Pet Sounds, 101

We bought Pet Sounds this weekend - much more 'artistic' than I thought it'd be. In the liner notes Paul McCartney says that 'no musical education is complete without having heard 'Pet Sounds'' (paraphrase). The problem is that I don't think a musical education is ever complete. Even Beethoven had something to learn. Beethoven never heard Pet Sounds did he!?
