Bahamafication
A couple years ago I was Mauified. Now I'm going to be Bahamafied, although
I don't yet know exactly what that means. Whatever it is, I mean to let
that happen. Now that the snow's here, it'll feel extra nice to be gone.
The thing about the snow is that it's simply too late. I love snow & I even
like the cold. They both wear out their relative welcomes by the end of
January though, and now that both are comng near then they're not welcome
at all. Snow's charm is not here this year, even though it does make
everything look beautiful and all. Is it beautiful & cold or beautiful yet
cold? This defines your personality. The cold is actually still welcome I
take it back, but it's walking on thin ice (all pun intended), and we may
have to make it exorcise itself before February begins. Those are the worst
months of the year, ain't they: February & March? ? St. Patrick's Day is
the beginning of hope, really, even though it's usually still wet & dirty &
brown everywhere. There's romance to autumn, all the way through, but the
beginning of spring and end of winter is just plain ugly. Winter cleans the
earth, but feb/mar is like opening the washing machine in that brief space
between wash & rinse - it's being cleaned but is actually dirtier than it
was before it went in (with soap). Maybe when teh seasons wash the world
they wash our spirits too. Maybe that's why seasonal depression takes hold:
we're just reacting to being scrubbed down with the divine Lufa sponge and
holy steel wool. Cleanliness is next to Godliness? Says who?
