Adult Children of Alien Abductees is a Twelve
Step fellowship program of exoterran
hybrids, transmorphs and DNA manipulates who grew up in nonterran or otherwise exterran functional environments. We meet with each other in a mutually respectful, safe environment and acknowledge our common experiences. We discover how childhood affected us in the past and influences us in the present ("The Problem"). We take positive action. By practicing the Twelve Steps, focusing on "The Solution", and accepting the loving understanding of Diquad, we find freedom from the past and a way to improve our lives today. http://alienabductees.tripod.com/ACAA.html

And the Rival Saviours. They could almost be a band or something. Or a team. Or a Blog. So damn many saviours, so damn little salvation. Bother. But I digress. I was led here by reading a Millennial Madness novel (they're pretty cheap these days) that's not too bad: THE PROPHETESS by Barbara Wood. There's a search for immortality via seven scrolls, etc. Next up: I'll start on The Seventh Scroll by Wilbur Smith and see if I can stay awake thru it, or stomach it, or whatever.
[ps: It turns out that 7th SCROLL is a read-once-then-toss book -- and I don't toss many books. So Wilbur Smith isn't quite as bad as Clive Cussler. That ain't saying much. Don't bother with the prequel, RIVER GOD]
It's two days before XMas
My RV's stuck in the snow
The tow-truck's bells are jingling, jingling
The highway sirens are jangling, jangling
The fuzzy dice are dangling, dangling
In the tow-truck's rear window
OK, it's not REALLY so bad. Well, yeah, the RV *IS* stuck in the snow, and will be for days, but... whatever... except for a cold & the cold, everything's just peachy.
Meanwhile, there are yet more new DSRB texts online at the HOFC site (and I stole, er borrowed Dick Oakes' piece on THE OLD MIRAGE SALESMAN). 9 more DSRBs are now in my collection; I'll start entering their texts soon. And be sure not to miss my classic RiverRat ScrapBooks... unless you're really humorless or something.
Sung to the tune of "If You're Happy And You Know It
Clap Your Hands"
If we cannot find Osama, bomb Iraq.
If the markets hurt your Mama, bomb Iraq.
If the terrorists are Saudi
And the bank takes back your Audi
And the TV shows are bawdy,
Bomb Iraq.
Just 1.5 weeks til XMas, time whizzing past. I collected the news emails sent to family & friends listing the transitional events (see the UPDATES) (but they're outdated and I haven't transcribed later journal entries yet -- but who cares?) Not much songwriting lately, a few from November. I've been obsessed with acquiring Desert Rat Scrap Books and transcribing and entering their texts. A long-remembered DRSB entry led me to a booklet about the Lost Ship of the Desert and more text entry. Ouch.
Meanwhile I've acquired a Sony MZ-N505 MiniDisc (MD) recorder with digital (USB) interface. But it turns out there's a huge software protection controversy. So I can't yet upload music tracks I've made, but it's really neat for stuffing several CD's worth of music onto a tiny disc. Now I just need the time to do so... And sometime after mid-January, after we're through playing FFIC's bizarre game, I'll start digitally recording our huge collection of 78s and burning MDs of'em. And then sell the 78s, hopefully.
[The process: record from 78 player directly to the Sony VAIO's hard disc, saving the tracks as .WAV files. SneakerNet those .WAVs in 128-meg chunks on the Memory Stick to the Monorail, which has the CD burner attached. Write those .WAVs to CD-RW for archiving. Setup a CD-sized space on the VAIO hard disk and use the NetMD SimpleBurner software to put the tracks onto the MD. Whew.]
Now there are a line of major storms blowing in, and we've gotta take the RV down the mountain today. Hope we're not swept off the road. Then I'm offline for another week, then we're back and preparing to feed the family XMas din-din, and then maybe I'll have time to post a bunch of skeptical connexions here. I *HAVE* been accumulating a pile of crackpot links. Be patient...

So we just spent a couple days up at Tahoe, helping (??) B&B celebrate an anniversary, along with Aunt Ginny. Had a great time, except for being poisoned by smoke. Casinos suck, and Caesar's is supposedly the best of the lot. Oy. We found out why Tahoe is a shoppers' paradise for Sierra foothill dwellers - closer than the Bay Area, bouncier than Sacramento. But beware the wild geese.

A setback: I won't be hauling and building zillions of bookcases this week, mainly because of worn plastic gears, the gears that transmit engine rotation data to a sensor that tells the computer in the Ford Explorer when to do a transmission shift. This occurred as I drove towards the IKEA store - warning lights flashing, tranny choking, etc. I crawled into a Ford shop in Lodi (OH LORD, STUCK IN LODI AGAIN) and found that it would take at least 2 days to fix. Bother. Earlier, a single emu watched the traffic drive by.
