even if I studied all night and I /hate/ failing and I'm really lonely and stressed out and I can't write anything... *whine whine whine, bitch bitch bitch* Oh well, at least the dentist said I didn't have any cavities. : ) Twiggins wrote this @10:56 p.m.Tuesday, January 29, 2002 What, me graduate? Hee, thanks Luny darling, the birthday would be a bit better without the grumpy cold-sickies and.... lol, who would have ever thought it would be hard getting those two to take their clothes off, ne? X D Did anyone notice that The Onion's A.V Club reviewed the Escaflowne movie? Interesting. The more I hear, the more I'm glad I watched it raw, with only Ann's explainations here and there. I think it most likely improved the experience.Umma umma... Lilack, you must see the new Ruroni Kenshin OVA. It really is really that cool... I'm gonna go nuts if they don't put out the rest of the Enishi arc. (whistles to self and hopes Lilack's forgotten all about dental dams *giggle*). Ooo! I went to Wizzywig's on Sunday and found the most kawaii little Casca keychain!!! X D I think that brings my grand total of anime merchandise up to... wow, over $1000 just in artbooks and anime, and that's probably a conservative sum... and that's not counting everything I bought for far more than it was listed, or DVD's or CD's or statues or doujinshi... gah. Everyone go poke Ann, and make her put up her Assam chibi picture on Bob, if she hasn't already, as it is the cutest thing X D. I don't like most of her manga but with the amount of pretty bishonen this one is racking up, I could learn quick. Leareth, I'm a sucker for old-school battle type stuff (funny that I've never seen Arslan) so I mean anything with lots of moving armies and positioning troops and stories about the politics of war usually get me... I just hate going into a show knowing it's going to be a downer. I'm too much of a happy endings kind of person. Wind has my number with the SSX thing. If I actually had a PS2 I would be spending my time eating, sleeping and playing SSX Tricky... talk about an addictive game. It doesn't hurt any that Brody's a nice serving of man pie.It would almost be worth signing up with PayPal and bidding high just to learn Ragabash's real name. Hell, I might bid /just/ to find out. Oh, and a happy note, Dave's moved into his new place, and he was partially covered under his parent's insurance, so it looks like he'll get back about $1000 for what was lost, which is about half. So... yeah, he's doing ok, and will probably buy a PS2 to replace the DVD player and PSOne he had. ... which means there's a new place to play SSX Tricky. (evil grin). Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes : ). It's really just the best thing in the world to know you all. Twiggins wrote this @04:56 p.m.Tuesday, January 29, 2002 happy birthday to me. Longer post later, now I must go to work. Twiggins wrote this @09:26 a.m.Saturday, January 26, 2002 "You are not a Breen." "You do not exist." Whee. Aeon Flux. Pre-party for birthday on Tuesday is very tasty, thanks to Ann, Heather n' Joe... n' Ann's copy of SSX Tricky. Very nice. We saw "Count of Monte Cristo," very nice, Azarel spent the entire time commenting on the outfits and the wine. Now writing under the effects of this hard raspberry cocktail thing... very nice. : ) Saw Ruroni Kenshin OVA, the new one, at club. Oooo. Nice. If they do the whole 'Revenge Arc' thing with Enishi and Kaoru and Kenshin going batty in the same style that they did the Tomoe arc, I'll be real happy. It was a little strange to watch Kaoru walk a few paces behind Kenshin, ok, a /lot/ strange, but still, I love the subtle style and quiet pacing of that style of the RK anime. Also, Yahiko grows up to be real, real pretty. Who knew? Saw "Momento" too. Excellent. Stories are responding to my inability to do schoolwork this semester by actually being nice to me. I finally started to work on Whisper 18, and after four years of not letting me in on the plot, both Harume and the angels have decided to talk to me and let me in on what the hell is happening in Knights and Pawns. Finally. I really need to put together some sort of encyclopedia of terms for my universe, just to keep myself in order on what's going on... and I think I'm going to need to redo the site too. It needs to be sorted out again. I need to have a misc fic section too. Gah. Lilack, um... I take the fifth. Er... (sips drink), I take a fifth? : D Speaking of big guns... Alucard trades it in for an even bigger one around episode... six, I think? O.O Me, I think I'll stick with this one.Glad to see that both you and Leareth like Hellsing, and I'm surprised you haven't seen Berserk yet, Leareth. I like Casca, but not the way she ends up getting treated... and Griffith looks too much like a woman. Way too much. Tsaiko, I owe you a letter, I'll try to get it out soon. : ) I love these things. I don't have a pair of my own so I keep stealing Heather's. : ) WinAmp skins have to be the most frustratingly easy difficult thing I've ever done. I finally figured out how to make the volume and balance buttons invisible... and yes, it is the easiest damn thing ever to do. Whee. Go me. Also, noticed when I went into my local comic book store that they're finally collecting a suitable amount of stock detrius... you know, that level of crap in a comic book store that will never, ever sell and therefore adds an air of permanence about the place. The old store, Gen X, used to have the same kind of thing... and this Fushigi Yuugi watch that never, ever, ever sold... I still think it was there on the last day of their closing sale. Lovely. Got my unicorn box back from the pottery place. (sigh) Probably will be going back with my first paycheck to do Tarcye and Carlise's lamp for them (lol). Hopefully, they'll sell it before I get there. My God. Lex visited my site. LEX VISITED MY SITE!!!! Who is this Lex of amazingness? Go to her site, she has the most incredible art. IN-CRED-I-BLE. Also, she is a kickass writer. Kurai? Spooky? Flidgie? Luny? Ann? Lex said she liked the art, and I know for sure she wasn't talking about me, so she probably meant you guys, and everyone else I'm too drunk to remember right now. Man, what was IN these things? I only had one!!! The band names for tonight: "Sonic Twattery" from Spooky, and "In Love with Mom" care of yours truly. I think it would have to be a punk band. : ) Twiggins wrote this @11:15 p.m.Friday, January 25, 2002 Yes, but Lilack, the important question is, do they make flavored dental dams? : ) Twiggins wrote this @08:23 a.m.Monday, January 21, 2002 Well, shit. My friend Dave just called to let me know his apartment got robbed. They took his Playstation and all his games, his DVD player and all his DVD's, his laptop and scared his cat half to death. There's more, but that's the most of it that affects him, apart from the fact that he is really shaken up over the whole thing and now in a fight with the super to get moved to a different apartment. You'd like Dave. I know you would, because it's damn near impossible /not/ to like him. He's a hard worker, honest, kind, funny, good with kids, a writer of progressively more impressive talents as the years have gone on, especially in the humor area, and above all he would do absolutely ANYTHING to help out someone, even if he just met you, and even if he knew he wasn't going to get anything back in return. It's just the kind of guy he is. He's also the kind of guy holding down two jobs and taking 20 credit hours to try and get through school, and driving a car so old you can actually see where it was hit by a triceritops who didn't know to stay in his own lane. He works so hard for what he's got, it pisses me off that he's got to get screwed like this... especially as his novel was on that laptop. You writers out there /know/ what kind of a nightmare it is to lose work... hell, it would be enough to give me a mental breakdown. ... but Dave keeps smiling, and joking, and is a thousand times more optimistic than I could ever be in that situation. He never loses his temper, he never snaps at people over his problems... this just really sucks. So if you have some extra good karma, or happen to find a genie with some wishes or something, spot my friend Dave one, would you? I only wish there could be more people as generous and wonderful as he is. Twiggins wrote this @11:38 p.m.Sunday, January 20, 2002 Oi, Tsaiko, you can go ahead and play around in the K&P universe all you want. : ) Just as long as I get to read the fic when it's posted and dance around the room like a total loony, because people actually think my universe is cool enough to write about. I've got three whole people writing about my world that aren't me... O.o No words... no words for how cool this is. ... but yeah, I'm really not fond of writers like Anne McCaffrey or Anne Rice getting all bent out of shape about people writing fanfic off their stuff... as if worlds where people ride flying dragons or worlds with erotic/religious/whatever themed vampires are really THAT original. Anyone can do that, anyone can do ANY world building that's ever been done in fiction. It's not as if /any/ author's come up with something no one else had ever thought of before, or couldn't think up with a little time and work. I suppose for me it's a bit of a tension, between realizing that K&P and the surrounding fic is at the same time both the most important thing in my life and the most valuable thing I've ever done, and at the same time rather trivial, of debatable meaning and cliche-ridden, and ultimately disposable... and because it's nearly 4:00 am I won't bother going into my rant on the disposability of all works of literature, good and bad... blah blah blah working at the library too late does strange things to your mind. @.o So yeah... please play with the universe. : ) I really liked your short story about the tower, the girl and the dragon, which is rare because the ending was - not to spoil it for those who haven't read yet - not the usual happy ending. I can't wait to see your K&P fic, I hope you will post it soon. I hope you're feeling better, I went through the same stomach thing, including sleeping on the floor of the bathroom, on Christmas Eve, so I really do feel your pain. : ) Ok, now it's... 4 a.m. O.o ...and I'm sure this entry made very little sense, and that's an optimistic view... gah. I apologize. Good night. Twiggins wrote this @03:45 a.m.Sunday, January 20, 2002 Lilack, there's no real reason for the reoccuring band names, it's just something I keep thinking of - probably some crossed wires or randomly firing neutrons somewhere in me brain X D. If I could, I'd create a page where people could add their own, some giant archive of great bands that will never play Cleveland... maybe someday I'll figure out the coding for that. Also, I like H.R. Giger's work, although my favorite picture of his is probably one of the least detailed... I think it was in the first Necromicon book, called "Stairs". I know there were a few, large staircases around a central room leading down, no floor, just darkness. It was a minimalist painting really, but creepy as all hell too. I loved it. Leareth, don't take just my word for it, ask Luny too, Hellsing is dead awesome. I love it, love the characters, love the giant silver gun... love it. I've heard Boogiepop Phantom isn't half bad either, but since I haven't actually seen it, I can't say for sure. Also, I heard someone bought the rights to Read Or Die?! If this keeps me from seeing the third episode before the "official" DVD comes out... probably a LONG time from now, I am going to be a grumpy!grumpy!Twig. Twiggins wrote this @03:27 a.m.Sunday, January 20, 2002 Hi. : ) Reading the Satyricon, a very dull, very lame book full of things that would have probably shocked me four years ago before I read an old, defunct fic on the SSC and then COI and heard those magical words "shonen-ai". I'm reminiscing about freshman year, how sad is that?! : D One good line though: "I suspect somehow that poverty is the twin sister of talent." I painted pottery today with friends. It was a lot of fun, I did this white unicorn on blue background cameo-style type thing... Now Carlise and Tarcye are both yammering away in my head trying to get me to go back and paint this lamp too. They've got their hearts set on trying to turn it into some sort of wierd astrological gaudy light fixture from hell.,. and I'm sure they'll talk me into it eventually (sigh). : ) Random nonsense... I had rice pudding for the first time, from the best independant pizza parlor in town. It's run by a Greek family, and the wife makes the pudding herself... and it's /fantastic/. Jimmy John's is too... I still don't exactly get what capicola is, but I like it a lot. ... and I really need to see Black Hawk Down, as do most of my characters. ... and Ann, thanks again for the Cake song... it's the best thing to listen to while reading really angsty fic, it turns everything into a very large postmodern joke, and i like that a lot. : ) Listerine strips to freshen breath are quite possibly the most evil thing ever made. The stupid strips melt in your mouth and turn into pure /bleach/. it's like eating 10,000 Ricolas with about twice the menthol per half-ounce. Run from these things, I mean it. Flidget has a very pretty new layout, I don't care who doesn't agree with me. ... and Luny gave me the link to a very WRONG very hilarious very WRONG moment of time called Metal Pr0n Solid: Sons of Libido. So wrong... so very very wrong... : D Now let's see if this posts, shall we? Twiggins wrote this @03:08 a.m.Friday, January 18, 2002 "Hello Cleveland, we are Meat Adhesive!" Twiggins wrote this @09:51 p.m.Friday, January 18, 2002 ... and did I mention how much I love the quirks of Adobe GoLive. Hey you! Yeah, you... usless HTML coding in the corner! Outta the pool! Twiggins wrote this @09:29 a.m.Friday, January 18, 2002 Or as Spooky would say, the reason I have to be thankful for the mysterious Tsaiko's praise: “i know. i'm sorry. but see? see? conclusive proof that tommyrude can go fuck himself with a tire iron in a snowstorm on neptune while space goats piss on his head” Oh, and she is in greivous mourning over the death of "Invader Zim" on Nick... I am in mourning too, but her loss is infinitely keener than mine. Hell, maybe Cartoon Network will pick it up. (opleaseopleaseoplease) Whee. Snorting Liquid Paper for the last two hours has left me lovelygiddy. Note to self: do not do anymore Japanese homework in ink, it can only go horribly horribly wrong. Twiggins wrote this @01:29 a.m.Friday, January 18, 2002 (slamming hand down on 'Panic Button' with all her might) It's not working... it's not WORKING!!! AAA!!! Let's just say, Japanese has managed within a matter of two weeks to go from a minor problem to something that is damn near giving me ulcers every time I have to go into the class. The fear of not being able to graduate now ranks ever so slightly below nuclear war as my top, all-time fear. I realize that yes, I probably will do just fine, but the fear remains nonetheless. I don't plan on keeping this layout up too long, hopefully Chobits will arrive soon, and I can start on another Chobits layout because they're fun to do. I'm really tired, but I just wanted to say hey to Tsaiko. Thanks for the vote of confidence, it really helps to know someone's reading and enjoying, especially K&P. : ) Twiggins wrote this @12:30 a.m. |
