Thieves Among Us

This morning on the Metra train there was a guy who'd been ripped off. Apparently his bag & shirt were stolen. He seemed pretty non-chalant about it. Maybe he was the real thief and the other guy stole it back from him. That's still stealing isn't it? I realized something profound (on my personal scale) lately - how our arguing/adversarial set up of the courts is the absolute wrong way to do it. Invariably, one lawyer is fighting for the wrong side. One side is wrong, so somebody is doing wrong in defending/prosecuting that side. This whole problem was brought about by the lawyers themselves, setting it up in such a way as to make themselves valuable. This must be the only reason it was ever set up like that because it is a major flaw. If all heads concerned simply put their efforts into uncovering the truth and not just presenting what is their case, everything would be better. I guess this is what is meant by "lawyers getting their claws into the system." I also propose that for a person to be eligible to be a public official, from Podunk, Illinois School Board Director to the President of the U.S.of A., that person has to have never been a lawyer on any scale or have ever been to law school. Oh yeah, one of my oldest friends is taking the bar exam next week, so wish him luck. How many of you have enjoyed your new Popeye desktop (see last Friday)? Take a look at this, although it has nothing to do with Popeye: Abacos Grill
