Free! Free! Free!
At last! Done with Wellmark!! No more hell employer!! We'll be out of the house by tomorrow as well. I was going to bitch and moan about the vileness of my former employer, but at this point, I say, let it go. I did my best, and even finished out my time, working hard up to the end.

It's strange, kinda. This relocation, which is a huge event in my life, has run past me like some kind of movie. It doesn't feel real, even now with the house almost empty. Starting tomorrow, I'll be a resident in a new town 200 miles away, knowing no one but my husband. It's scary, but it's also very liberating in a sense.

Since I moved to Des Moines 3 and a half years ago, it seems like I somehow disconnected with my real self and began living this odd shadow life of work and stress. Only recently have I gotten back to what I enjoy and started feeling like the person I once was. I'm starting a new chapter, it seems.

And it's gonna' to take some time this time
no matter what I plan
and like the young trees in the winter time
I'll learn how to bend
after all the tears we've shed
how could we make amends
so it's one more round for experience
and I'm on the road again
and it's gonna' to take some time, this time.
"It's Going to Take Some Time" lyrics by Carole King, sung by the Carpenters.

One More Day
*strikes up the Les Miserables soundtrack* What a zoo! Almost done at work. Evil bitch boss won't do recommendation for me...luckily I have 4 other people who will. They had a farewell party, but it was actually an "end of project/3 people in department's birthday/good luck to guy who got promotion/oh and by the way, seeya Maria" party. Very ackward. I got a card handed to me "Sorry, I guess we should have given this to you when everyone was here, huh?" I am SO GLAD I'm getting out of that place!!!

Otoh, the Life Insurance department downstairs threw a food day in my honor, gave me a lovely card and PRESENTS (from Von Maur, no less!) and a big speech from two of the bosses thanking me in front of everyone for my great work. It was the first time in my life I've been referred to as "A gift from the gods". Now why couldn't my own department do that for me, I ask you? They were so sweet. I will miss THEM.

I just love Kristin'stranslations. It really is wonderful that she and Alison and other fan-translators are willing to take their time to share their knowledge. I really appreciate their work. Although I have a scary feeling that I might have met Kristin somewhere...she keeps mentioning things in and around Des Moines...of course, by this weekend, I'll be in Dubuque FOR GOOD.

Ammie-chan, you do fanart? How cool! Really enjoying your blog--it always makes me smile. "Daisuke? Good FUCK, yeah!" LOL!

C'mon, Kusa, it's dark, in the forest, with a cute girl in a bikini...catch a clue, cutie....;-D

Mom and Dad are driving me crazy. Actually she's sitting right here talking my ear off, but doesn't see my typing. I now remember why I moved out all those years ago. They have no more respect for my privacy now than they did then. I love them to death, but only in small doses. All my hobbies are stupid, my friends flakey and my beliefs purile. We had plans set up for the move this weekend, and today they just blithely brushed them aside, so now we have 2 less people to help because my parents always have to be right and have to have their way. Damn, I sound like a sulky teenager. Now if only I could still LOOK like a sulky teenager...;-D

One more dawn...one more day...one day more!

Of course, I did my entry just before I realized the blog was getting huuuge and then archived. See Font of Wisdom for today's quota of wit.
