Okay. So here's how my night has gone.
Mela was great. Everyone in it was fabulous (especially my numerous friends and acquaintances. Adila, Koosh! I love you both!!! You were awesome!!!). However, Mela didn't finish until 8:30ish, which is around the time that I was supposed to be starting my first rounds with fellow RA, Matt.
I sprinted to the quad office as soon as the last dance ended, but Matt had already left on rounds. Running up the stairs, I twisted my ankle. I was also incapable of breathing after my sprint in 30 degree weather.
So. There I was. Gasping, coughing, limping around the quad until I spotted Matt. He gave a me a strange look and told me to go sit down. Something I should have expected.
Anyway, then to make matters worse, we had some unfortunate encounters later on rounds, the details of which I really shouldn't post on the internet for all to view. I also smashed my knee on the quad office coffee table.
Then I returned here to sleep, and know full well that my phone can ring at any time tonight and wake me up because some poor idiot... never mind. I'm just going to bed to rest my lungs, my ankle, my knee and my pounding head. Thanks for listening.

B.A.C.H.A. RA Conference.... much better than expected. It was actually really interesting. And there was free stuff.
But it was wicked tiring. And my day is far from over. I am off to see a South Asian culture show soon and directly from there I go on duty. And believe it or not, I volunteered for ALL of this. The conference was optional, the show is purely entertainment, and I wasn't going to be on duty tonight, but I'm covering for another RA.
SO. Who's a sucker? That would be me. But hey. At least I don't have to study orgo.

Ahh... So orgo is now gone from my life... well, for a little while anyway. But I'm still in the orgo lab section which is good because it means I'm still a full-time student.
I am so glad this week is over.

Hot cocoa makes everything better. :)
I've added a link to Elise's new Blog on the left. Check it out for a good dose of Dartmouth style musings.
So, I've decided to put an end to my suffering and drop organic chemistry. It was a long, agonizing process coming to that decision, and just be assured that I weighed all the pros and cons until I thought I would die, I lost sleep over this, I even had a minor emotional breakdown while talking to my orgo professor, so believe me this was not a decision I made lightly, but I am confident it is the right decision.
Now I can enjoy Thanksgiving and my screaming relatives without this crap hanging over me. And if they ask me how school is going I can say "Sorry? They were blasting at the construction site on campus and I was standing to close trying to save a baby squirrel so I blew out my hearing. YOU'LL HAVE TO SPEAK UP!!!" Heh heh heh.

HAPPY 20TH BIRTHDAY! To my super cool friend Natasha!
Oh and don't be alarmed by the dancing hamsters. They won't bite. Just click on them if you want to see hundreds more...and hear them sing. Hahahaha!

If you're wondering about the weird foot in the middle of the page, I hijacked it from Elizzie's page where she posts all of her art. Well... the good stuff anyway. So it's her foot I think, and she drew it. And it probably won't stay long but I thought my blog needed a foot.

So, the midterm went okay despite my really long study break last night. I rocked the oxidative respiration section! Woohoo! The other stuff wasn't so great but I try not to focus too much on that.
Note the new Maine Speech Lessons.

Instead of finishing my studying for my midterm later this morning, I have been tweaking my pita. Now though I must finish studying and get at least a couple hours of sleep and hope the smell of marijuana that still permeates my clothing (now balled up in my laundry pile) will not keep me awake.

I smell like pot. Did you know that there are people in the world whose primary job is to find or create materials that smell like various illegal substances to use for educational purposes? I always knew there had to be SOME useful application of organic chemistry but I never guessed it would be so cool.

I am not a fan of rodents.

Please note the Maine Speech lessons to the right. These are to help people "from away" better understand people from Maine. They are not to help non-Mainers sound like Mainers. That is simply impossible. I just want to do my part to prevent potential misunderstandings and help generate good relations between Mainers and the rest of the world.

Okay, so with a little help from my deranged brother-in-law and at the expense of my studying efforts, I have made a few adjustments. The colors are still nothing exciting but they're less blue and less... red, white and blue (Thank you, Eliz, for pointing that out.) Not that there is anything wrong with a little patriotism. I just don't want to come off as a fanatic... yet. At least not before I win over my audience.

Today I played with chloroplasts and highly corrosive chemicals.

Note the special links to the left and to the right everyone. You may already be quite familiar with them as they are, in general, quite popular, but sometimes people need to be reminded of the finer things in life. Enjoy and keep checking for new ones (and don't forget the ultimate link in the entry headers).
Monday, November 12, 2001. 12:18 a.m.
Okay, so it isn't perfect but it will be staying like this for awhile. It's a little too blue for my taste but I'm too friggin tired right now to mess with it anymore.
Every entry header will link you to the greatest site on the web. I suggest you head there immediately to begin the first stages of the illumination. More intense sites will come later in the bodies of these entries. Stay tuned.

Welcome to my Pita. Heh heh. I promise to illuminate you, just bear with me while I make some fine adjustments.

The Maine Speech Lessons
Lesson 6:
Mainers are NOT Bostonians. We like our R's and are generally happy to pronounce them. R's at the end of words can be softened occasionally but are rarely dropped completely.
Lesson 5:
The town Calais is pronounced "Cal-us" not "Cal-ay". No one is sure why but it is best not to question.
Lesson 4:
There is only one kind of clam chowder in Maine.
Lesson 3:
The word "wicked" is an acceptable substitute for the word "really" (in moderation) and has no implicit connotation, positive or negative.
Lesson 2:
The town of Bangor is prounounced "Bang-gore" not "Banger".
Lesson 1:
The word "Ayuh" is an appropriate answer to any question.
