It's February 29. So special.....
Today is Fuji's (fave PoT character, go ahead and groan) birthday. It's also the day of the moving of Kimeru's site to http://www.kimeru.com. Yay to him for getting his own domain. (Technically, it's March 1 in Japan, but it's still the 29th here!)
It's also the Oscars. This is the first time since 2001 that I've actually watched the telecast.

I've been waking up to find my blanket wrapped around my neck..... I wonder if I've been trying to kill myself in my sleep.

I am still considering buying Kimeru's CDs.... though it is quite evil of him to put out two versions of the CD since he knows people like me will want both of them! Smart, but evil. I <3 this man! (Probably not in the way you are thinking, Poundcake, so don't look at me like that.) The YuuGiOh song is nice.

Have sent out my last tuition check for college! My paychecks will no longer be going straight back to the college. :-)

The weather is beautiful. Wonder how long it will last.

Oops, I meant mIRCX in my last post. Proofreading can be an invaluable thing. mIRCX was having DDOS attacks and has shut down.

So the weekend is here. I dread next week really. Take-home from inorganic chem. *shudder*

Lots of stuff coming out for Tenipuri.

I always thought it was spelled circumference?

Gah, I hope that my paycheck this period will include money from work I did for Chris. Otherwise, I don't think I'll have enough to pay for tuition + credit card + phone bill + lab manual costs.

The whole DBAC thing is very, very stupid.

Sniff sniff, mIRC closed down and is no more. Must find other ways to fill up hard drive.

Today was a very weird day in lab. There was a girl there, the same one that always twirl her hair around her finger, asking a lot of questions about religion. "What's this Easter deal about?" Then it snowballed into what Christianity is, what Judaism is, and about the Bible.
The lab instructor was explaining the whole Easter story, and at the end, she asked, "So was this Good Friday stuff before or after the whole Adam and Eve thing?" o_O
Then the conversation went to the Bible. (She asked if the whole Bible was about Easter.) Then when some other students and the lab instructor was discussing New Testament vs. Old Testament, she says "I went to a Bar Mitzvah once!" The people turned and looked at her and said something along the lines of "good for you".
Yeah, so I was not only very confused, but I was also very amused. She is in no way dumb, but the questions she asked were so incredibly ignorant (for anyone other than me who watches The Apprentice, she acts a lot like Tammy, the one who said to George Steinbrenner that he has a lot of bling). She's not born here so she might not have a great grasp of the culture (heck, I don't and I've been in this country 16 years), but she has lived here long enough for her to have no accent and for her to be, at the very least, a resident of NY, if not a citizen of the US.
This, people, is why diversity is important. Otherwise, you might get people who says something like "All I know about Jewish people are bagels and lox". She said that.
Oh yeah, by the way, she's going to med school next year.... I find that a pretty frightening thought.

Hmmmm, I just found out that someone I knew in high school died in a car accident. He was in 2001, but I knew him through the program we both worked in and he dated someone in my class. He was 21.
A bit of shock.

Did not like the fact that somebody tried to turn Hellsing into a phallic symbol and made allusions to tentacle sex when Alucard turned into mist/smoke. Perv.

Why won't mIRC work? :(

So AnimeBoston is all sold out. Gee, who were the idiots who planned this thing? Last year it was during Boston Marathon weekend. This year it is Easter weekend. I don't think they'll have anyone I am particularly interested in seeing though, so no big deal. I wanted to see banana_onigiri do karaoke though.

12 miles? I was talking about from Woodland....

As expected, this weekend I had to deal with annoying people who make me want to beat them over the head with something hard. What pisses me off is that some people get mad at me for enforcing the policies. If you don't like the rules, don't work here.

Leslie visited this weekend. I think she was traumatized by Princess Tutu..... Not that I'm not, mind you.
We went to Chau Chow for dim sum. It's not bad. Better than China Pearl, imho. I think I prefer Emperor (or was it Imperial?) Garden. We were expecting 16 dollars back in change, so I ask the waiter to give us the 6 in ones. He ended up bringing us only the 6 dollars and not the 10. I guess I wasn't clear enough.... but common sense tells you that no one would tip 10 dollars for a 24 dollar meal, right???? Especially in Chinatown!
We had taken the T, so on the way back, we saw these two girls run after the GW and miss it. We ended up offering them a ride. They were actually planning to walk back to campus! It was rainy, and it's a LONG walk!

What happened at the anime showing, you?

I didn't like Lost in Translation all that much. I just didn't find it that funny. Could also have been that I was falling asleep in the theater.

Being that I am weekend manager this week, I will let out my customary People suck because they do. Irresponsible people makes me want to blow things up.p>

Warning: Rant ahead.

For work, the managers give out a quiz every week to make sure that the consultants understand their job or at least know where to look for answers. I'm reading over what people submitted as their answers, and I have to say, I am shocked slightly... "Slightly" in that I already knew that most college students don't seem to take their job seriously (not hard, since it seems like you have to take the computer and drop it off the 5th floor to get fired....) but I was shocked at just how irresponsibly people take their jobs. For example, one question asked,
"If you needed to speak with your professor after a class, but you have a shift in 5 minutes, what should you do?"

Appropriate answer would be something like "I will let my professor know that I need to speak with her, but that I have to go to work and try to set up an appointment or email her."

People's answers include "I'll email the consultant before me and tell her that I'll be several minutes late" and "I will speak with the professor for 5 minutes and then run to work so I'm not considered late by the 5 minute rule". (5-minute rule is that if they sign in within 5 minutes, we don't require an explanation for why they're late.)

What bugs me is not that people are putting their academics ahead of work.... I mean, they are students after all, but rather that they don't follow through on their commitments. I HATE irresponsible people A LOT. The 5 minute rule was made to take into account the facts that professors sometimes go over, or that certain clocks are different from others. It wasn't meant to be taken as "if my shift is at 9:45, I can show up at 9:50 with no penalty." This is especially true when IS takes that 5 minutes and rounds it up to the next nearest quarter hour, so that people aren't working 5 extra minutes for nothing. It's ridiculous that people don't show up for those 5 minutes but expects to get paid for it (plus 10 extra minutes).

It's not just that, but just not listening to what we tell them. Sometimes they post asking questions that were asked only one hour before. I've taken to responding "Read the instructions" rather than giving the actual answers because they really don't try to look for the answers themselves. I really wonder how these people will be able to get jobs in the future. Being incompetent is not the way to go in the real world.

Hope you had a good and safe trip home, X.

Good to hear that no weird questions came up during your interview, Poundcake. I think it's better to expect the worse though when it comes to interviews.... that's what they did to us with the mock interview: do a pretty bad (not quite worse) case scenario so that in case it does go bad, you won't panic.

Watching Kikumaru's voice come out of Takahashi Hiroki is like watching Kime sing. o_O

Good luck on your interview tomorrow!!!!

So I finally got the clip I've been trying to get for a while now. It's a clip from the Tenipuri Perfect Live event, and it's the part where they introduce the seiyuu. The best part of the thing is that it actually plays on my old, slow, divx-less computer!! I want more clips of that event. Especially the ones involving the dubbing contest with Yuuta and Shinji. :) :) :)

Oh Valentine's Kiss is so horribly amusing. Really, the karaoke is so funny to listen to.

Also got some Love of Prince songs, and they are pretty "meh". Kinda like the Kiss of Prince songs.

Got back from Dyke Ball about an hour ago. It was in interesting experience.... well not really interesting, but interesting enough. Lots of very drunk, some very naked people. The school girl look I guess is very popular for guys to be able to pull off. The other look that I saw a lot of was shirtless with a hat.

Happy Birthday MJ!!!!
Hope you have a wonderful birthday, because it is your birthday despite what the clock on pitas says.

After having spent around 7 hours of doing things like play Taboo, charades, "would you rather...", and BS, I am surprisingly not tired. In fact, I finished off my leftovers from dinner and is not planning to go to bed for at least another 1/2 to 1 hour. At least.

Hope your visit to Rochester went well, and your Momo plushie is too adorable.

Now I'm curious to watch the next few episodes of FullMetal Alchemist in which apparently, there is a people eating bad guy.

Been watching The Apprentice, an overly dramatic, somewhat silly, yet oh-so-addictive show where people are competing for the presidency of one of Donald Trump's companies. Some of the people on there are very annoying. I am so glad that Jessie (Jesse? Jessi? or what I kept calling her because I forgot her name, the girl with the annoying voice) was fired. She annoyed me. It sounded like she was crying, and she pleaded a few times "Please don't fire me". ugh.

Textbooks finally arrived and now I have to start doing homework again. :(

Mr. X is here!

In the grand tradition of Tenipuri songs, the karaoke versions of Sora Takeshi and Valentine's Kiss is stuck in my head, with the occasional break for Porno Graffiti's Melissa (FMA theme).

Akira was one hella messed up movie.
