1. The stall and overall the funfair was a huge success.
2. We earned S$1235, given the $20 start-up fund.
3. We were given a treat by Ms Teo to Swensens'.
4. I'm very very tired right now.
woke up while all the rest of my family was sleeping at 6.30 and left the house at 7 to walk straight into the deluge that started with the ominous rumbling thunder. Ugh. Felt as if the heavens were pouring all they got on me. The umbrella served no purpose. i was dry the first few seconds when i walked out of the shelter, following that i was being slapped by the pelting rain everywhere. My shoes were completely drowned in sloshy runoff.
reached sch, play the fanfare, manned the band etude ticket stall, changed into our funky orange class t and went to our stall. things were quite alright, though the heavy morning rain did some damage. kids love our game, and they kept surging right up to ask for more. heh heh. spent most of the time picking up the green ping pong balls from the rusty water(which the guys got from the water hydrant hose). i think it's the most lucrative games stall around already. manual labour in preparations aside, all we had to do is to shout for pple to come, tell them the price, pick up the balls and start all over again, unlike food stalls.
speaking about manual labour. most of the class spent the entire ytd afternoon preparing the stall. The amount of water the tanks need! sigh, and our class only have 7 guys.. out of which only like 4 or 5 were actually ready to help. oh well. did the best we could and totally exhausted ourselves running everywhere getting this and that. if only we can teleport back.(like power rangers~! haha)
yawnz. so tired. oh yar, in the end, the pool cue was not won by anybody, so it's still with us. we might sell it to get back some money. then after all the packing up(another session of manual labour), teo wanted to treat us dinner! haha delibrated over it, and..why not? we deserve it anyway. went to swensens. my Salmon and Mushroom Baked Rice took so long, everybody almost finished eating when it came. The Crunchie Cone was heavenly. yeah. nice, satisfying meal, after a hard day's work. our class gets along nicely too :)
and the end of the funfair closes yet another chapter in my life in JC. One more hurdle to go, and that's the Band Concert, after 1 Aug i'll have no more worries! :) can't wait for band on monday. as for tmr? no prizes for guessing wat i'll do. *piggish grin*

ah, the finals are finally over! haha went sch at 11.20 am juz for econs lecture cos i dun feel like going to sch so early in the morning. man it feels good to skip classes. hope it doesn't become a habit! haha ytd was great! yeah, we din do any major screw-ups, performed as normal.. RJC band won! congrats to them man. too bad can't hear 'em.. want the recording!
felt jittery the whole day.. woke up and felt nervous immediately! we din have to go for lessons on wed, juz be at the band room at 2.30. heh slept till 10. nice time to wake up to :P if only i get that everyday. *wistful sigh* went to esplanade, did our thing.. everything happened so quickly, there's no time to think! haha all i can remember is i was so excited. haha that's sort of the "peak" of my trombone "history"? yeah.. esplanade rox. but heard comments that our band was too puny on the stage compared to other bands. and we sounded nice in vch cos got echo i think.. esplanade not as echo-y.
took a picture with qilin, kah hua, benson and sweeyan! haha we r the survivors man. Ai Tong Band members forever~! yeah.. always felt high after a bout on the stage. Hmz. is that wat performing is all about? the nervous energy, the blinding lights, the adrenaline rush, the thundering applause. :D love it.
we cheered like crazy at Circle 2.. haha for no reason too, juz for fun. felt a palpable tension in the air when the top band was going to be announced. i think we all secretly harboured a tiny hope that we might come out tops. after all, we never expected to get top5, so might as well try our luck. feeling a teeny weeny bit of disappointment when the results came out, but hey, we expected it, and were very glad to get top5 already. we were expecting to get silver in the very first place, and look where we got! it rained so heavily when we came out. had to walk all the way out, and my court shoes were giving me pure torture. why am i not a guy? haha. then there's no need for stockings and hellish shoes. haha OOP(out of point). reached home at 11.30! by the time i hit the bed it was 1. ><
our stall is coming along nicely! finally did chip in and stayed back to help our class with the preparations today. not bad, but i was so tired at the end. phew. i think i haven been back home before 6 for a very long time. stayed back till the sun sets everyday, for this for that. sigh. all this will be over after 1 Aug. Concert tickets, anyone wanna go? plsplsplspls, go.

take a look at wats creating all the big hoohaa on the net: the RJC Teacher Vs Student video-clip that's making the rounds on the net. ms teo mentioned it, as well as mr. ho. haha i was quite curious to see wat's all the fuss about, heard that the GP's teacher's command of engrish is quite powderful, even when she's in such an agitated state.
ah, some of the teachers around are really wonderful. Actually, i was not really impressed by the rj teacher's barrage and the tearing of papers. seems quite familiar to me(ms t fits right to the description!). experienced even more "traumatic" incidents in primary school before, and no one did anything.
that teacher from pri sch did stuff like throwing our bags out of the classroom so hard the pencil boxes broke and pinching boys on the arm for trivial discipline reasons. I still remember how he stared down at me when he suspected it was my parents who complained to sch about him pinching the students. i was terrified. he pinched one of the boys so hard that a blue black the size of 3 fify cent coins appeared. actually i think that the GP teacher's anger is quite understandable, as PRC students are supposed to be more hardworking. that's why they can come over to Singapore rite?
haha found it ironic to have the Singapore flag in the background too. and the teacher is a lit student! (that explains everything *rolls eyes*). what's more, the class seems not to think that it was an uncommon occurance, for u see one of the classmate strolling past the camera in the middle of her scolding. chey. nothing much. tear paper only wat.
however, i do think that this kind of scolding is totally useless. when u scold students like that, they will just develop an even deeper hatred for the subject rite? yeah, EQ is impt! being a student myself, i would think that a GP teacher's job nowadays is not to drill students and verbally abuse them for homework, but to engage the students in lively intellectual conversations that can spark new ideas, and makes GP lessons a much more interesting subject. i feel quite lucky to have ms chong(left for MOE :() and mrs gan(new GP teacher, but v.nice too! :D) to be our GP teachers.. they are totally different from the one in the video! haha.
that aside, i no need to go sch tmr! *yay!* i only need to report at 2.30. haha slaaack man. think i'm gonna be v.nervous tmr though. SYF finals!!! *does a little jump thingamajig* things are either gonna turn out juz fine, or we could just screw up everything and become the 5th band. really hope we give a smashing performance tomorrow! we deserve our gold, our top5! haha. sa's playing Glen Miller Medley, RJ playing Giant Robot, AC playing Irish Tune from County Derry, TJ playing Japanese Graffiti VII, nj playing An American in Paris! see the similarities in style of pieces? think its gonna be real fun for the audience!

Alexis thinks that she's using the 3rd person monologue rite now. Is she? she's not sure. been so blur today. Monday perhaps? maybe. nothing much, had band again. band was quite normal, but she's so scared they'll screw up during the finals and mess up all the tempo again, as that can happen anytime wif mr. ho.
weather's been dandy these days. it kept its cool! the skies are thundering rite now, no rain yet. oh, she had such a fun geog lesson today. sitting besides doug is always v.funny during lessons. can't stop laffing over his little comments and jokes. haha. not much homework, so its slack time for her. and she realises that if she's got a F for econs(which is highly probable), she'll get FOC! haha. lit paper not yet. Oh, got back chinese results today. not bad, she managed a B3! *happy* haha its like quite encouraging.

commercial aside, todae i felt a 100% betta! man its friday nite, the weekend is but a few minutes away and todae's lessons are short and sweet! compare and contrast with ytd man... btw, wonder wat narrative technique am i using...todae teo's like going on to prose techniques, and i started to wonder what technique do i use when i blog, and i can't figure it out no matter how hard i tried! is it the "Stream of Consciousness" or "1st person narrator" or "3rd person omniscient" or wat? still got...forget what liao. sigh.
oh ytd, besides the fact that we went to the Esplanade- Theatres on the Bay to rehearse for band finals, everything else juz sux. i dunno why but it all started going downhill after 2.30. before that was all exciting and fun! esplanade is really really nice. haha but the tuning room smells like a petshop.. and the hallways look like hospital setting. other than that and the durian spikes(ying ci saes they are called sails *rolls eyes*).
we did well for our rehearsal in the morning... the sound reverberated for 2 secs. in vch it was 8, according to mr ho. can't really remember all the details.. but we got the tag that's like such a ego boost. hahah "Cheong Yi Jia, Artist" !!! hahah that feels great man. had lunch at marche.. yum. haha. our section's great... not as big as the saxes, but we get along well! went to see the 'sea'(or river?) outside esplanade for a while before going back.. such poetic settings.
we were not allowed to watch other bands play before us too! but we're the last band! not fair. *hmpz* went to take this super super big lift that can take in the whole band -_- took to the dressing rooms with cool bulbs round the mirrors! so dramatic, so funky! haha like those in the seventies "makeup, hair, dressing!" :D i was thinking, how appearances were the most important thing to a performer, and the bulbs and mirrors are proof to that. no matter how bad u feel inside, when u step on the stage, u have to cover all of that up and do what you are supposed to do.
mebbe its that thought, or something.. but i started to feel drained. and its gets progressively worst. i was trying to keep everything up. went to the Artist Lounge(damn cool place.) phew the esplanade really does make performers feel impt! stoned around for a while.. then went back on stage. got the news of our class maths. then up we went to stage for the proper rehearsal.. we screwed uP! i can't believed how badly we played. big time. our tempo was unsteady, our entrances everywhere, volume off, eVerytHing! i was so sad after that, cos i began to doubt if our gold was really what we are worth.
got off the stage and immediately felt better, and worst at the same time. they went thru the prize presentation.. so funny. haha. saw quite a lot of pple but din have chance to tok to them- sad. then had to lug that stupid trombone coffin all around to the bus. i feel so tired and drained, so sick of everything suddenly that it frightens me. i feel like i juz went stumbled into a cold dark chamber and was locked in. i kept to myself all the way home, finding no words inside. i kept thinking what happened to me.. i don't know exactly, but i guess its the stress from being in top 5 and playing so badly? high expectations... esplanade.
but i'm way better, as said before. haha even though our class is like the last in the whole level for maths and i got a nice 38(i'm satisfied, dun worry). 1 person passed, the range is from 9 to 48, and 9 pple got Opass, 9 got Fs.. haha quite hard to make it to the last class, but we did it! *celebrates* find it so amusing. sectionals todae oso made me realize that all is not lost, cos everyone was so hard at work practicing, i can't but feel hopeful again! haha and i worked out my rhythm and all, so feeling much more confident and assured that we won't put nj band to shame.
ah well, listening compre and band tmr. wish me luck, and i do hope i can remember to pack my brains and ears for tmr! *grins* nitez world!
