So she sayeth...
Tuesday, April 17, 2001 1:34 a.m. Well, a belated Happy Friday the 13th and Happy Easter. ^^ I went home this weekend where I once again affirmed how scholastically unproductive I am in my house. I seriously have no idea how I made it through high school. Anyway, it was nice to be home for a few days. I'm going back in two weeks for my friend's wedding. Imagine that. I never pegged her as the first one of our little group to get married (that was Jeannette actually), but here we are. I'm dragging Matt along with me. Well, he willingly agreed to go actually, but who's really counting? ^^
I finally got the rest of my Animenation order last week, and I got to pick it up this weekend. ^^ Only took them 4 months, but it was all import so... Anyway, I got my spiffy Cowboy Bebop soundtracks (the first one and No Disc). I had "The Singing Sea" running through my head the remainder of the weekend. X_x. I also got the Escaflowne radio drama Thoughts on Jeture. It's really nice. It came with a booklet with the complete so I can follow along. Just from glancing over it, it looks followable. ^^ Ah, but it's still something else to add to the dusty translations to do pile. Also being added to that pile is the three Fushigi Yuugi novels I got. Each one is about a Suzaku seishi that tells about their lives a couple years before the series takes place. The first one's about Tasuki, second is about Chichiri, and the third is about Nuriko. ^^ My favorite seishi actually. I'm happy with them. However, Animenation deserves a sound cursing for advertising these things as *manga* because they aren't. While there are some illustrations in the book, they are not *manga.* They're *novels.* Granted the mini-description says they're novels and are in Japanese and they have "numerous illustrations througout" it still gives the genre as "import manga." I guess next time I should read more carefully. ^^ Less pictures and more story, and now more translation practice for me.
I got a big packet o' stuff from JCMU today on Americanism and how Americans are usually stereotyped overseas. Most of the stereotypes they listed I'd heard, but one of the things really surprised me: that it's apparently widely held that all American women are promiscuous. o_o I know the loud, obnoxious, rude, informal American stereotype, but I had never heard that one before. That actually reminds me of an article from the Onion. A point-counter point between an American woman ("European Men Are the Most Romantic in the World") and a European man ("American College-Coed Women are the Easist Lays in the World".) Makes you wonder how that sterotype came about.
Anyway, bed is looking mighty nice now. I'd hate to stay up until 2 am and have it be Flunk Day tomorrow. (Meaning I'd have a grand total of 4-5 hours of sleep). Oh, I probably have never explained the concept of Flunk Day in here since I started this in August. o.o Well, Flunk Day is just what it sounds like. The whole campus is roused from sleep at an early hour (around 7 a.m.) and we cancel classes and just have fun the rest of the day. Activities include heavy drinking, more drinking, a variety of games, kareoke, drinking, watching the faculty softball game, a usually crappy concert, picnic lunch and dinner, more drinking (get the picture? o_o;;), and other fun stuff. Hmm, long entry today. ^^ nite.

Wednesday, April 11, 2001 01:22 p.m. Bit 'o Randomness: Dear lord, it's raining so hard right now it actually looks foggy. O_o Did my blog always spill over to the right? Hmm. Now that I sorta redesigned, I can't remember. Does Karen have "angry skillz" instead of "mad skillz?" What did I forget to do today? What better wedding present than a glass candy dish! Bananas.
Hee, wasn't that just odd? Yes. It was. Moving on though. I've been keeping up with the "blog war," but haven't said anything because I don't want to be dragged into it. I *have* formed an opinion though, and I took the poll. ^^ But it's best, I think, to just end it now. Indeed: Minna-san, issho ni itte kure! O*wa*ri da! o.o Onegai desuuuu? ^^ Tatakai no koto ga kirai yo.
I found out last night that it seems that the Japanese department is searching for a position for next year. My professor--who IS the Japanese department, darn small college *grumble grumble*--is giving a canidate talk on Thursday. From all that went on in fall term, I'm guessing that this means they're doing a nation-wide search for a tenure position. Of course, I don't know that for sure since I've never asked. I did talk to an ichinensei about it who I'll see tonight in class so I can hopefully get the gist of the situation before the talk. Again, we'll see. ^_^
In other random news, I'm going home this weekend for Easter which means random updates. (Like I ever update more than just randomly anyway. ^^;) I've noticed I seem to be exploiting the "random" part of my title lately. hehe. Anyway, I should be finishing homework for class now. Ja na.

Wednesday, April 11, 2001 02:15 a.m. Yum yum! It's that season again. Tasty unedible birdies! :P
I never get tired of chuckling at this.
Well, in an attempt to appear more l33t, I've spiffed up the ol' blog a little bit. ^^ We'll see how I like it in the days to come. It may be added to or changed depending on how much I screwed up on tonight. I know the tables are off. That'll be fixed tomorrow after sleep. And someday maybe I'll get myself a picture and a non-template layout. woooo.
Well, I think I may have crawled out of the funk. Or at least got irked enough at something else that I forgot about being depressed. o.o That thing? Fiction Workshop. Not the class content, mind you. I love workshop, but this term's little addition that we are *required* to attend no less than 2/3 of the fine art events on campus this term really irks me. Why? Because I don't know if I can do it. o_o I'm going to be gone for 3 weekends (2 if I can't manage to get myself to ACen) out of the remaining 7 weeks (6 not counting finals weekend). One weekend is my own choir concert which as a result I must miss two events that weekend. And 2/3 of the events could translate to 20 or more events. I'm all for supporting the fine arts, but I honestly don't know if I'll be able to do it. o_o We shall see though.

Tuesday, April 10, 2001 12:30 a.m. yo. Don't ask me why I'm blogging right now. I'm really not in the best of moods. Not that I know *why* I'm in a mood right now. I've been in a funk all weekend. But I guess I have to act *happy* for people so they don't feel put out and dive into a pit of self-pity that they themselves suck because of my unamused self. Heaven forbid I have any settings other than "genki." ¬_¬ Someone fetch me Chichiri's mask. Da.
Anyway, beyond that it was a weekend. The weather was all funky including humidity, rain and more rain, thunderstorms, high winds, and warm weather. As I said, the weekend wasn't all that fun. Friday was great though. I was really uppity and happy (oddly enough o.o) during the afternoon. It was Improv Show day that night. They're always really side-splitting funny and this time was no exception. Although the whole production seemed a little more casual and unpolished than usual, but that's just an observation, not a point of criticism. And as to the "unpolished" comment, yeah it's improv :P but I meant the transitions from game to game and what not. Then J-Club per the usual. We watched my tapes of Mahou Tsukaitai! People were amused--as they should be. XD I love that OAV. It's so cute. I can't wait for the commercial release. I want to see the TV series too, but I remember hearing somewhere it wasn't that good. Hmm. Maybe that was the Nuku Nuku TV series, which I agree for the episodes I saw, wasn't that funny.
Saturday I had some yummy ravioli and Matt and I watched various things including the MSTing of "Hobgoblins." I swear this is the WORST movie I have ever seen. It was obviously made on a budget of $500 and the actors were picked up off the street 10 minutes before the shoot started. No one in the movie could act. The FX consisted of several stuffed animals moved around by an unseen tech person. At one point a character caught fire (we're talking '"Firestarter" final scene-type on fire) and supposedly died. None of the characters EVER acknowledge that he is even on fire or dies horribly--even his slutty girlfriend--and after it happened they steal his car!. Actually, he was handed a grenade, which exploded and caused him to catch on fire. That's bad, eh? Well, just you wait. At the end of the movie the character comes back perfectly alive and normal only with a few bloody bandages wrapped around his arms and he's on crutches. Literally after 30 seconds of comments like "Oh! You're not dead. Yay!" he and his girlfriend jump into his van and have sex. O_o So before you watch this movie--which you should if you're into that sort of mental torture O_o--make sure your stomach is prepared and your brain is too. God, that movie was just DUMB. The MSTing was really funny though. It was like fire-bombing hobgoblins at Club Scumm. Oh, wait! So it was! heh.
Da.

Friday, April 6, 2001 12:57 a.m. You fight like a dairy farmer.
Japanese is warping my English. I hadn't noticed much of it until yesterday when I got a phone call from JCMU asking me a question (Are you going to be doing _such and such_ or not?) and I replied "Mmm-hmm." Of course meaning, "Yes, I understand the question." And she replied "Ok, that's all I needed to know." o_o;; Luckily I was able to catch her before she hung up because the answer to the question was actually "no." Just a strange diddy I thought I'd share. Also speaking of JCMU I found out yesterday that the group flight being planned is Detroit-Chicago-Tokyo-Nagoya and I can meet up with the group at any point. Right now my choice is Chicago because going to Detroit either directly or through Chicago would be additional waste of time on a plane. It looks like there's a four hour lay over time in Tokyo too. Good amount of time to get out to some stores and get back in time for the flight. ^_^; But I dunno if they'd let us out of the airport or if we even could or should. I'm leaving the States on May 30 and leaving Japan on August 7.
Trouble she could be a brewin' on the Knox campus tonight. Well, its all happening in email though. We got this all-staff, all-student email this afternoon from the campus safety office about a survey on and the suggestion that campus security be allowed to carry pepper spray and handcuffs. Personally, I could care less, but it's a good idea since they have nothing else to defend themselves or others with right now other than a walkie-talkie and a cell phone. O_o; "Get back or I'll charge you high long distance rates! Back!" Anyway, so this email was responded to by the Director of the Learning Center in support of it. Then some dumbass decided that he was going to flame the director, replying again to the entire campus. Then an email to the entire campus in response to that guy came around explaining how stupid he was to flame the director came out. And now there have been seven additional emails in response to this (most of them inane)and they just keep coming at the rate of several per hour. o_o I wonder what the profs and the administration are gonna think when they check their email tomorrow morning. It's not going to be very happy, I'm betting right now. Oh, and the kicker: the whole student list also received an email tonight in the midst of all this entitled "All your base are belong to us" and of course inside was the link. @_@ Urge to pull out hair and scream...rising! It's old, dammmit! It's been two months since the 'round the Net circle. Sanity...how I miss thee.
In other keen news, I have roommates for next year. Yay! I got lucky these past two years and scored a double single by having my roomate not come back. However, last year that required throwing myself to the mercy of the housing lottery, but this time I managed to find people and even people who are in the Japanese Club. Actually, all 5 of us speak Japanese either as ninensei or sannensei. (Next year at least. I don't know what I am since I've only had 2 and 1/3 years of it. O_o Sannen? I will be by the time I'm done with JCMU. I hope.) And by winter term 4 of us will have been to Japan. One is there now and two are going for fall term. Best of all I'm not in the dorms anymore. ^_^ We're in a nice apartment supposedly with a balcony. Yay! It's been a bright and happy day for me even though it thunderstormed for half of it. I feel like sparkling. ^_^ But it's bed time. Bai!

Sunday, April 1, 2001 11:53 p.m. Happy April Fool's. o.o I really didn't realize that was today until right about now. It's not a *real* holiday since we don't get time off from school. Although in the cosmic sense I got a nice joke played on me--day light savings time. *mumble grumble* Never fails to occur the day I get up several hours earlier than normal and I NEED to be awake, moving, and functioning properly. Now we have to wait six months for that hour back. Such evil.
Anyway, except for Friday this weekend was such a blast! Matt and I watched the MST3k tape "The Deadly Bees" that night after leaving J-Club very early since he was feeling bad. [Wha, speaking of J-Club, we might be going as a group to ACen this May!] Saturday evening we went up to Beloit, which I discovered really is literally just over the border. I'd say a 5 minute drive tops from the college to the Illinos sign. The first sign of civilization across the border was--I kid you not!--an ad sign for a store that sold cheese and fireworks. O_o; We actually *found* this store across the parking lot from the hotel. It says in big permanent letters on the building "[StoreName] Cheese * Fireworks * Gifts" We were prepared for some serious partying at that point! XD What could be a finer way to spend a Saturday night? But instead we just went to eat at Applebees and Culvers (for yummy frozen custard masked as ice cream). We somehow got really silly and laughed our butts off at the menu. They sold among other things concrete shakes/malts and Dairyland Cheese Curds. XD Yummy! Then we went back to the hotel to sleep.
We did as well as we expected at the tournament--not very well. Soundly whupped, actually. o_o But that's ok, it was a learning experience and we took interesting photos. I was very surprised at the variety (and lack of variety) in the participants. I was expecting to fence college age people, but there were also people older than that, all the way up to middle age too. As to the lack of variety, silly me, but I was expecting a few more female fencers there, although I guess I shouldn't be surprised by now. Probably 80% of Knox's club is male and so I fence them all the time so I wasn't upset at all, but just plain surprised. o_o Including me there were three women doing foil and two others did epee/saber. (I only do foil, btw so I wasn't paying attention to the other competitions.) That's out of 31 foil fencers. Unfortunatly I didn't get to fence either of them, and I sorta wanted to. One was really, really good from what I heard. Anyway, my body says I was up at 6:30 this morning so I should get to bed. Ja.
Oh, PS: My life is on the verge of losing all meaning. Why? Both memory cards on my Playstation aren't working again. I hope my card is still fine... -_-;

Friday, March 30, 2001 02:08 p.m. If there's anything more fun than laundry, it's hauling that same laundry up and down four flights of stairs. XD Begin Entry.
Haloo! It's Friday, as you've probably already noticed by now. I did. I had scholastic thingies all week. I'm currently writing a short story for fiction about a girl who's bored with her life in the Midwest. ^^ That's just part of the story though. It's been a pain trying to get ideas, but I think I've stumbled upon something I think will work. The main character has an interesting little sister named Melody who's always speaking in different foreign languages but no one knows where she learns them, so I think I'll delve into that idea for a bit.
Fencing was last night and I was pummeled in several places. o.o They hurt. At least I won't be going to the doctor anytime soon and won't have any doctors wondering if I'm being abused. That really happened last fall. o.O; I also got the bill for JCMU this week. Here I thought I was loved, because here at Knox we judge our selfworth by how much mail we get. But no such luck for me. I got my fencing membership thing so I can go to the tournament on Sunday. We're leaving on Saturday night so we can hang about and not have to get up at an ungodly hour Sunday morning. The tournament's in Beloit (3 hours from here) and starts at 9 a.m. Which should be interesting for me since I haven't gotten up before 9:40 for the past three weeks so my sleep pattern will get very screwed up. O_o;
I had something else to blog about earlier in the week, but I've plumb forgotten what it was. I think it was a rant some something or other. I think it was the price of a pair of soccer socks--$5.95. O_o; Ara. Oh, and I finally got Pander. XD Now go and get genki, all! End Entry.

Say it isn't so.
Karen: You blogged this several days ago, but about the Iron Chef thing. I actually heard the music again in a regular show over Spring Break. My dad saw part of it too and he said that part of the opening music also comes from the movie "Backdraft." o_o Seems they like to take tracks from a variety of places. Oh, and I checked my music, and it's Track 2 of the 1st Esca. OST, if anyone's interested.
I'm still here, fear not. o_o Well, classes have been going for me. Somehow time must have slowed down last week because it felt like the week lasted forever. Of course, then the weekend was back on Fast Forward. Never fails. :P Anyway, I'm back in the groove now with stuff. I'm enjoying my new classes and have managed not to fall behind yet. Just give me time. Wha ha ha. I've been whooping booty in Bust a Groove 2. I've got all the hidden characters sans Pander. Somehow I managed to unlock three at once with just one finishing of the game. O_o; I have no idea how that happened, but I'll take it.
Along with normal scholastic goingson, J-Club was Friday. We watched the dub of Mononoke Hime. Unfortunatly my fellow club members couldn't keep their mouths shut during the movie. Usually people, including myself, tend to MST the sillier and deserving bits of the anime we watch. But, you know, Mononoke Hime does not need that. There was much shushing and "shut the fuck up"ing toward the end of the movie where it turns extra serious, but all of this was coming from the people who were doing the MSTing. Several then who turned around and MSTed again. Carries a lot of weight... Anyway, I survived though irked. It was a much better film than I remember it. I liked it at the time, thought it was really beautiful and touching. The dub job was good, but I still didn't feel too strongly about that. After watching it again, I realize the actual goodness of the dub. I still need to see it subbed though, just to compare. So the Lady has an English accent. It just makes her sound more ladylike and cultured, which is probably how she talked in Japanese in the first place. There's very very little silly dialouge like you find in most dubs, and it flows yummily. Too bad they all couldn't be that way. ^_^;
This weekend I'm joining several other folks and going to participate in a fencing tournament in Beloit. Fun, ne? I have no idea how good these fencers are so, I'm fearing right now. I'm hoping not to look like too much of an idiot. I've been fencing for a year, but I can and have only practiced once a week since January '00. I'm not that good either. -.-; I can't get any extra practice in this week or this term since the days practice is offered, I'm either a: in class b: at choir or c: at fencing. Oh well. We'll just see what happens. ^^;

Monday, March 19, 2001 11:28 p.m. Well, it's been a full and interesting day today. ^_^ Mostly good stuff. Hmm...actually it was all good news. ^^ Surprising, ne? Anyway, I finally got Bust a Groove 2 in the mail today. It came two days after I left for break. Howzat for timing. More on that in a moment. Also over break I got more info from JCMU. They sent me the blessed student handbook. Everyone together now: "ooooh." Good and useful stuff in there--as one would hope and expect. The program is apparently arranging group travel, which I would much prefer to do than travel alone. This would be the first time for me not only leaving the country but also traveling alone. One thing about the group travel though, at this point I'd have to somehow make it to the Detroit airport to join. But who knows if they're going from there directly to Japan or if they're going to Chicago first. I would be going from CR to Chicago of course and then straight to Japan. We'll see what the group plan is once they send out more info. It's possible I could meet the group in Chicago. Which would be very keen. Last time I tried to get to Michigan (landing in Detroit I believe) was my junior year of high school and the only way (or maybe it was the cheapest way...O.o) to get there was to connect through Chicago. So the group might have to do that. I'm not up on airline stuff these days. That flight I just mentioned was the last one I went on.
I also got my grades yesterday. They were very good. I pulled off an A for my independent study. Wha ha ha. I'm proud now. I also didn't have to spend much on books this term, even though I bought a lot. That's just more money to spend in Japan. hehehe. I had my first class today too. I think it's going to be good. Tomorrow I go to Poetry and Weds. fiction starts. So, because those classes can't offer me work and my two assignments for the class are impossible to do since I don't get the information for them until tomorrow, I had nothing to do the entire day. Thus, I played BaG at various times throughout the whole day. I did pretty good compared to the last time I played. Which was very very sucky. I practiced for quite awhile though before I started in on the 1 player game. I've also been listening to a few tracks on mp3 for practice too. It paid off. I first beat the game straight through on the the bottom row with Strike (with less than 200 points between me and RZG), then tonight I actually made it to Pander....^^;;; And beat him. But that was with Kitty-N. After 10 really ugly tries on the stage. And then just barely. @_@ I got Hustle Kong in the process too. I guess my groove came in the mail today too...or something.

Monday, March 19, 2001 1:20 a.m. Karen, yes I'd love it! ^^ Thankies!
For some reason I am just really tired right now. I didn't do anything today. O_o Strenuous anywayz. I'm back at school now yay. I did have a bit of good news. My class that I thought was 2nd hour is actually 3rd hour--meaning I get an extra hour and 20 minutes of sleep. This term is going to be an interesting one. Besides my self-study of Japanese, for classes I have Fiction Workshop, Modern and Contemporary Poetry, and a SoAn class on Native Americans. I ran out of East Asian Studies related courses to take until next year. -_-;
FF9 Ending Discussion, Possible Spoilers...
In other fine news I beat FF9 tonight. It took a good bit of wailing on the final (final) boss to win. That thing was hard. Luckily I beat it before it had a chance to cast Grand Cross or Neutron Star on me more than once a piece. Neutron Star is NOT a nice spell. @_@ Kuja on the other hand was a little bastard to beat. He kept casting spell after spell before I could even heal anyone. His most evil thing to do was to knock one of my characters down to 1 HP then cast Firaga/Thundaga on my party. Then just as I got around to reviving the dead party member he cast Flare Star on my entire party, killing one or two other people. Grr. But, as to the actual ending, finally! an RPG ending since Chrono Trigger and FF6 that I've felt satisfied with. FF8 was all right (I love the video camera thing!), but at that point I was still hung up on the lack of plot continuity to feel much of anything. I didn't like Chrono Cross's endings very much. I haven't gotten 2 of the extra ones yet though. But FF9's ending is very nice and very sweet. Many characters finally got their acts together and became couples. I was cheering loud for Freya and Beatrix. ^_^ Such a warm fuzzy-filled ending.

Friday, March 16, 2001 10:32 p.m. Break's almost over....*snifflies* I can't believe it went by this fast, but that happens when you're having fun. O_o Or something similar to it. I bummed around the whole week, catching up on my needed sleep. I did indeed get bored by Sunday and Monday, but I managed somehow. ^^; I caught up on FF9, and I'm almost ready to head into the final area. I've got to build some levels before I go though. I have such a gap between my characters--Zidane is on level 58 while my lowest character (Quina) is on level 34. O_o; I've heard the final area is packed with bosses and references to FF1, none of which I will of course get since I never played any of the FF games previous to the fourth. I finally FINALLY got myself a gold chocobo. You would not believe the effort that went into that. So much more annoying than the FF7 chocobo breeding. Argh. Be prepared to invest at least 8 hours of game time if you want one of those things. They ARE useful though. I got myself a Ragnarok, Ultima Sword, Ultima Weapon, and other useful things thanks to my chocobo. Zidane now kicks butt with a 100 point attack. *_* Oh, and a warning to all those who would play the game. Finish exploring the world before Disc 4 starts (that is before you go to the Shimmering Island). Certain areas WILL be closed off to you once Disc 4 starts. I haven't run into a problem due to that yet other than the fact I can't find the moogle Mois -_- who I need in order to revive Mognet Central.
Not many other bloggable topics. Just lounged basically. I worked out at my mother's "gym" thing with her a couple of times and shopped for stuff I needed like food. Today I was dragged out to look at towels for the revamped bathroom--which isn't in any way finished. Don't ask me why my parents have gone on this home improvement kick since I left for school. It's weird, everytime I come home there's something different about the house. Anyway, we, of course, didn't find the towels my mom saw and wanted to show me. We didn't buy any. I did buy myself a Discman though for when I go to Japan. I thought it would be a useful thing to take. After I bought it I could not believe how many people I had to explain the concept of a discman to. O_o; Frightening. Stephanie and Val came over this afternoon, and we watched some anime--Slayers, Dragon Half, and 2 tapes of the Rayearth OAV. The Rayearth OAV translation was quite interesting. There were about 20 different translations of "Kore wa...!" and "Masaka blah blah blah" in the whole film. ^^; It didn't help that half the dialog was half sentences like that though. The other half, is of course the three girls calling out, "Umi!" "Fuu!" "Hikaru!" ^_^; It was very entertaining though and of course visually pleasing. It *is* CLAMP afterall.
Well, I'm going back to school on Sunday where I'll happily and finally receive my copy of Bust a Groove 2 in the mail (on Monday). I only waited close to two months for it. O_o; Strange though since they shipped 2 of 3 of the items I ordered five days after I placed the order, then it takes this long to ship the last item. Oh well. As long as I have it. ^^

Saturday, March 10, 2001 12:21 a.m. oy, hissashiburi... ^^ Thanks everyone for the congrats. I'm more excited now that I can think beyond the present. Winter term is over once again. Yay. I'm so glad to be finished with everything. I don't think I could have written anymore on my paper or my finals if I tried. And like I wanted too! XP Anywayz. I'm home now, basking in the freezing cold that is my house. I always forget that. Everytime I come home. See, my dorm room is always toasty warm and sometimes even roasting so I always wear shorts and a t-shirt to bed. When I come home however I have to pile on the flannel and the long-sleeves. Of course, I left my flannel pjs at school. @_@ I'll find something though.
Home is still home. Although Frisky is bigger now, less of a kitten and also is really, really plump. ^^; I don't have much planned for break. I'm taking the opportunity to do academic type work as little as possible. FF9, Lunar, and the last CC ending are on my current agenda. Along with that is sleep, sleep, and sleep. I've been so bad about gettin sleep the past two weeks that I think I really need it. Then I'll probably get bored with that and try and find something else to do. (I'm guessing this will be Sunday.) Well, I suppose I should expound upon my week, though there's not much to say since it was mostly racing to finish finals and things. I'm proud to say my poetry portfolio actually had a good title--"Shadows of Zero." The whole thing turned out well, as did my Kurosawa paper which will hopefully be the longest paper I ever write. I was very pleased at the easiness of my history final. It was two parts--one take home essay and two in-class essays and non-cumulative. The questions were thankfully ones I could write a lot about so I should get a decent grade.
Oh, I must blog about J-Club last Friday! We watched the last half of the Haunted Junction series (it's 12 episodes long total, BTW). Its such a funny series. Where else can you here anime characters scream in English "Oh my God!" at the most random things. My favorite episode was the one based on Red Mantle the world's most bishy biseinen. On the show, he can charm any female and has been known to cause 80 year old grandmothers to lie in bed for three days with fever. In said episode, this girl named Blue Hanten is trying to scooch him out of the spotlight as one of the number one bathroom spirits in the country. She's going to do this in several ways and one is to remove his mask. After a series of really funny attempts to remove it, they actually do...at hot damn if he ISN'T the bishiest person in the world. Dear lord he was suteki! *_* Much more so than Hotohori was ever on FY, who he actually resembles, only more beautiful. The girls in the audience, including me ^^ were all drooling and some were squealing. (Uh, I think that might have been me too...^^;;;) Anywayz, all of the characters on the show promptly because entranced with him--even the guys! It was so amusing! XD Two days after the event the main character whose name I forget (a guy) still makes sparkly eyes at Red Mantle whenever he sees him. hehe! Oddly enough, I myself developed a headache and slight fever when I went home after it was over. ^^;;
Hmm...my well of interesting blogging topics has run dry. So I'll end this thing. Nite.

Friday, March 2, 2001 12:01 a.m. Well, good news today. I got an acceptance letter from JCMU. I'm going to Japan this summer. ^_^ It still hasn't really sunk in yet, it's like that with most major things for me. Actually, I'm more preoccupied with the "now" to think about three months from now. Finals are a week from today, and I need to catch up on stuff. I should be reading, but I just had to blog though. I'm actually waiting for various comics in the MegaTokyo archive to load while I'm doing this. I'm such a webcomic addict now. Beats having to wait three months for my pull file at Alter Ego. Less expensive too. ^^;
Well, as has been in all my comments I've typed this week, not much has been up other than finals catch up and race to. I'm so proud--I'm 2/3 done with my independent study paper on Kurosawa, but I still need to watch two more movies and write about them. @_@ I'm such a lazy ass this term. Saa, well, I'm still going to be coming home at the end of next week, depsite this rush of stuff. Wow. I'm going to Japan. ^___^ Still sinking in I guess. I'm nervous and happy all at the same time. Nervous for the fact that I haven't been practicing Japanese for so long and I have two months to reteach myself what I learned. I need to get in the 300 level class over there, otherwise I won't get credit at Knox and much time and money will be wasted on the effort. -.- That and my independent major will probably be affected too.
Hmm. That was really a lot of stuff strung together. Oh well. Anywayz, more character selectors. Gotta love 'em. Here's my ideal anime woman results I took just for chuckles (I'm looking at it as more of a best friend test.) Turns out that many of the top ones were like me O_o not my ideal mate.
# 1 Amy (Sailormoon)[like I said, more like her, but we'd be good friends]
# 2 Fuu (MK Rayearth)[ditto.]
# 3 Hikaru (MK Rayearth) [a boy version of Hikaru would be fun. ^^]
# 4 Skuld (Oh my Goddess)[good little sister material]
# 5 Kari (Digimon)[don't watch digimon]
# 6 Lita (Sailormoon)[I'm a lot like Mako-chan so I guess we'd be good friends]
# 7 Misato (Eva) [yeah right! I'd be too busying yelling at her to pick up all her empty beer cans :P]
# 8 Misty (Pokemon)[O_o; don't watch pokemon]
# 9 Rei (Eva) [we're alike, but we'd probably just sit there and not talk to each other]
# 10 Sora (Digimon)[again, digimon bad]
# 11 Belldandy (Oh my Goddess)[^^ Belldandy is a great friend for anyone.]
And the beginning results to two very different Escaflowne tests. O_o;
# 1 Hitomi
# 2 Allen
# 3 Van
# 4 Folken
----
# 1 Folken Fanel
# 2 Migel Labariel
# 3 Dornkirk
# 4 Van Fanel
# 5 Hitomi Kanzaki
Heh. Interesting, ne? BTW, on the first test listed here Matt got Van for #1. Ain't that sweet? :P He also got Rei (from EVA), Amy (SM), and Fuu (MKR) as his top ideal women. Anyone who knows me can snicker and raise their eyebrows now. :P
Ja.

Tuesday, February 27, 2001 01:20 p.m. I archived. I'm wondering now why I'm blogging since I have so much I should be doing. O.o; Oh well. "Should" is the key word here. Anywayz, yesterday was so much fun. I promised a mini-rant if push came to shove, and it did. Reaffirming my belief that every direct contact I have with the registrar just makes my life unhappier. Short version is that I was closed out of a class last Friday so I had to see my advisor to replace it. He sent me home after deciding that I'd take another AP class (which I need to graduate) to sign up via my account on the computer. Which, I soon discovered you cannot do. O_o; So then I spent the whole weekend (sans the time I was in Chinatown) irked that this had happened. Add to this the fact that all of the classes I was thinking about adding are closed too. Now, my advisor is literally the busiest person in the world, and it's excruciatingly hard to locate him, so I figured this would be going on for days. Fortunately I reached him at home yesterday and we worked some things out. I ended up racing to the registrar after class before the office closed to sign up with the blank yet signed form he left me on the door. At least I can breath easier now.
I can't believe the term is almost over again. It seems like it just started, but then again I say that at the end of every term. Spring Break will be a welcome thing. I'm going to do absolutely nothing of academic value if I can. Nothing but catching up on my video game playing and goofing off cuz potentially I'm going to be in school January to August with only a week off. If I get into the JCMU program that is. My mother mentioned in an email that she would like me to clean out my room of unwanted junk (if possible) during break. My answer is a fat "No." First of all, I hate cleaning, I hate throwing out things unless its garbage, I really hate cleaning, and I only have a week to myself and I don't want to spend it cleaning. O_o; It's not anyone is in my room messing it up during the time I'm gone. Our family computer is in there now, but it's supposedly suppose to be transferring to my brother's old bedroom in the future, but that's the only traffic my room gets other than the cats going in and out. Fortunatly I think my mom was in a cleaning fit when she wrote me so by the time I get home, she might be calmed down about it. *crosses fingers*
Well, I also took the Ideal Anime Man Selector. I'm so pleased! ^_____^

I don't know enough about KKJ to comment on #1, but... Chichiri...*_* WAI! That's pretty darn accurate because I adore Chichiri. Ureshii... I dunno how Zagato and Touga got up there. I think Touga's a bastard, but judging from the manga he seems to turn into a nicer guy, so once I see the end of the TV series, my opinion could change. He's still hot though. Hehe. Ashitare, Nakago, Akio, and Gendo are all on the bottom. XD So true. I hate them all--ok, I don't really *hate* Gendo. He just irks me--definitely not my ideal man.
