happy tday!

i almost got a shock when i looked at the computer clock and saw that its 1.30am. oops. well its teachers' day celebration tmr so no biggie, juz need partial brain function. anyhow today is quite an interesting day. journeyed all the way to bukit panjang (hello, my house at ang mo kio) with wing to have the Swensen's Topless 5, but turned out that they changed the offer! (they were probably making a huge loss celebrating s'pore's bdae like that). was super disappointed but we made it up by having ice cream at the food court. oh wells. and oh my gosh we passed by this pet shop with incredible baby dwarf hammies in them all bunched up together and sleeping. *uses high pitched voice* SO CUTE!

met up with ailin to buy stuff for tmr's picnic breakfast? the things nj comes out with sometimes. haha. yeah we got all the sodium-saturated, fat-dipped, cholesterol-drenched junk food. All the nutrients we need to start the day off :D it was quite fun shopping around. yeah after that went to ailin's house to get the photo frames from her and ended up sitting in her kitchen playing with Xiaobai (her super personality rabbit with ultra chio eyelashes) and her Feifei (her recent acquirement of a ball of fur disguised as a hamster. and i really mean a ball.)

yeah rushed for gz, came home, slacked, watched 3rd last epi of Friends and started work on the frames. whew. i've exhausted every last bit of resource that i have at home man. hope the teachers like it! yeah i better get to sleep or i might juz miss the celebration in the end! haha.

cheers and a Happy Teachers' Day! Teachers, you have my utmost respect because i can't figure out why you guys can stand teaching a bunch of kids, especially. or us (same thing). i would probably have committed murder or vomitted blood already. so good luck to all teachers and wish them a long and healthy life! hahaha.

ahh i feel so hot. as in warm, argh its one of those sundays that are so typically sunny. no prizes for guessing why its named Sun-day then huh? haha. there's a constant, almost irritating breeze while the temperature remains high. if i'm a dog i'll be panting already, whew! hot hot hot! hotdog!

ahh my brain feels as if it is doing gymnastics like those flexible lithe bodies at Athens. oh must digress- watched the synchronised swimming and the hulahoop with ball finals. nice. oh yeah and i got a favourite show! its the Dragon Sabre and Heavenly Sword show every wkend at 7. this china remake is almost as good as the hong kong one. and watching it makes me feel as if my chinese still got hope. the girls inside are all super pretty too! can't wait for that show later!

coming back to why my brain is doing somersaults? cos of tmr's phy. geog mock on the arid topic! sheesh. i haven't studied at all.. was prancing around the house eating banana, feeding the bits of the banana to my hamster, playing the guzheng, looking for a new template, playing icy tower.. all these with the constant nagging thought that i have a mock test tmr. sometimes i really feel like giving up. that topic is so dry (pun not intended) why the hell would i wanna know about desertification at somewhere thousand of miles away.. *siigh*

how i wish i can be anywhere but here right now.

ok so i was getting bored and decided to be guai lan. glitterystar was not taken but yeah as zequan said, it sounds like those starry_gal, silver86_gal kinda name *makes funny face* so that was out. another good suggestion was erlexis but its a tad too corny huh and i don't wanna explain it to pple everytime they ask for my email. ok so i tried:

funnylameshit
gmail.com@gmail.com
ilovehotmail
yahooooo
faggotymaggot
maggotyfaggot
aey.el.ee.ex.eye.ass
gmailsux
mailingapileofshit

An old man was sitting on a bench at the mall. A young punk walked up to the bench and sat down. He had spiked hair in all different colors: green, red, orange, blue and yellow. The old man just stared. Every time the punk looked, the old man was staring at him.

The punk finally said sarcastically, "What's the matter, old timer? Never done anything wild in your life?" Without batting an eye, the old man replied, "Got drunk once and had sex with a peacock. I was just wondering if you were my son."

lol. oh yeah hey i realised my previous post did somewhat "spot" the GP paper 2 ques, though i don't think its useful at all. in fact, i think my GP prelims were kinda bad. spent half an hour choosing an essay question that in the end turned out crummy cos i don't have any examples. its more like a feminist essay than anything else. "Is it desirable for men and women to have separate and clearly differentiated roles in today's world?" oh wells. there's the As left.

oh ya, singapore idol! haha after the show i thought,hm.. maybe there's some hope for Singaporean men after all. david de cruz is damn good looking la! tall.. dark.. and handsome.. juz cannot sing! well haha god is fair. then there's benjamin eio, who looks like a cute lil' boy boy. but my 50 cents (yes, damn bloody expensive!) goes out to David Yeo, the Ex-Ah Beng! hee hee. enjoyed myself tremendously watching the show. high entertainment value and singaporeans can actually sing.. jeassea is good too! don't really like Olinda as much don't know why.

hmm had an interesting lit s session today with the "panel" comprising of mr.dio and ms champagne. as always, mr dio likes to ask "what is _______(insert name here) trying to do?". it was kinda muddle-ish and cheem as we discussed cos we tend to go in all sorts of directions, but we've learnt quite a bit i think, regarding shakespearean tragedies and stuff. why do pple pay money to go and watch a horror or sad movie, knowing that its going to be unlike comedies where you can go hahaha and relieve stress? yeah that's the catharsis bit.

Catharsis: n. pl. ca·thar·ses (-sz)
1. A purifying or figurative cleansing of the emotions, especially pity and fear, described by Aristotle as an effect of tragic drama on its audience.
2. A release of emotional tension, as after an overwhelming experience, that restores or refreshes the spirit.

urgh. i am hungry. well its 2.27AM now.

"Surprisingly, recent research suggests that a religious person is more likely to commit a crime than a non-religious person. One can even argue that the more religious the society, the more likely it is to have high crime rates.

What's more, studies indicate that a believer in a religion is less likely to do a good deed than is a non-believer. Religion alone, many researchers agree, does not determine personal moral behavior." -Opposing Viewpoints(Lisa Conyers and Philip D. Harvey)

interesting, ain't it? haha trying to read up on GP now. don't know how else to study for it. atheists are less likely to do crime huh? haha ok so you can count on me not to break into your house some random night and make away with your stuff. its quite coincidental that me and zq were talking bout religion among our eng teachers. how mr. whitby always came across as anti-christ and how there's a polar opposite in ms chua.

i've always wondered about religion. why is it that some people need to have a particular faith in a higher being and what it does to them spiritually. when i see them turning to prayers and faith for help i can't help but be slightly cynical. i do believe in a higher being but not one that does take care of you in "mysterious ways". i think the main and sole reason for religion should be moral guidance but even that is subverted in today's world, what with the above article about inverse relationship between crime and religion as well as religion becoming an excuse for all sorts of evil things like war.

what about heaven and hell? what if a person led a normal life, without any crime but not doing good in general? what if that person does not believe in a specific god? if they have no knowledge of its existence? e.g. the bushmen who hunts and lives simply. perhaps they have their own religion- one that worships the earth that gave them food. do they worry about whether they go to heaven or hell? if people do good solely on the account that they'll go to heaven for that do they still go to heaven? why do people want to believe in an afterlife? in my opinion, its this life that matters. isn't it better to lie on your deathbed knowing that you have lived your life to your fullest without regrets than being happy and peaceful that you'll go to heaven after all the good work you've done?

ah, a passage full of rhetoric questions. or are they really questions? i have no idea.

today was good. having Swensens' Topless 5 made all things good. too bad we can't choose the flavours! next time go bishan ok? i want lime sherbet..chewy chocolate.. yummy raisin.. yam.. cookies and cream.. *trails off and starts expanding*

wanted to skip sch today if not for chua's lessons. *yawn again* oops why am i so tired? oh yeah settled quite a bit of stuff today. ran around from coro to toa payoh to yio chu kang.. ah now there's nothing to do. i keep telling myself i'll clear the plath essay. but how to do one when i have not started revision on it? in the end i'll juz be handing in something similiar to a unseen poem so nahh.. i'll do it soon but not now.

about the phone incident... juz wanna thank you guys out there for being so supportive and helpful.. esp. to layz for helping me to suspend the card, faith for lending me her phone, beat for telling me she misses sms-ing me, and felicia sis for offering to send a phone over! *overwhelmed with gratitude*

i felt a bit lost w/o my phone. but never fear! getting the card back tmr! :D

Fact of the day from some NDP site - "Singapore actually has the largest per capita of bloggers in the world." -wow.

i wanna bite you.

shit i lost my phone. or rather, my sis'.

don't bother contacting me. i think i'll be phoneless till sat cos my heartless dad refuses to go to the Hello! shop with me to get the replacement sim card. Heartless, you know. how cruel can one's own father get?

anywae, the story of how i stupidly got the phone lost:
as usual, in the morning i take bus 852..always filled with pple but finally got chance to sit down. then there's this bangala beside me whom i noticed got a v.unusual phone cos its Mitsubitshi brand. anywae i sat down and took out my phone too to change to silent mode like i do every morning. then i must have slipped it into my pocket- seemingly. i think i did not get it in though. shit it la i only realised after like 4 hrs? anyway its too late, tried calling the phone but there's no response so some bangala probably got it, threw my card into the long gang and gave the phone to his philipino gf.

thing is, the phone's my sis. cos my 8310 is spoiled. now i'll have to hurry repair that phone and see how. damn. damn. and i lost my guzheng nails. all in a day.

anyone got spare phone to lend? donate? give?

:(

a utilitarian approach

hey look i've decided to surprise you with another template! i've been storing this one up already. since there's 5 weeks of no o.c. there's no sense keeping the previous one- it'll only make me miss the show even more. so this, a refreshing ocean blue template of the beach, babes and hunks, is a foreshadowing man, of the good times awaiting.

maths mock today was horrible. after which a 3.5 hr lit hardcore makeup lecture totally drained my brain juices and gave me a tremendous headache, culmulating from the lack of sleep these few days. had cheese fries after sch and reached home just in time to catch the table tennis match between Lin Jia Wei and the korean player who keeps making sharp, irritating staccatos of shouts in between those paddle-swinging. wat's wrong with her man. anyway quite sad, jiawei din make it. hope she gets the bronze! though my dad was highly cynical about all these matches being pre-determined.. since a gold=1 million for a singaporean player he/she can bribe the other party to throw the game. korea doesn't seem to take it though. oh well no welcoming present for our newly appointed PM then.
