chalets

hey how come we never did have a class chaleT? makes me so envious reading rux's blog. seems like they had a great time! haha cannot, our class oso must have. mebbe its time to put the Arts Fac. chalet/party/bbq plan into action man. speaking of chalets, juz came back from my cousins' chalet at changi loyang. its great! haha at first i got some apprehension bout going there alone and knowing only my cousins but in the end everyone was so friendly and open we r friends after eating a satay or two.

was embarrassingly late.. wanted to make it when the bbq starts but in the end turned up at round 10 and the cake was cut.. but still it was generally fun wif all the lame jokes and stuff when we r slacking at the living room. the chalet was big too, compared to the puny NTUC ones that r unfit for more than 4 pple.. went past the Old Changi Hospital on the way. haha heard enuff stories bout it too look at the old building wif awe and reverance.

slept at around 4. haha was playing daidee wif diana's friends. ermz was quite cold in the room so i din sleep much. woke up at round 6 to go downstairs and stone. hahaz. too bad there's no beach and such. they actually wanted to go Changi Village to see ah guas but in e end nv go..

again, on the subject of chalets, atsb chalet coming uP! can't wait man. we nv had chalets before. yaaay! atsb peepz reading this, make 18-21 dec free ya?

Corporate Lesson 1
A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower when the doorbell rings. After a few seconds of arguing over which one should go and answer the doorbell, the wife gives up, quickly wraps herself up in a towel and runs downstairs. When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next-door neighbor. Before she says a word, Bob says, "I'll give you $800 to drop that towel that you have on" After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked in front of Bob. After a few seconds, Bob hands her 800 dollars and leaves. Confused, but excited about her good fortune, the woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs. When she gets back to the bathroom, her husband asks from the shower, "Who was that?" "It was Bob the next door neighbor," she replies. "Great!" the husband says, "Did he say anything about the $800 he owes me?"

Moral of the story: If you share critical information pertaining to credit and risk in time with your stakeholders, you may be in a position to prevent avoidable exposure.

Corporate Lesson 2
A priest was driving along and saw a nun on the side of the road, he stopped and offered her a lift, which she accepted. She got in and crossed her legs, forcing her gown to open and reveal a lovely leg. The priest had a look and nearly had an accident. After controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand up her leg. The nun looked at him and immediately said, "Father, remember Psalm 129?" The priest was flustered and apologized profusely. He forced himself to remove his hand. Changing gear, he let his hand slide up her leg again. The nun once again said, "Father, remember Psalm 129?" Once again the priest apologized "Sorry sister but the flesh is weak." Arriving at the convent, the nun got out gave him a meaningful glance and went on her way. On his arrival at the church, the priest rushed to retrieve a bible and looked up Psalm 129. It Said, "Go forth and seek, further up, you will find glory."

Moral of the story: Always be well informed in your job, or you might miss a great opportunity.

Corporate Lesson 3
A sales rep, an administration clerk and the manager are walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp. They rub it and a Genie comes out in a puff of smoke. The Genie says, "I usually only grant three wishes, so I'll give each of you just one." "Me first! Me first!" says the admin clerk. "I want to be in the Bahamas, driving a speedboat, without a care in the world." Poof! She's gone. In astonishment, "Me next! Me next!" says the sales rep. "I want to be in Hawaii, relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an Endless supply of pina coladas and the love of my life." Poof! He's gone. "OK, you're up," the Genie says to the manager. The manager says, "I want those two back in the office after lunch."

Moral of the story: Always let your boss have the first say.

Corporate Lesson 4
A crow was sitting on a tree, doing nothing all day. A small rabbit saw the crow, and asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing all day long?" The crow answered: "Sure, why not." So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the crow, and rested. All of a sudden a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Moral of the story: To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.

Corporate Lesson 5
A turkey was chatting with a bull. "I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree," sighed the turkey, but I haven't got the energy." "Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?" replied the bull. "They're packed with nutrients." The turkey pecked at a lump of dung and found that it actually gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally after a fourth night, there he was proudly perched at the top of the tree. Soon he was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot the turkey out of the tree.

Moral of the story: Bullshit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.

Corporate Lesson 6
A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold the bird froze and fell to the ground in a large field. While it was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on it. As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, it began to realize how warm it was. The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy. A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.

Moral of the story:
1) Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy.
2) Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend.
3) And when you're in deep shit, it's best to keep your mouth shut!

After Promos Bliss(AFB)! haha. though it is sometimes spoiled by the Post Examination Crap (PEC) but still...

hanging in suspense for your results is no fun at all though. :(

PW sucks too. so much meaningless stuff to do- all for a stupid grade which i doubt will contribute much to any greater good except for the gratification of MOE pple who have too much time on their hands. ugh.

nonsense

sometimes the world just sux. get what i mean? i wanna fling myself onto a giant bed and cry for eternity, yet the next moment i want to laugh till i suffocate.

Give me rainbow give me joy, numb me with a big
anesthetiser with sorrow-filled alloy.
Gallop like a horse you fool
or you will just suffer and cry a pool
of tears that wash the heart clean and dry
in that crystal pond it lie.
wth, go and die.

why are you staring at me like that? i'm just making sense out of a world where sense does not make sense.

lexicon

sigh wat the hell man. damn sad. loads of things happening that is really quite out of our puny control. Like, the future? stuff that is yours seemed to be manipulated, ordered or controlled by others. it is my dream to be able to live a life where i can have no worries whether i will be able to get a stable job in Singapore and do whatever i fancy. that, will be the perfect life. that's what mr. barber asked the class today- "wat will ur perfect life be?" in that sense i'll be able to have the guts to try out everything, and finally maybe decide and settle on a career that i enjoy.

realised that many of my so-called friends are actually mere acquaintances. how many do i really know well? how many do i really care for and think of? its sad to think that after so much stuff, "friends" forsake u in their own misery and stuff in their life. In the end, there's nothing left.

had quite a ok dae, captain's ball was fun. haha i think i'm good at being the one standing on the chair. i passed my AO chinese. i got 22/30 for my econs mcq. hm. i think i'll do quite ok for human geog. phy geog i really no idea. maths i think i fail. (52% passes in our class). so i'm not banking on econs to save me. (haha pun intended), nor maths. hoping lit will not be as bad.

life is like a horse. let loose of the reins, and gallop freely and dangerously. control the reins, and slow down to a steady but dull trot.

lovely day

decide to revisit this lovely design again. dun worry, woofme design will be back. haha todae's a near perfect day IMO! went to sch bright and early for the morning assembly before deciding to ponteng wif the rest of the class' girls cos we all dun wan to do the Games fest capt' ball. haha. so there we r, 6 girls that took a bus ride to Bugis and had a nice BK breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon/sausage/ham, hash brown, milo and bread. david blaine and black magic was the subject of our conversation. got to know more bout it thru maly. its really quite spooky to think of it.

stepped out into the warm sunshine after that to walk around in bugis parco. OP on sale! topshop clearance! new fall collection! omg. these words are enuff to make any girl happy- if she has the dough that is. went sasa and i bought my mascara i'm eyeing on for sometime (no pun intended!). hehe then went to bugis village. loads of stuff. beat says it reminded her of China wif all the stuffy heat, huge array of things and throngs of people. i bought a watch! damn damn nice. haha mebbe i'll scan the watch and post it here. i love funky watches. i have no interest of those you can buckle and strap. haha, all thanks to ailin i got the watchie at 8 bux instead of 10! the power of haggle-ing!

went home after that. the sky's undecided between rain or shine, but the blustery wind and warm sunshine is good enuff for me. hahaz so now i'm slacking at home, checking out yahoo auctions, eating lunch... ah, this is life.

deluge

i got off the bus right at the moment when the heavens decided to unleash the greatest thunderstorm. the sky was spitting and the raindrops slashed down the sky with merciless grace, landing forcefully on the earth as if it wanted to die in a million splatters. i jumped down the bus and stood at the epicentre of the bus stop, seeking the eye of the hurricane as mists of water flew in all directions. i faced my back against the wind, feeling it pushing me with its biting cold. in a few seconds, my black bag was shiny with wet. i gaped at the sopping bag with despair, then turned round resolutely and refused to let the rain get me.

thoughts of walking out in the pelting rain tempted me like never before. i almost wanted to dash out when i realized my electronic devices will be spoiled. so there i was, unable to move, staring forlornly out at the buckets of rain. Thunder in flashes of bright pink and purple appeared and disapppeared in a split second followed by a crash that strikes a deep chord in my heart. i remember a very apt description in Enid Blyton's book- thunder sounds like wardrobes rolling down the stairs. well, its true! for the distant ones that is. the nearer ones are scary.

craving for kenny roger's macaroni and cheese now. be satisfied, alexis, u juz had triple scoop Venezia ice cream. Tarfuto, raspberry and rum n raisins with 2 sweet girls for company!

paracetamol

lexis
n: all of the words in a language; all word forms having meaning or grammatical function.

hey isn't that cool? i'm a lexis! hahaha. yeah, tmr's nj open house. i better go sleep after this blog. had to report at 8.30! today's weather is so hot, i have headache for most part of the day.

I started on Amy Tan's Joy Luck Club. yeah, i lagging but finally got round to reading the collection of short stories that revolve round the lives of 8 women. it has the style of catherine lim but more americanised. not bad, i wanted to continue reading but the incessant pounding of my head coupled with the awful heat made it impossible. took paracetamol but to no avail, the dull ache did not really abate completely. it was only when i went into the air conditioned room that my headache subside.

found a great quote. wonder if if i'll age gracefully? if so, it will be by the grace of God :)

Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art. -Anonymous

creative calcium

i've just archived, so everything's empty. the missing pics made my page look ugly as sin. I guess u'll have to wait a while for the image server to come back. planning to pon tmr. haha. i seriously need sleep, and the need is no less when i was studying for exams! strange, i thought i'll get more sleep after exams. ha. oh well, friday's deepavali! yaay!

i walked down the stairs from the lift, and a painting greeted my weary sight. it was a scenery painted in lush green and hard concrete, framed by the walls of the 11th floor HDB balcony. the air was as still as vacuum and vibrant colours jumped out of the frame like a Van Gogh painting. the sticks of buildings far off set in the cottony plush of bishan park had a far away, unrealistic look as the sun sharpened edges and gave a hard hue to the land below.

i finished the Virgin Suicides i borrowed from the library. it is a good book, though there is not much plot, just the examination of the death and cause of the suicides of 5 girls. It reminded me of Boo Radley. i feel sorry for the girls, and though in the end there is no conclusion for the reason why the girls committed suicide i think it is cos of the parents, behaving much like the Radleys by locking the girls up. Interested? read that book for yourself. wanna borrow Plath's The Bell Jar. read the first chap while doing PW and was extremely curious for the rest. Her movie, Sylvia by Gwyneth Paltrow's coming out!

2 bodies bent in supplication, their heads bowed and almost touching the floor as they vowed to god for their souls to be intertwined together. In their hearts, there is an feeling they cannot describe as the cold frost of the night and the red paper confetti surrounded them. Heaven, witness their love.

yesterday there's this 3-person play about Love, Lust and Infatuation. I think i'm infatuated with the guy who acted in that play!!! he's damn shuai4. i'm not kidding, he's the shuai-est guy that i've ever seen! omg after that i was like swooning... sigh damn sad cos i cannot see such delicious eye candy after the play end!!!
