Yes, I haven't updated for a week. O_o; *smacks self* Well, I've been busy! So let me tell you all about it! Last week was riddled with homework catch up. Ok, most of last week consisted of that. Oyoy. I did get it all done. Yay for me! But I still have stuff to do this week, plus more, if that's even possible. But, yet it is. As always, I planned to catch up on the weekend, but that didn't happen. ^^; Instead, I did fun stuff. Thursday was my night class. Lit. Woo. I do enjoy that class, but sometimes, especially around 10 pm that night, I get kinda tired of it. Friday was the performance of the Really Really Useless Improv Troupe--Knox's very own always and insanely funny improv troupe. After laughing our butts off, Matt and I scooted off to J-Club the meeting and movie. I got to see (finally) the 2nd Ranma movie Nihaou, My Concubine. Subtitled even. I was impressed. I've realized, as I've usually thought, that Ranma really is a good dub. I enjoyed the subbed version though too. Ukyo seems a bit too girly in Japanese though, and I prefer Happy's dub voice to his Japanese one. Just a side note on this movie though. There was WAY too much fan service. O_o; Everytime I turned my head there were near naked breasts jiggling and bouncing--not just on Ranma-chan but all female cast members sans Akane. It was really funny though. ^_^ The difference between the two Ranma really hits you when you're able to understand the feminitity and masculinity of their voices. hehe.

Saturday I fussed around with work for the day part, then had dinner in the Gizmo. Afterwards I went over to Courtney's to see the Nova Singers concert. I really don't remember what they sang, but it was something by Bach in B Minor. O_o; It was very good, but a tad long--3 hours. We baked a giant cookie after the concert and played Worms 2 where I found that Ming Vases are VERY powerful. *snicker* On Sunday Matt and I went to a Ghosts and the Paranormal lecture brought to us by a reallife parapsychologist. And you thought they only existed on Unsolved Mysteries and the X-files. :P That was good. Quite informative and a good way to spend a couple hours on a gray Sunday afternoon.

Today, Monday, everyone, their dog, AND their mother had something planned at the same time. I wanted to attend all of them. Unfortunately, I had to compromise. One event was the showing of Kurosawa's "Ran." I have to see this movie for art history, but I skipped it tonight in favor of watching it tomorrow night. Lucky meeee. Instead, after much debate, gnashing of teeth, bitter wailing, enormous guilt trips set upon my person, and prodding, I went to choir practice. Why all the hullabaloo? Because the third and final event going on tonight I wanted to attend was a concert put on by a band called the Rachel's. Yes, that's right. o.o Pretty keen, ne? According to the posters, the concert was a "multimedia production by the indie classical post rock band." The concert was in the same building as my practice, so I tried to catch a bit of it while we had our break. Again, my brilliant luck shone brightly, and of course, the concert was in intermission. >_< I went back to choir quite pissed off. I decided to try again after practice (which was only another 20 minutes away), and lo and behold, they were still playing! Yay! So I watched the rest of their concert--another hour. The music is not very easily described, and I guess the poster got it right. It was an ensamble of a piano, violin, cello, guitar (electric or regular), drum set, synthesizer, and some odd sounds. I really, really liked it! ^_^ I love odd music, especially rock-type music with violins or strings in it. For some reason I've become very attached to the sound of a violin in all genres. o.o I've even considered taking lessons to learn how to play. Dunno though. Might be too expensive--I know it'd be time consuming. Maybe someday. ^^; Anywayz, I got a novel to finish by tomorrow, so I'll be off now. O_O Eek. And kanji.

Yo and stuff. I haven't updated for awhile. Bah. Well, it was a typical couple of days after Wednesday. Not much to speak of. I went home this weekend to see the doctor. Among other things, I got blood drawn--rather painfully >_<--for a diabetes test. I'd been exhibiting a few symptoms and I (and then my mom) got a little concerned about it. Apparently there are many people in my family who have it. I hope I'm not one of them. The self-proclaimed Mistress of Sweets with diabetes...wouldn't that be ironic? Horribly so. I'll find out the results sometime this week. I never fail to bruise easily either. So delicate...O_o

So my weekend was filled not only with that but catching up on a little Chrono Cross despite my relatively big assingment due Monday. On top of that I had to entertain my grandparents for a few hours. And I did my huge pile of laundry. I DID work on the assignment and finished it Sunday night. I revealed more important plot in Chrono Cross. All I can say without spoiling is "AHHH!! O_O So cool!" I'm really surprised and impressed how CT is intertwined with this game, even though it's still a really good game stand alone. Next I'm off to get the actual Chrono Cross. I'm not sure what it does yet, but I need it for something. O_o; I still need to find the Frozen Flame too...apparently it's not where it's supposed to be.

Ah, in other news I have addicted to myself to a new manga series--Ayashi no Ceres by Yuu Watase who is of course also the creator of Fushigi Yuugi. I really really love it! It's very pretty--all the main characters (except for Oda ^^;) are very well drawn. Aki is so cute! ^^ But most of the characters bear some resemblence to FY characters, which is kind of a draw back. Aki looks kinda like Keiuske(sp?) and Aya kinda looks like Miaka only with intelligence and longer hair (and a tennyo inside her). Yuuhi-kun looks like a cross between the Boshi twins and Tamahome. Touya just looks like himself though--his cool self. I'll detail the basics of the series (no pun) tomorrow for I have to get to reading my novel. This week it's Women in Their Beds. A FINE place to be if you ask me....O_o; Ta for now.

Erg...someone please drill a hole in my head. Please! Relieve this pressure. o.x Saa. Anywayz, update update. Monday was more choir-type stuff. We're getting a lot better, except on certain parts. I hate this one song. We second altos just do not get our part, no matter how many times we go over it. Tuesday I went to an art show put on by the Philosophy of Art class. hehe. You can imagine then what was there. In reality it was just a bunch of baggies with an item in them and a label. The labels were symbollic though. For example, "anxiety" was symbolized by a pregnancy test. Jazz was a cucumber. Potential was a match. Ethics was a dollar bill. And so on and so forth.

I'm trying to write my lit essay again. It's coming along smoothly. Well, I can say that now--now that it sounds halfway decent. Why is it that whenever I write a paper, it just seems harder and harder to start and then write it? O_o; I got pictures of my kitties in the mail today. They're so cute! Frisky looks like this demon cat though. His eyes are bright green, and he has this evil expression on his face. I've got fencing tonight. I hope I'm not as banged up as I was last week. I still have horribly ugly bruises on my leg from that one match. O_o; I'm so delicate...*snicker* I read yet another list of how to annoy people, but this one was really funny. ^_^ My favorite was to run up to a person, preferably someone old, and flap your arms while yelling "MOOOOOO! I'm a fish!" And speaking of odd things, wouldn't it be just odd if the seishi folks finally summoned Suzaku, and it turns out that it was really just HawksEye the whole time. ^_^; Come on, you know it could be true! They're both spiky-haired birdmen with love of the color pink/red. Hehe...I guess then Byakko would be TigersEye and Seiryuu would be Fishy. All though why Fishy would want to enter the body of a young virgin female remains to be seen. O_o; I'll cover my eyes, thank you. TigersEye would be all over it though. Uh...ew. And Zirconia-obaasama would be...Genbu? Okay...well, she does look a little like an ugly turtle. Or Taiitsukun I guess. ^^;; ehe...*bursts into a crappy rendition of "Too Much Time on My Hands"* Bai now!

o.o Hisashiburi. I've been slightly busy over the past few days. As alwasy I'm lazy about the pita. Thursday I had my lit class. It was interesting as always. Friday I had art history. I finally decided my paper topic Japanese tea ceremony v. English afternoon tea. You'd be amazed that there are actually sites on the Net that have information on English tea. It's amazing. I spent far too much time researching. @_@ We watched Akira for our J-Club movie this week. Again, it was another one of those movies that made you cry out "WTF!?" Through the first half of the film I was picking out the multiple things the movie had in common with Neon Genesis Evangelion. Was it just me or did Akira look way too much like Shinji? O.o; I enjoyed it though, once I got over the violence and ugly character designs. I'm sorry, they were. I'm too used to shoujo stuff I guess, but still. Tetsuo was one nasty looking psychopath. It was a bit bloody for my tastes, but I didn't find that the violence was so unnecessary. It really added to set the post-Apocalyptic tone as well as illustrating Tetsuo's decent into self-glorification and pinings for omnipotence. I wanted to smack that boy. Probably because he was unnecessarily angry. I mean, really, judging from his memories of childhood with Kaneda, he didn't treated so badly. I'm sure that's one of the points of the movie, you know? Don't bully the weak because they could suddenly become stronger than you and kick your ass (and destroy the greater part of a whole city too.) On a side note, I was irked that I couldn't read what was written on the sidewalk. o.O; Of course I read "Akira," and I did remember the meanings for the two kanji by themselves, but not together.

Saturday was just another day. I went to dinner with Matt and a great number of his relatives. We watched Time Chasers (MST3K episode) which was hilarious. Crow goes back in time to stop Mike from taking the temp job which lands him on the Sattelite of Love, but it turns out that in the alternate future he dies. How? By getting hit on the head with too many room keys thrown at him by passionate female fans of his rock band. He's replaced on the SoL by his older brother Eddie, who is evil. So Crow goes back to tell himself not to tell Mike to not take the temp job. The movie was a riot too. It was one of their better tapes.

I think I might actually do some manga translation tonight. wowies. I haven't done that in quite awhile. I've been doing other stuff. But of course there's all this other stuff that's piling up on my desk. Like my research into possible Japanese summer programs. I REALLY have to get going on that. I researched some over this past summer and wrote to a few places. I got their info. Waseda U in Tokyo looks pretty good. Knox has a year-long program for that so quite a few people I know of have gone there. Heh. That's one thing I do miss about high school. TAG independent study. That's how I forced myself to research for college--I did that search one semester during junior year. I'm so lazy when it comes to stuff so far in the future. Basically because I think I have plenty of time to do it. Often it still comes down to the wire of me actually finishing whatever it was. Anywayz, I suppose I should do that instead. Yup. Ja.

Yes, Karen, "umai" means "tasty." o.o It's the same as oishii, but basically only men use it. Well, I'm bruised and broken today. Ok, so just bruised with a welt on my hip from the Evil Foil of DOOM. O_o; That thing was needlessly sharp, I must say. Well, I did my regular stuff this week. Amazingly I'm nearly finished with my lit paper for tomorrow, which is good because I have other stuff to do too. Like start researching again for my art history paper. Ugh. It's supposed to be a compare/contrast paper of one aspect of Japanese art and one of Western art. I chose mandala and rose windows for my topic and spent quite a bit of time at the library yesterday gathering material for it. Then today my professor sits me down and suggests that I choose a different topic, one that concerns more important topics like tea ceremony and stuff like that. He suggests this because he's keeping in mind my major in East Asian Studies. My topic choice seemed to him rather narrow and not too significant. So now I get to back to the library, return all those books, and start anew. I think I'm going to try comparing Japanese tea ceremony and the tea thing in England. I wonder if they even have books on that sort of thing. o.o Well, I found books about stained glass windows, so I suppose there are books about tea time in England. I hope. I haaaaate researching for papers. I dunno why. It just bugs me. But oh well! Shigata ga nai, ne?

I got grad school info from the U of I today. Special. The MA is "Asian Civ" but you concentrate in one aspect. I'd be of course doing Japanese. BUT, you can either go Teaching Japanese as a Foreign Language or Japanese Lit 'n Culture. o.o Yet another decision I get to make. Oy oy.

Ah, yes. I forgot to rant about the SuperS dub. It's...as good as it probably could have gotten. Fisheye (the gay Amazon Trio guy) has a feminine (and VERY annoying voice) and "different tastes" from TigersEye. *snicker!* Zirconia has been changed to a man. Now, I know it's hard to tell the old bat's gender, but come on! It's obviously a woman speaking in Japanese, plus they call her "obaasama" later in the series. The translation has been really damn good in most places. Other places stupid things are being said, but you gotta get used to that by now...I guess. O_o; They seem very good at messing up jokes in the original too. Diana the kitten was introduced yesterday--she's got a good and very cute voice, but it's hard to understand sometimes. The Trio voices are ok, but I know that I wouldn't find them incredibly hilarious as I do if I hadn't heard their Japanese voices. TigersEye's Japanese seiyuu is awesome. Excusah me, what time is it now? XD One thing that really bugs me is the change of Sailormoon and ChibiMoon's henshin phrase. It was "Moon Crisis, Make Up!" but for no good reason they changed it to "Moon Cosmic Dream Action." O_o; Can we say "YUUUUUCK!"? Which randomly reminds me, if you haven't done so, clicky into PSHA and read "Slayer Moon" it's Multiple Crossover Hilarious Action! *snicker* Great, now I'M doing it. ^^; Oy...no really, it's funny. ^^; Erm...bai now.

*insert amusing opening HERE* O_o;

Oy vey. I've been studying Japanese art history for faaaaar too long. I swear, if I see another statue of version of yet another Buddha, my mind is going to explode. Anywayz. That's what I've been doing today--homework catch up. I was a good girl and actually finished my NP translation. It's getting quite interesting. Well, so far. I'm only on page 10 or something. But, it's been revealed that the main character's boyfriend committed suicide 4 years ago and she keeps a box of his things in her desk. I have this feeling the book's going to get darker pretty quick.

Ah, my weekend, it twas, ne? It was Linn Mar homecoming week this week, and I didn't go home. My mom said that they had a female "Powder Puff" football game on Thursday--my brother, preppy jock that he is, was a cheerleader for that game. ^_^; eheh...I have no idea who won either game. See, I didn't go home cuz I had so much to do. Well, I suppose I could have done it at home, but the very thought of doing any sort of studying at my house just doesn't work for me anymore. Home is where I do nothing academically productive. How did I even survive high school anywayz? O_o; Oh well. I'm thoroughly addicted to Bebop music now--as if I wasn't before. The song "Rain" just kicks ass; so does "Chicken Bone." I love Gabriela Robin. She does all the cutsy songs on Yoko Kanno soundtracks--like ABC Mouse on Parade, Cat's Delicacy, Chicken Bone, etc. I heard this rumor that GR was actually Yoko Kanno, but I dunno.

Saturday was a bit o' fun. We ate at Cherry St. for dinner (our college's favorite bar/restaurant thing.) It was a bit more expensive than we thought, but it was really really good anyway. That's the first time we've eaten actual dinner there. We've been there for Jazz Night and bowls of Mud though. Mud is quite tasty. It's a chip dip that tastes like a mixture of a thick chili, sour cream, and maybe some cheese. yummy! Then we went grocery shopping, came back, and played some board games where I acted silly enough to be mistaken for drunk or on something (musta been the fumes from the bar...^^;.) Then we went and saw "Sequence" with Dennis Quaid and some other people. It's about this cop in 1999 who somehow ends up being able to talk to his dad in 1969. Fortunatly, he talks to his dad the day before he was supposed to die in a fire--of course the son tells him and the dad is saved. Then time events get messed up and the guy's mom ends up being killed by a serial killer. The rest of the movie is about how the dad and the son work together across the time stream to catch the murderer and save the guy's mom and 7 other women from being murdered. The whole film was a good mix of fuzzy father/son moments, loving family moments, sad moments, mystery, and action. The element of crossing time also dispelled, or at least masked, some of the more cliched action-type elements too. For example, at the end instead of one life and death struggled between the good guy and the bad guy over the gun, there were two and an unusual ending to that too. It was really good, in my opinion, and it's worth going to see.

Hmmm...there are strange, tantilizing smells coming from my suite. Very tasty smells. Ah, well. It's time for me to get back to woik. Ta ta.

Saturday, September 30, 2000 01:34 a.m.
Ye gods I'm tired. I'm amazed I haven't crawled into bed yet, but I suppose I feel a litte funny going to bed before two on the weekend...I've been in college for too long. heh. Anywayz. Update on my life-thingy. Thursday I spent rushing to finish my work by class time. I did, thank God. I had my lit class where we discussed the book and other such strange issues that we could think up. I returned home already yearning for bed, but I forced myself awake for another hour so I could study some kanji before my quiz. One side note: I've been watching the new episodes of SM on Cartoon Network (SuperS aka the 4th season). My only comment for now is "Moon Cosmic Dream Action!? @_@ WTF!?" I'll prolly blab in more detail later when I have less to say. Had class today (well, Friday, I guess) and my make up Japanese class. I was so lucky to have sensei move our meeting time this week. O_o Otherwise I would have been screwed. I would have had nothing but my test done. oy.

Friday night was amusing as usual. We ate in the Gizmo--bagel sandwhich...mmm... I've noticed a grand lack of soft serve ice cream on our campus. Seriously. You gotta go to DQ to find it. We have frozen yogurt and hard ice cream in the caf and frozen treats in the Gizmo. No softserve ice cream. How sad...*sniffle* O.o; Anywayz, I went to a Chinese club meeting and had some nummy food (an eggroll, rice, and some vegitarian dish, but REALLY spicy *breathes fire*). We talked about upcoming events--East Asian Week, and that's about it. Then I went and played Worms 2 with Matt before watching the rest of Seven Samurai at J-Club Movie Night. Well, first we gently prodded these people out of the lounge so we could watch it... Then we wandered back to the Gizmo, to Matt's room for more Worm action, and then to my dorm where we watched an old episode of SNL. And that's my fancy day in a nutshell. Tasty. Anywayz, I'm quite the tired little student so I'm going to nap for about 8 or 9 hours before hitting the books again (with a giant mallet preferably). Jaa.

Wednesday, September 27, 2000 10:39 p.m.
I really haven't updated since Sunday? o.o oy...bad me. Monday is really a blur now. I have no idea if I did anything special beyond the normal class going and stuff. I had choir, which is fun. We're practicing for the Christmas concert, so, you know, Christmas songs. Quite annoying to me, if I think about it. I'm one of those people who growl at the shops when they put Christmas stuff up before Halloween and here I am singing Christmas songs in September. Although, I must admit I'm happy to not know Latin right about now, that way it doesn't really feel like Christmas songs. ^_^

Tuesday is another blur. I know I bombed my kanji quiz and now sensei is making me retake it. Zannen... I'm on to learning new kanji now. What a blessed gift from the heavens. Which also reminds me, I'm in DIRE need of conversation practice...~_~ I do okay on the writing and things because I have time to think before I formulate. Also, I do language stuff a lot easier if it's visual. I've noticed that I've become very inept at even speaking English lately. O.o Not like I'm forgetting vocabulary and things like that, but my speech is really colloquial and it takes me way too long to describe what the heck it is I'm talking about. Weird...but still, more convo practice.

Today was Wednesday and with it, fencing. I'm really fine this week--not sore at all, except for my neck which isn't sore due to fencing anywayz. My pillow's fault. I hate my pillow now. It's all flat and what IS actually fluffy is lumpy and uneven. I need to wash it, but our washing machines are kinda too small for that sort of thing. I went to the graduate school fair here in our lovely Seymour Union today. Pretty much a waste of time, but at least I know that going to those fairs IS a waste of time. At least the ones at Knox. 95% of the booths were dedicated to specific fields like dentistry, medicine, law, and that sorta stuff. You wouldn't believe the looks I got when I told them "yeah, I'm looking at programs in East Asian studies, Japanese, that sort of thing." O_o; They all got this blank, lost sheep look on their faces. That followed with a flash of "what the HELL is she talking about? East Asian Studies?" Then they shook their heads while apologizing that their school really didn't offer graduate work in that sort of thing. They tried to make it up to me by saying they had undergraduate stuff, which I thought was amusing since I was obviously already doing undergraduate work. ^_^ Otherwise, why would I be there? In short, I only really talked to the U of Michigan people and the U of Iowa people. And that was because I already knew those schools offered Asian studies stuff. The Michigan people (who were there for dentistry or something) let me fill out a card which they would take down to the Asian studies offices when they got back. Same with Iowa. heh. The U of I lady didn't even think they offered Asian studies graduate stuff. ^^;;; I KNOW they do. So I really don't know what I'm going to be doing on this. I looked up all the schools in the nation that have Asian studies stuff. At petersons.com. There are a lot of universities that do scattered from the West to East Coast, so I suppose I have my pick of location. I dunno...I'd like to go to Iowa, but then I think, hey, couldn't I go to a different state and see that? Or what if I could actually make it into an Ivy League-type school? Yale, Harvard, Cornell, and Stanford all showed up on the list too...saa...@_@ Well. My judgement right now is I have too much to think about about my undergraduate work right now to fuss about with anything beyond what's due tomorrow or next week or even the week after. I've got the time. I'ms till a junior. Anywayz. Back to that work I mentioned...^^;

Sunday, September 24, 2000 10:30 p.m.
I'm so bad. I hardly did any homework on Friday and Saturday. Well, ok, so I did a little, but it was only translation of NP. It just takes so long looking up all that blasted kanji I don't know. Today I was better and spent the entire day working. Oy, what a life. Well, Saturday wasn't all just blowing off homework. I did fun stuff. I went out with Matt 'n Courtney and her friend Justin for dinner at Oogies. Weird name, yes, but they have pretty good food. I had tortilini. It wasn't as good as Zio Johno's though, but what is, ne? Then we shopped for food. I bought cereal and some York peppermint patties that were on sale. Then we came back to campus and played Sequence for awhile while the Olympics played in the background. The US broke some swimming records then. Ooh. The night kinda wandered toward an end.

Today, Sunday, was just a homework explosion. Nah, I just read my novel basically, and sorta kinda studied for my art history quiz. Read more, and now the pita. I'm in a mood to see Fushigi Yuugi now. Got the last two tapes left, and I'm really itching to find out what happens. I refuse to read the synopsis though. I did that with Sailormoon, and I really don't think I should do that again. I want to be surprised. But...I still have guesses as to what happens. ;_; *snifflies* I've already suffered through Nuriko's death--which was horribly sad and tragic. I would have cried had not Matt been sitting right there. Then I suffered through lil Chiriko's death. He wasn't really a favorite character of mine, but's a cute kid and he dies so painfully and nobly that it was still incredibly sad. I dunno if I can watch the rest of them die...especially Chichiri. Tasuki and Hotohori too, but especially Chichiri. All for Miaka-baka's sake too. ;_; Hmmph. What a waste of good bishounen. I'd love to see any new anime in general now too, but the evil Sam Goody/Suncoast in Galesburg sells only dubs. *SHUDDER* I could order them, but what would be the point? O.o; Might as well get them from buy.com and have them be cheap and shipped to my door. Anywayz, back to my tasks. Ja.

Friday, September 22, 2000 03:20 p.m.
I'm once again joining the ranks of those who fail to update thier pita like good boys and girls. ^^; But I had plenty of other stuff to do. Fencing kicked butt on Wednesday. I had fun confusing and beating the new people with the very little I remembered about stragety. Then Matt beat me. Grr. I was really, really sore afterward, and still am to this day. After fencing and all day Thursday before 7 pm consisted of me frantically trying to a) study for my kanji quiz and b) finish my lit essay. I did. *sweatdrop* But lo and behold my sensei has declared that Tuesday's kanji quiz will the not on the new 20 that I was expecting but ANOTHER hugearse kanji quiz of all 390 kanji that I supposedly know. @_@ Got another book to read too. This week it's A Yellow Raft in Blue Water by Michael Dorris. I read this one over the summer, so I know basically how it is. It's pretty good too.

Thursday after 7 pm was my lit class followed by an hour at the weekly jazz band performance at Cherry St. (our college's favorite local bar & restaurant. Yeah, a bar. :P) I finally got home about 12:30 and crashed into bed after getting out of my horribly smoke-smelling clothing. That's the one bad thing about jazz night: you find out that in reality half the student population smokes--and that they all go to jazz night. This morning I braved the second great flood and made it to class. The rain was so heavy this morning. I got thouroughly drenched at every place not lucky enough to hide under my umbrella. I found out today that there was a lightning strike that hit a tree half a block from my room (across the street from the far end of the building) last week. O_o; Talk about cutting it close. Then the day kinda went on in hope and happiness that it's Friday night tonight. Going for pizza and some board games before we (or maybe just me...) head out for the Japanese Club Movie. This week it's the Kurosawa film Seven Samurai. Can't wait!

Tuesday, September 19, 2000 11:54 p.m.
So tired, but must write pita...o.o Anywayz, I did a ton of homework today, but I put a bunch off too. Bah, there's just so much of it. Evil! So, what did I do today? Not much, per the usual. I got up late (9:30) and went for a walk (exercise) with Courtney and did lunch. It was chicken enchilada day in the Oak Room. Yumma.

Then I attempted to cram a few more kanji in my head before going to class. I had Japanese class. Sugoi deshou? I've been translating NP since Saturday. It's *really* fun to translate...at least if you know the words. Which I often don't. There aren't any kanji readings either so I have to look up almost every one which makes translating take forEVER. After class I did a bit more homework and then did dinner in the caf. Grilled cheese sandwhich and a salad. Yumma. O_o; And in case you've every wondered, yes, I'm on board because I have to be. If we weren't required to be on-campus housed and on-board, I'd certainly not be. We think it's Knox's way of assuring more income from their students. They sure do charge a pretty penny for those chicken patties. I crave real food so much...

Guess what I did for the rest of the night? Yes, that's right! So I'm not going to bother saying as such. :P Tomorrow I start fencing again, show off how much I forgot over the summer which is basically...uhm...everything. ^^ Ok, I still know how to stand, hold the sword and poke people with it, plus a little stragedy. I exagerate, but still I don't remember a lot. Well, I suppose that's it to my jam-packed day of funness. Got class early tomorrow so I'm going to bed now. Oyasumi.

Monday, Monday. It just turned out that way. Not much was up with my day. Is there ever? O.o Well, maybe sometimes, but not today. I went to class per the usual. I had my first art history quiz, which I think I did okay on. We had to compare and contrast two pieces of art. I knew the first, but turns out I made a pretty good guess on what the second one was. ^^ Lucky me. I read my book for this week Tracks by Louise Eldrich. It's about 10 or so years of history on a Chippewa reservation and the goings on of this ragtag "clan" of people. "Clan" meaning that the family is made up of several members of 3 different families living under one or two rooves. It's pretty interesting. Now I just have to think of something to write about it for Thursday. *scratches head*

The other great event today was the bi-weekly kanji cramming. Thank God this kanji cramming will only be for another week. Then I can go back to 25 per week instead of 150 in review. I also had choir tonight. It was pretty good. We're singing Christmas tunes, but I'm glad they're in Latin so I can't tell the difference. I'm singing Christmas songs in September--someone take the mallet to my noggin. ^^; In other news I'm obsessed with the song "Rain" from Cowboy Bebop--that's the song that plays right as Spike walks into the cathedral in that famous, always loved scene in tape 5 (I think it's tape 5...). Speaking of Bebop. I really want to see the rest of that now, even if it means buying the thing myself. I figured that through buy.com the cheapest way would actually be on DVD at about a $100 (plus shipping of course). The VHS box sets are total $170. Sad to say, I don't own a DVD player. O_o; So I was thinking of getting one...that is, until I saw how much they were even on buy.com. Then again, I would be saving $70 if I buy Bebop on DVD instead of VHS. Decisions, decisions. Oh well, I won't be spending all that cash on DVD players and such anytime soon. Must be good...save for Japan...o.o;

Twas a good Saturday. We all went out to Old Peking which has this wonderful buffet. I'm so addicted to Chinese biscuits. They're so good! We went shopping afterwards like good little Americans. I spent money, but it was on useful things like fruit snacks and $3.99 CDs at Target. I randomly found my mother's Christmas present. O_o; Yeah, I know, but by the time Decemeber rolls around I would have totally forgotten it was there. So I bought some food. I got a classical CD of the Moonlight Sonata and some other songs--now you know why they were only $4. ^^; I also bought the Supergirl movie, which I loved when I last saw it like oh, 8 years ago. I have it on tape at home, but that's the Taped Off TV When They Last Showed it in 1987 Version. We also bought some board game that I don't remember the title to. It wasn't the one I wanted. I wanted Scattergories.

Matt and I spent the rest of the night playing Worms 2 and playing with the Sound FX CD he bought. I sucessfully prevented him from installing Risk on my computer too. Unfortunately my roomie has put her TV down in the suite so when we want to watch movies we have to sneak in between other people using it and use that one or use the one in his room. Which reminds me I forgot to mention what else I did Friday night. O.o; Well, we ate in the Gizmo and played Matt's game of Chrono Cross (which is quite far behind mine, so I was pretty bored through that.) Then we saw Perfect Blue, returned to his room and watched Mystery Men--just as keen the second time as it was the first.

Today is laundry and homework day. Whoopie. I need to start on that next novel. I spent far too much energy on translation yesterday. But it's almost finished now. bwa ha. Anywayz...

I archived! I'm so proud. It's been a busy few days. Seems like from Friday until Tuesday now is going to be the busiest time of the week for me. Great... Basically it's just because my homework load renews itself on Friday. I have a new novel to read, an art history quiz to study for, and Japanese stuffs. Anywayz, now I'm translating (that should be "attempting" to translated -.-;) a Banana Yoshimoto novel called NP. I've done one page so far and it took me forever. The hardest part is of course looking up all those kanji that I don't know. There's quite a lot of it, actually. So far it's about this bad author named Sarou. o_o; Oh, and he committed suicide.

Yesterday I got to see Perfect Blue at the new weekly Japanese Club movie showing. If you haven't seen this movie yet, I'd recommend that you do. It's about this pop idol named Mimarin who decides to leave her group CHAM! and become an actress. Then she finds out someone's stalking her. She does all these unwholesome things as an actress--posing nude in various er...positions at a photo shoot and act as a rape victim (her character is a stripper, btw) in the drama she's acting in. Then people around her start getting murdered. It's one of those anime that makes you go "What the HELL just happened?! Was that real or was she dreaming again?! Or was that just her acting?! AUUUUUUGH!" Basically it's like Ghost in the Shell and Serial Experiements Lain where it makes you think about the self. Then you find out who the murderer is.

Tonight is Chinese food, shopping, and other to be determined attractions that will manifest eventually. ^^ Certainly can't be as weird as last night.
