The Past

I think I may have to take up rock climbing as a hobby. I had much fun today on the ropes course at Project Adventure in Beverly, MA. I walked across a log suspended between two trees approximately 50 feet in the air and was pulled up more than fifty feet into the air very fast on the end of a rope and flew around for a few seconds. It was great. :) It has been awhile since I have had an adrenaline rush like that... probably since I last fell off a horse and I must say I prefer today's method.

Anyway, this was just a brief note. Now that I have cleaned off the layer of dirt I had covering my body I am off to dinner with Tasha and Peggy and possibly (but hopefully not) some other random people. Fun, fun, fun!

Hi Ho. I'm quite tired and I have a feeling today will be an unpleasant day of training due to the large number of RA's who opted not to participate in a mandatory part of training last night... um, yeah. So today will be interesting. Unfortunately, I feel partly responsible in a very small way. I didn't put as much effort as I should have into the program and I was not a very active participant myself, although I did not skip out on it I just didn't socialize much due to some very painful cramps and a generally crappy feeling.

So anyway. I'm going to have to make nice with the quad directors today. Luckily it's a short day because I'm still feeling kinda crappy.

In more uplifting news, I do think training is going well and I think I'm going to like most of the staff this year. My floor decorating is progressing slowly but surely and I am really looking forward to Opening Sunday.

Well, I'm back at Brandeis. Hoorah!!! It is, of course, inconceivably hot and humid and my room is, of course, not air conditioned but I am surviving. I am mostly unpacked and about to hop in the shower before the barbecue that will kick off RA Training. Sigh.

Am I ready for all of this? Uhhhh.... yyyyyes. Yes. I believe I am. :)

It is good to be back. It is fun to be arranging my room and seeing people I haven't seen all summer. This will be good. And now that I have a car with me, Maine is just a little two-hour jaunt away. (Which is good in case underwear isn't the only thing I forgot. How dumb am I? Dumb enough to bring only four days worth of underwear. Thank you, Mom, for sending me more pronto.)

Whoah. Well, I guess I kinda suck, don't I? It has been over a month since I blogged which is almost inexcusable. But then again... I never really said much of interest anyway.

I am writing today because today is my last full day in South Portland. Tomorrow morning I return to Brandeis. Yippee! Not that I won't miss Maine and my family... I always do... but at Brandeis I can rule supremely over my space and destiny (to a certain extent) which will not so much reduce the stress in my life as it will replace current stress with new, fresh, stress. And I guess that is preferable to no change at all. Plus I miss my friends.

So anyway. I will probably blog more frequently once I get back to school. There are no taped episodes of Kung Fu: The Legend Continues or Due South to distract me from my computer.... I don't even have a VCR. :)

Happy 1st Anniversary Eliz and Andrew!!!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY, DAD!!!

I only have a minute before I have to go up to Farmington but I haven't blogged in awhile so I thought I'd take this moment to send my good wishes to all the fathers out there.

Anyway. I'm off now. I have discovered a way to incorporate a man with wings into my latest story and wish to explore the idea further.

Vive largo y prospera.

One more note. I just breezed by the Patriots web site and apparently the rumors are true. The Pats just signed a former Pittsburgh Steeler, guard Richard Tylski, a couple weeks ago.

I am probably the last person to hear about this, except for maybe Andrew who was asking about it the other day, but it's still interesting. I must take this moment to say that I a really starting to long for football season to start up again. Baseball and basketball just don't do it for me.

Okay, I'm done. Goodnight.

Hey so I updated my link to Elizzie's blog so now it goes to her new blog instead of her old one which can still be reached quite easily via her new one.

Total blogmass has exceeded safe limits. Standby for global destruction.

Richard Dean Anderson is cool because he says things like "over my rotting corpse" and "bite me".

Once again Eliz and Andrew were at my house watching Dr. Quinn. It was so cool. I'm sure it is a sign that the apocalypse is at hand but it is cool nonetheless. But now it is time for me to sleep so I can rest and be prepared for work tomorrow... and for the arrival of my grandparents...

I am so very sleepy and I have to get up at 7 tomorrow (later today) but I am still up. I guess I feel like I haven't blogged in awhile. And I haven't. I had a really great Friday then a really intense and stressful Saturday and so I was completely out of commission for Sunday and then Monday I think I forgot the Internet existed...

Anyway, it's not important. Elizzie's new blog looks pretty slick. She and Andrew came over Monday night and we watched the series finale of MacGyver which I randomly stumbled upon while reviewing a very old tape. It was truly a bizarre evening. It got even more bizarre as we watched the last half of a Dr. Quinn episode.

I got paid today. :) If you're happy and you know it clap your hands!!! *clap* *clap*

The Maine Speech Lessons

Lesson 10:
Attempting to mimic a "Maine accent" is a good way to get your ass-kicked.

Lesson 9:
An "Italian Sandwich" doesn't include anything remotely Italian.

Lesson 8:
If you hear Mainers mention "Angus" or "the independent on the motorcycle", they're referring to the governor.

Lesson 7:
If you hear a Mainer refer to "The County" he or she is referring to Aroostook County, the one that comprises about a third of the state.

Lesson 6:
Mainers are NOT Bostonians. We like our R's and are generally happy to pronounce them. R's at the end of words can be softened occasionally but are rarely dropped completely.

Lesson 5:
The town Calais is pronounced "Cal-us" not "Cal-ay". No one is sure why but it is best not to question.

Lesson 4:
There is only one kind of clam chowder in Maine.

Lesson 3:
The word "wicked" is an acceptable substitute for the word "really" (in moderation) and has no implicit connotation, positive or negative.

Lesson 2:
The town of Bangor is prounounced "Bang-gore" not "Banger".

Lesson 1:
The word "Ayuh" is an appropriate answer to any question.
