Quatre, Dorothy, Li
Song Lyrics
It's here! The authors' weblog for Sainan no Kekka, so you guys can see what we're working when the world of SnK is hiding behind the webpage during the week.
Just what you always wanted, right?
For those of you visiting for the first time, Sainan no Kekka is a fanfiction sequel to the anime Gundam Wing. SnK, as it's commonly abbreviated, discards the "canon" OVA sequel Endless Waltz and instead explores an alternate possibility. What if the identity of the Gundam pilots was found out by the general public two years after the war ended? What consequences would this have on the pilots? On the people who considered them to be friends? On the newly developed World Nation and Preventers military organization?
Sainan no Kekka is located at midnight revolution.org/gundam. We also are mirrored at Gundam Wing Addiction. We update every Saturday with a new part of the story. If you're interested, please drop by! If you're a returning reader, we hope this blog gives you something to laugh at, ponder, or just read when you're bored.

FIC SPOTLIGHT
As we are a fanfiction partnership, Quicksilver and I feel that it is only fitting that we introduce some of the great Gundam Wing fanfic works that exist. While Sainan no Kekka is our only GW fanfiction, there are certainly plenty other fics out there that deserve recognition. This column will spotlight one fic a month that we feel embodies the qualities of what makes a Gundam Wing fanfic great.
And the spotlight for AUGUST/SEPTEMBER is...The Drums of Heaven by Zefyr

With a new layout comes a new recommendation.
To be honest, Ger and I have stopped trying to find fics, simply because the fandom isn’t what we would like it to be. There’s few writers who truly dare to either be different, or have the skills to write something old into something new.
Well, I’m pleased to say I’ve finally found some writers I do like again, and it’s pulling me back into fandom.
The Drums Of Heaven is a great read, and not just because it’s written by a writer who knows what a spellchecker is. Simply put, it’s a piece that should satisfy all the people who love the politics and action of SNK, but want the more homosexual tones of the more mainstream fandom. While the piece hasn’t entirely crossed the line into full-blown yaoi, it’s going there, but doing it with style and ISSUES.
It’s an afterwar piece, set after Endless Waltz, after Heero has left. Around five years later, he’s thrust back into the scene... and it seems Quatre and Wufei have drawn the lines against Trowa and Duo. Interesting... and Hilde is a key player. Relena is handled wonderfully, and the characters have evolved believably over the time period.
Hacker action, terrorist plot, a scummy underworld... it’s got it all.
It’s still in progress, and the author updates almost daily. Great read, great fic, and had something for everyone.

THIS BLOG CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR SAINAN NO KEKKA UP TO THE LAST RELEASED PART OR ACT ON THE WEBPAGE. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! *EVIL LAUGHTER*
trabsmission |:| The Final Lap Of the Race Begins
date |:| Sunday, January 11, 2004
Ger is a slavedriver. You have him to thank for the fact that I'm going to be miserable. ^_~ My work load lightens up during the winter months, so I should actually have some more "free time." Here's hoping that goes according to plan.
SNK will be going into High-Gear in an attempt to complete it by the end of the year.... hopefully halfway through. But... Ger and I are Busy People. So the End of the Year is DEFINITE. Middle of the year is PROBABLE.
As Ger said, the final groups have been set. You'll see me working with the crew on L1 (Shin, Helena, DF and Duo), the crew in the net (Dorothy, Quatre, and Li) and those who have to hope for the best (Une, Catherine and Sylvia). Ger will be doing his awesome battle scenes, so he has everyone else, and probably will end up swiping some people from me, too.
By now this act's layout should be clear - Dorothy, Li and Quatre are my final major plot arc. He he he... I'm so bad. It's what I've been working toward since Act 6 when Ger pounded it into my head that NO this was not going to be a Dorothy/Quatre fic. But when Li came out as such a premier hacker, it began clear that SOMEONE was going to have to take her on... and since Quatre doesn't have a Gundam.... and Dorothy DOES owe him...
*gloats*
Anyway, the pieces are all in position. Now it's time to put them into play.

*dies*
Yeah I think that sums it up. It has taken us about 5 months to finish Act 11, and as much as QS and I think we deserve a break, we're trying to push out Act 12 as fast as we can. Not sacrificing quality of course, but the fic has been uncompleted for long enough!
I only had one section for 11.4, but since I haven't been blogging for a while through 11, let me sum up my thoughts on this act as best as I can.
Act 11 was a lot of tying up loose threads and setting the stage for the final confrontation. If you haven't already noticed, QS and I have been grouping people together through the whole act. In Act 12, there will essentially be 3 groups: the group on L1, the group on the ground, and the group in the air battle actually battling Sally.
Trowa's section here was originally set at the end of Act 10, but it didn't fit so we moved it. It is definitely the pivotal scene for him in SnK. Sally has his Gundam, so he is essentially grounded, and his conduct at Kashimir reveals the conflict inside of him as to how he views war. Trowa never knew Treize in the series, so while the TV series taught him important things about friendship, he never had to deal with the war on a purely personal basis. Here, facing Sally, he experiences the pain and guilt that Wufei experienced in the series when he killed Trieze. Duo's "She wasn't a fanatic...she was my friend" is the line he desperately clings to, trying to decide what the terms "enemy" and "friend" truly mean
That isn't to say there is an answer, because that's the answer that all our characters are searching for, and they haven't come to a conclusion yet. And far be it from me to say that I have the answer, because I certainly don't. But it's an interesting concept that the TV series addressed and which we have taken a bit farther.
Wufei's and Zechs's sections were written in order for them to conquer some of their inner demons. Wufei finally resolves his guilt over Meilan's, Treize's, and Varis' death here, at least somewhat. It's not a total healing, but it is the beginning of one. I also did the scene I've been waiting to do for a long time, where Zechs and Relena see each other again. You realize that this is the first time they have met in this story? >.>
The meeting didn't have such great results, as you can see by Relena's actions afterwards, but I think her course of action was a very natural one. Relena has been maturing rapidly in the course of SnK, and this is her final realization: that she is queen, that no one is going to take the title away from her, and that she has to be able to go out and protect her nation. Taking Epyon out might not be the most rational course of action, but it is a marked difference from the Relena we saw in the first half of SnK. Instead of being passive, she is now being proactive.
Our New Year's Resolution this year is to finish SnK before the end of the year, and we're trying as hard as we can to keep it. As I said on the main page, estimated posting dates for Act 12 are Jan 24, Feb 14, and Feb 28. Act 12 is the end of the main story and Act 13 is the epilogue, so with 2 acts left to go, I think we can manage. We'll see what happens.
The soundtrack is woefully lacking in updates, as are some of the pages in the information section and biographies. I will say that those are things that will probably have to wait till Act 13 is complete, as I don't have much time to work on them, but I'll see what I can do.
Look for a new blog layout soon, and maybe even a new site layout. And as always, thank you for reading.

And it's DONE! Quatre has been tried and... well, what the HECK happened?
Originally we were going to go with the "not guilty" verdict... Une storms in, rouses the Senate, and proclaims him not guilty. Heat of the moment, and all. But... the thing is, Ger and I both believe Quatre is a war criminal.
Wait... you're kidding, right? No, no we're not. Thanks to the stellarsoldiers ML, it's become more and more clear that Quatre VIOLATED THE RULES OF WARFARE. He did so QUITE clearly, and millions died. The others could probably be excused (even though I have issues with Trowa and the circus thing - he was still advancing the military cause) but Quatre's blowing up colonies was kinda pushing it.
But he's also a hero. Many people in the world view him as such... so there's that line. Allowances will be made for heroes - it's the winners who write the history books, after all.
So it kinda just happened. I was stressing out about this section, and it CLICKED. Boom - mistrial. No winners, no losers, and the fact that Quatre is now a government teacher's DREAM. They will always argue this...
This isn't Quatre's ending, though. ^_~
I hope everyone liked how the trio of girls came in, and yes, Une kicks ass.
My other section was Shin/Helena and DF. Ger finally got Sally after 11 acts (and I'm pouting, but it was necessary) so I stole DF. I think people can see where some of this is heading, now?
There is, at most, ten parts left. We'll be finishing Act 11 by the end of the year... which leaves 2 more acts. We're hoping to finish those by June, but they'll definitely be done by the end of 2004.

I'm sure it seems to many people that SNK is crawling along at a pace of a snail, but we do have a good defense. Ger is moving to Japan, and as he prepares, he's not around much. He's been taking some heavy-duty classes, and the fact of the matter is that I am now working sixty hours a week - and I'm now a professional writer. I do this for my living, and sometimes I just "dun wanna write" as I whine.
But that's neither here nor there.
The amusing thing is that the first part of Act 11 was as long as our entire Act 1, way back when we began. I sent it to our ML, and it came through to my inbox as over 250 K. Yikes.
Anyway, as usual, I wrote the trial scenes. This isn't about Quatre yet (his main scene is later on) but about his main supports - his sisters. I hope the differences in their personalities came through. Reeshya, Yaminah and Jaffa are the sisters who are currently at the trial, but I'm sure Aisha is probably around somewhere. Or maybe she's back at the business... not really concerned.
Jaffa is a SCARY cookie. I think her scene with Banks shows she and Quatre really aren't that different. Ger and I were discussing what her threat really meant - it's probably not death, but there are things worse than that.
The truth about Zarifa is finally revealed (I know her name has inspired some questions before!) and I think people shouldn't be surprised. It's the SNK "it's a small world" philosophy we subscribe to. She was killed early on in the war, and I can see his family burying it to protect him. I'm not sure which sisters knew, but Jaffa definitely had something to do with it. As the lawyer, Yaminah was probably let in on it sometime... she and Zarifa are relatively close in age.
Banks has had his world-view shaken. I think his "nothing but the truth" attitude is the scariest thing for a journalist. He believes that all the information should be available, and then people should make their own decisions. He doesn't believe in leaders. He only believes in himself. But... Trowa says that when decisions have to be made, it just happens that SOMEONE has to do it.
That's a leader.
The issue at hand in the trial isn't whether Quatre committed the actions of a Gundam pilot - he DID. The issue is whether his actions constitute war crimes. Right now Fatima is muddying the waters, but when she begins to pull out her big guns, Quatre is in deep shit. Of all the pilots, he is the one who is most easily pegged as a war criminal.
I hope people enjoyed the battle scenes. Those were Ger's, of course, but we've been working up to them. It was Trowa's big moment.... and should illustrate the changes in him. The evolution between Act 8, when he killed my sweet Ilene, and now, when he couldn't kill Sally, should show that he's no longer the blind follower he once was.
Duo really shook him up with hiss accusation, ne?
quicksilver hacked into Li's computers at 12:18 p.m. trabsmission |:| Initial Notification of an Update!
date |:| Wednesday, August 20, 2003
We all experience certain moments in our lives that change us, and none is more powerful than the loss of a child. I can’t imagine the feel, but Initial Notification was written as a lament for a hometown boy who didn’t come back... and the agony of his family. It’s written a bit more in Ger’s style than mine, but since it was military-based, I figured it was the way to go.
Anyway...
SNK is on track for an Aug. 23 update, barring unforeseen consequences. Ger is leaving for Japan, and I am currently working 60 hours a week, and though I do write, SNK is a very trying piece. I do love it, though. Have to finish.
There is a new recommendation up for the first time in an ice age. I have one other fic lined up for October, so... ^_^
This layout is designed around Act 11. He he he. I lovvveee these three.
quicksilver hacked into Li's computers at 06:31 p.m. trabsmission |:| new layout

Well, finally got a new layout up after half a year, just in time for the release of our most recent side, Initial Notification, and also Act 11.1, which is due to be posted this Saturday, August 23.
I'm moving to Japan and my computer is going ahead of me, so as much as we would love to start updating regularly again, that's not going to happen for some time. However, we thought it would be really crappy of us to have promised all of you updates in August/September and not deliver on our promise. So you'll at least have part 1 of 11 to mull over until October.
QS can probably talk more about Initial Notification, since she wrote it...
