Not going to be around after today till next week. I'm in meetings most of today, and on leave tomorrow and Friday. Will be back on Monday. In the meantime, here are some sites to explore while I'm away....

Ashley needs some love. Danica's name sounds cool... 'daNEEka, daNEEka, daNEEka'. Erin writes amazingly. Kate has a new home and it's looking depressingly good, as normal. Katilinne has one of my favourite blogs. Kimber's weblog has good quotes in it. Loria has one of the most generous spirits I know (and she's beautiful). Marjorie has freaky dreams, and a new-old guestbook that needs some lovin'. Miyu will always make you think Rina will get you in trouble at work with her dirty mouth. Sara is a sweetie. Sara B is back, at last. And Tristian uses the word squircles.

That should keep you going. If not, there are plenty more links down that right hand side there.... *points*

Have a good week. I'll be back Monday.

Just in the process of posting a journal entry about how I was viciously attacked in the street on Saturday night. So go read, dammit!

The Hamiltons are at it again (this won't mean much to our non-UK readers. Sorry.)

This time they seem to be doing their collective best to make the accusations of sexual assault against them seem as ridiculous as possible. However, they're only really succeeding in making themselves look stupid, especially when they say they were arrested before they had a chance to defend themselves. Apparently they were approached twice to give their side of events before they were arrested.

Idiots.

Ever wondered how many hours you've been alive? Go here to find out.
[Thanks Meg]

Don't know if it's true anywhere else, but in the UK, the quality of news reports is inversely proportional to the quality of the weather outside. Thus when the weather is beautiful, the quality of news stories is tabloidesque at best. Here's a website celebrating these silly stories.

Just got an email from Loria which cheered me up a little. Thanks sweetie.

Anyway there were no updates yesterday as I was off sick. Sick and very dizzy. Horrible sensation. And I'm on leave Thursday and Friday so there will be nothing then either. I will expect lots of email and guestbook signings next Monday morning to say how much you all missed me!!

Anyway, to update you on the situation in Zimbabwe I posted about last week I thought I'd link this article.

The more I think about this, the less I find it amusing and the more I find it disturbing. Is impersonating a police officer worse than demanding a woman comply to a man's demands for sex? Isn't that technically rape? Oh I forgot, prostitutes are gagging for it all day long, you can't rape them.

And finally, speed cameras are going to be used far more in the UK than previously. If this is genuinely for the sake of improving safety, that's marvellous, but I have heard of one city council who removed their camera after it cut fatalities and speeding as it wasn't making enough revenue in fines. Doesn't sound like safety is the priority there, does it? (If I remember any more details of this I will add them.)

I am so fucking gutted.

I came into work this morning to an email from ToriAmos.com telling me that Tori will be playing one date in the UK, there will be a mere 1200 tickets, that tickets go on sale this morning.

Called about 10 minutes ago after a morning of indecision (can't afford it, don't want to use my leave, how to get there) and it's FUCKING SOLD OUT.

And I want to bitch about how unfair it is only to have 1,200 tickets for the whole of the UK, but basically she had a baby not that long ago and hell, even if that wasn't the case she's got the right to tour as much or as little as she wants.

I never thought it'd bother me this much, but I could cry.

"practice random kindness and acts of senseless beauty"

go on... go out and do this now. leave some money in the coffee machine so someone gets a free drink. wash someone else's coffee mug in work without telling them. buy a friend flowers 'just because'. stick up a poem on a noticeboard. go and ask in an old people's home if there is anyone who doesn't ever get visitors and sit with them for a while. smile at a stranger. let someone pull out of a side street in front of you. call your mum or dad or grandparents to tell them you love them. make someone a cake. draw this saying and stick it on a noticeboard where people will see.

spread beauty through your life. you can change the world like this.
