Cliff Burton, Richie Havens & Me
Springsteen's new album sounds exciting. 'Nebraska' was one of the most monumental albums in my life - it was the soundtrack to a certain road trip in 98. Like Elvis, yes Presley, and Brian Wilson, I hadn't paid much attention to Bruce before that. I was too busy listening to Cohen & Cave (my Dylan listening had slowed down at that point, excluding Time Out of Mind which I committed to mem'ry). It's at about that time I discovered listening to the old Dylan again after so many years since the first teen infatuation with it and having a more profound experience than I had back then. Albums like 'Another Side of' and 'Times they are'a ' for the first time since H.S., really, and hearing them with the new ears and digging it that much more. How about that for succinctity!? I can't even just say "it's at about that time in my life that I started listened to Dylan's earliest albums again for the first time since High School, and I was hearing them more clearly and enjoying them so much more." Albums like Nebraska make me feel stupid because it's one of those that took me so long to find. So many years listening to the Crue & Megadeth & Metallica. You know, when I hear old Metallica songs on the radio now, I listen and like them again. Nothing after Justice, however, all of that is pure adulterous crap. The 80's stuff, though, oh my, fasten your seat belt and hold on tight I tell you what!
