Wondering if it really was an accident that I forgot to backup my Outlook PST file. All that email... gone. Thousands of messages (almost a Gigabyte worth). $#!7 !!

Yes, I KNOW that I should wait at least 2 weeks before installing a Microsoft update! Yes, I installed it anyway... Now I am backing up all my data so I can reinstall Windows. *sigh* Guess it means I have some time to do other things like work on that dbMan stuff?

How about INCH - Institute for Naming Children Humanely? Ezra is not nearly as bad as some names I have heard. I did hear about this one girl who has a different last name than her parents because the dad mispelled it when he named her.

Nice, the Pita posts are working again. The ones that were not showing up from all last week are not visible. I would think that it was my computer that was the problem IF the posts had shown up on other computers. Had fun Friday talking to middle school students for Career Day. Don't know what to think of the guilty looking faces when I talk about hackers.

Best spam subject line of the week? "I found your wallet".

Sometimes posts show, sometimes they don't. Weird.

Nice, agencies use databases that are not accurate. Nor are people even aware of the data or have access to change or dispute the data. Lovely. Source: Unregulated databases hold personal data

Do you hear that sucking sound? Music companies want every last coin you have. So does Hollywood. Now, Yahoo has a pay-per-view service: Yahoo to launch pay-per-search

Applied to be a dmoz.org editor in the Journal category. Figured they could use the help, especially since the blogs and journals I read most are not listed.

Actor's plaque mistakenly honors [Martin Luther King, Jr.'s] assassin How sick is this? These people order a plaque to honor James Earl Jones intending for it to say "Thank You James Earl Jones for keeping the dream alive" below a pic of MLK. The company which made it subsituted Jones for Ray "by a typo". A couple of interesting logs I just found...

"The man who views the world at 50 the same as he did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his life." -- Muhammad Ali More: "It's just a job. Grass grows, birds fly, waves pound the sand. I just beat people up." "Boxing is a lot of white men watching two black men beat each other up." "Champions aren't made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them: a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill." "I am America. I am the part you won't recognise, but get used to me. Black, confident, cocky - my name, not yours. My religion, not yours. My goals, my own. Get used to me." "Hating people because of their colour is wrong. And it doesn't matter which colour does the hating. It's just plain wrong." Source: Ali's words speak for themselves, Guardian Unlimited

I like the concept of this blog... other than myself. Snippets of conversations and observations of people.

ouch... Hotmail (does not deserve a link) has lowered their inactive time out. So if you do not check your email once every 30 days, then you lose everything in the account. Thankfully, I've kept my Hotmail account checked recently (except for the account that does not matter), but I imagine there are others that adhered to the barely within the old 60 day policy. I don't particularly care for system administrators who change the rules on a whim without giving ample time to the users to be informed of the change. There is this notion that by sending an email to someone they are immediately informed. Email is considered to be just like answering machines. You leave a message and think the person has it. In reality, some people check their messages all the time, especially if they are screening calls. Others may take days to check messages. The same consideration should be given to email. Personally, I think that sys admins should give at least a month after announcing a change in policy before enforcing said policy. A month is ample time. Hotmail announced the policy on the 16th and seems to have already enforced it. I last checked sneezypb[AT]hotmail[DOT]com back in early December. So hopefully all I lost was some spam. Nothing really important should have been going there except some jokes I forwarded there in case I went back and redid one of my sites that had lots of jokes I had collected. Guess it is time to make sure I have hard copies of all the important emails, huh? Also should have backups elsewhere just in case.

What's up with a 2 liter bottle of coke being the same as a 20 oz bottle of coke. And a 1 liter bottle is more than both.
