Mmmmmm... so I haven't left yet. Babysitting a process that I accidentally didn't craft correctly. So this means that I'll be here until it fails. Forgot something. Can see where the VSU College of Arts & Sciences has its priorities. Chemistry majors who need a senior level class have been screwed. The prof which normally teaches it is on sebattical. The instructor hired to teach it quit. Instead of finding someone new, they dropped the class. Would hate to be 3 classes from graduating and having to come back for another term.

Hoping the best for Lacey. Starting anew is such a challenge.

Made too many WebCT accounts, answered too many phone calls, and run out of steam on too little sleep. The router at the entrance of VSU to the Internet seems to have been flaky this weekend. Some places were reachable others were not. The routing table got full. Goody. Time to go home? 17 minutes and counting...

Weird... can reach parts of the Internet, but not other parts. Normally, I would attempt to diagnose the problem, but feeling really lazy. Last night was poker night. There were a ton of us... some hands were 8 person hands. Some of the usual crew were there. Chris, Annon, Joe, Melinda, Christy, and Britt. Some new comers... Curtis and Andres. Was low stakes so I only got as high as just over $9 (only bought in $5). I could have lost a lot more. Folded on some pretty good hands cause I correctly guessed people had some better ones. Only on a couple did I fold where I could have won. Much more fun to hang out with fun people, great food, and challenge each other.

Remember the Random Elizabethan Curse Generator? Wow... remember seeing this back in 96 or 97!! Thanks Le Corbeau! Maybe that is showing how much of an old fart I am for this Internet stuff. I got started hardcore back in the tail end of 1995 and have been going strong. My first internet experience was actually the summer before... Netscape 1.0 on a 14.4 dial-up modem. By the by... Netscape 6.1 is better than Netscape 6.0, but am having problems. First, can't force a login to Netcape Internet Messenger so I can't use that. Older javascripts which anticipate Netscape's old style do not work. Stuff like that. If they hang in there another year and can beef up usage to the point the web designers like me care, then maybe just maybe... Netscape will make a come back. Don't hold your breath.

Dutch: They made it for him special. It's an eighty-eight Magnum. Danny Vermin: It shoots through schools.

Campus is crazy. This is Welcome Week, specifically the dorms open today, so all the parking spaces are taken. People are parked on the curb. Normal entrances to the university are block off by Public Safety and Parking. Had a meeting to go to at 10... was 15 minutes late because I could not get off campus even when I left 10 minutes early. I could have walked there in 10 minutes.

If the Beatles were geeks:Yesterday, Yesterday, All those backups seemed a waste of pay. Now my database has gone away. Oh I believe in yesterday. Suddenly, There's not half the files there used to be, And there's a milestone hanging over me. The system crashed so suddenly. I pushed something wrong What it was I could not say. Now all my data's gone and I long for yesterday-ay-ay-ay. Yesterday, The need for back-ups seemed so far away. I knew my data was all here to stay, Now I believe in yesterday.

Cute joke: An old sailor was sitting on a bench at the mall. A young man walked up to the bench and sat down. He had spiked hair all different colors-green, red, orange, blue, and yellow. The old man just stared. The young man said, "What's the matter old timer, never done anything wild in your life?" The old sailor replied, "Got drunk once and had sex with a parrot. I was just wondering if you were my son.

I don't get it... if you were the advertiser developing a program where people purchase 2 months free trial issues to magazines, then you probably would have a cover for each magazine to which people can subscribe. That seems pretty obvious. My problem is that the advertisement picture clearly shows Fortune magazine in the picture and does not include Fortune in the selection process. Probably there are extenuating circumstances... (Aren't there always?) Maybe Fortune backed out.... Maybe no one was choosing Fortune... Only the company giving away the free trials to its customers could not be bothered to remove Fortune from the picture.
Must be a good morning, I have another rant... Got an email from "Jennifer" with a subject of "You get my voice mail? Still in Valdosta?" Why would any of the Jennifers I know leave a message on my voicemail! Wait a minute... What voicemail? Reading the email let me know that Sprint is targetting me with their Nickel Nights advertisements. Companies using misleading techniques to get people to open snail mail have been roundly criticized by the Senate and threatened with regulation if they did not correct their behavior. Since these market for misleading advertising is drying up in snail mail, where do the people who have gotten good at it go? Email! The next generation! Where you can send HTML with ActiveX messages to potential customers. Pretend like a friend is trying to contact them. So this message will get trashed with other things like "Put your computer to work" and "Permission to send cash required" and "Who will provide for your family ???". What family?

Probably didn't mention it yesterday, but my alternator died over the weekend. Was able to get it replaced under the warranty. Means I can drive again... hate not having a car (no public transportation). Another worry off my back!
