-=half-day=-
Friday, May 9, 2003 | 08:53 p.m. Half-day! In recognition of band, choir and CO's win in the syfs, we have half a day off to celebrate! Feels great! Hahaha its also the first time i'm part of the reason that a sch. gets its half day. Usually its other ccas, etc etc. Ahhhh~ this morning was great, when CO announced its results to the sch. the atmosphere was high man! hahaha everyone for a moment was together in the spirit of victory and celebration. NJ seems to be on a winning streak. Cept for tt girls and the soccer draw with hc, all we had these week is good news! the sports ccas all won! haha softball the score was like 26-1. =D yeah yeah. Friday nite rox. have college day rehearsal tmr for band. =) yay. lurve lurve going band and playing t-bone etc etc. Hahahaha. rox rox rox! Oh i'm incomprehensible. Can't help it. hee. had a great time at Cosy Corner at Coro (hey, triple alliteration!) haha. the food's nice. Hahah and i was like so super grossed/freaked out at the end when doug pointed out this pimple photo at the beauty saloon beside cosy corner. it's SO gross. UGH. haha beat was like laffing at my reaction when i saw the pic. *pukes* yucks. its really v.bad! Yaaaaaaaaay its the weekend. Finally. -=GOLD!=-Thursday, May 8, 2003 | 07:59 p.m. oh my!!! National Junior College Chinese Orchestra has gotten a gold, and gotten into the finals too! THis is great great news. The prediction that things happen in threes came true. Choir, band and CO has gotten gold, tops! *yaay* i feel so proud to be in nj band! We performance groups rock! Hahahahaha i'm still feeling great from njcsb's gold. and, juz the other day i was jesting(again) in the band store room that if CO got all three gold, we might get a half-day! I hope that can come true. MAnz. this rox! yeah, hi to missy. Said i'll mention u right? haha yupz :D need i say more, u r a great fren. =) anyway, jia you for the string orch's syf in july too k~! hahah get ANOTHER gold. din feel like going to sch, cept that i was motivated to go coz of band's morning assembly. We have proved to NJC that we can make it. The Majulah Singapura anthem was the best i've ever played. Hahaha and it made a difference! Yeah good high feeling. *smiles beam laff* lessons today are super boring. Was so tired from ytd i din have much energy to pay attention in lessons. And it felt sooo wierd to go home at 4. i almost wanted to go to the band room for some "individual" prac until beat and sharon dragged me away. i'm missing the walking-out-in-the-dark-after-band with the 74 gang. Haha. I miss band. I can sit and prac for 3 hrs straight without feeling tired but i can't sit still for an hour in tutorial without feeling drained. the weather is so humid these days. i have so much homework to be completed by fri i think i can't manage all. Only geog and econs essay maybe. maths tutorial inequalities will have to wait. Sigh. The backlog of hw sucks. i'm like 3 tutorials behind. Still groping about my Summation chapter! Hip hip hooray for NJC Perf. Groups! -=Dreams fulfilled=-Wednesday, May 7, 2003 | 09:58 p.m. I'll never forget today as long as i live. As at around 5, the results came out. National Junior College Symphonic Band got a GOLD in the 2003 Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging Band Competition. No words can describe how i feel. Man oh man oh man. here's how the day went. Went to nj in stockings/socks, orientation-t.. din see the class at all. Straight to the band room for warmup at 7.30. The principal talked to us at 8 for a while, encouraging us, before we started doing a bit of practice. Then went to change, packed up, and boarded the bus at 9.35. Reached vch at 10.30. Saw a lot of pple at vch today. First was Huishan with vj band, followed by yingying and aiqi. Yeah. I wasn't feeling anything then though. Very very normal. No nervousness, nothing. Went through the motions. The weather was very hot though, and the blazer was...blazing. started to get a bit jittery when going up to tune. Then its time to go up. First screw-up: we were not allowed to go in from the left side of the band. Instead, our row had to go across the stage, then up the stage, so the moving in was not smooth at all. i almost had no chair to sit on! Hahaha. Yep. Bad start. BUT Tales of the Sea was fantastic. Whew. The F part was neatly in time, for once! Then came Vesuvius. Imagine the band walking on tightrope. We nearly fell. Then we regained our balance. The slow movement part, mr ho cued wrongly, so the band was juz hanging by a thread that moment, ready to go wrong and screw everything up. But our hard work has paid off. yeah we regained the tempo, and ended with such a impressive last note. Top of the world, top of the world. Yeah, oboe solo was so good too. AH... juz can't believe we clinched the gold, AND top 5. Was slightly solemn after com, felt that we had 50% chance of gold. Walked to suntec for BK lunch. Then hurried back to listen to the rest, but i couldn't get in! *argh* darn. so, waited like 3 bloody hours for the results outside the hall, just outside. Was so frustrating to be outside. So near, yet so far. I guess that sort of builds up the tension too, for me. rushed up when we heard we could go in for the results. Ended up standing at the back with yunqi, huifang and 2 other njcsb peepz. We missed out the commenting part, but.... came the results. i was nearly going into hyperventilation then. The air was pregnant with suspense. Then it hit. Wham bam kaboom. "National Junior College - GOLD" We all screamed like there's no tomorrow. I was so happy my heart was ready to burst. Then, we all secretly hoped for the next. TOP 5. We hardly dared to think of it, getting gold was enough. But, the glimmer of hope is there. instead of collasping, i did the next best thing. opened my floodgates. I cried. Yep. I juz couldn't help it when I heard NJCSB got into Top5. Hot tears sprang out of me as i jumped around hugging yunqi and all. It was the best feeling of all. The feeling that hard hard work has finally paid off. That all the late nights were worth it. I couldn't control myself. Haha was telling benson when we got news choir got top 5 that i'll cry if band got into top 5. i was juz jesting that time, since top 5 feels so distant. Never in my dreams did i expect it to turn out to be true. 3 times, the tears came. Crying in public, at anything, has nv happened to me. I wonder if my EQ has dropped. I always managed to control myself, but this time, it is just so abrupt and violent i'm surprised afterwards. cheered and all outside vch, at the fountains. gave a hug, and a warm handshake. tears still blinding me then. slowly i managed to calm myself. Yeah, and after much photo-taking, dillydallying, we walked to suntec again *groan* for dinner. Celebratory dinner! Yeah~! Haha. My feet's killing me though. The court shoes in the morning did their damage. Fish n Co for dinner. Was so tired then. Felt emotionally and physically drained. All sorts of emotions. was tired, normal, jittery, downright nervous, bored, elated, jubilant then tired again. in that order. I'm enjoying, luxuriating in the win. not gonna do any sch work. I'm going to have a nice rest, and i can't wait to go to sch tmr! Beatrice is treating me to Pocky! hahaha. yeah and NJCSB will show the rest of nJ(esp. pple who sniggers at our morning assembly) wat band is really made of. I'm so happy. Its the 2nd time i got a gold, and the first time in top 5! The feeling is the best. Shiok is the word. AHHH!!! FEeL like screaming. Congratulations congratulations! OH man. This is one of the best days of my life. -=SYF! BDAES!=-Tuesday, May 6, 2003 | 11:32 p.m. before the day is over, i'll just wanna wish winnie for the fourth time, HAppy Birthday Winnie! yeah, and oso to khalid, who's hatchday is tmr, HAppy Birthday Khalid! haha wat a whole load of stuff in 2 days. why? coz choir got gold, top 5 in SYF today! Congrats, huiying and theresa! Hahah.. puts pressure one Band! >.< so worried now.... tmr there's syf. But i'll be excited about it and hopefully i'll juz give my best shot and avoid any major screw-ups. no sch! oh yar and i better get to sleep soon or i'll be too tired to play tmr. Ahhhhhhhhhh~!!!!!!!!! -=shopaholic=-Sunday, May 4, 2003 | 07:24 p.m. i have like got 6 mins to blog before X-men shows on tv. !!! so gonna watch it. anyway, went heeren today! finally, some shopping! and, guess wat? i lurve sales! haha was so pleasantly surprised when all my items got 30% off.. saved quite a lot of money, bought quite a no. of things, totalling juz up to $17+! hee hee. got hw to do though. Groanz can't believe sunday is gonna be over. Monday, Tuesday, SYF! die die die. sux ya the stress. But, i can take it! *bright grin* dun worry i won't die. yeah.... life goes on, juz as exciting and sucky as before. Okok, gonna send over my proj. work. Our group rox! We got fab. idea for the "synergy" one. Or rather, joanne's idea. The ones who catch dreams, are those who are bold enough to dream them.Happy May Day! Yeah whole day slacking.... the weather is so nice and cooling. Then had gz lesson. Very frustrating. Ugh. Haha then i went to NTUC fairprice to buy some foodies coz i felt very snack-y. Bought Chilli Cha Cha! Missed that biscuit snack. Brings back memories of eating them in sn after recess in chinese lessons... sigh. anyway, its the weekend soon! Feel rejuvenated. Yeah. Fri, Sat and....SUN! i wanna go shopping....read on Life! that all the orchard shops are having sales up to 50%! Wonderful news. Haha but i'll have to see if i can drag myself out for shopping. Oh, and X2! out today. How's that for intensive practice? had a very enjoyable time having dinner with all the band peepz. Haha was laffing all along with the jokes made about conductors(and their style of conducting), bad teachers etc etc. i'm so tired now... reached home at 10.40. >.< LAbour Day! YesH! get to skip PE and Chinese. How lucky can i get. I desperately need the break. Finally. I will sleep late. *satisfied grin* trying out some new layouts. Those are fantastic. Don't feel like making. No time. |
