Dang Shoot

Who needs Sundance? Who needs Cannes? Who need the Chicago International or Telluride? I've got Gainesville, GA to worry about! Last night my editor brought that film festival up, somehow he had runacrost it. My dad told us about it, having found it in a short column in the Atlanta Paper, and he hardly ever reads the paper (expect for Braves info). Maybe it's a good omen that my editor found it as well - double serendipity! Lats night I saw a special about Jack Ruby and how his encounter with Oswald may have been serendipitous. That's a pretty amazing coincidence if you ask me, but that's whay makes us serendipity after all. Isn't that a film with Micahel Keaton & the worst of all actresses (Andie McDowell)? No, that was 'Multiplicity' wasn't it? Sounds fascinating, this multplicitous concept. Wholly amazing! I always hated the clothes Keaton's wearng on taht poster/video box: jeans, workboots, & a flannel shirt. He looks like such a placid vacuity! The cleanly void of so many characters drives me nuts. Why doesn't anybody show the scuffs on the boots? They are work boots, aren't they? Anything with cahracter, please! These are characters here! How they can strip a concept of all validity with such consistent precision & comprehension amazes me! When did it become the norm to look like Jennifer Aniston (the archetypical example of what I'm talking about)? Even Britney Spears has something unique about her, as trashy & shallow & I must say trashy again it is, it's not the steamrolled hair-straightened paradigm that infests pop cultures' sinewy middles like the black death of any given London winter! Where of where have you gone, Peter Lorre?
