Deepest Sympathies

Oh, Alison, I'm so sorry. *hugs*

Of Course

See which Greek Goddess you are.

Of course. Hestia is my gal! I'm such a homebody anyway. Of course, I'm nowhere near as nice as she is!

Thank you all for the wonderful birthday greetings! I usually get really depressed on my birthday (and this one was no different), but your greetings made me smile. Especially Ammie's sheep! Only from a New Zealander!

I managed to watch the Berserk anime series (fansubbed). Check the FAQ on this site for more info. Oh, I think I'm in love! What a great story! And because of my birthday, I got to order the manga! So, hopefully in a couple of weeks, I'll be able to see the full story. Being seinen manga, it's be harsher than I'm used to, but the few scans I've seen of the manga shows the art to be of high quality. But I have been warned how disturbing this series can be. Sats-chan, this one might actually appeal to you (at least, I'm pretty sure the anime will), especially the relationship between Gatts and Griffith. (Now I'll get flamed by all the homophobic Berserk fanboys out there! Honestly, I liked Gatts/Caska much better! But you'd have to be blind to miss the slash potential from Gatts/Griffith!) This is another good site about Berserk, which actually has some good commentary about those relationships.

Actually made some progress on the "Wings of Desire" sequel (working title "Until the End of the World"), probably because I've been so inspired by Berserk. Which may make the ending a little strange. At least, the beginning is starting out weird...

Alison, your point about Subaru is well taken, although I believe Subby has changed somewhat. I think Kamui struck a chord with him, but not strongly enough to counter his tragic past, hence the leap from the window and his retreat to Sakurazuka's garden. The true test will be when he meets Kamui again, I think. *sighs* And I have NO idea what'll happen! Can't wait!

But before that, dammit, they need some Kusanagi scenes, preferably with Yuzuriha!!! It's been, what, two years now? Sheesh! Oh, yeah, Kerianne about TV X 14, yes, the Aoki/Karen intro scene is intact. After the dragons introduce themselves, Karen mentions that she met Aoki before. He looks embarrassed and says hello. Sorata asks where they know each other from, and she says her work, which gets a gasp from Sorata and a quick explanation from Aoki. The DOEs also gather, with Kusanagi looking like he's rather be anywhere else but there. I'm still not sure why they've cut all the scenes that show him using any kind of power...but I am hoping that will change with TV X 18 (date with Yuzu? YES!)

Enough for now. Got a whiny kitty (Lily) needing some attention.

Catching up

Well, the cat show was a lot of fun, and I DID get to see a Somali. Wow. Gonna have to get one of those someday. Although the cats could tell when we got home that we had been around other cats, and they were NOT happy. Jealous little critters, ain't they?

We also went window-shopping in the mall there (Dubuque's mall is extremely tiny). Did you know that Steve Irwin action figures actually exist?! Now, don't get me wrong, I love the show, but that was a bit of a shock.

Picked up the latest Rurouni Kenshin DVD--it's the last part of the Kyoto arc. And Yes! More Cho goodness! Although, I have to say, the guy doing the dub for him is really straining on the accent. As much as I'm enjoying the Kenshin dub, I still feel the need to switch over to the Japanese for my man Cho's dialogues.

Also on the DVD was a preview for Berserk, which looks really intriguing (and DAMN! What a soundtrack!). I had heard about the series before, but this was the first time I actually saw part of the anime. The manga looks intriguing as well, although I'm not sure I could stomach the frequent rape scenes. In a way, this reminds me of Flesh + Blood, a rather harsh (but excellent) movie starring the wonderful Rutger Hauer. But, knowing me, I will succumb to temptation and eventually pick this series up.

I haven't gotten anything in the way of writing done this week, as I have been feeling rather out-of-sorts. I blame it on the upcoming birthday.

Alison, gosh, what can I say? I'm so sorry about Misha! *hugs nearest cat, this time Hickory* Don't worry about the silly Asuka thing. YOU'RE much more important and I know you must be feeling awful.

Lika, I got the calender! Ohmigod! That was sooooo sweet! Thank you! Wow! Oh, btw, the episodes ARE in the mail to you--took me a few days to track down a mailer-thingy to send them in. But I sent it off Monday, so unless it gets stuck in customs or something weird, you should have it by next week.

More social blogging later...must have breakfast now.

On the Road Again
We're heading off to Moline for a cat show today. Should be fun. I'm hoping to see a Somali today. A cat that looks like a fox! How can you lose?

Speaking of cats: Alison, what's the latest on Misha?

New link: Remalna Marguerite, a very nice gal, despite a frightening attachment to pairing Kamui and Yuzuriha. (!) And yes, CLAMP does seem intent on wrapping up their boys, except Kusanagi, who gets a well-armed pelican instead. Showing, of course, that it takes a REAL MAN to deal with pelicans. ;-D

Kristin, "A Fearsome Business" is looking very well and up to your usual high standards. There's a realistic tension in there between S&R that I'm liking a lot. I wonder where Remus gets his money, though? Even living at his sister's place, he'd still have expenses? But, love it muchly, am looking forward to more. Ya'll, do yourselves a favor and check it out at The Happy Valley Puppy Farm

Hey, how's "Broken Wings" pt 3 coming along? Or are you busy holding your breath for the next Asuka installment? ;-D Poor chica. I hope Aoki makes it through!

Lika, one of the things that Americans are most despised for is our arrogance regarding other cultures (I'm not sure if this applies to Canadians or not?). We think we know what's best for all the world, and, as you correctly pointed out, sometimes that doesn't amount to much!

This scared Bob. I thought it was kind of funny, myself.

*glomps Sats-chan* Blog more! I'm missing your wit!

Well, breakfast awaits!

Back in Black

Aaaaand, we're back to the original design. Mediacom is switching over their network from excite@home.com to AT&T, which means I lose access to some of the graphics I had stored on the webspace there (Sedition is still okay, that was on Geocities). My primary email addresses will also be changing within the next couple of weeks, but the autumnriver one will still be good. Luckily, I still had this one stored on one of Bob's pages. I wanted to play a bit and do something really different, but I'll wait til the changeover is complete, and until we can get our scanner working again.
