transmission |:| Operation Meteor again I should be asleep right now, but I just spent about 45 minutes writing another part of the Operation Meteor history that's posted on the info page. Yes, I am a dork. This part actually deals with León Catalonia, Dorothy's father. At the end of the TV series, she reveals that war killed her father, and we've never really addressed that in SnK before. With my Catalonia history and the political intrigue between Dermail and other Federation leaders, I thought it would be interesting if León had been the victim of political manipulations relating to Operation Meteor. Anyway, the new part is at the end of the original OM essay...read and enjoy. Also, I posted a little thing on the fighting styles of the pilots, which Quicksilver once blogged about here (don't know if you remember.) Also a very big thank you to Carolyn, who emailed me tonight with a great explanation on Treize and his motives and ideals. I know I already said it, but that essay helps a lot! Gerald joined Sally's rebellion at 12:43 a.m. I am now on ep 45 of GW...should finish the series before the end of the week. I've been taking notes and noticing a lot of things I missed on my first viewing of the series (which was about a year and a half ago ^^;) Can you believe that November marks our second anniversary of writing SnK?? The scary thing is that it will probably take us another year to finish this damn thing. I've become quite attached to it, however...I can't quite imagine life without it, as it has pretty much BECOME my life for the most part. I updated the mirror site and also edited some of the story this weekend. Probably nothing that you would notice if you went back and read - mostly it was spelling and such, though I did do a semi-overhaul of Relena's section in Act 1 and changed a few mistakes in Acts 9 and 10. There are still some timeline mistakes that I have yet to go back and correct in earlier acts because I am lazy and don't feel like doing it right now. XD Speaking of updates, I spent last night drawing out the Catalonia/Khushrenada/Noventa family tree. Our family tree is significantly different from the canon one, and I didn't want people to get confused. Go here to read it. There's a pictorial representation as well in case you get confused (even I got confused after writing it!) As QS mentioned, 10.4 will be long. But worth the wait, I promise. ^_^ Gerald joined Sally's rebellion at 04:01 a.m. Well, lightning does strike twice in a week.... we managed to get this update done on time, probably because it's such a short section. Please note that the DF/Shin scene was dropped into 10.2 - not that it's a huge deal. Slow part, but necessary - really dealt with position the characters, and establishing one of the OC's (Lopez) for a bit. Lopez is another one of those, and he's a bit Mary Sue, unfortunately. It's damn hard to write him. Hard trying to write about someone smarter than you are! He was a bit whacked, if I do say so myself. Ger accused him of being an Akio (from Utena) wannabe. I needed to have some action in the scene, so he ended up stargazing... the section was originally going to be called something else, but since that title has been changed to be a major plot of somehting else, it's on hold! Still, the reason Lopez was used was simply because Quatre needed someone to shake a few brain cells loose, preferabley someone who didn't know him and would be able to outsmart him without Quatre realize what was happening. That's Lopez. Lopez is one of the major reasons Sally was caught... he helped Brown piece the puzzle of the data dump from Shinji's death together. I've called this my "let's beat up on Quatre" act. He was getting his act together, and now we're throwing punches at him... Oh, it's FUN! And it's gonna get messier... Ger's two scenes in this act were things I can't touch. Trowa and Catherine, finally getting to see their reunion and some repercussions of his leaving on their relationship.... and Heero and Relena's reunion. It's a scene Ger wrote... about six months ago, I think? It's old, and had to be tweaked somewhat, but I still think it's powerful.... there's no more secrets between Heero and Relena now. Ger shipped me his Wufei scene which will close the act.... and MAN is it good, but DAMN is it long. like, the length of two, maybe three, normal scenes. But trust me, it's worth it. Ger will also write Zechs' return... I have Une's return slated, along with Hilde (I know some people want to see her again!) and... the return of a character people thought we'd forgotten about. ^_~ quicksilver joined Sally's rebellion at 11:53 p.m. I'm done with my scenes for this week's update and am actually halfway through a 10.4 scene, but I'm blogging cause I'm taking a break and it's 2 in the morning and I should be in bed. But I want to finish this. XD I was actually surprised that 10.2 turned out as well as it did. I had some problems writing Etille, mostly because it had been so long since I'd done anything with him or thought about him that I had a hard time getting into his head. I think adding Wufei in balanced out the section, though. And as QS said earlier, Heero, Trowa, and Wufei are really my characters, so helped with the pilots scene also. I realize I have not updated the mirror site since summer, and I apologize. I'll have it up to date this weekend, hopefully. I've been watching Gundam Wing again...am on episode 27 right now and I've been taking some notes to help with brainstorming for the last few acts of SnK. What I'm actually focusing on now is Treize: how he perceives his own ideals, how other people perceive him. And I want to know...is Treize right? Many people (Une in particular, but others) regard his ideals as the "true meaning of war" but he's always struck me as a little shady. At what point do nobility and beauty as Treize describe them turn into self-delusion and self-justification for one's own actions? Anyway, if anyone wants to respond to this or just give me their thoughts on Treize, feel free to email us or leave a note in the guestbook. version 6 | act 10 [I HOPE YOU DANCE] Trowa and Catherine It's here! The authors' weblog for Sainan no Kekka, so you guys can see what we're working when the world of SnK is hiding behind the webpage during the week. Just what you always wanted, right? For those of you visiting for the first time, Sainan no Kekka is a fanfiction sequel to the anime Gundam Wing. SnK, as it's commonly abbreviated, discards the "canon" OVA sequel Endless Waltz and instead explores an alternate possibility. What if the identity of the Gundam pilots was found out by the general public two years after the war ended? What consequences would this have on the pilots? GERALD TARRANT FIC SPOTLIGHT As we are a fanfiction partnership, Quicksilver and I feel that it is only fitting that we introduce some of the great Gundam Wing fanfic works that exist. While Sainan no Kekka is our only GW fanfiction, there are certainly plenty other fics out there that deserve recognition. This column will spotlight one fic a month that we feel embodies the qualities of what makes a Gundam Wing fanfic great.
And the spotlight for OCTOBER is...Blessed by Lady Akemi We meant to spotlight this in July, but forgot about updating the blog for a while, so here's an early October present for you. Be prepared for something serious, dark, and pretty depressing, but if you like Gundam Wing fanfiction that fits with the canon and explores some of the themes from the series, this one will surely satisfy you and then some. Lady Akemi's portrayal of King Nathaniel and Queen Katrina of the Cinq Kingdom, the parents of Zechs and Relena, in the final days of their reign is a powerful and extremely moving one. She not only tells the story of the fall of the kingdom and the end of a line, but she delves down deep into the psyche of the royal couple as well as those close to them. Far from being the perfect monarchs memorialized in legend and in the memories of their children, Nathaniel and Katrina face the same weaknesses, worries, and jealousies of any human being as they struggle to save their kingdom. I'll be honest and say this is one of the best GW fanfics I've ever read. Not only that, but it fits perfectly with the SnK storyline. If you haven't read this, what are you waiting for?
