Rant-o-Rama, the Sequel
I haven't been up to ficcing much this week. *Bitch-slaps Muse* But I am, somehow, in the mood to rant. SO RANT I SHALL:

1. I had the most uncomfortable afternoon at work today. One gal who sits near me is pregnant with her second child. The gal behind me is a single mother of a four year old. The gal across from me has a six year old and is trying like crazy for another kid. I don't have a problem with any of that. But today, they went into this bizarre conversation about labor and ceasarian sections and after-birth procedures that was just grossning to listen to. They went on for nearly 45 minutes before the subject of foreceps and vaginal folds came up and I had to request they stop for the sake of my heaving stomach. (Note: during this conversation, I was quietly working at my desk, basically trying to ignore them.) Now, I get to listen to a LOT of "labor" conversations. That's because although we have no children (and don't plan to have any), women assume that I must be somehow longing for progeny and will some day bring forth spawn of my own. This is not the case. Don't want none, got it? Anyway, if these women want to dish about their birth processes, that's all fine, but PLEASE don't do it at work.

2. Watched X 5 today. Yuzuriha is just darling. But her scene with Kusanagi was just too SHORT! What happened to the ice cream and the long talk about him hearing trees? It seemed to me that they almost played the scene for humor, with her glomping him then running off and waving back at him. He waves, too, with a certain "And what the HELL was THAT?" look on his face. *gloom* They'd better include their romance in the anime! I will be quite VEXED if they do not!

3. Boring and Proud, yes that's me. Like Lika and Ammie (sorry, not in the mood to play with links tonight), I, too, did not party (much). I did do my share of drinking in college, with a close group of friends who could be trusted not to take advantage when I was three-sheets to the wind, but those days are long gone. I also did my share of dating ^^;, but that wasn't until AFTER college, because, honestly, I didn't have the time to date in college or high school. I did *ahem* go a little wild, then, but I don't regret it. Fortunately, my husband find that amusing (he's not starched up like some men). Drinking and partying are rather overrated. Yeah, some people really like it, but if you're not the sort who likes parties and drinking, why force yourself? If what you enjoy is a quiet evening with a good book, then indulge yourself and be happy! Screw what other people think!

4. If I seem a little short if ya'll are chatting with me, please disregard. I'm feeling kind of down this week. It would be so nice just to take a week and do nothing but sleep. Unfortunately, that's not going to happen. My fic writing has been dismal lately, the kind where you spend hours on a couple of paragraphs, then trash them because they suck. Why can't it be easy? The stories are THERE, in my head, and I want to write them so badly my fingers itch, but I sit down at the keyboard and...nothing. (But crap, that is). *whimpers*

Well, enough whining. I'm going to bed. Rarrr.

Skip
Got home today, and there was a message on the phone. Turns out our friend Karen's husband, Skip, died suddenly today of a heart attack. I think he was maybe 38 (around Bob's age). Skip was a neat guy. He was a professional musician and although he had some bad luck in life, he lived his to the fullest and did what he wanted to do. We should all live life that way, ne?

Pennies from Heaven
Got unexpected windfall from old house that we weren't expecting. Niiiiiiice. Stashed away most of it, but kept enough to get winter coats, DVDs and some books. Also, looks like the insurance WILL cover busted pipe. That's a relief, I tell you!

Also got nice package of manga! A series called Sensei! which looks to be about a teacher/student relationship. I first saw a translation on Kristin's site, and was intrigued, so ordered some volumes. The art is cute (kinda reminds me of Mick Nekoi's, except the hands and figures are a bit elongated) and the story looks to be interesting, from the pictures. Why, I ask you, is it that the closest school to teach Japanese is almost 2 hours away??? *whimpers*

Sweetie, PLEASE do not pick up smoking. It is a very, very nasty habit. And expensive, in the long run. /end lecture. And that package I sent you better arrive soon...I sent it on Halloween, it should be there by now, dang it! Oh, and my favorite Alan Rickman role was in Sense and Sensibility. Oh, that scene where he walks in and watches Kate Winslet playing the piano and singing....! *dokidoki* I'm such a romantic. I LOVE that he's playing Snape!

Lika-hon, you were right. Snape is quickly becoming a favorite. There's a fanfic gnawing at my brain for him right now. However, I've got other irons in the fire at the moment. Yes, including that oneshot I keep teasing you and Kerianne about.

Oh! You're so mean! Here I sing this great song for you and everything! Of course, the strangest idea occurred to me at work today (which just tells you how boring my job is): X in Grease!

Kusa: Summer lovin', Had me a blast!
Yuzu: Summer lovin', Happened so fast!
Kusa: Met a dog, and a cutie!
Yuzu: Met a guy, who listens to trees!
K & Y: Summer sun, somethings begun, but ah, oh those ice cream cones!
DOH: Tell me more, tell me more: Was it love at first sight?
DOE: Tell me more, tell me more: Did she put up a fight?
*Doo-wop sounds*

Errrrr...maybe not. *sweatdrops*

Someone that I don't really know wrote me to ask if I ever write lemons. Jeez, what a question. The answer is no, I've never really written a lemon, although I don't mind reading them. I'm afraid if I wrote a lemon, my readers wouldn't respect me in the morning. Although, every now and then, a PWP bit of naughtiness pops in my brain and I'm tempted. So now you know.

Can't believe it's almost Thanksgiving!!! And we're staying home this time, so four day weekend without messy family obligations looms ahead. Yes!!! I definitely want to get some writing done, provided I can tear myself away from this Harry Potter obsession thats taken hold of me. We'll see.

Now why the heck do I title these things?
Another short entry, as I am dealing with stress. The draining pipe from the upstairs bathroom cracked last Sunday, and it's been back and forth between the plumber and the insurance co (we got insurance to cover this sort of thing when we bought the house), and it's Friday and no one can tell us if the damn thing is covered or not. The policy says it is, but the insurance company is trying to worm their way out of it. If it's covered, we pay $60.00. If not, it'll probably be around $1000.00. And now, no one can tell me anything until Monday.

I try to keep telling myself that this is just a small thing and I shouldn't freak out. Small things really bother me, though. I just get worked up like I'm going to cry and then end up shaking like a leaf, because I feel so much at once.

I wanted to write tonight (I need to write!) But I'm so fried that I just have to be passive for a bit. Think I'll read some more Harry Potter. Lika, you were right. I'm really getting into Snape, he's got potential, he does. Although Sirius does have possibilities. And I just love Ron to death, he's so...well, just like a young teenage boy would be.

So this wasn't so short. ;-D

Ask and Ye shall Receive
Well, kinda. For those of you who've asked, I don't really have any of my works archived (although I stick things on fanfiction.net from time to time, lately, it won't let me sign in...). However, I have uploaded all my X fics to what will one day become my fanfiction page: Sedition. Yes, it's just a glorified directory. That's because I never got around to doing a front page for the blasted thing. Hope it suffices.

More blog at a later time: I'm having a rough day.

Cone Kitty
Picked up Hickory from the vet after work today. She kept messing with her sutures, so I had to cone her. I guess the cone so annoys her that she forgets that her sutures itch...or something like that. Poor kitty!

Angel of Music, and shoot, I was going to sing more here, but it's been too long since I've listened to Phantom. However, there's always Disney:

No one...
Fries like Fuuma
No one lies like Fuuma
No one dishes out onmyouji eyes like Fuuma
For he's perfectly naughty and vicious,
In fact, he's got cruelness to spare
Ever since he's gone bad, he's delicious
And just look what evil has done to his hair!

No one licks like Fuuma
No one kicks like Fuuma
No one wows all the passing-by chicks like Fuuma
For the kekkai he soon will be desecrating
My, what a guy....FUUMAAAAAAAAA!

Now you know why I don't sing.

Lika, you don't have to get a cat if you don't want to...but *lifts up Nabiki isn't she cuuuuuuute? Don't you want one of your very own?

Yeah, I liked Riley, too. And he was an Iowa boy! (Actually, he looks a lot like the guys around here...there are some duds, but for the most part, Iowa guys are very good looking). Yeah, Bob, that means you.

Oh, my hair is now red again. One thing about having it short is that it is easier to dye. Bob, of course, loves it...I was red-headed when we first met and he never quite forgave me for letting go back to the light brown. Of course, I was also a lot thinner, but he's been a gentleman about THAT. Good thing, too.

Real Quick
Yeah, right. Why is it that every time I change the blog a little, it takes me like 4 hours? Because my web skills suck, that's why. So now you know.

Lika, YOU RULE!!! I love it when you rant, chica! But if you put down your fanfics anymore, I'm gonna slap you upside the head. Your fics are fresh and original and wonderful and I love em. So there.

Alison, it was nice chatting with you today. Always happy to know a fellow cat lover. My kitties are:
Lily, a grey & cream Siamese mix
Tegan (Bob's cat), a big seal-grey cat with a curly tail
Nabiki, a black & white Japanese Bobtail
and Hickory, a tabby kitten with odd markings and polydactyl toes that I found in the woods a couple months back.
They are all very bad cats, but we love 'em just the same!

Ammie-chan, I want you to know that your "Prince Dai" song has been running through my head ALL DAY. Make it stop! Make it stop!

Kerianne, I'm glad you liked Wings of Desire, and I apologize, but yes, Karen and Yuuto did *coughhavesexcough*, but it was a dream, right? So it doesn't count? However, in the sequel...

No! Lika, stay back! It won't be finished for a long time! Wings took me almost six months! But maybe you and Kerianne will like this one-shot I'm working on now...

*glomps* Satsuki-chan, thank you for helping me out!

Oh, brief angst moment: pipeburst havetomeetplumber mustgetnewfurnace/ac installed, jobissodamnBOOOOOORING, gottalosemoreweight, peskyhubbyhastogoouttatown, cathastobespayed nomoney crycrycry. Okay, all done.
