An interesting report was brought to my attention this morning, it is a small study to see who owns each letter of the alphabet online (using google as is only good and proper).. Some of the results are quite interesting.

I've just read this apology from Saddam on CNN, i am still not quite sure if it is a spoof or not.
"We apologize to you," Saddam said in a statement read by Information Minister Mohammad Said al-Sahhafa on Iraqi TV. "What we wish for you is what we wish for your brothers in Iraq -- to live free from foreign rule and intervention in your wealth and future."
He urged Kuwait "to remain free and faithful by not allying yourself with the aggressors," and warned Kuwaitis that the United States would "steal your wealth and turn you into slaves working for them and turn your leaders into local agents for American oil companies (more..)

I've been sitting here, trying to decide which of the cartoons i used to watch as a kid was the best. The 80's was, IMO, the best time for being a kid where cartoons are concerned, the stuff today is just all the same and pretty bland i think. So time to start looking for some links to my faves.
I think i will start with Thundercats, mainly because i don't remember it as well as some of the others.. Though i have to say, i don't remember all of the characters mentioned, most of them seem familiar enough, Snarf..
Where next? He-Man or his very stupidly thought up relation, She-Ra.. Maybe not, while He-man started well, it soon became quite boring.
Now we can move onto the cream of the Cartoon World, The Mysterious Cities of Gold. By far my favourite cartoon when i was a kid, it was just great. Though there were several other good ones following behind it. In no particular order, here are a few other faves.
Dungeons and Dragons DangerMouse Gummi Bears Scooby Doo
And last, but not least, the cartoon where everybody overacted in the style of William Shatner.. Ulysses 31.. Ahh, sweet memories.

Friday, December 6, 2002 I'm not normally one for online comics, there are just too many of them out there with the same old jokes. But Boondocks made me laugh a lot.. Very funny and well worth a read.

A major survey of global public opinion has found increasing anti-Americanism. The findings show that the feeling is stronger in Muslim countries, which is not much of a surprise. The Report has been done by the Pew Research Centre and is very interesting reading.

I'm not sure what to make of the Frogpad, it looks quite amusing and fun, but i would guess that it would be a complete nightmare to use. Which is pretty much what i would say for the Halfkeyboard as well.. It is no accident that none of the 'Special' keyboards have really taken off, they are all a bit wierd really.. Then again, as i haven't tried any of them, i suppose i shouldn't really judge.

Apparantly, Will Smith is tipped to be starring in an adaption of Asimov's I, Robot.. Lets hope its better than the last attempt to bring Asimov to the cinema, i'm sure we all would like to forget Bicentennial Man

Although i haven't read them myself, the 'Dark Materials' books by Philip Pullman are supposed to be a good read. Well, good news for all those people who think so, the series is going to be dramatised on BBC Radio 4 in the new year. Luckily for anyone not in the uk, you can listen to Radio 4 live on the net.

The photo's themselves look like a bunch of abstracts.. But they are in fact pictures of the Earth from outer space, and they look realy good.. The story is here and the pictures are here.. They are part of the "Earth as Art" exhibition.

A couple of interesting bits of news have caught my attention this morning, both involving the internet funnily enough. First, Napster is back.. Well, almost.. The second bit of news is concerning the Net as a whole, apparently the risk of the Net itself collapsing due to attack is growing due partly to over commercialisation.. Oh yeah. Check out Textarc if you have a fast enough machine. You need :
600 Mhz Pentium III or faster
1024 x 768 pixel screen or higher resolution, 16 bit color
Windows NT, Windows 2000, or Windows XP operating systems
256 Mb of RAM
A fast internet connection
No other memory-intensive programs running
Netscape 6.2 (the most recent) browser (RECOMMENDED for fastest Java)
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or 6 browser (slower, but workable

I have tended to lose things from time to time, keys mainly.. Though on occasion when drunk, i've managed to lose important things like wallets and money. You have to wonder how drunk the controllers in Moscow were to go and lose a Satellite.. Vodka anyone..
On a slightly related note, there is soon to be a postal service to the moon.. You will be able to send business cards or cremated relatives up there for a fee... Find out more in the Herald Tribune

Wednesday, November 27, 2002 Over here inthe UK, we have a tv series called 2DTV which is a cartoon series taking the piss out of celebrities and politicians the world over. It is normal practice to run adverts, telling the public that a program is due to be back on the air in the near future. Over here you have to send the advert to the BACC for them to rate them and make sure that there is nothing bad in them.. Now for some reason, the weirdo's at BACC have banned an advert featuring Dubya Bush, because it would offend him :-).. My question is this.. How can you offend someone who doesn't even know what the word means.. LOL

Tuesday, November 26, 2002 In Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy, when the Earth was threatened with destuction, the Dolphins tried to warn the humans in a variety of diferent ways, but of course the Humans didn't understand what was happening. I think perhaps that the Spiders are trying to do the same thing.

Do you have an interesting Desk at work or home ? Thought not. Not really that important is it.. Somewhere to house the PC and some paperwork is all its there for.. I will admit that mine is a tad messy, but this one beats it hands down, at least i know what colour mine is.. :-)

I used to love Tintin, i read all the comic books several years ago and am constantly trying to find them in second hand book shops, though it seems an impossible task, i don't think anyone wants to part with them. Thankfully, Channel 4 started to show the Cartoons, so all hope was not lost. Since the cartoons stopped being shown though, i have had nothing to console myself with, apart from maybe Wheel of Time and more recently, The Malazan Books..
Until now. Tintin, is coming back, and to the Cinema, my life can be complete again..
