I second the 'non-Suck' rating to the Final Fantasy movie.
Although,to my surprise (and proving that the /oddest/ things facinate me...) I loved the zero-gravity space scenes best; For no real reason at all, except that the lighting and movement were especially fine. The 'mechanical devices' designer also deserves an Emmy or something, the machines, cities, and gizmos looked hell'a'good. Gah, if only all military guys had such trendy guns. Didn't much care for the 'armor' on the team... but go fig, for all the good it did them, they might as well have done without. Thumbs up for the aliens, hell'a'cool. Thumbs down for the General's coat... I know... black leather is cool... but he looked odd to begin with, and it just made him look odder. Thumbs up for Jane! Sure she may be a bit stereo-typed, but she capped bogey's with enough precision to make 10yr olds playing duckhunt /everywhere/ drool in envy. Neil is also the man, in his own special, 'I /am/ Evil Kanevil' way. Bravo Neil.
So I guess I liked it, if only because it randomly inspired me as to what my next 'pointless cassiel short-fic' will feature... yeay odd-ball inspiration.

Those holiday days are done.
so, the vacation is done, and work's begun. THis is good since I now qill have income for the first time since... may... but bad because now I have 1/3 the time I used to to write those short stories that people keep 'asking' for ^_^ with baseball bats. The CCS marathoning is also not helping, but boy is it fun. Tonight? I go to see the FF movie. I hope it's good ^_^. Ne, Twig-chan? dou?
Fish-chan has decided she's the Val+Az #1 fan (aside from me) and I am simply amazed at her cute art. So look for more guest art in the next update. Yeay!

What the F--?
to add to today's computer woes... my pitas site. and /only/ my pitas site (twig I can see yours just fine) is apparently unviewable right now. What did I do to deserve this?! Dah! God I hope pay pal works... Off to try and download twig's fic and then go drown my sorrows in more CCS.
-- returns to her previously scheduled 'banging head on table' routine
Sunday, July 8, 2001 03:23 p.m.
This is the sound of me banging my head on the table...
Hi everybody... guess what... my cable modem's working again... but... my ethernet card seems to have died. (Son of a B---!!!) And being that it's sunday... the earliest I can address this conundrum is... right now. ^_^ So I'm back in the 'free computer room' that my appartment offers at semi-reasonable hours, and in a bit I'll take the sick PCMCIA card over to my friend's house to see if it /is/ the card that's bad. (If not, it's the computer. And that would be Very Very bad). In other, more surreal news, in trying to diagnose the /card/ I figured out why my floppy drive wasn't working (yeay) so this means that Twig! You know that story I was working on? ^_^ I copied it onto a disket and then onto my account. It's done. My first pure 'Knights & Pawns' fic, I'm deleriously happy. Tell me what you think, or at least if your eyes are bleeding. I'll /hopefully/ be online tonight (grumble) but if not, maybe tomorrow after 5? (wai....)
hey Ann! Brad and I watched up through episode 20 of CCS yesterday, including the episode where Kero-chan does the "cake cake wai wai wai cake cake wai wai wai". It was adorable. I'm also starting to say 'hooooeee?' a lot. This is probably not a good thing.
Fish-chan! I'll email you this anyway, but due to the above reasons, I couldn't do the paypal foo. I'm doing it as we speak. 1000 apologies, my computer hates me apparently.
"He'll be pissed. 'Giant Lizard Destroys Nation's Capital' pissed..." -- Valor Jones.
Hey, if it works for Az, It can work for me too... god I hate my laptop ^_^ (kick) piece o' S--t!!

The king is dead, long live the king.
OF all the nights for the cable to go out for 2 hours, tonight wasn't the one I would've picked. Still no /real/ harm done... the chapter is finished, the website is launched and I even got Flidget to do the beta for me (thank god for her keen eyes). Once the omnipotent Twig catches the /other/ thirty-five errors that I've missed... it'll be tollerable for archival and being forgotten about. ^_^;;
I'm /so/ not good at these things.
so click on the link above and go to the new home! OR go to the old one and get the re-direct. I'll be sending emails out to the 'mission-critical' people asap to tell them about the move, but for now let's see where word-of-mouth takes us, ne?
Lemon? what lemon? I make no apologies, yes I know how bad it is, yes it needs to be there, no I have no clue what I'm doing.... Isn't this fun?! ehhhh -_-;;
Thursday, July 5, 2001 12:46 p.m.
THIS IS AMAZING!!
All of you, go to Neil Gaiman's blogg ( see the link on the right) And read his July 2nd post. Yes, the one where he thanks everybody for coming to his US tour. In the middle he says, and I quote. "So I thought I ought to say thank you. After all, I didn't go out and buy the books. I didn't stump up $26 for a hardcover, or drive hundreds (or in a couple of Texan cases, thousands) of miles to go to a signing." Now, I dunno how many crazy Texans went to Neil's book signings, but I know to HELL that I was one of them! Ahaahhhhaa He Remembered Me!!!!! This makes my week. This also proves that I really must start reading my blogger links more often (happy sigh) and on that note... I'm off to watch CCS DVDs till my head falls off. Or untill 4 o'clock, whichever comes first.
one /very/ pleased fangirl. --Lunar

Planning?! BAH!!
Twig-chan! Book away! Just remember to schedule your arrival post 6pm, ne? That way I (in worse case scenario) will only have to skip out of work 'a little' early, although I'm sure it's not a problem. As for when you want to leave on Sunday, well, dealer's choice. If the parental units are severely worried, you can reassure them that I'm a (cough cough) upright and upstanding young career woman with a good job >_< and they're welcome to call me if they want to run a personalized background check? Jesus, you're coming for a visit, not to get married. /People/... Bah. This is why I write fanfiction... ^_^But Wow, I'm so happy I could explode. Well, no. That would be messy.
In other news, ch3 is /almost/ done. I hope to have the 'draft' up on the website tonight, which means my new website also gets its unveiling tonight (HURRAY). The only thing that could hamper this?! Well... I may also be receiving a scanner today. And if I get sucked into playing with /that/ to get it to work... maybe things will get pushed to Friday afterall. I rather like the first 3/4 of ch3, but I'm afraid that it needs more 'transition' time between major scenes... when you read, keep that in mind, ne? If you see someplace that is a bit too jarring, tell me and I'll tack on a bit more of a segue. If no one tells me, I'll just be lazy and leave them out.
More Valor fun, for everyone!

It feels like home already
So I found the asian grocerystore (yeay) so when you come down, Twig+Ann (?), there will be Pocky for all of us. Apparently the Japanese comunity here is a little small as far as the Asian sub-groups go, but the nice woman in the store offered to put me on their mailing list for when new shipments of milk-tea come in, and I can even post a note on the b-board asking for a japanese conversation practice partner. I bought some inari skins and some plum wine, and am generally happy. I also found a used copy of VS to replace the one I was forced to leave behind, you can all guess what I'll be doing tonight. Although I promise, I'll finish ch3 tomorrow, Thursday at the latest.
thanks to everyone who takes the trouble to review on FF.net, or even write me, I'm amazed that I inspire such attachment to characters with this shameless hobby... And Fish-chan, my heart is yours, now and forever.
ne, Twig-san, why can't I view your webpage?

My days of impermanence are over
Went to pick up my brand spanking new liscence plates today... it's official, I'm a resident of texas... /sigh/... But now I have officially registered car, and a photo-ID, so that's good... before I was wondering what the hell they'd do if I got pulled over... everything I owned was 'temporary'... sigh. So yes, problem resolved.
In other news, mail.com is once more acting flakey... messages are arriving about 24-36 hours after their posting time... sigh, so guess what Twig... you know that email you sent? It arrived this morning... /sigh/. I've also picked out my new domain, thank you Ann for your generous gift certifigate, I've decided that while envy.nu would be fine in all likelyhood I've gotten burned by the 'you get what you pay for' idea before... so now that I can afford to, might as well go with the stability of a nice generous private account. Look for moving announcements by-and-by...
Anyone else watching Gormenghast on PBS? I love that damn show. It may be alittle slow plot wise... but the actors and costumes are delightful. Although I have to admit, I can't tell which Steerpike is the most 'Sydney' like... when he's young and vunerable in episode 1 or old and malevolent in episode 3+4.... decisions decions... I tell ya, he should've won, he'd have made a /cool/ Earl of Gormenghast. The Queen was annoying.
I may have scant $$, but this convention in dallas sounds cool, ikimashou, ne? Ann-san? Twig-san?
Wednesday, June 27, 2001 09:47 p.m.
This emergency announcement is brought to you via Dina, Thankyou Dina.
A NEW COI Teaser!!! No, I'm not shitting you, Madamhydra is back online... although when the chapter will be done, is yet to be determined. *sigh* but it's here... and if /she/ is going to finish it... then I won't have to embarrass myself with trying to do a 'meta' ending...
Hurrah!! So yes, it's long, but no, nothing new happens, it's a very nice cloud-centric flashback but still! I wanted more 'current' action.
Wednesday, June 27, 2001 12:38 p.m.
I think I'm getting the hang of this
Today I drove around town, and for the first time... I didn't get lost... this makes me feel special for some reason. I'm sure by next year I'll look back on this and laugh myself sick, but for now, I'm still 'new' in town, therefore feel justified that I can go to the post office or the craft store across town and not need the map... giggle.
So let's see, Twig are you talking about the new tiny book of 'quotes' that was recently released for the Sandman collection? If so, I have it, bought it along with 'American Gods' when I was in Kentucky... if not... I'd better go to amazon.com amd look around ne...? Glad to hear that you're still amused by me writing gibberish for your characters, I'm no Ann, but we do our best. and Ann? congrats on the job thing, good karma was coming your way.
In other news, my new fan 'Fish'-chan has informed me of a smashing VS fanart site, it's in japanese, but still, go take a peek, their 'Sydney's' are devine, and there's the occassional Ashley and Hardin as well... PopGinny's Vagrant Site.
On TV today I saw them advertising a cd collection called 'kids pop' a collection of rock songs specially screened so that parents and kids can listen together... it had such well known songs as 'La De Da' and other 'best of 80's ' style upbeat music... what was disturbing was that the commerial's soundtrack had all these half-decent songs with little (and I mean pre pubescent) kids singing along in a very 'old McDonald' style... Very freaky... I just had to share.
Things that make you go... Hmmm...

This is not my beautiful internet... she is not my beautiful wife!
Today is not my day. First my cable-modem is on the fritz... then the computer at the 'buisness center' eats my original blogg for today. Just shoot me.
Anyway,Just a quick note to say that I'm back and re-inspired by my encounter with Neil... He is too cool. Plan to get CH3 done ASAP, then maye a little ff9... or maybe a seperate VS story... the more Twig and I ponder the details, the cooler it gets... I adore playing with Twig-a-verse, ^_^. I'm also duly amazed at the number of people reviewing my humble fics lately, you're all the best... truly. My ego will be bloated to the size of... well the size of a turnip! That's really big!... heh heh heh.
Tadaima!

Hello Kentucky!
So I forgot to post a message yesterday before I left. But thanks to this new digital age, I can send one from the mall as part of my free trial for...ummm... Xingular? I don't know, but next time you see one of their little mall kiosks give them a smile for me because they gave me access for no reason at all. Pretty groovy. I've composed a small travel-log of my journey, and after I get back home I'll finish it and post it here for your tsting pleasure. Anyway, for those who care, ch2 is up on fanfiction.net sorry about the copious typos, I re-read it at 1am Wednesday and winced at the sheer amount of stupid stuff I did... It'll get fixed when get back, I promise.
Friend, revoluntionary, fan-girl.

It's one of those days where, hungry, I stare into the fridge, hoping it will satisfy my cravings. The eMpty shelf has yet to produce a triple chocolate cake. I will eventually content myself with a bowl of cereal. Or maybe a Gramcracker... I may just be daring.
Lunar's writing system: (1) Wake up (I'm not kidding.) (2)Check Email (Don't ask) (3) Check /other/ email (4)Check for fanfiction updates (5) /Read/ said new fanfiction (6) go through the Blogg list (7) Update /my/ blogg... (8) Run out of excuses and start writing.
It's a wonder I get /anything/ done.
Following 2 leads for the new server, thanks for the help everyone. Twig, I just read the new K&P, a day late, I know, bad me. All I have to say for now is /Damn/ Woman... Even when I know curves are coming they never cease to impress and astound me. Brandon may be the world's doormat as far as Karma goes... but he continues to inspire me.
Ashley:... gee. Thanks /a lot/ kid.
Lunar: hush you. I'm Blogging.
So yes, K&P, big thumbs up. love love love. In other news... hm... my cat has a cold. I have to feed her antibiotics by hiding the pills in little blobbies of cheese. The system works quite well. I also have to get her some dental work apparently (shakes head in wonder)... Maybe I should invest in Kitty Health Insurance... Or Kitty Long-term Care Insurance... not that I'm gonna put her in a 'home' old cats are a little better than old ladies. ^_^
Don't ask. It's 7am. What do you expect.
Sydney: Now, WRITE SOMETHING!
Lunar: yeah yeah...
Saturday, June 16, 2001 09:05 p.m.
Tomb Raider... not so bad! Thoughts, Atlantis, Angels, Twig-a-verse, and the All-Mighty-Neil-Gaiman.
So... saw Tomb Raider today... Ok, sure, it's shallow, and if you're a guy, staring at the bouncing brests is unavoidable... but I admit, for what it was... I liked it. It had lots of shiny guns. And as a completely unexpected perk... for those Red Dwarf fans out there... remember "Arnold J. Rimmer" ? Lister's hologramatic crewmate and useless waste of life? Well guess what, that actor plays Lara Croft's butler, and is generally silly and delightful, even when defending his mistress' home with a double-barrled shotgun.
So I got home... and procceded to watch a TLC special on the 'Search for Atlantis' (Thank you Disney for stirring up this kettle once more). The show talked about some of the 'recent' discoveries, including last year's discovery of ancient ruins on and in the waters around Thera (an island near Greece all but destroyed by volcanoes about 1000 years before Socratese wrote the first Atlantis crap down and started this whole issue.) Anyway, the show was interesting, especially when they pointed out that they've discovered ancient roads that lead /into the sea/. Something that would be hell-a-cool to research. Except the Greek government has declared the waters around Thera to be a no-man's land. A "Tresspass and you will be shot" sort of thing. Amusing. Makes my conspiracy-loving brain bubble with delight.
This naturally lead me to brainstorm the kernel of a new VS story, and as I sat there day dreaming how the plot would go... I had a remarkable idea. Hey Twig... how would you like a nice juicy, sympathetic Cassiel story? Somehow my Atlantis-centric story sorta' spilled over in a completely unexpected way. If you're around later this week I'll pitch you the idea. It's a bit non-standard, but then so am I. Besides I think I can work it so that it can't possibly conflict with any of the pre-existing Cassiel plot. And the guy could really use some 'happy' air time... a vacation as it were, or people are going to think he's 'bad to the bone' instead of just being bitter ^_^. Ja... I'll find you later, or email you.
In other news. I've decided to Drive to Lexington, KY to see Neil Gaiman on the 23rd. Originally I was going to fly to CA, but I have no friends in Pasadena or San Diego, and Kentucky is a lot closer. So yes, I'm going 18 hours on the road to feed my obsession for one middle-aged brittish man, and get his signature on my hard-bound 'Season of Mists,' and 'Ramadan' an issue I bought especially for this. Whee, I'm not a stalker! I'm not! I love everything this man has done... I need to buy some Nodoze... /alot/ of it.
Anyone wanna roadtrip to Kentucky?
Friday, June 15, 2001 07:12 a.m.
In Other news.... Kurai has a blogger! Hahaha, Twig is contageous isn't she.... ooooh an excuse to see more gorgeous art... nope, no complaints from lunar-land... And Neil Gaiman. I adore that man. Yes, Yes I do. I was waffling at first about whether or not to try and drive to california to see him. But once more I've read his blogg and feel re-energized. I must go. I simply must. I don't care if my milage on the new car goes from 20 -> 2000. within 1 month of owning the damn thing. Go read his blog, and giggle about the libretto... I want one! I have a friend who is a massive libretto fiend, but always dithered about getting it because of the keyboard size. The L1 sounds pretty sweet though. GO Neil! Yeay!

Nightmares and Scoundrels and Crickets
So wow, so yes, it's 7am, and not only am I awake. I'm already ranting. Why has this morning been so freaking bizarre? I have no idea. But let me begin at the begining. So I woke up at 5am today from the first nightmare I've had since I was 12 years old. This freaked me out enough that I decided not to go back to bed, instead I sat in my kitchen, drank cocoa and pet my cat... Then I thought, what the hell, read email why don't I... fan mail will cheer me up.
So I checked it. Thank you Luny for your note and for the picture you sent, even if mail.com DID eat half of it, the part I /could/ see looked divine, I'm eagerly awating you resending it ^_^. The rest of the mail... was less amusing. So I got a few notices and reminders... One of them being from homestead.com which a few of you may recognize as being the warm and welcoming host to my domain - 'rood awakenings' ... they basically said I had 90 days to pay them 120$ for the year's service before they'd regretfully have to boot me off. Those bastards. Now, I realize that the internet isn't the well-spring of illogical and loose capital that it used to be... but paying 120$ a year for a site that I code the html for by hand, strikes me as a little stupid.
So this is Lunar, on her knees, asking all of you... "Do you know a good place for 'Rood Awakenings' to relocate to?" I don't mind paying if I must, I do need 20M to comfortably grow at my current rate, but I dunno if 10$ a month is the way to go, especially as most of that 10$ is paying for features I never use anyway. What do you think, am I being unreasonable?
The crickets outside my window don't know... they also don't care... they're crickets and are never troubled by graphics that don't load, surprising billing announcements, or nightmares... they just sit there and chirp, and eat grass, and chirp some more. They live in fear only of birds.... and lawnmowers.
chirp.... chirp.... chirp...
Monday, June 11, 2001 10:52 p.m.
on this day... at this time... nothing happened.
no, I mean it. it's been dull here in Lunar land. Writing some, cleaning some, trying to get butt in gear for a web update. Be patient, I'm still alive. All will soon be back on track!
In other news I have picked out my car, and if the banks cooperate, I'll pick it up this week, cheer for me... cheer for the anime/asian food stores of Austin... finally I can go shopping for real!
today's rant brought to you by capitalism.
Tuesday, June 5, 2001 07:39 p.m.
You know that saying about watched pots... and boiling? It still applies.
so me and the cable-guy, then just me, spent most of the morning glaring at a singularly uncooperative cable-modem and dreaming of the heaven denied me. I was Sad. I then strolled over to the buisness-center in this apartment complex (with it's complimentary computers) and under the disguise of researching a new car I checked email and wrote the earlier rant. Then I went to the nearby postoffice... and came home and read my new Sandman Companion (Thankyou Twig, I love it)... Then my friend came over to commiserate my lack of online-ness with me...
and lo... it was working.
So I'm here... as I was originally scheduled to be. Surprise surprise.
The boys and I are naturally happy... next on the agenda...? A scanner. Oh yes. It will be mine.
Tuesday, June 5, 2001 04:04 p.m.
Cable... ate my dog.
well it might as well have. So it's tuesday... and I'm once more, borrowing someone /else/'s computer. Not fair.
The day started well enough, I woke up early and happily bided my time untill the install person came over in challenging my "easy to assemble dresser" in single combat. I won. Then there was a knock at the door (yeay!). If nothing else... the cable guy /was/ cute... he had the tv signal up and running in 30 seconds... then came the Road runner, He looked over my borrowed machine and nodded approvingly, unpacked some gizmos, hooked them up, nodded encouragingly... and sat down to watch it "initialize" itself. For anyone who has been through this already you know that it basically means sitting there watching a bunch of little LEDs blink frantically for 5 minutes before settling into a steady glow that means "We have Candy" and Lunar giggles like a school girl and starts answering the backlogged email. Well guess what, those LEDs didn't stop blinking, point of fact if I go back to my apartment now and take a look... I bet you that they'll /still/ be blinking. Go fig. So cute-boy (TM) shrugged and went "maybe it's the modem." and went to get a new one. This one too did the blinky thing... he shrugged again. He then fiddled with the splitters... still blinky blinky... he fiddled with some other splitters... blink blink. My hell will be full of blinking LEDs and monitors with the message "cannot find internet" scrolling across them. Sigh. I'm destined to be shafted by every information provider in the area... first the telephone company.. then this... if it wasn't for my little Nokia I would be crying right now.^_^; Go buy Nokia! hahaha. so... a new cable-guy is coming by tomorrow afternoon to "solve" my problem... I am not too optimistic, but hell, maybe he'll be cute too.
Monday, June 4, 2001 10:39 p.m.
Lasagna.
Cooked tonight for the small crew of fellow alumni in my area, I've been bumming rides etc. like mad for the past few days so I figured I'd pay them back with my killer homemade lasagna... of course my efforts were complicated somewhat by the fact that one person could eat no beef, and another could eat no mushrooms... but I persevered and this produced 2 lasagnas, one mushroom+spinach, the other spinach and beef. Hurray! Lasagna is one of those wonderfull foods that requires 8 bowls to prepare and one dish to serve. A challenge to all dishwashers everywhere, speaking of which, I used mine for the first time yesterday... so happy.
In sadder news the tape I was using to motivate me to write the next chapter of Looking was eaten yesterday morning, the first half is still ok, but the second half with all the good songs... is gone. And as this stuff is all 1950's folk... it's not exactally brimming over on the web. Le sigh. I'll just write the chapter without it! My bards will somply improvise when I can't remember the words ^_^;;. Bards.
How did I talk myself into writing bards as secondary characters... oh yes, because Twig is such a darling when doing the virtual puppy-dog-eyes thing. Speaking of which... Ann, Twig, Lucky Star? Need I say I'm drooling? I am... Twig the sooner you write it, the sooner I'll be obliged to rip it off and insert Sydney into a situation he'll /never/ forget...
Me:... come on... it's a guest lecturer position... only a semester...
Sydney: ... Gina /scares/ me...
(checks internal fluid levels) Yup, still crazy.
