New journal entry. You'll be glad to know this one wasn't a chore to write :)

Why oh why oh why do they still insist on prosecuting people who use cannabis for things such as MS, when according to this report the whole plant is better than THC, the active ingedient, on its own? Even cases like this one, where the defendant is found not guilty, must waste so much money and cause an incredibly amount of stress to people who are already ill.
Oh, and this is bizarre.

Been messing round with my links. Added HRN and FMW and the feminist blog. I've been meaning to add them for ages but never got around to it. Terrible.

So it's my birthday on Wednesday so I got bored and set up a wishlist on amazon. Mainly for friends I actually know and all that, but if any of you get carried away and want to buy me something, I wouldn't complain! ;p I'll link it on the left as soon as I get a mo'.

I have lots of work to do.
Therefore, I am not going to be around today. I'm not emailing (although I have to admit I just checked) and not visiting anyone's site. And I have to admit, it's probably going to be killing me by lunchtime, but I get paid to work not email and websurf so I think the least I can do is actually concentrate on my work when I'm busy. Marjorie, don't stress yourself finishing those files for me, I'll not be looking til tomorrow, so you can take your time :) And Loria, it's nice to have an update from you! :)
I wouldn't bother posting it here, but I think if I say here I'm not doing it I'll have to stick to it.
Fingers crossed :)

I can't remember if I posted the other day that I'd added the titles of some essays I intend to write at the thoughts section of pieces of me. Anyway, I put a couple more there.

Maybe I need to sort my life out, but first I just wanted to say hoo-bloody-rah. People take this book far too seriously. I thought it was funny, but if I thought I was anything like her, I'd cry.

I just did this earth-friendliness quiz at the New Internationalist website. Now I think I'm pretty damned earth-friendly and socially responsible. But the scores range from '75+ Planet pleaser', through '50-59 Green novice', to 'under 40 Get a life'.
I got 34.
I really need to have a long, hard think about how I live.

New journal entry.

Oh for God's sake. Get a life.

Women are jailed in the UK far more often for petty crime than men (can't find any source for that right now, but women are jailed for things like shoplifting where men would get a fine or suspended sentence, even when there are extenuating circumstances for the woman). According to this report, this policy causes more problems than it solves. It suggests considering smaller 'community prisons' or community service instead.

If he wants to die, let him die. What's the point of keeping him alive - they're never going to release him. I can't imagine anything more horrendous than someone putting a tube up my nose to feed me by force. I mean, I know he did some evil things, but he's still human (although I know some people would disagree....) Just let him die in peace.

I am a peach!! Woohoo!!!!
And everyone who's emailed me and left me messages the last few days... you're all wonderful. Raaaaar.
3:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2001
I've added a new journal entry. And in the next week or two I'll be adding another section to my site, including the piece of writing that I'm talking about in the journal entry. I won't be linking it from my main site, so if you want to know where it is, email me.
12:21 p.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2001
I want to download the screensaver in this article - it's like the seti @ home thing, but for cancer research. But my boss would freak. Everyone else should though :)

Hope you like the quote I've added over on the left. I find it inspirational. Just as if you glare and shout at people and treat them badly, they will spread that to everyone else they meet, you can choose to spread happiness and joy. Try and do this a set number of times a day. It will come back to you, I promise.

My writing is frustrating me today. I've added some more to my journal entry from earlier, but it still doesn't say all I want it to say.
4:14 p.m., Monday, April 2, 2001
I'm curious. About who reads this site. About why they do. About what they read here.
Mostly I link this pita in guestbooks and the like because I'm scared that people will go look at pieces of me, see plain black and purple and think 'oh this is boring' and not bother reading anything. But I'm scared that there are only two or three people who see 'new journal entry' or that I've updated something else on the site and bother going to read it. No one has ever mentioned anything from my resolutions or my life list. Has anyone read them?
I have a plan. But I'm not sure how to implement it. And envy.nu is a pain. I keep getting a message (for about the past two months) saying that envy does not allow external linking of images, even though it's an envy site linking an envy file. But when I sent Tricia the URL for the page she could see the picture. So I just don't know. And I can't even faff round with it right now because envy's down!
One day, you will see the ideas that are in my head. Just not today.
Oh.... and why do you come here? What do you read?

I thought this article about the reasons people don't bother to vote was interesting.
1:38 p.m., Monday, April 2, 2001
I've got a new journal entry at pieces of me and the about, thanks, links and will be sections have all been updated.

I get an 'A Word A Day' email daily from wordsmith.org. Every so often they send out information about the list, which countries are on it, etc, and I just received the latest. It contained some information about Niue, which is the country with .nu websites. I thought you might be interested.....
Niue (pronounced new-way)
Domain name : nu
Location : South Pacific Ocean
Capital : Alofi
Area : 100 sq miles
Population : 2000
Languages spoken : Niuean (a Polynesian dialect), English
Flag : http://wordsmith.org/awad/flags/nu1.gif
A native of Niue is a : Niuean
Interesting tidbits : The domain name nu is also the 13th letter of the Greek alphabet. In Yiddish, it could mean "So?" "How are things?" etc. It sounds like "new" in English and in many Scandinavian languages nu means "now," so this domain name is popular among non-Niueans, as well.

Well the overwhelming feeling from my guestbook seems to be that the colours are good but the links weren't clear enough. They seemed clear enough to me but I made the grey darker - any better?
