Miss Your First One?
Sat, 31 May 2003
I tried to look around
there, but actually I can't remember what's the brand and type of my first PC :-D
Though they look clumsy now, they used to be great in their times.
.....off the topic.....
I received article about Inul taken from
LE MONDE to practise my broken-français :-))
Great idea!! Thanks Anne-Laure!! :-)) It's funny that it still keeps the word 'Ngebor'!
Maybe 'Ngebor' can become the next word in le vocabulaire français? ;-P

Today is the Ascension Day!!
But He’s still watching :-) Thanks Lord!

Sweet Beasts
Wed, 7 May 2003
That's a title of one of Eddie Hara's Exhibitions. I was going to blog about Eddie Hara only but then that title drove my mind to the story of king Rhoma and Inul again.
Sweet Beast refers to the paradoxical values and characteristic which exist in society. Facial character might deceive; there might be a holy man with an evil mind and a so-called bete-noir but with a white heart. See, doesn’t it fit the story well? Anyway, more about supports for Inul can be viewed
here.
Back to
Eddie Hara, I like his simple lines but rich colours paintings and the witty allusions that he made. He uses some characters repeatedly but they don’t bore me at all.
I Don't Like Doll, But...
Thu, 1 May 2003
This has been altered a bit with PaintShop on 10 May 2003! Look cuter eh? ;-) The original one remains intact 'n untouched there on the Sketchpouch, I don't really like it though, it looks too serious
A lot of times I saw kind of tiny winny dolls on some bloggers’ sites. I don’t know how they made those dolls, but I wanted my own! So wusshhh… an instant inspiration popped-up voluntarily into my head ;-)
Why not doing something similar but singular at the same time? Something with Indonesian touch! ;-)
So I rushed to visit my lonely
Sketchpouch to collaborate my fingers and my mind to torture the mouse again! Yes, I did the drawing with a mouse! It’s wearying indeed but…
Voila…as seen on the screen...tiny me in kebaya!
Kebaya is sexy, exotic, but can also constraining for people who are not used to wear it. Maybe kebaya made of Lycra will help to ease the discomfort :-D
Here
’The Accidental Bridesmaid’ ~written by a foreign~ is not only illustrating the trouble of wearing kebaya but also the amazements that follow. So adventurous! (-_-)
Not a Dangdut Petition
Tue, 29 April 2003
‘J’espère que tu deviendras un jour accro de dangdut :)’
That’s what David, one of my pen pals wrote to me last year.
Actually I’m not anti-dangdut at all, but these adjectives given by him quite describe what I generally think about this music: ‘drôle, répétitif, étonnant, avec des paroles très fleurs bleues. Bref, que de sentiments exacerbés!’
Lol, sorry dangdut lovers!
Bref aussi, this is about poor Inul, the Indonesian dangdut icon :-P
She really has burnt the beard of king Rhoma (not the King of Rome of course), the old Dangdut King of Indonesia.
Recently this king Rhoma commanded his zealots to boycott Inul. He announced the whole member of his kingdom to stay away from her, to not giving her any chance to sing their songs, including his songs of course, and to command all TV stations to ban her from performing on all channels - as if he owned them!
Actually he and his devoted zealots should thank Inul instead of condemning her of being immoral, because now people like me can appreciate dangdut. Inul brings positive atmospheres into dangdut. Dangdut is no more just a weepy-crappy-sentimental music with indecent lyrics, but more energetic.
It’s very outrageous to claim that she may inspire people of evildoings such as sexual-assault. It’s the law here that fails to protect women’s right and the injustice against women that should be fixed.
So unrelated! For me, it sounds like a big covetousness wrapped by a so called moral value issue. Maybe because Inul was featured in
BBC and
Time while the king himself never get that big portion.
I agree with what Guruh Sukarno Putra said, which is more or less like this: ‘anything can evoke a pervert’s mind because in any way a pervert will remain a pervert (with or without Inul).’
So don’t blame Inul, better pack your things ye olde king! you’re nothing but an old Pharisee!
Hmm, I sound like a #1 fan of dangdut now! I’m notttt! I just feel sorry for unfairness that has been thrown over Inul.
Free to be Exposed!
Wed, 23 April 2003
As an Indonesian I have the morale to spread the intellectualness of young Indonesian artists and writers. So here are some of them mingling to be exposed by the world through
Badd Painting, a generous Indonesian publishing house. Books are available for online reading for free!
Bunga Jeruk and her paintings are also there. I've seen some articles about this promising artist featured in our big local newspaper sometime ago.
This site and other included links within are 98.88889% in English language!
The rest are in Bahasa Indonesia, they're mostly the name of person, address, city, etc though ;-P
Comic Strip
Mon, 21 April 2003
I miss
“Hagar the Horrible”!!
I used to have 4 books of ‘HtH’, all by
Dik Brown. I enjoyed them so much that I urged my friends to read them too. So I lent them all.
It’s ages ago. I forgot what happened, now only one unshapen ‘HtH’ left :-(
I’ve never seen HtH in any bookstore here anymore. Even long time ago, only one bookstore had it.
Anyway this
Daze of Our Lives is another comic strip. It combines engraving art of the 19th century with the irreverent and ironic humour of the author. One of the strips gave me this
new view of photography :-D
The Gist of Easter

Happy Easter to all of you who celebrate it (-_-)
I sound very serious, I hate that ;-)
Good Friday
Fri, 18 April 2003
Sometimes my curiosity leads me to another thing.
I was wondering why it is called
Good Friday in English? In Bahasa Indonesia it is Jumat Agung or if I translate it back into English that will be Exalted Friday.
Anyway let me say ~Good Bye~ for now ;-P
Do You Draw?
Wed, 16 April 2003
It says

This is a project that aims to show humanity at human proportions. There will be 500,000 drawing entries selected from this site to be compiled into a book. This book will have 12,000 copies, so the total of them will be 6 billion which is the world population number in September 1999.
Interesting! (-_-)

Wuff..Wuff...
Tue, 03 April 2003
I can't imagine if
The Dog Island really existed.
I doubt if dog's lovers could live apart from their dogs, I can't. I don't think the dogs prefer to be away from their human friends either. The Dogologist should have considered this too. So what about a Dog's Owner Island as its neighbouring island?

What
If Xena Came to Jakarta?
I found this witty url some times ago, so it's quite outdated, but the idea is quite cracking ;-)
The only shortage is the void of Indonesian hero character in this fictitious story
Yummy Dream
Sun, 30 March 2003
This word sounds a yummy dream! :-D
Trustafarian.
I met one tonight and seems a nice lad.
Too bad my ICQ still remains bananas! and I still can't find out the problem so it's actually almost impossible to chat these days!
What a lost, I could have asked him how to become one otherwise ;-)
The good catch is this trustafarian inquiry headed me to the
Wordspy. A great universe of words!!
