"practice random kindness and acts of senseless beauty"

go on... go out and do this now. leave some money in the coffee machine so someone gets a free drink. wash someone else's coffee mug in work without telling them. buy a friend flowers 'just because'. stick up a poem on a noticeboard. go and ask in an old people's home if there is anyone who doesn't ever get visitors and sit with them for a while. smile at a stranger. let someone pull out of a side street in front of you. call your mum or dad or grandparents to tell them you love them. make someone a cake. draw this saying and stick it on a noticeboard where people will see.

spread beauty through your life. you can change the world like this.

This was interesting about voter apathy. According to this, about 27 million people didn't vote. It's a scary figure.

You know what pisses me off most? Less than 100 years ago women died for the right to vote. More recently still wars have been fought for the right to control your country, to vote for those who you think represent you best. People have DIED for this, and we sit at home, moaning that the politicians don't represent us? If not, it's our own faults for not making them. Until you've made an effort to change it, unless you've voted and written to your candidates and encouraged others to do the same, you have no right to complain.

Rant is really over this time.

And although I never normally blog new layouts, I just wanted to say that Kate's is wonderful and full of beauty and leaves me despairing of ever in my life using letters and numbers typed on a keyboard to create something so awe-inspiring. Please, Kate, you're only 15 - pretend you're crap for a few years to give the rest of us a chance to shine! ;p

There is a new journal entry. I go off on a bit of a political rant on it, but keep going. I swear I talk about how good my weekend will be at the end ;p

I forgot that I didn't say! Loria got it right, straight off. I'm proud of you sweetie. Even though you did have inside knowledge ;)

And you're all wrong. I had been engaged twice by the age of 21, to my first two boyfriends. As you can tell, it didn't exactly work out. The lie was that I have Scottish blood. In the real world, I have Irish blood, and my blood group backs me up on this ;)

On the way into work just before I saw a girl wearing a 'Viagra is for pussies' t-shirt.

Just because everyone else is doing it...

1. The only football (as in soccer) match I've ever been to was in Germany
2. I'd been engaged twice by the age of 21
3. I have Scottish blood
4. I have 21 cousins
5. My mum once called the police because I didn't get home till 7am. I was 22 at the time
6. I have spent time learning six different languages, not counting English, with varying degrees of success
7. I was brought up Catholic
8. I didn't finish my degree
9. My bedroom is u-shaped
10. I know an annoyingly large number of people with birthdays in April

So which one isn't true? Leave your answers in my book and I'll tell you in a couple of days, or when someone gets it right ;)

People are still here. Thanks. I get lonely at times, and it's nice to know that people still bother to turn up even now I'm here a lot less.

I wrote a journal entry last night. I'll get it up at lunch.

... more entries soon, I swear...

I have so much I want to write about. But noone ever emails me or signs my guestbook any more, and I don't know whether anyone is even reading this to make even this short update worthwhile. Sure, I'm busy, and I'm updating lots less, but it'd be nice to have the reassurance that there are still people out there.
