missing and wishing

Outing plan with zes yesterday finally materialized! We headed to sentosa for a tanning session. What's more relaxing than a day on the beach with a friend, under the hot hot sun, with pretty blue cloudless sky hovering, and the soft soft sand that our feet sink into - i know not. I only know the waters were soothing and we haven’t unwound like this for really long. But as usual, the girl whose motto is if you fail to plan, you plan to fail already had the day’s schedule imbedded in her mind and it was particularly ironic that we had to stop our rest-and-relax by the beach session and run-and-rush off to our next destination – school! We had a mind to surprise the OC people by visiting them in hall but apparently it failed terribly. Haha, had lunch with them and I finally satisfied my craving for arts canteen yong tau foo! Watched Dance Uncensored video on aprilyn’s lap (FINALLY) and it really made me miss our dancing days at the function room, preparing for dance uncensored, learning a whole new dance in just a week, waiting in anticipation and anxiety at the UCC backstage. Then played tennis with zes alvin and kwan aik. I haven’t worked my bones for a really long time.

But you know, as much as you plan sometimes, plans fail you. We couldn’t keep to zes’ well-planned schedule and didn’t have time to drop by the sales. Had dinner with the girls after that.

and I had cravings for bubble tea!
look how cranky miss yeo looks!

Italy won! :) I missed it though. I couldn’t bring myself away from hippo and the bed despite being half awake. France must win tonight! Bye people, till I come back on Sunday for World Cup Finals, Butter Factory, TH Councillor Camp and everything nice!

funky

Wahh read yiwen's blog and decided to put this up too. The Funkygrad.com writers did an unofficial NUS Hall Guide.

Culture:
TH has dominated the NUS sports scene. Overall IHG Champions since 1991, this proud tradition has only been broken twice, in the 1997/1998 season and 2005/2006 season.

and then..

Hush hush:
TH dancers seem to be attracting much attention. During a combined hall dance performance (Dance Uncensored) last year, they almost stripped to their skin.

WE DID?!?! Hahahaha.

i still wish

Whee! I haven't been online for a really long time! All because mr fong yi kit borrowed my laptop for so long. But now with his dearest eileen finally back from beijing, i think i'll see more of my lappie and less of my punggol friend. And with meilin away at bangkok for four days, me for the next four days when she comes back, and sanduo away for SOF selection, i'll be missing my pals aplenty!

We had softball training at SRC yesterday! Alvin kindly conducted training and there were no other TH players except me. Siong qun, sanduo, jiting, meilin and royston joined us and we pretty had much batting and throwing under the hot hot sun.

Then we had birthday dinner at royston's house! Food was good, photos were great and we proceeded to watch England vs Portugal. I can't believe SEVENTEEN people were watching in the house! Haha, i never watch with so many friends before. It was a disappointing match definitely. England was struggling at midfield with Beckham's absence halfway due to his injury and Rooney the lone striker was sent off the field. I didn't think Portugal played very well either, especially since England was already down and the two Portuguese players were missing from the line-up. The penalty shoots were pretty exciting! Meilin and i were locking shoulders like the teams (haha) and sanduo they all were holding hands. Can't believe Lampard and Gerrard missed! Sigh. So my old favourite England is gone, though i pretty much don't love them like the last World Cup anymore.

Then, most of them came to PUNGGOL coffeeshop to watch France vs Brazil!! Hahaha, i was really shocked that the whole 15 (i think) bunch of us drove down here to watch. So convenient for me la. Anyway, i almost forgot i used to root for France last time! But they exited way too early the last World Cup. I thought Brazil would win, but yesterday France played brilliantly! The defence was strong and the samba soccer team simply couldnt break through. And Zidane was still ever so skillful! So is old favourite Thierry. Will be rooting for France to bank the trophy home and i can't decide between Italy and Germany for the finals. Probably Italy though i have a feeling the Germans may win.

Met up with boon and chel last night! Ate modan yaki - something we used to get excited over and rush down to eat after school a long long time ago! Gosh, we're old.

The past few days had been spent working at Citibank with zes. It is the ultimate most boring temp job i've ever done! We had to tear and staple papers and we actually microfilmed 5000 sheets of paper on one day! It was super sai gang la. I had a mind to extend when the supervisor asked me but now, nono tomorrow shall be my last day of work! Anyway zes and i had already planned an exciting tuesday ahead and not even earning some extra bucks will make us go back to Citibank! But we certainly had our share of fun going crazy over our stupid tasks and laughing over silly matters and surprising each other with our office wear. Haha.

Past few days had been pretty much eventful. Had 69 class dinner, watched soccer with meilin and jinfu at the hongkong cafe (with much laughter and gossips!), meilin stayed over and we chatted from 2am till 8am!! Glad i confided in her -something i never really told people and always wanted to share with her. Also watched royston at SAFSA baseball league with the guys, went siong qun's house to watch soccer, had dinner with bernard and charlene and played mahjong at ber's house with alan after that, watched Argentina vs Netherlands with yikit, watched Lord of the Ring Trilogy at home, eileen's ktv surprise for yikit, Kimage haircut and Ben&Jerry's (Dublin Mudslide, Chunky Monkey, Strawberry Cheesecake, Black Raspberry, Sweet Cookie and Cream, New York Super Fudge!!) with jiting siongqun yikit.. Whhee! Love B&J!!

This June had passed really quickly unknowingly, unlike May where time was really crawling by. I still didnt quite stay home and have time to myself or learn anything i wanted to learn. Half a July will be left before i'll disappear into the greens and whites of Temasek, and i am certainly looking forward to a new semester ahead. With all the new faces and familiar ones ahead, and changes to come and constants to be made, i'm rather scared and excited.

Photos at waikit's big birthday bash!

take a piece of each other
everywhere we go

Two days of work at Shangri-La Hotel for the Euro SEA Conference ended today. I was so tired and felt kinda sick i skipped outing in town with ml zes kev and kai's bday to go home and sleep! :/ Anyways, the job was great. We were simply paid to do some really simple tasks like registering the delegates and asking them to fill in the attendance list but MOST of the time, we were simply sitting around and eating! We get to eat after their coffee breaks and lunch and it's SHANGRI-LA so imagine all the good food. There's this chocolate mousse cake sitting on a slice of kueh lapis and topped with tiny rich chocolate balls - half the size of my palm that costs $8 each! And all the fruit tarts and spring rolls and puffs and raisin rolls and sugar coated muffins we stuffed ourselves silly.. there was no need for lunch and dinner at all! And i love the ambience of the hotel! The first and last time i've been there was for senior's prom. The lush carpted floors, the luxurious chandelier lights, the spacious walkway, the large paintings all add to the sheer grandeur and splendor of the premium hotel. And the organizers from the European Comission who were in charge of us were really really nice. They were French and i admired and listened in awe as they spoke the beautiful and elegant language that i always yearned to learn. Not to mention this cute french we all love! Hahaha. In short, we're paid $8 per hour to slack! :D

Went for waikit's 21st birthday party last night. I haven't seen my angel for soooo long! :) Glad we chatted a little and will see him around as my junior when school starts! Hahaha. Will upload photos after lazy char uploads.

leave no man behind

I watched Black Hawk Down yesterday on tv for the second time and i thought it was weird that it only made an impact on me this time. The film was really engaging and i stayed glued to my sofa for three freaking hours. It was the vivid, raw scenes of destruction and the absolute horror of war the film explicitly brought across that i was so drawn to. The film focused solely on the war, no main character nor single hero with any undying ability and romanticise the story. And all the camaderie between the soldiers, chivalry and courage in adversity that survived the test. They stick closely to their belief of leaving no man behind. It is such a powerful and realistic representation of one of America's biggest modern military blunders already made history, and i feel as if i'm right there at the hostile zone. Whoa, one of the best war films i've ever seen.

Hoot: When I get home people 'll ask me, "Hey Hoot, why do you do it man? Why? You some war junkie?" You know what I'll say? I won't say a goddamn word. Why? They won't understand. They won't understand why we do it. They won't understand that it's about the men next to you, and that's it. That's all it is.
