...so this is the crap that fills my head...

Alan (he's the fifth from the left all-in black tall guy) got his degree classification today.

He got his first.

I am SO proud of him I could cry. He's done so well.

(and that weird building in the background is central hall. the campus of this uni is weird.)

Ok. There are loads of things that I've been meaning to post for ages. And it's getting to the stage of post, or delete the bookmarks. So here we go....

Ever wondered what you get if you cross a zebra with a pony?

This is freaky.

And I'm sure this has been proved in clinical trials at least once before. Girls - drink cranberry juice. It's good for you.

Yes I know it's not getting done the three million things I have to do today....

- 7 things you are afraid of: 1. death 2. spiders 3. big bridges 4.snakes 5. public humiliation 6. my parents finding out all the things I've been hiding from them 7. losing people I love

- 7 things that make you laugh: 1. Paul 2.Eddie Izzard videos 3. being drunk 4. hissyfit 5. Buffy 6. South Park 7. my friends

- 7 things that make you cry: 1. sad films, programmes, adverts… yeah I'm pathetic 2. fear 3. injustice in the world 4. missing those I love 5. being powerless to prevent those I love from harm, even though I know you can't protect people 6. when people don't care about the state of the world and don't realise they can help. 7. frustration and sadness

- 7 things I love: only seven? OK… 1. Paul 2. my family and friends 3. babies (*shut up*) 4. animals. especially lil' fluffy ones. 5. being at ease with myself 6. the feeling of satisfaction you get when you complete something that has been hanging over your head for ages 7. nights sitting chatting for hours with people I love… connecting

- 7 things I don't understand: 1. why people support the death penalty without seeming to realise that it is not only inhumane, lowering the justice system to the level of the criminal or lower, but doesn't even act as a deterrent. 2. why we as a society spend so much more time at work than we do with our families and friends - we don't get very long on this planet. Why do we waste it like this? 3. why people hurt the ones the love the most 4. love. I know it when I see it, but I don't understand. And maybe that's a good thing 5. where the time goes 6. rabid christians 7. people who perpetuate stereotypes and hate women or black people or homosexuals or…. You get the picture.

- 7 things on my desk: 1. my computer, which has a blu-tac snail and a beanie baby crab on it 2. my light-reactive nail varnish that changes from mid blue to light blue in sunlight 3. my exciting clear frosted plastic desk tidy 4. (it's all work stuff, I'm sorry!) my letter trays 5. my phone 6. a tub of foldback clips 7. my blotter, which has on it my work diary and an A4 pad.

- Right now you are: 1. in work (d'oh!) 2. tired (been sleeping badly) 3. looking forward to seeing Paul in a couple of hours 3. wishing my hay fever would go 4. fidgety 5. listening to Radio 1 (it's crap) 6. wishing for more of a holiday than going back to my parents next week 7. feeling like I should be working

- 7 facts about you: 1. I've lost two stone in the last year or so (without trying) and I'm more unhappy with my body than I was before 2. I don't eat meat or dairy products 3. I get frustrated with my inability to take decent photos 4. I wish I knew more 'minority' people as it feels like my friend base is largely made up of white middle class (read this widely!) people who may 'experiment' but who are largely straight and I feel this restricts my life view 5. I am scared to speak out about the big things, but have no qualms shouting at people for little ones 6. I find humour everywhere but I found it really hard to fill in the list of things that make me laugh 7. I think I'm taking this far too seriously!

- 7 things to do before I die: 1.Go totally vegan 2. have kids - two or three. 3. make a difference 4. get my writing published 5. have enough money to give loads away 6. get married 7. forgive myself. and love myself.

New livejournal entry. Go me.

,01:43 p.m., Thursday, June 28, 2001
I edited that survey post so the questions were bold, but it's not showing up. Grrrr.

,01:32 p.m., Thursday, June 28, 2001
I woke up one hour 35 minutes late today. And still was only 45 minutes late for work. Gotta be impressed. But noone was bothered because they know I've been sleeping really badly with the hay fever recently. I've not slept through a whole night in longer than I can remember. And I had a nosebleed at 5.37 this morning from blowing my nose so much. Nice.

Nakedness in public - good or bad? Is our bad reaction to do with body insecurity, fear of accepting who and what people are, or what? I don't know how far I agree with the bloke in this article, but he's definitely got a point.

And I can't decide on another song... I think I'll have to go for something by NIN... maybe Closer or We're in this together.

Work to do, ho hum. And Paul is coming down tonight. He should be here about 6.30pm, a full 24 hours ahead of normal schedule, and a mere five hours away. We're going out tonight for the end of term and all that. And tomorrow it's Vicky's housewarming. Should be fun. Anyway, the upshot of it is that I won't have much time to post the next couple of days as next week I'm on leave from Tuesday lunchtime as one sister is graduating and the other is being confirmed. So if there's a dearth of posts (I like the word dearth) for the next week or so that will be why.

So this would be a (short) survey stolen from Nora...

- 3 people i'd like to kill: There's only one. And the name would mean nothing to you. Someone I knew in first year at uni. Oh and I suppose Slobodan (sp?) Milosevic and Saddam Hussein, if I've got the chance to rid the planet of them. But I'm still anti death penalty. Work that out.
- 3 things i'd like to eat right now: 1. chocolate - plain, with no dairy products involved. 2. Phileas Fogg Tortilla Chips. 3. cake. of any variety
- 3 of my favorite words/phrases: (by favourite I'm going for 'overused') 1. 'mare (as in nightmare) 2. riiiiiiiiight... 3. it'll be fine (generally said with panicky gleam in eyes)
- 3 of my favorite alcoholic beverages: 1. Amaretto (mmmm.... alcoholic marzipaaaan....) 2.lager 3. would be sheridans, which is heaven in a glass, but it contains dairy stuff so I'll have to go for vodka.
- 3 things you have to be happy about: 1. I know I'm with the right person, forever. 2. My hayfever isn't as bad as yesterday. 3. Paul gets here tomorrow!... what, only three? I'm carrying on!... 4. My sister graduates next week. 5. I'm going out tomorrow night and to a housewarming party Friday night 6. I'm going to visit my parents next week - Tuesday to Saturday (which also means I'm on leave, which is nice). 7. I got my vew version of pieces of me up and running, finally. (subtle, doncha think?)
- 3 things you would like to change right now: 1. I'd like to totally get rid of all my allergies - that's hayfever and asthma gone in one fell swoop! 2. I wanna live in Newcastle. 3. I wish I had my reflexology qualification, right here right now.
- 3 things you seriously can't live without: 1. Music. All of it. 2. Love. 3. The phone....
- 3 songs everyone should hear: 1. Silent All These Years - Tori. 2. Every time you touch me - Moby. 3. errr..... there are so many!... I'm sorry, I'll have to add one later. I have to go right now.

I've written a new journal entry, but envy appears to be down so you'll have to wait till tomorrow.

New livejournal entry.

Good weekend. There are things I want to write, but I think they may have to wait for the minute. But if you've not been to pieces of me recently, go look. You may find out all kinds of fascinating snippets about me.

"practice random kindness and acts of senseless beauty"

go on... go out and do this now. leave some money in the coffee machine so someone gets a free drink. wash someone else's coffee mug in work without telling them. buy a friend flowers 'just because'. stick up a poem on a noticeboard. go and ask in an old people's home if there is anyone who doesn't ever get visitors and sit with them for a while. smile at a stranger. let someone pull out of a side street in front of you. call your mum or dad or grandparents to tell them you love them. make someone a cake. draw this saying and stick it on a noticeboard where people will see.

spread beauty through your life. you can change the world like this.
