The Kotori below links to Handpuppet Theatre, which is more amusing than anything not involving bashing a Republican square in the nuts has the right to be.

Pavement = 1, Twïg = 0

I inaugrated my ass with the pavement this morning as my in-line skates hit a rather nasty groove in the rather nasty university sidewalk. Thankfully 'cause the campus is somewhat vacant for Labor Day the only witnesses were a pair of nice men who helped me pick up my shoes.

I hurt all over. I toasted my elbow, shin and both of my hands sting and have a few nice gashes... I'm gonna be feeling this for a week. >.<

Well, if Wind-san can do it, so can I. A quick rundown of fall semester:

Japanese 101 - Finally, I have room in my schedule. It's hard, and fast, and /hard/... but fun.

English 300 somthing - Scottish flavor - A Pop Culture English class I needed for ENG credit. We're watching Braveheart and Trainspotting back-to-back.

English 300 something - hip-hop flavor - Another Pop Culture English class, this one on how Hip-Hop affects the United States culture... taught by a 50-something white man. ... wtf?!

English 400 something - race and medicine - It's oddly reminiscient of my History of Sexuality class... except I no longer have any desire to give a damn about the material. Bloody Hell.

Journalism 480 - the end - Journalism and Ethics, my final JRN class. Let's just say there's a stormcloud over my head at this point and move on...

Lilack, all that sprinkle talk was thanks to SpookyMufn, my AIM "where the hell is the next chapter of Whisper you ass!" buddy. She has a blog too, but I don't have the address off hand. If I ever put up a new layout, it will be up there. (sigh).

Ann has lovely Yue/Sakura WAFF abounding. Mmmm, tasty goodness, although I think this bodes badly for the rest of Starlight, Starbright... what's the point of writing the rest when you can cut out the middleman and just dive into the WAFF? Lunar also had some nice Cass/Ko WAFF before she CHICKENED OUT!!! : p

Hee hee hee, just kidding Luny. I understand the sudden "oh dear lord why did I post?" feeling, and hell, if you want to kick the ending (hint hint - make it longer, add /anything/(grin)) I'm not going to complain.

Speaking of, if you see me online tonight and you're really bored, ask me for what I have of the whole hot springs scene. Cassiel /would not stop bitching/, and so it's a lot darker than originally intended. I actually don't know what the hell I wrote or why, but I'm sure it will make you feel a lot better about what you're doing, cause it beats the hell out of mine. : )

Erm... other stuff... um... Handmaid May is really cute anime, and Sayuki isn't too bad either, though I wish they would have had more of a budget for their fight scenes (and unlike apparantly every other fangirl on earth I just /don't/ see slash potential there). I'm ok with Fruits Basket, not like Ann is (I haven't seen her this into a show since Card Captor Sakura)... and I don't remember what else we watched.... Gravitation... (yawn)... unimpressed, but I hear it gets better...

... about the Salon.com article on slash? Well, I'm just glad no one reads Salon.com. : )

Wind-san? If I had any more space, I'd host you myself. I hope you find some space somewhere : )

Ok... that's it, I'm done. God I hurt.

Oh yeah, the little flans had definite potential... I think I'll try peach cobbler and Chicken Cordon Bleu next. : )

AHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

twig glomped her sephy pasucon on -Tuesday, August 28, 2001,08:43 p.m.

"funfact: Pokemon Pop Tarts are most definitely not all they're cracked up to be, especially with an exploitable shelf life the length of the Pax Romana ("See the first Pokemon Movie!! In Theaters July 1998!").

But i'll tell you one thing. Them damn poke-shaped sprinkles must've been cut with a laser. There's none of that Lucky-Charms-esque undifferentiated blob of dehydrated, tongue-clinging hell. These are the products of a small, militaristic nation populated by clean, precise people. If it's supposed to be Charmander-shaped, then by damn it is Charmander-shaped. The only ones i have trouble with are the Zubats.

Zubat doesn't even deserve to be a sprinkle. All it can do is flail around and echo-locate you before you blast it out of the sky with a better Pokemon and WHY THE HELL AM I SUCH A DORK??"

SpookyMufn is a freakin genius.

You know what today's been like? You know that feeling you get when you leave a gallon of vanilla ice cream in the back of someone's car? (sorry Joe!)

That's the feeling. (sweatdrop)

twig glomped her sephy pasucon on -Sunday, August 26, 2001,09:06 p.m.

Okay okay, I know I need a new blog layout, but I /really really/ want to do a Petra layout, and that isn't going to happen soon because I really really /really/ can't draw. The first picture was a total waste of time and was immediately resigned to the circular file, but now I've come up with a new idea and I think I've really got something... of course, I also start fall semester tomorrow so God only knows... I'm really nervous about my classes.

I don't know why Lunar is dreaming about Cassiel and Wheat Thins but it makes for some great blogs. Speaking of, L... I've got the first bit of the Cassiel/Ko hot tub adventure worked out (no, it's not nearly what it sounds like) and I'll do my best to have something readable soon. I hope you're working on Looking (nudge, poke, nudge) because Lilack is right, we need to see Sydney and Ashley actually /meet/. The suspense is too much. (Oh, and do ask Ann sometime about her Atlantis crossover with Melly, Dig-Dug and Archie.)

There is nothing cooler than having Ann within arm's reach to discuss fic, even if we both spend most of our time with our headphones on staring at our computer screens.

... and on that note, I didn't even know Lilack was reading the Ryu crossover. Happy surprise! I pretty much wrote it because I couldn't think of a medium to get out the story I wanted to tell about Ryu and Michiko and the fun of being the world's only dragonslayer in a world with no dragons and of being the guardian of a magical artificat that just suddenly... stopped... working. Basically it's a wonderful little unwritten piece of nonsense about two families trying to con each other. Ryu should show up soon in A Strange Day at the Races, unless I keep adding pieces like I had to do with the last chapter.

Oh yes, and Lilack has another cool new blog layout, which may or may not be changed again by the time I post this... but no doubt the new layout is equally phat. Just amazing, that.

I'm slowly gathering ingredients for that Naked Chef vanilla thing I mentioned that was somewhat almost like flan. MMmmmMMmmmMMMmmmmMMMMmmmmmmMMMMm.

Oh yes, there's a mailing list for my site now up to join on my main page if you want to know about new chapters in case FanFiction.net goes down, or if you just want to get on and write about how much of a dork I am : )

Oh yes, and I got my first real flame too! Woo! Over Whisper of all things, the one fic with at least some justification in the show for the pairing. People are funny.

I am writing LHR. It is very hard. It hurts my head and is not cooperating. I am trying. I swear.

twig glomped her sephy pasucon on -Wednesday, August 22, 2001,11:08 a.m.

Naked Chef... for great justice!!!

Did I mention I watched an episode of the Naked Chef in Austin? Ooooooooh he's so... so... so... so...

So... so... so... so...

Hee. Anyway, while I'm busy drooling over the lanky Englishman, here's one of the recipies I think I'm gonna try... it /almost/ sounds like a flan.

Flan.

twig glomped her sephy pasucon on -Wednesday, August 22, 2001,10:17 a.m.

Damn, but Lilack has a cool blog layout. Petra really /really/ likes Haruko, so much so that I had to buy the action figure, complete with the nifty yellow Vespa... blah blah blah it's the second day at the library without any working card catalog system so we can't check in any books and I'm going freaking crazy... and I'll no doubt be checking in four or five carts full tomorrow... and a bin... bleah.

Oh hell with it, anyone truly bored can read the next chapter of Whisper here, just pretend Misato pulled the whiskey off the shelf instead of out of the fridge (I don't drink much, therefore I don't know where alcohol should be stored... my bad.)

I'm getting a crappy e-bay laptop. I'm not sure why. I think it might have to do with the hope that I'll finish LHR and K&P sometime before the end of time. Or not. Maybe I'll just get a nifty backpack to store it in. I have this container fetish... boxes, bags, blank journals... I guess I just love the concept of "potential." If there were an IKEA store around here, I would probably never leave.

Blah blah blah, I'm going crazy... the only thing keeping me sane is the promise of a nifty new room, ethernet, a really nice dinner tonight and Ann tomorrow, because my selfish ass couldn't spend a weekend alone.

... and Red, Hot and Blue pulled pork sandwiches and BBQ beans. Food of the gods.

twig glomped her sephy pasucon on -Tuesday, August 21, 2001,10:06 a.m.

Twig + moving = no free time.

Yeah. Just a short little note because I'm in medias res on just about every damn thing right now... and the compies in the library are down to boot. >.<

God only knows if FFNet's up for good this time, I think Ann was right when she said they'd probably have to start a pay service, given the stunning amount of traffic they get. Anyway, as soon as I change one tiny alcoholic detail (pointed out by the startlingly brilliant and insane SpookyMufn) I'll post Whisper 12 to my site... and to FFNet if it looks like it will be up for more than 20 seconds.

Yeah, so... crap, well since I don't know where to post the next part of "Dragon's Dowry" and I know you wanted to read it, Ann, I'll post the link here. More gratiutious Ryu bashing, natch.

twig glomped her sephy pasucon on -Friday, August 17, 2001,10:38 a.m.

... and if this trip merited nothing else, it was good to know that the song Sydney is singing in Wandering... 1? 2? is the same "Dona dona dona" as in the Nanami cow episode of Utena.

It's a small world.

twig glomped her sephy pasucon on -Friday, August 17, 2001,10:15 a.m.

I've got sunshine, in a bag...

The great Texas romp continues undaunted... and Lunar lives right next to the community college, perhaps I should just...

WHACK! NO! Bad Twig! No moving to Texas! You have no marketable skills!

Yeah. Anyway... getting Lunar fic hot off the press is a fine, fine thing. The writing continues... some LHR in longhand, K&P (trying desperately to fix a stupid error Ann found so long ago...) If I didn't have a sword obession, I swear it would have never been a problem to begin with. Too much He-Man as a child, I suppose.

I got to play BeatMania on a real controller yesterday. If DDR is video game crack, BeatMania is video game heroin. I sucked, and yet I could not pull my hands from the controls. Must buy... must buy... Cowboy Bebop was also consumed, and I made onion potatoes without blowing up the stove... /and/ I believe tonight is barbeque. I keep hailing the praises of pulled pork (yes it really /is/ that good) and perhaps have led to the tracking down of large portions of sauce-slathered meat. Mmm. Meat.

Penny Arcade is fairly good today (although since the princess was named "Dagger," does that make it the girl sword?). I play FF games if for no other reason than I know they will be 1) Very Pretty and 2)Chock full of FMV goodness. The inclusion of a silver-haired bish somewhere along the way doesn't hurt things either.

... and *sob* the store says ICO won't be out until September, though I swore Amazon.com said August. Oh well, I'll get in a few more weeks of unexpectedly decent grades before my gradepoint sinks to oblivion.

Flidget likes Oniisama E... maybe she can explain it to me sometime.

Aaaah, Texas.

twig glomped her sephy pasucon on -Sunday, August 12, 2001,06:56 p.m.

Having a hella fun time in Texas. I've dropped the chapter bomb on the teeny CCS story I've been trying to do, and bits and pieces of everything else are coming as well. Whee! Lunar also got a Welcome to Texas cheesecake (no pictures, camera without batteries.) and I played some arcade DDR 4th mix!!!! Orion-78! Butterfly Hardcore! WAI!

Hey Lilack, I'm glad you saw the end of Utena, I can't wait to see what you think of the movie. It's... wow, well it's visually very beautiful at parts but can also be surreal to the point of nonsense. What I enjoyed most was the way it changed the way the TV show might be viewed... I dunno, Utena has just always been one of my faves.

... and Lunar just showed me the end of Vagrant Story. Sweet, sweet Vagrant Story.

Lilack? One word.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

SHIORI IS THE DEVIL!!!!

Well, that was more like a couple of words, but you nearly threw me out of my chair last night with that layout. Bad mojo. : )

... and I'm not sure how much I liked Berserk, but I liked Casca and some of the other minor characters quite a bit. Once I started thumbing through the later manga... I had to run away. I guess I just don't like our two main guys that much... but Casca still rips. I definitely am not impressed with Bastard, but I do like Ruroni Kenshin quite a bit (an ardent fan since reading Tae-san's wonderful fic.) ... and Escaflowne was 1/2 of each, shonen and shojo, no?

Gohou drug? Besides the scans I put up there's not much I can tell you. This page has a summary of the first book that is ok, but I think they're off on a few points. It's close enough, though, that you can kind of get the idea.

I really need to see Blood the Last Vampire.

More later. Tired now.

Wai!!!! Ann! Your new layout looks awesome! I remember seeing it a while ago, but I forgot how cool it was (great new TY layout too... I forgot to mention that.) I also sent what I'm sure was an insane letter to the tomboys clique asking for Janny. Yours is the girl from W Juliet? Or am I out of my mind?

Big layouts... but such teeny banners (tease). ... and the Conan site is already pretty tremendous, what with all the character descriptions and such. Okay, well I guess I'll save the rest of my commentary for... about 3 hours from now? 3 1/2? (My mom wanted you to just mail that CD to me... I was like, "but then I can't spend exhorbinant amounts of money at Wizzy... I mean... eheheh.")

twig glomped her sephy pasucon on -Monday, August 6, 2001,08:37 a.m.

Hi Leareth!

Oh yes, to any of you who haven't had your daily helping of beefcake (... and yes, this /is/ the picture that inspired the "ass" conversation on one of Strawberry Pain's old blogs.) I present, thanks to the lovely Lunar, Mr. January.

Just look at that. In my head, Brendan looks something like that... Shallow? Yes. Hack? Definitely. Care? Oh nooooo.

twig glomped her sephy pasucon on -Monday, August 6, 2001,08:12 a.m.

Ooo. Natsumi has a pretty Ayashi No Ceres layout.

Lilack, come back soon! We miss you!

Things were accomplished yesterday, though not nearly enough and probably not the ones I should be working on. It's almost time to move though... that ought to precipitate in some free time.

... and I didn't feel like dropping this with the rest of the scans, but it is my favorite part in Wish, as well as one of my favorite comic moments ever.

Messenger of God going back to heaven, and you don't want him to? Well, first you grab him and then you throw him in a cage. Problem solved (I really think the little "bars shaking" lines make this scene). I mean, tossing the messenger of God into a cage? Bunny or not, how cool /is/ that?! 8 )

twig glomped her sephy pasucon on -Saturday, August 4, 2001,03:05 p.m.

So, last night I started scanning a few images for Flidget from Chobits 1 & 2 that I promised her... and then I remembered that I'd told Lilack about Gohou Drug, and I decided to scan in some pictures for her to see too... and then I realized I needed to get someone else as obsessed with WorldEnd Fairytale as I am, and so I just kept scanning and scanning and scanning... these are the results. I apologize for the fact that the scanner and some of the screentones apparantly decided it was time to go to war, as well as any pictures that might be too small if your desktop size is very large:

- Chobits scans

This is what happens when the laptop version gets an e-mail.

This is the laptop version on sleep mode, apparantly. (I had another picture but I forgot to flip it back right-side up before saving it to the web... and I'm not at home to change it.)

This is the considerably freaky PDA.

... and this is just cute enough to kill. How can this series possibly be ecchi! It doesn't work, it's like the meeting of matter and anti-matter on the pages of manga.

- Gohou Drug scans

Oh shit, dude! Your boss has glasses in a CLAMP manga! Run for your life!

I like the way these two guys cuddle. It reminds me of the son of the devil and the former angel of the wind from Wish.

Our protagonists in color.

Ann says this next image is flipped, so the text is backward. I can't tell, of course... and I was kinda busy looking at the fairly cute wuss boy who really isn't that much of a wuss... yet.

Wuss-boy's powers include wearing clothing with pot leaves on it, passing out every few pages, taking too much brown acid, apparantly, and getting hit on by everything that moves.

- WorldEnd Fairytale scans

My new obsession. I was hooked from the cover art.

I should know this guy's name by now, as he is my favorite character. He's just so /cute/, and can be thoughtful, and genki all in about 3 pages time. Also, he usually goes from normal eyes to sexy eyes every four panels. Very nice.

The hero, same as the cover. Yes, he really is a guy.

The girl with magical powers, who obviously was valedictorian at "Eva Rei's school of facial expression."

Expressionless girl's older sister

New bishonen just in time for book 2. Did I mention how much I loved this manga (although the artist does seem to have a thing for dialated pupils. Maybe they've been hanging out with the Gohou Drug cast or something.)

Shrimp-eating bishonen, away!

I'll do an actual blog post sometime later, but all the coding of these images by hand was hard... and I want to see if any of it works.

I forgot... Lunar? I will come bearing great destruction in the form of "Peony Pink," quite possibly the most evil j-pop anime ditty in existance (from CCD). If Ann tells you I'm overreacting, it's because she's already fallen under its evil influence.

twig glomped her sephy pasucon on -Wednesday, August 1, 2001,03:43 p.m.

Big blog here. I even wrote notes so I wouldn't forget things (yes that anal, yes that geeky : ) )

Speaking of, I thought it was a real shame that the geek name list linked through Ragabash listed Cray as a horrible geek name to be burdened with. If I wasn't writing anything and no one knew me as Twig, I'd be Cray right now, I think... it sounds very shiny and sleek. Of course, now I know why Ann and Heather give me those strange looks whenever I mention changing my name.

Hehe. Nope, Ann, I don't think Gohou Drug's going anywhere anytime soon, unless it degenerates into the usual CLAMP wet-dream of ambiguity (thank you Handpuppet Theatre) or unless too many people start showing up in those lovely X "oh daddy my tragic love is brutal touch me gently" poses...

Already, I kind of like the "main" character... the wussy one. He's still kind of a woman, of course, but he does have a little bit of spunk, dealing with three other guys and their continual game of "Make Advances at the Poor Little Closeted Boy." They all loom so provoctively (giggle). The art, the more I looked at it, is very much like the teddy-bear one (still not gonna try to spell it, you can't make me : p ) and... I dunno. If I knew what was going on...

So, did you buy any Tupperware? Any Tupperware that might make it be Monday yet?

I hope you're feeling better Lunar. I really didn't mean to sound critical, because I wasn't trying to be so. It was just fine, my dissatisfaction had nothing to do with what was actually written, just the way it made me think. So really, you did a great job for stirring up my brain, ne? Ne?

Well... the old blog's apparantly lost in the annals of the Web forever, so either way it doesn't matter. (nudge nudge, your line is "Of course it doesn't matter! You're a hack! Get back in the kitchen and make me a pie and I might, /might/ decide to write some more for you, Twig, you ungrateful peon!")

... and when did you read my pitas to see that there was no entry? I swear there couldn't have been more than a 10-minute gap between when I pulled down the old and put up the new. (sigh) Not that Pitas has been at all helpful. Grrr. Between not being able to look at pitas through my AOL and FF.net's implosion issues I'm about ready to throw in the towel until the end of August when at least I'm back on one computer again.

Important people, Wind-san? Where? Not here. I can't handle the pressure of being important. : ) If you really like Detective Conan, check out Ann's site. She's a kaitou phreak and Conan is one of her favorite series. She has doujinshi, a heap of the manga and even wrote a keen one-shot fanfic (although I don't know if she posted that to the site yet.) She's even working on some original fic involving theives... as obsessed with kaitou as I am with silver-haired bishy and Moby.

MOBY!!! Moby moby moby moby... if you haven't been to Moby-online you must go, and check out the "Moby updates". It's a weblog of sorts... he also has longer essays and pictures (Moby doodle as The Little Prince!! AGH!!! TOO KAWAII!!!)

On that note, I'm gathering pictures for the two cliques... one for Kotori Fans (Kotori Lives!) and another for Moby (clone moby, baby!) If all goes according to plan, Moby will sue me for using his images without permission and I'll get to meet him in court. Woo!

Hee hee hee. Lilack thinks I'm cool. Hee hee hee *glow* Thanks for the html code, it'll really help clean up my page (if I'm not too dense to figure it out). Slam-dance? Well, it's kinda the way I dance when I'm having too good a time to care what anyone thinks of me. It basically involves flailing around somewhat to the beat and taking up as much of the dance floor as humanly possible.

In my next life I /will/ have mad raver skillz... and pants. Definitely need the pants.

LHR... er... um... yeah. I don't want to jinx anything, but things are going better than they were a week ago. Of course, multiplying by zero still leaves you with zero... (wince)

Jae likes the Specials. I like the Specials... but does Jae like the Aquabats?

Meg's going to Seattle. Mmm. Sad but true, the most memorable thing about Seattle was that I found the root beer I'd been looking for since I went to Colorado (Harvey Weinhard's (sp) Root Beer and Orange Creme Soda) If it exists where you live, consider yourself truly blessed.

You know, Neil Gaiman's publishers should realize that if they make /anything/, someone out there will want to own one. Just look at us anime fans.

Speaking of... (squeeeeeek!) METAL FIGHTER MIKU'S ON DVD!!!! THANK YOU ANIME WORKS!!!! SQUEEEEEEEEE!!!! It's a crap show, with crap characters, no plot, unimpressive animation and a stupid ending... and I love it, and I want to own it.

Please don't ask, we think it came from all those paint chips I ate as a child... : )

Frank likes the layout. So terribly keen, that. I probably should have put a morning warning on it, though... I mean, if Chobits is powerful enough that I totally don't give a damn about the "hot chi-on-chi" action in vol. 2 *not really but it's too silly a phrase not to use* then that cuteness is some powerful stuff.

Remind me to scan in the bunny palm and the laptop's little tambourine dance when mail arrives.

I haven't seen the commercial he refers to. My favorites are the corduroy-pant-badger-attractant one (I really can't explain it better) and the Nike Tag and (now defunct) Horror Movie ones. Only time I hated being called a feminist, was when some whiny moron managed to get that ad pulled under the guise of feminism.

I'll show you feminism... give me a pair of tongs, some hedge clippers, three videos of "Who's the Boss" reruns, some Karo syrup, a pack of Bic Lighters, a winch and the N-Sync boys in handcuffs. "Dirty pop" my ass.

Look, you made it all the way to the end of the great rambling blog. Go get a cookie, you deserve it. : )

I just had a Japanese woman come up with a tape recorder, play me a few lines of english dialogue and ask me to write them down for her. Listening comprehension or something. It had to do with metric rulers. I have no idea what I just did, whether I was supposed to help her or not, nor how badly I might have screwed up what she was supposed to do.

Why does everyone assume that since I work at "Information" I'm supposed to know something?

Yo. Flidget wanted to know what Chobits looked like, and I was going to scan in some images and post them... and then I kind of got inspired.

So, Flidgie, this is Chobits. Chi is the pasucon (persocon?) with the long blonde hair, the one she's face-to-face with in the right hand lower corner is the laptop version. I don't really like the palm pilot bunny enough for the layout... I'll scan a picture of that one later, along with some World End FairyTale pictures.

Hey Ann, guess who left their Berserk CD in your computer? I'll give you a hint, it was me.

... and yeah, the order did come in yesterday. Illegal Drug (that's what's on the cover anyway) is of course pretty, and a bit reminiscent of the teddy-bear one (I will mangle the title if I try to spell it out) in my opinion. I'm not sure if I like it but at least it's not painful... so I guess that means... something... I dunno, I spent way too long last night on this layout.

Er, yeah... the lyrics are from "Me and My Charms" by Kristin Hersh... I'm not sure if I'm using them in even remotely the correct context, or that I've got all the words right, but it works for me.
