...'you've got your whole life to do something and that's not very long...' Ani DiFranco

The government want to put disabled children in mainstream schools. Most people are happy enough about this, but when it comes to those with learning disabilities or mental health problems, they shy away. Me? Depends why they're doing it. Depends what kind of support the teachers get.

I think it says more about how scared we are of depression and mental health generally than it does anything else, though.

It gets scarier every day. This is what scares me, that we'll be so busy worrying about what's going on in Afghanistan that we'll forget about the extremeists everywhere else and that this will go too far to ever be fixed.

Tit for tat.

I just want this to end. It's like Ireland. (Or Ireland is like this. Whichever.) 'They killed our people, so we'll kill them.' Does it matter who started it? Sooner or later, someone has to stop. Else there'll be noone left.

And it looks like the Middle East is at war. Don't the hits just keep on coming.

Last week was horrendously busy. I did actually try to post once but pitas.com seemed to be down. Really should be round until Wednesday, but I'm on leave Thursday and Friday because I'm going to see Tori Amos. Oh yes. Never seen her before, and I can't wait.

Anyway. The US has been bombing the wrong targets in Afghanistan. Twice in two days. I've not heard any news all weekend so I didn't hear til this morning.

'A senior mujahedin commander said US strikes killed more than 100 civilians around Agam, 25 miles south of Jalalabad, on top of at least 70 killed in air raids on Saturday night.

'At least eight of the latest victims were guards and government officials of the Eastern Shura, the council of anti-Taliban mujahedin leaders who now hold eastern Afghanistan.

...'The US military acknowledged last night that it was looking into the reports of civilian areas having been hit.'

Don't know what to say. I'm against this in the first place. You think this does anything to boost my confidence in your bombs? The bombs don't care who they hit. Who they kill.

"practice random kindness and acts of senseless beauty"

go on... go out and do this now. leave some money in the coffee machine so someone gets a free drink. wash someone else's coffee mug in work without telling them. buy a friend flowers 'just because'. stick up a poem on a noticeboard. go and ask in an old people's home if there is anyone who doesn't ever get visitors and sit with them for a while. smile at a stranger. let someone pull out of a side street in front of you. call your mum or dad or grandparents to tell them you love them. make someone a cake. draw this saying and stick it on a noticeboard where people will see.

spread beauty through your life. you can change the world like this.
