okok, i shall stop talking about myself in third person for a change. but that method does put you in a completely different perspective - its like watching yourself from the side like an observer. anyway, i'm using the strawberry candy-flavoured computer in the Bytz room again during PW. Har har. ultimate slackerdum. weather still as hot, and i'm so happy i dun have to attend the Sports Day later. can't wait for band practice to start!
oh and GP made me quite happy today! i got 31/50 for my GP essay and 29.5/50 for my comprehension. That's not bad at all, considering quite a no. of pple failed. Bleah but i couldn't concentrate in the 2-hr gp class today. oh well. can't blame me.
ugh the thing about Mac com.- it refuses to display my blog site. So irritating! others all can. Hrmphz. i'm feeling hungry. i'm wondering if i should join drama club. they called me ytd to ask me to attend a meeting at 3 today, if i want to join. during the first 3 mths i was quite interested, but what now with the band and its never ending events like the finals and the concert, i'm 'fraid i can't commit myself to drama. sigh.
i'm as ravenous as a wolf now. some one pls feed me. oh and any ticket orders for Etude? muz go k!!!

alexis's econs teacher is not here today, so she is again in the Bytz room. This computer room seemed to become one of her favorite hangout, partly due to the air con. Anyway, she went to watch The Matrix Reloaded and she thinks the show totally rox, though she prefers the 1st one more. She went to watch the 6.50pm movie with her sis, and they had to rush terribly to make it on time. The show is a mind-blaster in her opinion, and the action is very zai. She came out of the cinema feeling bewildered and blown away at the same time. She gives the movie a 8/10 rating. the 2 points is lost because she does not understand the movie at some parts. and she had this sneaking suspicion that some parts are there just to confuse, for example the Architect talking a whole lot of crap that she's sure nobody understands. oh, and she thinks Neo is so cool in the show, though a bit too cool at some times when without even a flick of emotion on his white pasty face.
her fav. two parts are the huge party at Zion, and the highway chase. The highway chase is the most exciting part, that goes without saying. The party... She shall just say its sensual and nicely-shot. Its good to see Neo as a human being sometimes, and during that scene.. then you can see some emotion. oh and by the way, alexis is quite bewildered by the superman thing that Neo does. It is so cliche, she can't believe neo can bring himself to do it. Wat about teleporting? isn't that efficient and more believable? and there's a lot of asian elements drawn into the show. juz her small observation.
there are so many parallels in the show, her mind had a pretty hard time digesting just the names. Morpheus, Trinity, Persephone, Alice in Wonderland, and her literature teacher said something about Mr. Smith and the thing with wearing a black suit and tie. Borrowed themes from Buddhism, Gnosticism, and the philosophies of Plato, Descartes and Jean Baudrillard...whew that's a whole lot of brain matter material.
alexis completed her NAPFA today with her 2.4 km run! She managed a time of 16:36 and she feels darn proud of it, since she has reached the target she set for herself, whihc is completing the 6 rounds in 16:50. She can get a silver medal this year! The first thing she said when she touched the finishing line was, "SILVER!" Alexis' first silver medal.
she still have two hours of chinese lessons later at 3 pm, and the sun is shining too brightly. The weather is hot today! She really don't feel like going for chinese lessons. It is sheer torture to her(and everybody) to sit in that stuffy room listening to the teacher talk about something. Bleah. Alexis says hi to beatrice who is beside her! =)
-=chew on it=-Saturday, May 24, 2003 | 11:57 p.m.
and alexis adds yet another entry to her blog. She spent the past half hour changing her guestbook so it looks even more appealing so that people can sign. She finally had band today, and enjoyed herself thoroughly in the company of music and friends. She played Poet and Peasant, Basque Rhapsody, Finnish Folk Suite and Vesuvius today. The count of the different songs she played since joining NJ band now increases from 3 to 6 pieces.
she had also gotten her Etude XXVIII concert tickets. Details are as follows: date 1 August, Friday, at 8 pm, Victoria Concert Hall. Stalls at $8, circle seats at $10. She hopes that she can sell her 10 stall tickets and more! Interested, pls contact alexis ASAP, and she'll gladly sell u the tickets to the wonderful concert.
Rum and Raisins ice-cream today for alexis, again! She likes it so much her handphone profile is named after it. Venezia is the best ice-cream shop in her opinion! The mango flavoured one is found to be very tantalising after she tried it. The weather is sunny and very windy. Seems like Nature is trying to make up for the humid weather by giving a whole of wind at the same time, so much so that alexis' section's music scores got scattered all over the canteen during midday when they were practising.
her neck is straining right now as she sits at the edge of the chair, ready to flee the moment the giant bug starts to fly around again. She had been interrupted from blogging twice already. and she is lamenting the fact that the weekend is almost going to be over, since sundays are over in a wink, and The Week will arrive and slowly chew alexis up and spit her out by friday. But she holds a glimmer of hope on catching at least the matrix reloaded or X2 during the course of the week, and of course that immediately cheers her up again! Oh, and alexis would like to say hi back to all those who signed the book and made her warm and fuzzy all over. Those who read and didn't sign? don't worry, alexis would like to say she understands, before the pinprick of guilt washes over you.
-=boing=-Friday, May 23, 2003 | 01:23 p.m.
and here is alexis, slacking away again in the Bytz room during her free periods again. She is enjoying the air con, as well as using a Mac computer! The computer is a dark blue one, equipped with a sensor mouse and a funky keyboard. There is even a Internet Explorer for Mac for her to use (since Netscape is absolutely horrible on her blog). She likes the mac design very much, and the desktop and colour displays are so asthetically pleasing its like using a candy computer. How she wished IE will wise up, or rather Mr. Bill Gates can take a leaf out of the mac's book, and improve on the design!
alexis's classmates sharon, beat and biquan are here too. They are doing their project work, which all three agree that is totally horrendous. Alexis wishes her three buddies good luck on their work in her pitas blog! She did not sleep until the witching hour yesterday so she felt slightly worn-out and tired now, hence she's not as bouncy as other days. She did have fun in maths tutorial though. It's becoming one of her favourite lessons, though her understanding of maths is steadily going on the decline.
she still have guzheng lessons later after school, and what with the stifling weather, she is going to be very hot and flustered when she rushes home. All she wants to do now is to curl up in a bed and sleep. Oh and by the way, Alexis also hopes that whoever who read this blog leave a note in the guestbook because she loves to hear from them! :D
-=day of alexis' life=-Thursday, May 22, 2003 | 09:14 p.m.
It is another routine Thursday in the 3rd last week of school. Alexis went to school today, and did her maths and econs tests. She is almost 200% sure that she'll fail both, since she did not study for them, and do not understand the AP GP Summation at all. Thursday is the 2nd most hated day of the week for Alexis, because its the day where there's PE and chinese. Double horror for her and her class. Laughing hard and climbing stairs became very difficult due to her aching muscles caused by the 5-items physical test on Tuesday.
Today's weather is still very humid and warm, but it is not as bad as Tuesday, which had a temperature of 35.9 degrees celcius, reportedly the hottest day of the year. Alexis managed to get a good night's sleep last night, though it was quite short. She was quite disappointed yesterday because band practice was cancelled, and she was looking forward to playing the new songs for the concert.
Alexis enjoys watching reality tv shows like Survivor and American Idol. She had juz managed to unglue her pair of shining globes from the tube to stare at another cathode-ray oscilloscope. The songs that Clay and Ruben sang are absolutely moving and fantastic in her opinion, and her pocky-muncher Beatrice also shares the same sentiments. She has to complete her geography assignment on Boserup and Malthusian theories on population growth by tonight or she'll be reprimanded tomorrow at Mr. Barber's class. Being a procrastinator, she will most probably do it only after 10 pm.
Alexis is looking very much forward to the weekend, and friday is here soon. She is also looking forward to the band practice on Saturday. The Matrix is also showing on Sunday. Hopefully she can catch Matrix Reloaded the next week. X2 is also on Alexis' agenda. Time seems to be so short for all the things Alexis wants to do, but she seems to be wasting her life on things that she does not want to participate in, for example- sitting in a small boxed room with white washed walls and useless humming fans to ventilate the oven called the classroom.
She now signs off reluctantly from pitas and stops talking in the 3rd person. Nitez~!

-=friends=-Tuesday, May 20, 2003 | 10:01 p.m.
juz a thought. just as everyone is getting blogs, does that mean something? does that mean that we now prefer to confide in the internet, exposing our various deep thoughts and muses, than confiding in our bestest friends around us? or am i being too cynical. :/
-------
A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead. He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them.
After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight. When he was standing before it, he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother of pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold.
He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side. When he was close enough, he called out, "Excuse me, where are we?"
"This is Heaven, sir," the man answered.
"Wow! Would you happen to have some water?" the man asked.
"Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up." The man gestured, and the gate began to open.
"Can my friend," gesturing toward his dog, "come in, too?" the traveler asked.
"I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets."
The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog.
After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road which led through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence. As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.
"Excuse me!" he called to the reader. "Do you have any water?"
"Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there". The man pointed to a place that couldn't be seen from outside the gate. "Come on in."
"How about my friend here?" the traveler gestured to the dog.
"There should be a bowl by the pump." They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it. The traveler filled the bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog.
When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree waiting for them.
"What do you call this place?" the traveler asked.
"This is Heaven," was the answer.
"Well, that's confusing," the traveler said. "The man down the road said that was Heaven, too."
"Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope.
That's Hell."
"Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?"
"No. I can see how you might think so, but we're just happy that they screen out the folks who'll leave their best friends behind."

i seemed to be perpetually hungry today! wassup wif my metabolical sys? hahaha.
This site was the one ms. teo intro-ed to us during lit lesson. i find it quite interesting! the style is somewat like the scaryduck's blog. brilliantly caustic and amusing content. i wonder how these pple write? the words come out.. in a very nice way. sigh. i can't express myself so clearly though i have a lot of things to say.
Due to the inclement weather, the students could not concentrate their attention on their academic requirements, causing the teachers to be exasperated with them. THe weather is so darn hot today! ARrgh i need air-con. woke up bathed in sweat. Sux. Then today mr. lee was like sleepy during econs tutorial. he admitted it. haha. generally, mon and tues sux. Tues the most coz there's a 2hr chinese lesson at the end of the day. I hate chinese lessons. did compo today. finished in like 1 hr, and spent the rest of the time numbing my arm coz i rested my heavy head there. can't find a suitable position to sleep.
its 9.26 and i haven eaten any dinner yet. no wonder my stomach is flipping. but i don't feel like eating anything. Bleah appetite is getting from bad to worse. wat i need now is RUm N RaIsInS i-scream! u scream i scream we all scream for ice-creaM!

-=elm=-Monday, May 19, 2003 | 08:40 p.m.
I know the bottom, she says. I know it with my great tap root;
It is what you fear.
I do not fear it: I have been there.
Is it the sea you hear in me,
Its dissatisfactions?
Or the voice of nothing, that was you madness?
Love is a shadow.
How you lie and cry after it.
Listen: these are its hooves: it has gone off, like a horse.
All night I shall gallup thus, impetuously,
Till your head is a stone, your pillow a little turf,
Echoing, echoing.
Or shall I bring you the sound of poisons?
This is rain now, the big hush.
And this is the fruit of it: tin white, like arsenic.
I have suffered the atrocity of sunsets.
Scorched to the root
My red filaments burn and stand,a hand of wires.
Now I break up in pieces that fly about like clubs.
A wind of such violence
Will tolerate no bystanding: I must shriek.
The moon, also, is merciless: she would drag me
Cruelly, being barren.
Her radience scathes me. Or perhaps I have caught her.
I let her go. I let her go
Diminshed and flat, as after radical surgery.
How your bad dreams possess and endow me.
I am inhabited by a cry.
Nightly it flaps out
Looking, with its hooks, for something to love.
I am terrified by this dark thing
That sleeps in me;
All day I feel its soft, feathery turnings, its malignity.
Clouds pass and disperse.
Are those the faces of love, those pale irretrevables?
Is it for such I agitate my heart?
I am incapable of more knowledge.
What is this, this face
So murderous in its strangle of branches?--
Its snaky acids kiss.
It petrifies the will. These are the isolate, slow faults
That kill, that kill, that kill.
//
did this poem in dio's lit lesson today. its about plath's ambivalent feelings, and in the end, says that love from the various relationships we have will just slowly kill us. Just like what the wind, rain, moon, sun and clouds did to the elm tree. Morbid stuff? Actually i don't feel so. when we did the poem, i can't help but agree silently what plath is trying to say. i think i can understand. the ambivalent attitude towards that complex emotion. the chase, the fear. i think this is going to be one of my favourite poem from plath so far.
anyway, today's weather is so stifling and unbearable, i was more tired from trying to stay awake during lessons than trying to pay attention to the teacher. Oh and we got our thermometers today! hahaha was quite interesting. havda stick it under my tongue. kinda hurts when i poke too hard. haha avg. temp is around 36.5 deg. celcius. i'm cool yeah...
went to Venezia today! haha highlight of the day. The Rum and Raisins ummm.. happiness, as beat calls it. Ultimate satisfaction from the icy smooth unique flavour! Love it. Forgot how fantastic it tasted until i was reminded by beat today. >.< Raspberry's great too. Tried out hazelnut. incredible. all in all.. superyummylicious! gosh i can write so much juz about the best ice-cream in Bukit Timah. ahh.. can i be a gourmet taster when i grow up? =P

Sunday, May 18, 2003 | 12:37 a.m.
ouch. am i a sentimentalist? i juz lurve slow songs eg. soluna... and i juz heard this song on radio. sigh. wat lyrics.
Brandy - Have You Ever?
[Chorus]
Have you ever loved somebody so much
It makes you cry
Have you ever needed something so bad
You can't sleep at night
Have you ever tried to find the words
But they don't come out right
Have you ever, have you ever
Have you ever been in love
Been in love so bad
You'd do anything to make them understand
Have you ever had someone steal your heart away
You'd give anything to make them feel the same
Have you ever searched for the words to get you in their heart
But you don't know what to say
And you don't know where to start
[Chorus]
Have you ever found the one
You've dreamed of all of your life
You'd do anything to look into their eyes
Have you finally found the one you've given your heart to
Only to find that one won't give their heart to you
Have you ever closed your eyes and
Dreamed that they were there
And all you can do is wait for the day when they will care
[Chorus]
What do I gotta do to get you in my arms baby
What do I gotta say to get to your heart
To make you understand how I need you next to me
Gotta get you in my world
'Cuz baby I can't sleep
[Chorus]

god i'm so tired! yaawnz. dunno wat i'm doing online. waiting for my hair to dry i guess. got home at 11. today's College Day. Went to sch at 2 to discuss PW. then went band...the usual. Today's perf's not really nice. in fact, it kinda sux although everything is alright. its just the feel is not there. oh, and guess what. i dropped my mute again! it fell clankety clank on the floor just before the anklung started. everyone's like staring at me. UGH. and mr. ho had to bend down and pick it up for me. (he was the one that caused my mute to drop anyway). The corridor is so narrow. then, i made the chair beside me screech when we were going to go on stage. WTFH. Not my fault lah. hahah i'm that clumsy. if i keep on dropping my mutes... i'm gonna earn a reputation as the mute-dropper already. Groanz.
went to Newton food centre to eat after. ate like hokkien mee and shared the satay, while the rest had oyster omelette and popiah. Haha. Not bad. the sugar cane juice is good. oh i'm so tired. in a quiet mood today. wasn't like as hyper as i should have been. oh well. it happens. hmz.. how come i always feel very....warm at night? like my whole body will be "feverish" but i don't have fever kind. like the blood circulation is v.thorough. haha. oh, was pleasantly surprised by the no. of stars we saw when we left the sch. THe night sky was dotted with shining stars. I think they are so nice and winky. they rock.

Let's let our love unfurl.
You know you want me baby,
You know I want you too,

There are only 2 things to worry about:-=Never say die=-
Either you are well or you are sick;
but if you are sick,
there are only 2 things to worry about;
Either you will get well or you will die;
if you get well there's nothing to worry about;
If you die there are only two things to worry about;
Either you will go to Heaven or to Hell...
If you go to Heaven there's nothing to worry about;
But if you go to Hell you will be so busy shaking hands with friends you will have no time to worry
so WHY WORRY?
Saturday, May 10, 2003 | 09:48 p.m.
Yup, today mr ho talked to us when we went for College Day rehearsal in the morning. Apparently, some pple are not satisfied with the SYF's results, esp. targeted at us. They feel that they deserve it more than we do. Now that's like so narrow-minded and shallow. I totally agree with Mr. Ho. We went up, we gave our best. That was good enough to get us into top5, and the judge's decisions are to be respected. anyway, found out that he talks a lot of sense sometimes. Never say die! That's like the attitude.
anyway, had the rehearsal. we don't sound good. Yeah, to me, i feel that we have deteriorated, even though only 2 days have passed. Nothing can ever be better than the VCH's one-time performance, i guess. its a mentality thing. and i know there's still room for improvement in the piece. Vesuvius can be better. We have the capacity to do it. =)
was feeling so hungry. only had lunch at 3 plus after rehearsals. 'twas a good lunch though. Hahah at KAP mac. Bleagh the sundae is still so sweet. Oh wellz. The weather is cool in the morning, drizzling on and off. Now it's humid. >.< ah feel like archiving. hmz. mebbe its time to change layout again! hahaha. the "Getting Gold" effect is still not wearing out. I'm still experiencing sudden bouts of irrational happiness. Heee!
