Happy Birthday Mommy! :)

Wednesday, March 12, 2003. 10:17 p.m.

Well, so far my first week back at school has been... generally crappy. Although, the weather was quite nice today. I am currently taking a break from the insanity that is organic chemistry. I have an exam tomorrow. I will return to it soon but I need to study in small spurts or I fall asleep. At one point I fell asleep and actually started dreaming in chemical equations... unfortunately, I don't think they were right...

Well, I'm just about ready to leave. I have a few more things to pack and then I'm just waiting for Luda to get her butt over here so we can eat breakfast and go. :)

Melissa and I finished season 4 of X-Files last night, and watched the first two episodes of Season 5 (can't end with a cliffhanger). I have a feeling we are going to be able to finish up seasons 5 and 6 without a problem.

I am terribly dismayed, however, that my DVD player is malfunctioning. It means I can't watch my Stargate DVD's. It must be fixed soon. It must!!!

I am officially on vacation! woohoo! I will be home on Sunday.

A big congratulations to Luda for getting the RA job!! Yay! I am so excited.

Okay, so I was getting my first decent night's sleep in a week last night and wouldn't you know, this morning around 11:30 (I'm still sound asleep), my phone rings and the most obnoxious woman in the world starts trying to get me to buy magazines. Now, I told her I couldn't talk because I had just gotten up but she was tricky (and I was still practically comatose) and she actually managed to keep me on the phone for a good ten minutes before I finally came to my senses and hung up on her. I know solicitors are supposed to be pushy but i told this woman TWICE in no uncertain terms that I did not want the damn magazines and she then proceeded to imply that since it was such a good deal I more or less owed it to her and her company to take it. That's when I hung up. I was getting pissed.

So anyway, that wasn't the greatest way to start the day but now that I'm back from work and have absolutely nothing to do that is school related, I am happy again. :)

Okay so Elizabeth's last blog entry now links to my blog but to the wrong entry since, unlike my sister, I have not been neglecting my blogging duties. And so now, instead of ridiculing my TV Theme Song CD (which i'll be the first to admit warrants a little ridicule), her little link is going to be interpreted as either a criticism of Stargate SG1 or of my affection for my friends, either case being unacceptable. I therefore suggest to Eliz that she update her blog or be destroyed by the venomous cow army (you know very well what i'm talking about).

Thank you. :)

Stargate SG1 Season 2 DVD's arrived Friday. :) I have been watching all weekend. I am a happy person.

Unfortunately I have a chemistry exam on Tuesday and a physics exam on Thursday... both of which make me want to beat myself with a hammer.

Oh yeah, and since I'm in such a good mood at the moment because I just finished watching X-Files, I feel like taking a moment to express my appreciation for my three best friends at Brandeis: Tasha, for being the sweetest person alive and always offering her support, Luda, for constantly challenging me to be better person and looking out for me, and Melissa, for making me laugh and feel good about myself even when life seems to suck. For these reasons and countless others, I love you all.

Another Snow Day! How cool is that?

Today I didn't even have to get dressed, the university never even opened. heh, heh. I only wish I had my Stargate DVDs already... this would be a great day to curl up in bed and watch 22 episodes of Stargate SG1...

Snow Day!!!

There is one cool blizzard going on right now. The snow is piling up fast, visibility sucks, classes are cancelled... heh,heh... life is good.

Now the only question is, what am I going to do with myself for the rest of the day?

Friday, February 14, 2003. 12:48 p.m.

I am not insane.

I am quite hungry, though. I think I'm going to lunch now...

Wednesday, February 12, 2003. 10:59 p.m.

So, the other day I was bored and decided to make a CD comprised entirely of television theme songs. (Just shut up, okay?)

Eliz suggested that I post the playlist so here it is:

1. MacGyver 2. Mission Impossible 3. Greatest American Hero 4. David the Gnome 5. MASH 6. Noozles 7. Gilmore Girls 8. Ally McBeal 9. Perfect Strangers 10. Gummi Bears 11. Fame 12. Highlander 13. Fraggle Rock 14. Pippi Longstocking 15. The Facts of Life 16. In the Heat of the Night 17. Charmed 18. Growing Pains 19. Tale Spin 20. The Littlest Hobo 21. Family Matters 22. Shining Time Station 23. Ed 24. Muppet Babies 25. Friends 26. Who's the Boss? 27. Rescue Rangers 28. Punky Brewster 29. Blossom 30. Animaniacs 31. Cheers 32. The Muppet Show 33. Dukes of Hazzard 34. Fresh Prince of Bel Air 35. Evening Shade 36. All in the Family 37. Due South

Impressive, eh? Heh, heh. Okay, I recognize my now complete departure from reality, let's move on.

The Maine Speech Lessons

Lesson 10:
Attempting to mimic a "Maine accent" is a good way to get your ass-kicked.

Lesson 9:
An "Italian Sandwich" doesn't include anything remotely Italian.

Lesson 8:
If you hear Mainers mention "Angus" or "the independent on the motorcycle", they're referring to the governor.

Lesson 7:
If you hear a Mainer refer to "The County" he or she is referring to Aroostook County, the one that comprises about a third of the state.

Lesson 6:
Mainers are NOT Bostonians. We like our R's and are generally happy to pronounce them. R's at the end of words can be softened occasionally but are rarely dropped completely.

Lesson 5:
The town Calais is pronounced "Cal-us" not "Cal-ay". No one is sure why but it is best not to question.

Lesson 4:
There is only one kind of clam chowder in Maine.

Lesson 3:
The word "wicked" is an acceptable substitute for the word "really" (in moderation) and has no implicit connotation, positive or negative.

Lesson 2:
The town of Bangor is prounounced "Bang-gore" not "Banger".

Lesson 1:
The word "Ayuh" is an appropriate answer to any question.
