Ooh. Well, I will forever remain a Patriots fan, but the Bills are a lot of fun to watch lately, and not just because of Drew (although he is a big part of the reason).
It's been a pretty nice weekend thus far. Open House was yesterday which was fun as always. I saw a movie with Tasha last night which was surprisingly good. It was an independent film called The Man From Elysian Fields, starring Andy Garcia, Mick Jagger, Julianna Margulies and James Coburn. Kind of an odd match-up but it made for some very good acting. Mick Jagger's character seemed a little out of place at times (though not as out of place as Angelica Huston's small role) but in all the movie was quite entertaining. I could not help smiling as I left the theater which is all the proof I need of a good movie.
Charmed comes on in 90 minutes... :)

I'm blogging today from the Goldfarb library here at Brandeis. I have about ten minutes before I have to be here to work and I could just start early but I am not feeling so inclined. I really want to just sit outside in the sun and bask in the glory that is Thursday. I do so love Thursdays. Since I only have one morning class on Fridays, Thursday afternoon is really the beginning of my weekend. I love it. :)
Anyway, Elise sent me a really funny forward today about projectile chickens so if anyone is interested I'll be happy to pass it along.
I volunteered at the blood drive yesterday. It was quite fun. I'll definitely do it again. The Red Cross refuses to take my blood (something to do with having cancer or chemotherapy or other such nonsense) but I feel like since someone helped me out a few years ago by donating blood, I should do something to return the favor. So I did. And it felt good. :) The one shining moment in an otherwise useless day.

I guess I didn't miss much this afternoon. I'm glad I went to the wedding instead of sticking around to watch the game. (The wedding was absolutely beautiful, by the way.)
I'm hungry.

Firstly, my sympathies go out to Tasha who is sick. :( Feel better soon!
Well, last night was an adventure. Basically I get a call around 4pm from Luda wanting to know if I would like to drive her and her boyfriend to Worcester to see Ash and Dashboard Confessional at the Palladium. After much contemplation, I said sure. I wouldn't mind seeing a show and I wasn't doing anything else that night. Plus the ticket was already paid for so... why not? Well, I had to pick up Luda and company at Luda's sister's house in Brookline. I got directions off Mapquest and confirmed them with Luda's brother-in-law. Unfortunately, I'm a moron. I missed my left turn in Brookline and ended up in downtown Boston. Then I was talking to Keith, Luda's brother-in-law, on my cell phone and we decided I was on Boylston st so he gave me directions to Beacon. Well, turns out, I wasn't on Boylston St and his directions put me on Mass Ave. God knows where I would have ended up if I had gone much longer on that road, suffice it to say that the neighborhoods Mass Ave runs through are not exactly places I'd like to stop and ask for directions, but Keith got me turned around and back to Beacon st then pretty much talked me all the way to his house. It was just a little embarrassing. But anyway. I got there (about 40 minutes later than expected) and Luda, Nate and I drove to Worcester to see an okay show and then drove back. I dropped them off at Nate's house in, I guess, Cambridge or somewhere close to it, and then went back to Brandeis. I was back by 1am. Very good time actually on the way back.
Well, anyway, it was all very exciting. Today I am going to Springfield (hopefully I won't have to drive) to see Kerri get married. It should be lots of fun. I will, however, miss the Patriots-Packers game but I don't know if I can handle watching them lose again anyway, especially not to the Packers. And if they win (which is possible, I am ever optimistic) it will be a pleasant surprise when I get back. :) My only regret will be not seeing the match up between Brady and Favre. It should be quite cool to watch. Oh well.

The curious mind might want to know why I'm up and blogging at 2:20am when I have to be somewhere pressed and dressed at 9am...
But the curious mind is usually wasted on me since 9 times out of 10 my strange habits are motivated by something I happened to notice on TV and proceeded to watch to the end. Tonight I watched Coach, as has been my tradition this past week or so. I don't know why but that show never fails to make me laugh out loud. I wish this were not true but it is and so I'll just have to let this phase run its course like all the others.
And I think occupying Iraq is a monumentally bad idea. Particularly if we do it using a scheme that was orginally designed around Douglas MacArthur in Japan in the 1940's. That's just lame.
Thursday, October 10, 2002. 09:03 p.m.
Well, I'm feeling much better, although I'm still prone to fits of coughing. My energy has returned to me as have my good spirits.
Busy weekend coming up. It's Homecoming/Family weekend here at Brandeis and I'm, of course, in the thick of things. I have a bunch of RA work to catch up on, I have to attend a quad breakfast Saturday morning at 9am, I'm going to Kerri's wedding on Sunday, and Monday is Open House for which I have to be in RA mode again. Hurrah.
Anyway. I got almost four hours of sleep last night so tonight I am going to chill out in my newly cleaned room (yes, I was highly productive this afternoon) and get some real sleep. God I love Thursdays.

Well, here's the thing. My cold has now migrated down to my lungs which in my experience usually means it's on its last legs. So hopefully in the next day or so I will be exhibiting marked improvement. In the meantime, though, I still feel like crap.
This is really unfortunate since I have physics lab today and a physics test on Thursday I need to study for. Studying when you're sick is often futile but we'll see how it goes.
I have to express my sympathies for the victims of the mass link deletions from Jim's blog. I hope you all recover from the trauma soon. And although I know he never reads this blog, I feel it necessary to support my family by telling Jim to grow up. (I could qualify that statement and express numerous other opinions on the situation but frankly it's none of my business so I'll just leave it at that).

Well it was bad enough that I somehow contracted the plague this weekend, then the Pats had to go and lose miserably to Miami yesterday. I'm so depressed. And I'm still sick. But at least I have some clean clothes now. (I did laundry today for the first time in about four weeks... instead of going to class).
And Charmed comes on in an hour... heh, heh.
Saturday, October 5, 2002. 12:39 p.m.
Well, I thought this was going to be an amazing weekend. Thursday night I saw Rent in Lowell, MA. It was sooooo amazingly good. I had such a great time. Friday I woke up with a bit of a scratchy throat which soon passed. I skipped my morning class, had lunch with Luda and Tash and then drove to Worcester to visit Kali which was a lot of fun. We went out to dinner and did a little shopping and then I drove home. It was great! And today my plan was to clean my room, get some studying done and hang out with Tasha tonight then spend tomorrow reading and watching football.
Unfortunately, last night when I got home from Worcester, I called mom and that sore throat from the morning started coming back. I ignored it for a time but it got worse until eventually mom commented... "You sound like you're getting sick". It was true, I was kind of stuffed up, really tired and my throat was killing me. So I went to bed early but kept waking up in the middle of the night because I was drowning in my own mucus. (A lovely visual for y'all). So now I have no energy to clean my room or study and going out with Tasha will still be fun but I know I won't be able to enjoy as much as I could.
I am SOOOOO mad.
Tuesday, October 1, 2002. 11:53 p.m.
Okay, so today was the day from hell. I just couldn't do anything right. I had a midterm this morning, a 3 hour lab this afternoon, I had both my quad director and the Director of Residence Life breathing down my neck for multiple reasons (the most embarassing one being that I inadvertently stood them both up today), I had an impromtu meeting with a Health Services Coordinator, I had to make a Sociogram(don't ask), I had to coordinate tonight's staff meeting... and the worst part is that the chaos of the day was almost entirely my fault. I just couldn't get my crap together.
Now I'm exhausted both physically and emotionally and I haven't done any homework. And I don't plan on doing any. Great isn't it? I basically haven't had a minute to myself today to sit and relax and I have come to realize that I really really need that. So, I'm going to get it in place of my physics reading. I think it's a good plan.
Sunday, September 29, 2002. 09:22 p.m.
So, I think Dick Vermeil (aka Satan) has put a hex on the NFL. The Patriots defense is falling apart, the Rams are 0-4 and now Kurt Warner has a busted finger, the Lions beat the Saints, the Bills beat the Bears, the Jets are 1-3 and have scored a grand total of 50 points for the season, and, of course, Vermeil's little red demon army beat the Dolphins today... (so they gave up 30 points, they scored 48... Priest Holmes is a demon warrior, who needs a defense?)
So anyway, yeah. A hex. That's my explanation.
Friday, September 27, 2002. 10:26 p.m.
I love having a car on campus. It's delightful.
For the record, the pictures of Eliz in the Pooh costume are frightening. (I have an innate fear of people dressed in big animal costumes... I don't know why.)
It's not official yet but it's possible Kali and I will be making the trip to Maine together toward the end of October. I'm hoping anyway. Kali still has to check with her coach. And if we do go home, Luda is coming with us. :) So watch out!!!! Hahaha!!!

The Maine Speech Lessons
Lesson 10:
Attempting to mimic a "Maine accent" is a good way to get your ass-kicked.
Lesson 9:
An "Italian Sandwich" doesn't include anything remotely Italian.
Lesson 8:
If you hear Mainers mention "Angus" or "the independent on the motorcycle", they're referring to the governor.
Lesson 7:
If you hear a Mainer refer to "The County" he or she is referring to Aroostook County, the one that comprises about a third of the state.
Lesson 6:
Mainers are NOT Bostonians. We like our R's and are generally happy to pronounce them. R's at the end of words can be softened occasionally but are rarely dropped completely.
Lesson 5:
The town Calais is pronounced "Cal-us" not "Cal-ay". No one is sure why but it is best not to question.
Lesson 4:
There is only one kind of clam chowder in Maine.
Lesson 3:
The word "wicked" is an acceptable substitute for the word "really" (in moderation) and has no implicit connotation, positive or negative.
Lesson 2:
The town of Bangor is prounounced "Bang-gore" not "Banger".
Lesson 1:
The word "Ayuh" is an appropriate answer to any question.
