B-Day
look at the date above! doesn't it look special? haha yep yep today's B-Day. went to sch in the morning for lit lect and band after that. exempted from napfa, thank goodness. wanna say a big
Thank You! to all those who wished me a happy birthday today, and especially to pple like wing, ailin, maly and layz for the shirt that i always wanted and the highlighters that r soo special! love ya guys for such a totful prezzie. haha also to band peepz esp exco and music comm, pple like nicole, benson, PK zhu tou, da kong long, huifang, swee yan, shunyu zhu tou and everyone else! ah! i'm so touched! (puts finger on skin. touch.)
*beams* temporary breather at home b4 going to party l8tr. can't wait! haha damn cool can go legally now. hm mebbe i should sleep but i wanna watch ms congeniality. haha.
i'm happy but i always feel kinda wierd during bdaes. do you? its like a special date for you only when i prefer that its a special day for everyone. and you know you have passed the benchmark of a year's growth, know that you are supposed to have matured and r wise of the ways of the world. 18, especially, makes it a even more significant number for it means you are 3 years from being a proper adult. an adult, imagine. to shed our purile pinfeathers and learn to fly. then we'll have to act serious, wear boring clothes with dull colors and be responsible for yourself. argh i don't want to step into the adult world. it's too scary.

world's a stage
From a Beck's Beer Ad:
"You don't have to be posh to suck Beck."
yeah haha clever clever ad. mr whitby told us bout it during tutorial today. hot hot day. erms 4 more hours to the day i can watch Passion Of Christ (M18) haha. oh wells sch's alright. still thinking if i should drop econs. i'll have the weekend to think bout it. i'm 50/50. the only thing i'm hesitant about is if i'll regret the decision.. because i understand the theories; i just don't know how to apply them to essays. plus i can't imagine studying for such a subject.
lit s's enjoyable today. did more of honey-baked hamlet. suddenly felt v.thoughtful and appreciative of lit. it's like the only subject that allows you to get a scope of things/issues outside lesson. moral dilemna, society, life.. everything. essentially life's just about conflicts. that's why life's a stage. love the quote below. theme of moral subjectivity- discussed extensively in GP today too. if a person has to choose between sacrificing his v.expensive car which is his financial security (retirement) or letting a child in danger die, what should he do?
"For there is nothing either good or bad, thinking makes it so."
- William Shakespeare (1564-1616), Hamlet, II.ii

bossa-town
30 mins to AMI. haha can't wait for tonight's performances, though it does drag to 12. Motown's the theme. looking up the definition online, it is "is a style of soul music popularized in the late 1960s in the United States by a roster of artists signed to Motown Records. Distinctive characteristics are the use of tambourine along with a drum kit, Rhythm and blues instrumentation, and a 'call and response' singing style originating in gospel music. -
Wilkipedia" downloaded several motown hits on kazaa. i like the feel.
another genre of music- Bossa Nova. brazilian samba jazz. had a very upbeat feel bout it and its so distinctive and distinguished! first heard some of its funky tunes in That CD Shop at Pacific Plaza. haha. i love romantic oldies (yes, with is sweet cliches and cute background) and music with stylistic character(like bossa!). not new age stuff though they r too filled with angst, hatred and confusion. What the world needs is love!
singapore vs. japan is currently 1-1! haha can't believe singapore actually scored a goal. i heard there's pple who betted 9-0 in favour of japan. haha pple will be losing/making big bucks tonight! good luck to singapore~ yeah, they'll need it.
quite interested in religion these days. Donne's religious poems might have influence. the the movie, The Passion of Christ.. starts tmr. wondering if i should watch.
from scaryduck's alter-ego blog, robberrabbit.blogspot.com,
Things not to say during "The Passion of The Christ"
Sing "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" during the crucifixion scene
"It's only a flesh wound!"
"The People's Front of Judea? Splitters!"
"Hey! I can see my house from here."
"I know this story! The main character dies, right?"
"You know what this movie needs? A car chase! And maybe a bomb on a bus."
"Hate to burst your bubble guys, but that guy's not dark enough to be Jesus."
"Welease Bwian!!!!"
"Is the the scene where Jesus and Mary Magdelene get it on?"
"What are they saying? Why the hell can't they speak American?"
"Weren't there tanks last time I saw this? And a lot more singing?"

switchfoots
the benign spirit surfaced so i decided to blog. finally, the common tests r over- its just the results now :( but not to worry, my heart is still strong enough to withstand that. quite sad that unlike the sci students who get to enjoy 4 days *glares*, lit students only have like sat afternoon and sundays to be let out into the air-conditioned climate of merchanise n' retail. haha yep went shoppin today. finally get to walk the streets of orchard. and walk we did. me and wing literally combed the whole of taka and centre/orchard point etc etc. haha. love the S n K top we bought. wat a bargain. went around trying shoes. and guess what, i tried this stilleto that's like witchy-pointed (u noe, that type u can kick pple wif and it'll send that person to ER depart in SGH?) and covered with gold glitter. i could barely stand (think wobble) and it was so glittery we were almost blinded. my god its like the most unsuitable shoe on earth. who would buy that except ageing tai-tais with bad taste and loads of money? eeeks to them! those should be banned! haha was funny trying all the shoes.
read bout the Belle de Jour today. in case u din have (a) Life! (straits times), its a blog of someone who is supposedly a london call-girl aka prostitute who wins the annual guardian best blog award. knew bout the blog a few days b4 e article went out, via past guardian winner, scaryduck. i feel that scaryduck's writing r so much more enjoyable than the bland descriptions of the "jobs" that belle has to go to and stuff. i guess its just the novelty of a blogging prostitute that bags the award. pple juz couldn't connect between computers/technology/typing proper english with pros and it does provide a slightly diff. content from usual blogs plus all the mystery of the identity of the girl with her own mind bout her lovers- u get a winner. read bout views of her here.

sphere of influence
and the theme for today is
love.
went to sch bright and early today for lit exams. had 2 lit papers, shakespeare's measure for measure, john donne's metaphysical poetry and unseen prac. crit. m4m was reasonably do-able, donne's was totally expected but not studied in relation to ques, prac crit was challenging. and all these papers deals bout love! (cept m4m, which is bout justice, power, morality etc). 2 and a half hr writing about love.
on my way home, Savage Garden's Truly Madly Deeply played on the radio. Love, again. i would think the reason boy bands r so successful is that most of them sing about love. then i wondered if true, eternal and perfect love does exist at all. As i've written in my The Sunne paper, love is when a couple is able to create their own world and contain the world's riches, because they are alone and together in perfect unity of body and soul. Is that such a thing, for in prac crit we r told to compare and contrast 2 poems. the 2nd poem was exceptionally striking. One line stood out "The moment I swear to love a woman, a certain woman, all my life / That moment I begin to hate her." full of cynicism and acute sensitivity. very true too.
P.S: Here's googlism's take on takeko:
takeko is the perfect independent woman
takeko is 19 years
takeko is an anagram for koume and kotake
takeko is remembered through her cenotaph that proudly stands in kozashi
takeko is holding a "girl's day" display which she gave to yoshiko
takeko is researching ways to combat the taint which affects the daughter of yoritomo
takeko is up to the challenge

mexican jumpin' bin
4 papers down, 3 to go! yeah! 3 subjects down, 1 more to go! yeah! 3 more days to the end hurrah! haha. mad.
and now, back to the common tests. haha today was geog and lit. think phy geog was alright. i won't do as well for h.geog this time though. i screwed up maths.. in a minor way compared to last yr's promos (all i did was write the ques on the foolscap and skip). at least i think i might have a hope of passing. haha. dunno why but feeling so light now.. left with lit and 1 day to do intensive mugging. arg(z) if u r a science student or u've dropped lit, dun tell me how u r gonna spend ur thurs, fri and sat ok?
had nice dinner with fried beef.. erm ya and had almond jelly made with konnyaku powder cos my maid put wrongly. surprisingly its v.v.nice haha hence my heightened contentment now. american idol later too! latoya! yeah. oh ya i think the other non-white female singer's looks retarded and ain't that comparable. haha shan't name fantastical names.
i realised i like to eat when i try to study. exams are bad- to my health! stayed up till like 1.30 am last night to read Green Revolution which din even come out la. then today i got a band of red veins in my eyes. bloodshot with a pattern. dun care gonna sleep till 11 tmr. wuahaha. there's only2 texts 2 poems and 1 unseen paper to prepare. No big deal. HA!
P.S. notice the huge hoohaa on the chinese lang in s'pore's education these days? my stand: JC AO Chinese is plain crap and if pple want to drop chinese, why not. i strongly believe that if a child has interest and ability in it, they would want to continue. no point forcing. and another point: chinese lessons r dead boring though i believe it has the potential not to be. its juz our sys. that's screwed.

You are the chinese element of Water. People who are under the element of Water are creative, independent and intelligent. Water you are a dreamer, but are quite vulnerable, and have hidden agendas. The color of water is black, and your symbol is the tortoise. Winter is the season in which Water shines and it's months are October/November. Your weather condition is cold. Water is the direction of north, and your day is Wednesday, while your planet is Mercury. Animals under your element are usually shelled. People under you are Turks. Your sense is hearing, your taste is salty, your sound is moaning and your virtue is knowledge. Your organs are the kidneys. You were created by Metal and control Fire.

shoutouts to
jm, zq, phil and rux! yeah u guys rock, and do actually respond to my posts! i'm honoured and feeling all warm inside :D haha. to the rest of the buggers who din drop me a tag u still have the chance to do so before i condemn u forever. haha. anywae, i don't know why the hell i am online now, there's a econs test exactly 2 hrs later. i was seriously contemplating to drop econs yesterday late in the night as i read the notes that don't make any bloody sense. i was questioning myself on why i am taking this subject when i wasn't even interested in it? ah i seriously wanna drop.
GP yesterday was alright, but not too good. Did the ques of "Why travel?" for my essay.. it turned out to sound like a geog essay and i wrote that pilgrimage of muslims was to the Mesa instead of Mecca. hah. in case u din noe, mesa is actually a landform.. a flat-topped land. yep.. and thru out the essay i talked bout like pastoral and nomadic pple.. refugees.. all straight out of the human geog context. damn. haha i hope they give me marks for inter-disciplinary application.
erm, is it too early for a countdown? 3 papers + 3 lit sub papers before i'm done. woohoo.

hi blog, i'm online again! reading all the blogs, apparently i have nothing to do. can't figure out how some pple have so much to write in their blogs. i just can't do that nowadays. its like trying to squeeze the lime dry or something. unless, of course, i can post an entry describing my life right down to the nitty-gritty details. but i figured nobody would want to know and i couldn't be bothered to post such disgraces online for the public eye yeah. so i thought i'll keep my posts relatively short, interesting and digestible. there you go, i'm having a mental block already. it is always like this. i aim to type a reasonable paragraph, but once i stop i'll be like desperately trying to think of things to write. then wat is the point in spontaneous thought and the creativity that comes along with it? alas, the short-lived bubble of ingeniuity flitted through my mind too quickly to capture. look thru my previous posts and realise the incapability of this blogger to actually blog. i really have nothing much to say.
haha ironic how that relatively long paragraph above is about having nothing to write? i'm writing a long paragraph about having nothing to put in long paragraphs. it just goes in circles. haha. do drop me a line/tag/comment on my gbook/comment box to tell me you actually do read my stuff? greatly appreciate that :D

drawn out torture
i hate it when schools conscientiously arrange tests after holidays, like it is the most natural thing on earth. well, thank you very much, but i would like to
enjoy and believe in holidays instead of treating them as days-stuck-at-home-thinking-about-how-i-should-be-mugging-instead-of-loitering-around. it doesn't help too that half the world is not studying and seemed to be so weight-free while we should watch them with envious eyes that are supposed to be looking at miniscule words that do not make sense.
Set your targets? Focus and you will succeed. -Yew Loong LEE/MOE, Mrs Cheng
arrgh. can you imagine how horrible it is to be woken up on a lazy morning by a sms like that? feels as if i've got invisible surveillance on me. The Big Brother is watching. A huge pang of guilt was served right up to my gut after that sms but i sublimely ignored it, thinking the holidays are still long. alright. i've still got one more day. 1 more bloody day to waste.

shake it like a polaroid picture
The possibility for sin comes from freedom. God created the angels and human beings as morally free creatures, who could choose right and wrong.
where does sin come from? even as an atheist i got the answer correct. haha interesting conversation. i believe, if there is a God, the worst and best gift he ever bestowed upon His creation would be Freedom.
jaded and cynical. my mind seemed cruel to everything around me, and tired of the shitmitz i have to go through. its like shaking a ball of brain in a container. i seem to own split personalities. Alexis loves to be busy, be active and have fun around pple. however, Alexis loves to be peacefully occupied and alone with herself and indulge in her fav. hobbies. i can't seem to decide which is the real me, hence the identity crisis.
aiyah. damn it la. i'll juz get on wif my day as best as i could.

ah die everyone around me is muggin'. i feel as if i'm the last person on this earth that has yet to touch the notes. am planning to do a bit of work tonight? ha but my eyes r so pain now. went for band today, can't blame me for wasting my time. slept till 11 though and was awaken by the funeral band below my block.
latest update on my monitor screen, i found out the term for such a condition is Pincushion Distortion and the screen is warped due to perhaps the CRT electrons being screwed up or disturbed by magnetic forces i.e. the speakers. but since i have em by the monitor all the time i still can't figure how come its spoiled. damn.
the hols r halfway over. ><

hairy nice
hey blog! my monitor is screwed uP! *whines* the knob for the widening/contracting of the screen display juz keeps turning and turning while the screen stays fat. its so fat i can't see my taskbar already. :( the moniter'll have to go, thats an inevitability but it might have to remain as a temporal inconvenience till the kingdom comes. my parents will be glad the monitor is spoilt, i bet. they would wish it to go up in smoke and explode or something. damn.
gave last night's party a miss cos couldn't find anyone to go wit me. :( today's one too. haiz i wanna go! its raining now, as usual :) oh ya, in case you din noe, I cut my hair *thunder lightning* haha. yep its quite shaggy now. i look shagged.. and funky. haha that needs an attitude to go along wif it.. can i carry it off? i hope. anywae spent the whole of ytd at the salon chatting to rux while she rebonded her hair. the haircut's ex but heck, as long as i feel gd rite. took neoprints too. hair day yay 14.03.04. haha.
so, today's monday. yep. start of the wk already! *panics* guess what. today morning lit lect, later gz lesson. tmr lit lect, tuition. wed band. thurs tuition. fri sentosa, OG dinner. sat NIE concert. thank god(ironically) i din have any religious obligation to go to church or my sun will be gone too. The ques is, how to mug?!? my whole week is almost gone. oh wells. things will juz sort itself out i guess.
2 hrs to burn now. was laffing at silly wing's jokes at KAP after lit lect. lol funny gal. her "You're pretty" one's good. lolz. oh wells i couldn't think of any so i went and found one in the jokeaday site. here goes:
Little Amy confided to her uncle, "When I grow up I’m going to marry the boy next door."
"Why is that?"
"Cause I’m not allowed to cross the road."

love hater
it rained buckets just now, when me rux wen were on our way home from the NUS Open House. firstly, huge droplets start pelting the bus.. the sun was still setting, so the whole surrounding was orangey. then it turned muddy orange like its raining mud, the visibility on the bus was so poor. got off the stuffy bus and experienced a sepia toned rain which is followed shortly by the coral rain. yeah. good ol' rain din last long enough though its back to normal ol' singapore now. haha not the thunder-lightning-per-3-sec mode. sigh.
ya, the open house. din like it too much.. my impression's that the NUS buildings r so ancient.. i guess that finally tore the sparkly high tech university buildings i had in mind bout NUS. and i have not a single idea wat fac to join, provided that i do make it. ha. wateva lah. however, did see loads of pretty/handsome pple today so it's not so bad. and the girl who brought us around Temasek Hall was sweet. communal living looks fun.

one more day before the weekend, and the hols! yeap *gives myself a pat on the back for surviving* haha its so fast, 3 months already.
i like don marquis. found a poem on one of the desks in my GP class and its by him, hence the interest. he has a quirky wit in his writing and his archy persona is ingenious. go see his maxims. hear hear! haha. anyway today's weather is nice and cool, almost like outdoor air conditioning. this coming week is gonna be a bz one.. going for CLDDs production tmr or sat evening.. going NUS open house after band on sat.. sun got party deciding whether to go or not. there's another party on mon. that i prob can't make it.. tues got lit remedial in the morn and maths tuition. phew. then i get a break on wed followed by another round of maths tuition on thurs. and i'm expected to pass my common tests.

raindrops on my head
it's been raining the whole day! yes, one whole glorious day with the pelting rain from the gray gray sky. did i tell you i absolutely adore rain that brings about such temperate and wind? haha its so relaxing and soothing. makes me feel lazy.. hm econs tys waiting on its hunches for me to pet it though. GP essay too.. maths tutorials.. hm i shall take things slowly. anyway its only 9, the night is still very young!
i wish the rain will continue deep into the night. i love to wake up all snuggled and warm.. and hate having to leave the bed and walk on the icy floor. haha. the way the rain makes the splashing din on the balcony plus the quiet hum of the distant rain.. hm and the cool breeze that invigorates you.. delicious. i don't care if the whole city floods, just rain! :)

memorabilia
it's exactly 24 hrs prior to previous post and there's sch today (technically, a monday). yups getting less than 4 hrs of sleep is not very good ya? haha spent the whole day rotting, despite plans to mUg. proud of a tiny achievement though, i managed to clear the junk on my desk- at least, the left side of it before i went to watch Erin Brockovich. julia robert's legs r damn long and she's determined to flaunt it.
my desk looks so neat now, i can't bear to put stuff on it. threw away loads of pens that just dried up and wiped up the dust.. there's a lot of stuff that i juz repacked and kept somewhere else.. junk that a 17 yr old doesn't need but still keeps for old times sake. those "junk" range from badges.. to old sovenirs made in sec 2..and letters from angel/mortals.. i'll just stuff 'em somewhere till the next time i clear the table and get surprised by its existence all over again. ah well, a light night shower made the temperature pleasant and sleep inducing. nights pple!

You've Got Served
woohoo~! changed my template again at 2 am in the morning. Vertical Horizon's
Best I've Ever Had emanating from my speakers. why this template? cos some pple couldn't see my cool pink one.. and cos this template looks much better than the film itself. haha i couldn't understand the movie actually, i was Lost too. yeah felt that it was too claustrophobic for me and my puny brain.. it went on to win Best Writing i think, for the Oscars. anyway the girl's pretty.
my nose is still leaking. bleh the amt of fluid my body can produce. gonna do some work tmr! haha. oh and continue watching Green Mile that my sis borrowed. its a stark film filled with melancholic reflections.. v.sad. there r so many films out there now that i wanna catch.. Big Fish, Honey and Dirty Dancing 2.. i noe there's a movie in the states called You've Got Served which looks good too.. yeah.
yeah got an A2 for my AO chinese with added dist for oral! finally man! my chinese can make it ok! haha yuppies i'm happy wif it. oh and guess wat i got for my maths test? haha its the most tyco event of the century.. even i have to admit its tyco. tuition does help though, so my 200 bux per month is not wasted.. :)
