For those of you visiting for the first time, Sainan no Kekka is a fanfiction sequel to the anime Gundam Wing. SnK, as it's commonly abbreviated, discards the "canon" OVA sequel Endless Waltz and instead explores an alternate possibility. What if the identity of the Gundam pilots was found out by the general public two years after the war ended? What consequences would this have on the pilots? On the people who considered them to be friends? On the newly developed World Nation and Preventers military organization?

As we are a fanfiction partnership, Quicksilver and I feel that it is only fitting that we introduce some of the great Gundam Wing fanfic works that exist. While Sainan no Kekka is our only GW fanfiction, there are certainly plenty other fics out there that deserve recognition. This column will spotlight one fic a month that we feel embodies the qualities of what makes a Gundam Wing fanfic great.

With a new layout comes a new recommendation.

To be honest, Ger and I have stopped trying to find fics, simply because the fandom isn’t what we would like it to be. There’s few writers who truly dare to either be different, or have the skills to write something old into something new.

Well, I’m pleased to say I’ve finally found some writers I do like again, and it’s pulling me back into fandom.

The Drums Of Heaven is a great read, and not just because it’s written by a writer who knows what a spellchecker is. Simply put, it’s a piece that should satisfy all the people who love the politics and action of SNK, but want the more homosexual tones of the more mainstream fandom. While the piece hasn’t entirely crossed the line into full-blown yaoi, it’s going there, but doing it with style and ISSUES.

It’s an afterwar piece, set after Endless Waltz, after Heero has left. Around five years later, he’s thrust back into the scene... and it seems Quatre and Wufei have drawn the lines against Trowa and Duo. Interesting... and Hilde is a key player. Relena is handled wonderfully, and the characters have evolved believably over the time period.

Hacker action, terrorist plot, a scummy underworld... it’s got it all.

It’s still in progress, and the author updates almost daily. Great read, great fic, and had something for everyone.

Just a brief update: QS has promised me that 13.1 will be up by tomorrow; however, I haven't heard from her AGAIN all weekend. So we'll see. Please check back and if it's not up by tomorrow night, the answer is no.

Howdy, folks. We're shooting for a Dec 12 post deadline for 13.1. Fear not, it IS being written. All my parts are done, and QS is half done. We're just a little...slow.

I'll let you know by next week whether we're going to make the date or not. I also plan on working on an Act 13 blog layout sometime, as this layout is Act 12 and has been up for a billion years. >.> I've been meaning to blog something about my thoughts on 12.3, but I'll wait till the new layout is up, then you can hear all about it. XD Those who have sent us mail in the past few days, THANK YOU. Feedback is amazing. I can't believe a lot of you have been with us for four years!!!

Act 12.3 is now up! Thanks, Ger. I claim no credit for the spectacular ending...

What you will see now is our final, last act. Act 13, which was always planned to be the end, is finally underway! We have set Nov. 28 as the release date.

Act 13 will mirror Act 0 and 1, returning to a more "disjointed" and less time-sensitive format. There's a lot to cover as characters reveal the lessons they have learned - or didn't.

Thanks, everyone, for sticking with us. We're looking at the beginning of next year as the completion date, since Ger's away on vacation and the holidays are nuts.

Here I am again with an update. I wonder if anyone even reads this blog anymore? If you do, here's the story.

I'd really love to apologize for not updating the story in months, but really, I don't feel like apologizing again and I don't think we have anything to apologize for. Life is life, and QS and I both work full time, something we did not do when we began SnK. Honestly, I wish we could just drop our jobs sometimes and write fanfic for a living, because that would be one heck of a sweet job. Unfortunately, that dream doesn't look like it's going to come true, so we're stuck updating rather erraticly.

We've been receiving a lot of mail from first-time readers. Thank you! It really makes us happy to see that our story is being enjoyed still, even after 4 years.

For those of you wondering about the rest of SnK, here are the answers.

YES we intend to finish it.

YES we hope to do so before the year ends.

YES 12.3 is being written as I speak.

As we have been saying for quite some time, 12.3 is the end of the immediate STORY but not the end of SnK itself. We planned SnK to have 13 acts, with Act 13 being the epilogue, and that will continue to happen. However, those of you wondering what exactly will happen to Sally and all of your favorite characters at the final battle will have your satisfaction at the end of 12.3.

ACT 12.3 WILL BE POSTED ON FRIDAY, 12 NOVEMBER 2004.

Just a quick little update.

First of all, I have posted the tracks to the soundtrack through Act 11. I don't have the lyrics up yet, which is why there are no links to lyrics. I don't plan to have them up any time either. First things first, and that means probably the fic might be finished before the lyrics are up. But there's plenty of time for that afterwards.

Second, we are looking good and right on track for our Jan 24 update. Expect it ON TIME! (I know, amazing)

Third, spiffy new layout for the SnK blog. I don't know if people still read this, as we haven't really blogged for ages, but I hope you all remember it's still in existence.

Lastly, I've added an essay on Heero in the "info" section explaining why his SnK character Wing is the way he is. Hope it is an interesting read and that it makes sense.
